[0036] The VBUS power supply circuit 212 is configured with a DC-DC converter and the like that generates a VBUS voltage from the electromotive force of the battery 214 of the power supply device 200. The battery 214 is built-in to supply power for operating the power supply device 200 and is configured with a lithium ion battery or the like. The USB connector 211 and the CC communication interface circuit 213 are similar to the USB connector 201 and the CC communication interface circuit 203, respectively.
[0037] The control unit 215 has a processor (CPU) and a memory that performs arithmetic processing and control processing of the power supply device 200, and controls each component of the power supply device 200 by executing a control program stored in the memory.
[0038] The control unit 215 negotiates power supply in accordance with the USB PD standard with the imaging device 100, and transmits and receives power supply information of the power supply device 200 and remaining amount information of the battery 214, via the CC communication interface circuit 213. In this embodiment, the remaining amount information of the battery 214 corresponds to first remaining amount information related to the power that can be supplied from the power supply device 200.
[0039] Next, the configuration of the display control unit 300 of the control unit 101 of this embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
[0040] Each function of the display control unit 300 is configured with hardware and / or software. When each functional unit shown in FIG. 3 is configured with hardware instead of software, it is sufficient to have a circuit configuration corresponding to each functional unit in FIG.
[0041] The display control unit 300 includes a serial communication unit 301 , a communication standard determination unit 302 , a display precision switching unit 303 , a remaining amount information calculation unit 304 , and a display data generation unit 305 .
[0042] The serial communication unit 301 is configured with a serial communication circuit such as I2C, and is connected to the CC communication interface circuit 203. The serial communication unit 301 acquires remaining amount information of the battery 214 from the power supply equipment 200 via the CC communication interface circuit 203.
[0043] The communication standard determination unit 302 determines the revision of the communication standard of the CC communication interface circuit 203 via the serial communication unit 301, and determines the reliability of the remaining capacity information of the battery 214 based on the revision of the communication standard. The revision of the communication standard can be determined from the version information of the communication standard, and the reliability of the remaining capacity information of the battery 214 is determined, for example, by referring to a table stored in the non-volatile memory 103 for evaluating the reliability of the remaining capacity information of the battery 214 for each revision of the communication standard.
[0044] The display accuracy switching unit 303 switches the display accuracy of the second remaining amount information generated by the display data generating unit 305, which will be described later, according to the determination result by the communication standard determination unit 302. In this embodiment, the operable time of the imaging device 100 calculated based on the remaining amount information of the battery 214 corresponds to the second remaining amount information.
[0045] In the following description, the remaining amount information of the battery 214 of the power supply equipment 200 is referred to as first remaining amount information, and the operable time of the imaging device 100 calculated based on the remaining amount information of the battery 214 is referred to as second remaining amount information.
[0046] The remaining amount information calculation unit 304 calculates second remaining amount information based on the first remaining amount information acquired from the power supply device 200 by the serial communication unit 301 and the power consumption of the imaging device 100. The display data generation unit 305 generates display data to be output to the display unit 105 based on the second remaining amount information calculated by the remaining amount information calculation unit 304.
[0047] Next, a method for calculating the second remaining amount information based on the first remaining amount information acquired from the power supply equipment 200 and the power consumption of the imaging device 100 will be described.
[0048] The calculated operable time T [min], which is the second remaining information, can be calculated using the following equation 1, with the first remaining information C [mAh], the current consumption I [mA] of the imaging device 100, the margin capacity M [mAh], and the correction coefficient K as parameters. (Formula 1) T = (CM) x K / I x 60 Next, with reference to FIG. 4, a display form of the second remaining amount information in which the display accuracy is switched depending on the reliability of the first remaining amount information in this embodiment will be described.
[0049] In this embodiment, the second remaining amount information includes a plurality of display forms. The plurality of display forms include a first display form and a second display form. The first display form is an icon imitating the shape of a battery as exemplified in Figs. 4(a1), (b1), and (c1). The second display form is the remaining operation time of the imaging device 100 as exemplified in Figs. 4(a2), (b2), and (c2).
[0050] The first display form is displayed in different forms based on the reliability of the first remaining amount information. In the example of FIG. 4, the different forms are the fineness (granularity) of the icon pattern, but may also be forms with different gradations, colors, etc. In the example of FIG. 4, the finer the icon pattern is in the order of (a1), (b1), and (c1) in FIG. 4, the higher the reliability of the first remaining amount information and the more accurate the second remaining amount information. Conversely, the coarser the icon pattern is, the lower the reliability of the first remaining amount information and the more inaccurate the second remaining amount information.
