Abstract

The item related to this design is a grater, consisting of a deep, bottomed container with teeth on the bottom for grating ingredients such as spices. As shown in the plan view, the outer shape of the opening of the item viewed from above is approximately a regular hexagon, and as shown in the bottom view, the outer shape of the item viewed from below is also approximately a regular hexagon. Furthermore, the sides from the opening to the bottom are composed of a combination of triangles. Because the item is composed of a combination of triangles and hexagons, it has a geometric shape that evokes a "Japanese" image, such as a hexagonal tortoise shell pattern, and has an appearance that makes it suitable as tableware to be placed on the dining table. In addition, the dashed line that continues along one side of the approximately regular hexagon is the handle, and by being placed on one side of the approximately hexagon, the container and the handle have a sense of unity. Furthermore, the four corners of the opening located on both sides of the handle can be used as spouts. The sides connected to the corners that become spouts are inclined triangular surfaces, making them easy to pour from. In addition, this product is designed to be easy to use regardless of age or gender. The two corners that form the spout are positioned perpendicular to the center line passing through the center of the product and the handle, allowing you to pour simply by rotating your wrist around the center line. The spout position minimizes strain on your body, thus contributing to SDG Goal 10, "Reduce inequalities within and among countries."
