Abstract
This article is a gripping member for industrial robots, etc., used to grip a workpiece. The article includes a gripping body having a palm portion and multiple fingers protruding from the periphery of the palm portion, and a gripping assisting device attached to each of the multiple fingers. The gripping body is formed in a bag-like shape with an opening on the side opposite the side on which the palm portion and multiple fingers are formed. The opening is sealed by a case, forming an internal space. The case has a joint for connection to a vacuum generator such as a vacuum pump. When the multiple fingers are in an open state, the article deforms so that the palm portion is sucked into the internal space by suction, and the multiple fingers elastically deform so that they collapse toward the palm portion, thereby closing the multiple fingers, thereby gripping a workpiece. The gripping assisting device is wide enough to grip a long, thin workpiece, and has multiple hemispherical protrusions on its inner surface to prevent the workpiece from slipping.
