Abstract

To grind a plurality of continuous tapered surfaces to be thinned as much as possible, without causing deterioration in deflection accuracy at a tip of a rod-like workpiece allowing elastic deformation.SOLUTION: A centerless grinding method includes the steps of: arranging an abrasive wheel 2 at a diameter position corresponding to a tapered shape of a larger diameter than a second tapered surface 102; finishing a first tapered surface 101 by making a workpiece 100 advance in a state of being supported by a second adjustment wheel 4; arranging the abrasive wheel 2 at a diameter position corresponding to a finished shape of the second tapered surface 102; and finishing a section from a boundary 103 to the second tapered surface 102 by making the workpiece 100 advance again in a state of being supported by the second adjustment wheel 4. An outer peripheral surface 41 of the second adjustment wheel 4 is inclined so as to correspond to the second tapered surface 102, and is arranged at a diameter position corresponding to a finished shape of the second tapered surface 102, at least when finishing the first tapered surface 101.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
