A magnetic release system for a headcollar for horses replacing the need for a buckle and facilitating a quicker, safer release. Preferably buckles and eyelets on the crownpiece and nose band of the headcollar allow the size of the headcollar to be adjusted but are not required for its release. Preferably a magnet has a pull tab that enables the headcollar to be removed without the risk of the buckles and eyelets on other parts of the headcollar getting caught.

Description: This invention is a headcollar for horses but incorporates a new safety mechanism so that the horses can be released quicker. Common headcollars are widely used, however, they pose various difficulties and can be harmful to horses. For example, due to most headcollars using a generic ‘buckle’ feature, they do not allow a simple ‘quick release’ action in the event of eyelets getting caught, etc. To overcome this overbearing problem, this invention proposes a magnetic release instead of a generic buckle in order to encourage a safer headcollar option with an efficient quick release mechanism. This makes the design unique because no other headcollars on the market have got a magnetic quick release feature, therefore I would like to patent the use of magnets on a headcollar for the purpose of quick release. Statement of Invention: The invention is predominantly the use of a strong magnetic release in place of the buckle for headcollars, so that horses can be released quickly, smoothly and safely. The magnet includes a pull tab so that the headcollar can be removed instantly without the risk of buckles and eyelets getting caught. The headcollar will not come undone until either this tab is pulled, or it is physically removed by unbuckling the adjuster buckles.
