Improved temperature profile for external heating

Abstract

An aerosol generating device (1000) for generating an aerosol from an aerosol-forming substrate (202). The aerosol generating device is configured to generate an aerosol during a use session. The aerosol generating device comprises a timer, a heater assembly (102) comprising a heater element for heating the aerosol-forming substrate, a power source (106) configured to supply power to the heater assembly, and a controller. At least a portion of the use session is divided into n consecutive time intervals. The controller is configured to limit the power supplied to the heater assembly during any or each of the n consecutive time intervals so as not to exceed a threshold energy for that time interval.
