Sock-wearing aids

Abstract

This item is a device to assist in putting on hosiery (socks, stockings, tabi socks, and other items worn on the feet) and consists of a main body and a drawstring (see reference diagram for an explanation of the names of each part). The main body has a front surface (seen in the front view and in the perspective view enlarged from the front side of the main body) and a back surface (seen in the rear view and in the perspective view enlarged from the back side of the main body) sandwiching an elastic midplate, and the front and back surfaces are covered with different shapes and materials. The front surface of the main body is made of a shape and material that is more slippery than the back surface. The back surface of the main body is made of a shape and material that has a higher coefficient of friction than the front surface. To use it, first roll the main body widthwise with the front side facing inward and insert it into the opening of the sock (Reference diagram 1 for use). After the entire main body is placed inside the sock, the main body is opened to widen the opening of the sock (Reference diagram 2 for use). Next, the user inserts the toes into the base end of the rolled-up main body and pulls the drawstring toward the hand, pulling up the sock together with the main body (see reference figures 3-4 for use). Finally, the user can put on the sock by pulling the main body off the sock (see reference figure 5 for use). Because the surface of the main body has the aforementioned shape and material, it is easy to insert the foot all the way into the sock when first putting it on, and because the back of the main body has the aforementioned shape and material, it is difficult for the sock to come off the main body while pulling it up. The main body returns to its original shape due to the midsole after the sock is placed over it, expanding the rolled inner area to make it easy to insert the foot all the way into the sock, and pressing the back of the main body against the inside of the sock, making it difficult for the sock to come off the main body while pulling it up.
