Abstract
This invention concerns a portable device for detecting subclinical mastitis in cow's milk based on colorimetric sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT), which consists of a main body, a Printed Circuit Board (1), an ESP32 microcontroller (2), a TCS3200 color sensor module (3), an LM2596 power regulator module (4), a 1.8-inch TFT LCD display (5), three push buttons (6), a TP4056 charging module, a 3.7V lithium-ion battery, a reusable sample container (cartridge), and an Ovi-Reagent containing an anionic surfactant Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) and a Food Additive (BTP) color indicator. The reagent triggers a dual-action reaction in the form of an increase in viscosity through somatic cell lysis and a color change through the indicator's response to a shift in the pH of mastitis milk. The microcontroller (2) performs normalization of the proportion of Red, Green, Blue colors from the sensor (3) and evaluation against the threshold value to classify the sample as SAFE or MASTITIS in less than one minute. Results are displayed on the LCD screen (5) and sent via WiFi to a web-based dashboard for farm data management.
