Apparatus and method for controlling a growth environment of a plant

Abstract

A method of controlling a growth environment of a plant, the method comprising: obtaining an electrical signal from the plant S01; applying the electrical signal to a machine learning model that’s been trained to assess a characteristic of the plant in order to generate prediction data S02; and applying a user defined rule-set to the prediction data in order to generate a control signal that will change the plant’s growth environment S03. Preferably, the method further comprises providing a device to change the growth environment based upon the control signal. The method comprises a user defined rule set so that the device changes the growth environment based upon both the control signal and the further user defined ruleset. The user defined ruleset may apply temporal restrictions upon the device’s operation. The user defined ruleset may allow the device to ignore the control signal if a user supplied condition is satisfied. The predetermined condition may comprise a particular time period when the device automatically ignores the control signal. Also, an apparatus for controlling a growth environment of a plant.
