Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a two-phase or bi-phase composition having two visibly distinct phases and capable of being converted into a single-phase composition which can be converted back into a two-phase or bi-phase composition. [Background technology]
[0002] Compositions having two visibly distinct phases, in particular an aqueous phase and an oily phase that are not emulsified within each other at rest, are commonly referred to as "two-phase" or "bi-phase" compositions. They differ from emulsions by the fact that at rest, the two phases are separate and form a single interface between the two phases, instead of the multiple interfaces between the continuous phase and each discontinuous phase present in an emulsion.
[0003] Such two-phase compositions have already been described, for example, in EP-A-370 856 and EP-A-603 080, in particular for removing make-up from the eye area.
[0004] The two-phase composition is preferably stable such that prior to use, ie at rest, the appearance and / or odor of the composition may remain unchanged for an extended period of time.
[0005] In use, the two-phase composition requires mixing, such as shaking, to form a single-phase composition, such as a "temporary" emulsion, which is then applied to a keratinous material, such as the skin. This single-phase composition is required to provide the targeted cosmetic benefit, such as good make-up removal ability. It is preferred that the single-phase composition be able to provide the cosmetic benefit without causing discomfort.
[0006] On the other hand, after use, i.e. under resting conditions, the single-phase composition must return to its initial state by transformation into a two-phase composition, known as "phase separation".
[0007] Thus, there is a need for a stable two-phase or bi-phase composition that has two visually distinct phases when unmixed, which can be converted to a single-phase composition upon mixing, which can provide good cosmetic benefits, such as good makeup removal ability, without discomfort, and which can be cleanly returned to its initial state, i.e., a two-phase or bi-phase composition. [0026] After extensive investigation, the inventors have discovered that it is possible to provide a stable two-phase composition that can be converted to a single-phase composition by mixing at the time of use, where the single-phase composition can provide good cosmetic benefits, such as good make-up removal ability, without discomfort, and that can cleanly revert back to a two-phase composition when not in use.
[0027] Thus, one aspect of the present invention is a method for producing a medicament comprising the steps of: (a) an oily phase comprising at least one oil; (b) a compound represented by the following formula (I):
[0028] [ka]
[0029] (In the formula, R5, R6, and R7 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a C1-C6 alkyl group, or a C1-C6 alkoxy group, provided that at least one of R5, R6, and R7 represents a hydroxyl group; R represents a C1-C6 alkyl group or an aryl group. At least one aromatic ketone compound represented by (c) at least one polyhydroxy acid or salt thereof; (d) Water, and (e) at least one polyglyceryl fatty acid ester an aqueous phase comprising The present invention relates to a two-phase composition comprising:
[0030] The composition according to the present invention is stable and has two visually distinct phases when not mixed. On the other hand, the composition according to the present invention can be converted into a single-phase composition when mixed. A single-phase composition such as an emulsion can provide good cosmetic effects such as good makeup removal without discomfort. A single-phase composition can be easily converted back into a two-phase composition.
[0031] The compositions according to the present invention are stable so that the oily and aqueous phases can be kept separate when not mixed, and thus the two-phase or bi-phase appearance of the compositions according to the present invention can be maintained during storage of the compositions according to the present invention.
[0032] In particular, the composition according to the present invention can be stable such that the appearance and / or smell of the composition can remain unchanged for a long time under various temperature and storage conditions. For example, the composition according to the present invention can be stable at low or high temperatures, with or without shaking.Accordingly, the composition according to the present invention can be appropriately stored, especially at low or high temperatures, even during transportation by car, which may cause vibration, etc.
[0033] When used, the composition according to the present invention is mixed. The two phases in the composition according to the present invention are an oily phase that contains at least one oil and an aqueous phase that contains water. Therefore, when the composition according to the present invention is mixed, one of the two phases can be dispersed in the other phase to form an O / W or W / O composition, such as an O / W or W / O emulsion that is visually uniform or forms a single phase.
[0034] The mixing of the composition according to the present invention can be easily carried out. For example, the mixing of the composition according to the present invention can be carried out by shaking by hand. After mixing the composition according to the present invention, the composition forms a single phase and can be maintained for a certain period of time without being mixed again.
[0035] According to the present invention, the single-phase composition formed by the two-phase composition can provide good cosmetic effects such as good makeup removal ability. Therefore, the composition according to the present invention can be used as a cosmetic composition, preferably a cleansing cosmetic composition, more preferably a cleansing cosmetic composition for skin and eyelashes.
