Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present disclosure is directed generally to the field of devices designed for the removal of marine life stings. BACKGROUND Jellyfish stings are a common occurrence in marine environments and can cause significant discomfort and, in some cases, severe allergic reactions. The venomous cells, or nematocysts, found in the tentacles of jellyfish can inject venom into the skin upon contact, leading to a variety of symptoms including pain, redness, swelling, and in some cases, systemic reactions. Various methods and devices have been developed to treat jellyfish stings, including the use of vinegar, hot water, and specialized tools for removing nematocysts from the skin. However, these methods and devices have their limitations. For example, the use of vinegar and hot water may not be effective in all cases, and the use of specialized tools can be time-consuming and may not be readily available in all situations. Therefore, there is a need for an improved device for treating jellyfish stings that is effective, easy to use, and readily available. The present invention addresses this need. SUMMARY According to an aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a jellyfish sting removal device for removing jellyfish stings. The jellyfish sting removal device comprises a body. The jellyfish sting removal device further comprises a bladed portion for scraping across the surface of a person’s skin. The body of the jellyfish sting removal device is substantially planar. The bladed portion of the jellyfish sting removal device is defined by an edge of the body. The bladed portion of the jellyfish sting removal device has a thickness that transitions from a first thickness to a second thickness. The second thickness of the bladed portion is less than the first thickness. Optionally, the body of the jellyfish sting removal device defines a handle portion. Optionally, the area of the body in the vicinity of the handle portion is thicker than the remainder of the body. Optionally, the bladed portion of the jellyfish sting removal device is chamfered. Optionally, the edge of the body, which comprises the bladed portion, has a thickness of 0.5mm. Optionally, the jellyfish sting removal device, as described above, is manufactured from either metal or plastic. Optionally, the overall dimension of the jellyfish sting removal device is between 90 - 120mm wide. Additionally, the overall dimension of the jellyfish sting removal device is between 50 - 85 mm tall. BRIEF DESCRIPTION These and other aspects will now be described with reference to the following drawings in which: Figure 1 illustratively shows a first view a jellyfish sting removal device according to the disclosure. Figure 2 illustratively shows a second view of a jellyfish sting removal device according to the disclosure. DETAILED DESCRIPTION As shown in the figures, the present disclosure relates to a jellyfish sting removal device (10) designed for the purpose of removing jellyfish stings. The jellyfish sting removal device (10) may comprise a body (12) and a bladed portion (14). The body (12) of the jellyfish sting removal device (10) may be substantially planar in its structure. The bladed portion (14) of the jellyfish sting removal device (10) is specifically designed for scraping across the surface of a person's skin. The bladed portion (14) is defined by an edge (16) of the body (12) and transitions from a first thickness (T1) to a second thickness (T2). The second thickness (T2) is less than the first thickness (T1). The body (12) of the jellyfish sting removal device (10) comprises a handle (18) in the form of a cutout through the body (12). The cutout is sized to receive the fingers of a user’s hand and provides an ergonomic grip for the user to hold onto while using the jellyfish sting removal device (10) to remove jellyfish stings. The region of the body (12) surrounding the handle (18) defines a raised protrusion (20) on one side of the body (12) and a recess (22) on the other side of the body (12). The jellyfish sting removal device (10) may also include a serrated edge along the bladed portion (14). Claims
1. A jellyfish sting removal device for removing jellyfish stings, the jellyfish sting removal device comprising: a body; and a bladed portion for scraping across the surface of a person’s skin, wherein the body is substantially planar, and the bladed portion is defined by an edge of the body and has a thickness that transitions from a first thickness to a second thickness, wherein the second thickness is less than the first thickness.
2. A jellyfish sting removal device according to claim 1, wherein the body defines a handle portion.
3. A jellyfish sting removal device according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the area of the body in the vicinity of the handle portion is thicker than the remainder of the body.
4. A jellyfish sting removal device according to claim 1, wherein the bladed portion is chamfered.
5. A jellyfish sting removal device according to claim 4, wherein the edge of the body defining the bladed portion has a thickness of 0.5mm.
6. A jellyfish sting removal device according to claim 4 manufactured from metal or plastic.
7. A jellyfish sting removal device according to claim 6, wherein the overall dimension thereof is between 90 - 120mm wide and between 50 - 85 mm tall.
