Abstract
The two-stage chopsticks of this design are characterized by a two-stage shape: the front section that touches food is thinner (2mm to 5mm) than regular chopsticks, while the rear section, which is held in the hand, is thicker and easier to hold like regular chopsticks. The length of the front section is the same as or shorter than the rear section. Because the front section of these two-stage chopsticks is thinner than regular chopsticks, it is difficult to pick up food and only small amounts can be picked up, allowing for careful and slow eating. The chopsticks of this design are 20cm to 30cm long, shorter than the two-stage chopsticks used for picking up fried foods such as tempura. The thin section of these chopsticks can be stored in a sheath to keep them clean before eating. The sheath can also be removed and used as a chopstick rest when eating.