[0036] Furthermore, the single-phase composition formed by the two-phase composition according to the present invention can penetrate slowly into porous substrates such as cotton sheets used to remove makeup. The slow penetration can cause more of the single-phase composition to remain on the substrate. Thus, a larger amount of the single-phase composition can effect better makeup removal.
[0037] Furthermore, the single-phase composition formed by the two-phase composition according to the present invention can be comfortable, e.g., less irritating. Thus, the composition according to the present invention can be, for example, gentle on the skin, especially on sensitive skin, such as the skin around the eyes. Accordingly, the composition according to the present invention can provide good cosmetic effects, such as good make-up removal, without discomfort.
[0038] If a two-phase composition according to the present invention prior to mixing is transparent, the single-phase composition formed by mixing the two-phase composition may also be transparent.
[0039] The single-phase composition formed by the two-phase composition according to the present invention can be converted back to a two-phase composition again after a certain period of time by causing phase separation to reform two visually distinct phases again. If the conversion speed is too fast, phase separation may occur even during use, which may cause the cosmetic effect of the present invention to be reduced. According to the present invention, the conversion speed is appropriate and can be relatively slow, so that phase separation during use can be prevented. As a result, the present invention can provide enhanced cosmetic effect.
[0040] According to the invention, it is also possible that the two returned phases are clean so that droplets that may be formed by one of the oily or aqueous phases, among other phases, cannot adhere to the walls of the container containing the composition according to the invention after phase separation.
[0041] The compositions according to the invention are especially useful as make-up removers, preferably make-up removers for keratin fibres, more preferably make-up removers for the eyelashes, ie for mascara.
[0042] The composition according to the present invention will now be described in detail.

[0310] [Table 1B]
[0311] [evaluation] The compositions according to Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Example 1 were evaluated as follows.
[0312] (eye discomfort) Each composition according to Examples 1-2 and Comparative Example 1 was shaken to form an emulsion. The emulsion was applied onto the skin around the eyes of 10 panelists using a cotton sheet by massaging the area around the eyes with the cotton sheet in a circular motion for 30 seconds.
[0313] Ten panelists rated eye discomfort during the above applications.
[0314] The results are shown in Table 1.
[0315] (skin discomfort) Each composition according to Examples 1-2 and Comparative Example 1 was shaken to form an emulsion. 4 ml of the emulsion was applied onto the skin around the eyes of 10 panelists using a cotton sheet by massaging the area around the eyes with the cotton sheet in a circular motion for 30 seconds.
[0316] Ten panelists rated the skin discomfort during the above applications.
[0317] The results are shown in Table 1.
[0318] (Water-resistant mascara removal ability) A water-resistant mascara product (MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Volum'Express Hypercurl Waterproof N 01 Black) was applied to the imitation eyelashes with a brush in a total of 30 strokes (each stroke was dipped into a bottle containing the mascara product). After 5 minutes, the above 30 stroke application was repeated. The mascara on the imitation eyelashes was then dried at 40°C for 30 minutes. The mass of the imitation eyelashes with mascara was measured. The mass of the mascara applied to the imitation eyelashes was determined by subtracting the mass of the original eyelashes without mascara from the mass of the imitation eyelashes with mascara.
[0319] Each composition according to Examples 1-2 and Comparative Example 1 was shaken to form an emulsion. 4 ml of the emulsion was absorbed into 1 g of a cotton sheet. The cotton sheet was applied to the artificial eyelashes and moved along the artificial eyelashes to remove the mascara from the artificial eyelashes using an instrument (Tribo-Master TL201Sa) under the following conditions: Input amount: 450g Travel distance: 30mm Speed: 1,200mm / min Number of repetitions: 40
[0320] The artificial eyelashes were dried and their weight was measured. The amount of mascara removed was determined by subtracting the weight of the artificial eyelashes after the above removal procedure from the weight of the artificial eyelashes with mascara before the above removal procedure.
[0321] The removal efficiency (%) was calculated by the following formula: Mass of mascara removed / mascara applied x 100
[0322] The results are shown in Table 1 in the row entitled "Waterproof mascara removal ability."
[0323] (Latex mascara removal ability) The above protocol for the above water-resistant mascara product was repeated except that the water-resistant mascara was replaced with a latex mascara (MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Lashionista Care+).
[0324] The results are shown in Table 1 in the row "Latex mascara removal ability."
