The machine may take the form of woodworking machines including table saws, band saws, miter saws, hand-held circular saws, pneumatic chop saws, radial-arm saws, jointers, planars, routers and shapers. The machines may include an operative structure configured to perform a task, where the operative structure includes a cutting tool adapted to move in at least one motion, and a safety system adapted to detect the occurrence of an unsafe condition between a person and the cutting tool and for mitigating the unsafe condition. The safety system may include a detection subsystem and a reaction subsystem.

Surgical sagittal saw and method of using same

A surgical sagittal saw including a handpiece from which a planar guide bar extends. A saw blade is mounted to the distal end of the guide bar to move across the guide bar. Drive rods connect the saw blade to a drive assembly in the handpiece, which drive assembly reciprocates the drive rods. The drive rods oscillate the saw blade across the distal end of the guide bar. The saw is used with a cutting guide that is in a fixed position relative to the bone or hard tissue to be cut. A capture element is disposed adjacent the guide surface and holds the guide bar to the guide surface so the cut is made along the desired cut plane.

Miter saw with improved safety system

A miter saw is disclosed having a base, a blade supported by the base, a detection system adapted to detect a dangerous condition between a person and the blade, and a reaction system associated with the detection system to cause a predetermined action to take place upon detection of the dangerous condition. The blade is rotatable, and moves into a cutting zone to cut a workpiece. The predetermined action may be to stop the blade from rotating, to create an impulse against movement of the blade into the cutting zone, or to cause the blade to move away from the cutting zone.

Extensible pole saw having separable sections

An elongated pole pruner for cutting and trimming trees, bushes and the like having three separable sections, that when assembled, form an extended length pruner. The pole pruner includes a first section containing a handle and battery pack, a second extension section, and a third section that contains the purner itself. Each of the sections contains an electrical conductor that is attached to corresponding conductor in an adjacent pole sections via a male plug and female receptacle. In this way, the battery pack in the first section of the pole is able to deliver power through the second section to the pruner in the third section.

Coring bit

A coring bit provides easy core removal by utilizing a series of lateral blades which extend from the top cutting surface to the base of the bit. The lateral blades and inner faces of the coring bit are biased to provide a conical shape to the core thus permitting the core to be easily extracted. Vents positioned approximate the lateral blades allow chips, debris and waste to be quickly dispelled. Various types of small center drill bits aid in the initial coring stages.

An electric power tool has a motor-driven circular tool that can be clamped by means of a clamping device. A mechanical braking device (2) serves to brake the tool. A safety element (4) prevents improper handling of the electric power tool. In a safety position, the safety element (4) prevents the motor from being turned on and activates the braking device (2). In a release position, the safety element (4) allows the motor to be turned on and the braking device (12) is released. An additional locking mechanism prevents that a clamping lever, needed to actuate the clamping device, can be actuated in the clamped state in the safety position. In the release position of the safety element, the locking mechanism is unlocked.

The quickly-detachable protective cover unit of a table sawing machine includes a protective cover, a non-return plate, a protective plate, a combining plate and an extending plate. The extending plate positioned at one side of the saw blade of a table sawing machine has its inner end fixed with a quickly-detachable handle unit for positioning the combining plate thereon. The protective plate is inserted through the saw blade and the combining plate, positioned on the table-sawing machine. The non-return plate and the protective cover are respectively provided with a quickly detachable device to fit in the positioning hole of the combining plate. The components of the quickly detachable protective cover unit are combined by quickly detachable mechanism so they can be disassembled or assembled quickly, needing no tool for carrying out disassembling work.
