Two-point upper electrode unit for welding

Abstract

The design article is an upper electrode unit used to weld two locations simultaneously. This upper electrode unit comprises an aluminum support plate with a resin holder attached to it, a pair of slide holders supported by the resin holder for vertical movement, and replaceable electrode tips attached to the pair of slide holders, which are prismatic to prevent rotation. The support plate is also provided with a support shaft, on which a movable electrode (swinging arm) is supported via a gap. The tops of the pair of slide holders abut against the undersides of both ends of the movable electrode. Therefore, even if the electrode tips attached to the left and right slide holders are slightly different lengths, the pair of electrode tips move vertically with the slide holders, preventing misalignment with the lower electrode tip that clamps the workpiece together with the upper electrode tip during welding, improving welding quality.