[0051] The second display form increases or decreases the minimum unit time of the operable time based on the reliability of the first remaining amount information. In the example of FIG. 4, the minimum unit time is a unit time representing the operable time, but may be information indicating other time divisions. The shorter the minimum display unit, the higher the reliability of the first remaining amount information and the more accurate the operable time. Conversely, the longer the minimum unit time, the lower the reliability of the first remaining amount information and the more inaccurate the operable time. In the example of FIG. 4, when the minimum display unit in FIG. 4(a2) is 1 minute, the reliability of the first remaining amount information is the highest and the operable time is also the most accurate, and when the minimum display unit in FIG. 4(c2) is 10 minutes, the reliability of the first remaining amount information is the lowest and the more inaccurate the operable time. Furthermore, when the minimum unit time in Figure 4(b2) is 5 minutes, the reliability of the first remaining amount information is higher and the operating time is more accurate than when the minimum display unit is 10 minutes in Figure 4(c2), but this means that the reliability of the first remaining amount information is lower and the operating time is less accurate than when the minimum display unit is 1 minute in Figure 4(a2).
[0052] In this way, the user can recognize the accuracy and reliability of the second remaining amount information in the second display form by looking at the first display form. Note that, although the example in Fig. 4 shows an example in which three types of levels can be set as the level of display accuracy, three or more types of levels may be set.
[0053] Next, the display control process performed by the imaging device 100 will be described with reference to FIG.
[0054] 5 is realized by the control unit 101 executing a program stored in the non-volatile memory 103 to function as the display control unit 300 and control each component of the imaging device 100. The control unit 101 starts the process when the imaging device 100 is connected to the power supply device 200 and the power is turned on to start up the system.
[0055] In step S501 , the serial communication unit 301 starts communication with the power supply equipment 200 via the CC communication interface circuit 203 .
[0056] In step S502, communication standard determination unit 302 determines version information of the standard of the communication started in step S501, and determines the reliability of the first remaining amount information acquired from power supply device 200 based on the determination result. Communication standard determination unit 302 determines that the newer the version information of the communication standard, the higher the reliability of the first remaining amount information, for example, by referring to a table for evaluating the reliability of the first remaining amount information for each revision of the communication standard stored in non-volatile memory 103.
[0057] In step S503, based on the reliability of the first remaining amount information determined in step S502, display accuracy switching unit 303 sets the display accuracy of the second remaining amount information generated by display data generating unit 305. Based on the reliability of the first remaining amount information determined in step S502, display accuracy switching unit 303 sets the display accuracy of the second remaining amount information to the first display form and the second display form exemplified in FIG.
[0058] In step S504 , the remaining amount information calculation unit 304 acquires the first remaining amount information from the power supply equipment 200 via the serial communication unit 301 .
[0059] In step S505, the remaining amount information calculation unit 304 calculates second remaining amount information based on the first remaining amount information acquired from the power supply equipment 200 in step S504.
[0060] In step S506, the display data generating unit 305 generates display data based on the second remaining amount information calculated in step S505, and displays the generated display data on the display unit 105.
[0061] In step S507, the control unit 101 determines whether to continue communication with the power supply device 200, and if it is determined that the communication is to be continued, the process returns to step S504, and if it is determined that the communication is not to be continued, the process ends. For example, the control unit 101 stops communication when the power supply of the imaging device 100 is turned off or when removal of the USB cable is detected, and otherwise determines to continue communication.
[0062] As described above, according to the present embodiment, the reliability of the first remaining amount information acquired from the power supply device 200 is determined according to the revision of the communication standard between the imaging device 100 and the power supply device 200, and the display accuracy of the second remaining amount information in the imaging device 100 is switched according to the determination result. This allows the user to recognize the difference in reliability between the first remaining amount information acquired from the power supply device and the second remaining amount information calculated from the first remaining amount information, and to make appropriate preparations, thereby reducing the situation in which operation is unintentionally restricted.
[0063] The version of the communication standard in step S502 in FIG. 5 may be determined by referring to a unique bit that indicates the revision of the communication standard, or may be determined from the storage format of the first remaining amount information or a corresponding command.
[0064] In addition, the reliability of the first remaining information in step S502 in the figure and the display accuracy of the second remaining information in step S502 may be determined based on the release date of the revision of the communication standard, or whether it is a revision of a specific communication standard, and then determined and set based on the results of that determination.
[0065] Furthermore, the user may be able to select via the operation unit 104 whether or not to calculate and display the second remaining amount information in steps S505 and S506 in FIG.
[0066] In addition, the calculation and display of the second remaining information in steps S505 and S506 of FIG. 5 may be performed only for the first remaining information obtained via a general-purpose interface such as USB, and not for the remaining information of battery 120 connected via a dedicated interface. [Other embodiments] The present invention can also be realized by a process in which a program for implementing one or more of the functions of the above-described embodiments is supplied to a system or device via a network or a storage medium, and one or more processors in a computer of the system or device read and execute the program. The present invention can also be realized by a circuit (e.g., ASIC) that implements one or more of the functions.
[0067] The invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications and variations are possible without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the following claims are appended to apprise the public of the scope of the invention.
