[0009] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

[0010] The heat retention device 1 of this embodiment has a divided structure in which a plurality of divided bodies 10 are combined and arranged to surround the outer peripheral surface of an object to be insulated, such as piping in a nuclear power generation facility, an experimental nuclear reactor, or other various nuclear-related facilities.

[0011] Here, in the first embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 8, two divided bodies 10 are combined in the circumferential direction to surround the outer peripheral surface of a pipe or the like. In the second embodiment shown in Figures 9 to 16, four divided bodies 10 are combined in the circumferential direction to surround the outer peripheral surface of a pipe or the like. In the third embodiment shown in Figures 17 to 24, sixteen divided bodies 10 are combined in the circumferential direction to surround the outer peripheral surface of a pipe or the like.

[0012] In these embodiments, each divided body 10 is configured to be combined to form a cylinder surrounding the outer peripheral surface of a pipe or the like (see Figures 6, 14, and 22), but the number of divided bodies 10 constituting the heat retention device 1, i.e., the number of divisions of the heat retention device 1, can be selected appropriately depending on the diameter, shape, etc. of the pipe or the like.

[0013] Further, each divided body 10 is configured to be connected along the circumferential direction by connectors 20a, 20b provided on the circumferential end side so as to surround the outer circumferential surface of the pipe or the like. Although not particularly shown, a connector may be provided on the longitudinal end side of each divided body 10 to connect them along the longitudinal direction of the pipe or the like. In this manner, each divided body 10 can be detachably attached to the pipe or the like.

[0014] Although not particularly shown, the heat retention device 1 can be configured, for example, by stacking a plurality of thin metal plates inside a metal casing to reduce heat conduction due to air convection inside the casing and suppress radiative heat transfer with the thin metal plates, thereby exerting heat insulation performance. As the thin metal plates to be arranged inside the casing, those processed to be suitable for use in this type of heat retention device 1, as described in Patent Documents 1 and 2, etc., can be appropriately used.

[0015] The casing is preferably formed into a predetermined shape using a metal plate such as a stainless steel plate having low thermal conductivity, and includes an inner plate portion 11 and an outer plate portion 12 formed to be curved along the outer peripheral surface of a pipe or the like. The inner plate portion 11 is assembled so as to face the pipe or the like, and the outer plate portion 12 is assembled so that a space for accommodating a laminate of thin metal plates is formed between the inner plate portion 11 and the outer plate portion 12. When a metal plate is used for the casing, it is preferable that the thickness is as thin as possible so as to reduce thermal conduction, but considering its strength, workability, etc., the thickness is preferably about 0.4 to 0.8 mm.

[0016] Furthermore, the casing includes a side closure portion 13 disposed on an end surface on the circumferential side and an end closure portion 14 disposed on an end surface on the longitudinal side, and these closure portions 13, 14 are provided with a plurality of through holes 30 penetrating the closure portions 13, 14 so as to reduce the heat transfer area. Then, on the inside of these closure portions 13, 14, it is preferable to laminate a partition portion 40 that is lighter than the closure portions 13, 14, in particular, a partition portion 40 that is lighter than the closure portions 13, 14 and has low thermal conductivity, and more specifically, it is preferable to laminate a partition portion 40 made of a metal foil made of stainless steel or aluminum having a thickness of about 40 to 60 μm. In this way, the through holes 30 are blocked with a metal foil with relatively low thermal conductivity, so that air is retained in the casing, and the heat insulating performance is not impaired. These components forming the casing may be joined by, for example, welding, but if materials that are not suitable for joining by welding are used, the components may be joined by rivets, with joining materials interposed between them as necessary. In the illustrated example, the through holes 30 provided in the side closure portions 13 are omitted.

[0017] In this embodiment, the end closure portion 14 is made of a flat plate member having inner and outer edges formed in an arc shape corresponding to the curved edges of the inner plate portion 11 and the outer plate portion 12, and having a plurality of through holes 30 penetrating in the thickness direction. As described above, a stainless steel plate having low thermal conductivity can be used as such a flat plate member. When providing the through holes 30 in the end closure portion 14, a non-penetrating portion where no through holes 30 are provided is prevented from continuing in a straight line between the inner edge and the outer edge of the end closure portion 14 except for both side edges.

[0018] The through holes 30 thus provided in the end closure part 14 are preferably provided to have an oval or rectangular long hole shape, and preferably have arc-shaped sides along the inner edge or the outer edge. The through holes 30 are preferably provided so that a plurality of rows in which the through holes 30 are arranged on the extension lines of each other are arranged concentrically with the inner edge or the outer edge. In particular, it is preferable to arrange the through holes 30 in two adjacent rows so that the non-penetrating portions between the through holes 30 arranged periodically along the circumferential direction in one row are located at or near the longitudinal center of the through holes 30 in the other row (see Figs. 5, 13, and 21).

[0019] According to this embodiment, heat from the object to be insulated can be effectively prevented from being conducted in a straight line from the inner edge to the outer edge of the end closure portion 14, thereby further reducing heat conduction in the end closure portion 14.

[0020] In order to more effectively exert such an effect, it is preferable to arrange the through holes 30 in each row arranged concentrically with the inner edge or the outer edge so that the interval between adjacent through holes 30 in the circumferential direction, i.e., the length L1 of the non-penetrating portion between the through holes 30, is 2 to 4 mm. Furthermore, it is preferable to arrange the through holes 30 so that the interval between the rows, i.e., the length L2 of the non-penetrating portion between the through holes 30 in one row and the through holes 30 in the other row of two adjacent rows, is 2 to 4 mm. FIG. 25 is an enlarged view of the part surrounded by the dashed line in FIG.

[0021] By shortening the lengths L1, L2 of the non-penetrating portions as much as possible while maintaining the strength of the end closure portion 14, it is possible to further reduce heat conduction, and also to reduce the weight of the end closure portion 14, making it easier to handle the heat retention device 1.

[0022] Although the present invention has been described above by showing preferred embodiments, it goes without saying that the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments and that various modifications can be made within the scope of the present invention.

[0023] For example, each component forming the casing, particularly the side closure portion 13 and the end closure portion 14, is not limited to being made of stainless steel plate, and may be made of a material such as titanium that has a lower thermal conductivity and a smaller specific gravity.

[0024] Furthermore, depending on the temperature range that the heat retention device 1 can handle, at least a part of the casing, particularly the end closure portion 14, can be made of a non-metallic material. More specifically, non-metallic materials can be used, such as ceramics such as zirconia and quartz glass, general-purpose plastics such as acrylic and polypropylene, engineering plastics such as polycarbonate, fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP), and carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite materials. By using a non-metallic material that has sufficient strength to withstand use, and has a lower thermal conductivity and a smaller specific gravity than metals, the heat insulation performance can be further improved and the weight can be further reduced.

[0025] Similarly, the partition portion 40 that closes the multiple through holes 30 that penetrate the closure portions 13 and 14 can be made of non-metallic materials such as ceramics such as zirconia and quartz glass, general-purpose plastics such as acrylic and polypropylene, engineering plastics such as polycarbonate, fiber reinforced plastics (FRP), carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), and carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite materials.
