Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a method for changing settings of a battery pack, a device for changing battery settings, and a computer program stored on a recording medium for executing the method for changing battery settings. [Background technology]

[0002] Recently, as the demand for portable electronic products such as laptops, video cameras, and mobile phones has increased dramatically and the development of energy storage batteries, robots, satellites, etc. has progressed in earnest, research into high-performance secondary batteries that can be repeatedly charged and discharged is being actively conducted.

[0003] Currently commercially available secondary batteries include nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, nickel-zinc batteries, and lithium secondary batteries. Of these, lithium secondary batteries are attracting attention due to the advantages they have over nickel-based secondary batteries, such as almost no memory effect, freedom to charge and discharge, a very low self-discharge rate, and high energy density.

[0004] Batteries including the above-mentioned secondary batteries are used in various sets such as automobiles, small vacuum cleaners, and electric bicycles (e-bikes), and the protection operation setting values and setting values related to the usage conditions such as output of the battery pack included in the set are determined when the battery pack is developed and recorded in a BMS (battery management system), and the battery pack is operated based on the recorded values. In this case, when the operating conditions of the new set are changed, such as when an existing battery pack is used in the new set, a new battery pack for the new set must be developed. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] The problem to be solved by the present invention is to overcome the above-mentioned problems, and to provide a method for changing the setting value of a battery pack, a battery setting value changing device, and a computer program stored on a recording medium for executing the battery setting value changing method.

[0007] As a technical means for achieving the above technical objective, there is provided a method for changing a setting value of a battery pack included in a set, the method including a step of a BMS (battery management system) included in the battery pack acquiring a first authentication key from the set, a step of the BMS authenticating the set based on the first authentication key, and a step of the BMS changing a setting value related to the operation of the battery pack with a pre-set value based on whether the set is authenticated.

[0008] According to one example, authenticating the set also includes verifying the first authentication key indicating mutual authentication between the set and the BMS, and verifying the set based on the first authentication key.

[0009] According to another example, the step of changing the setting value also includes a step of changing the setting value of the battery pack with a pre-defined user value corresponding to the set if the BMS confirms the first authentication key, and a step of changing the setting value of the battery pack with a pre-defined base value if the BMS cannot confirm the first authentication key.

[0010] According to yet another example, the method for changing a battery setting value according to an embodiment of the present invention may further include a step of the BMS receiving a second authentication key from the set requesting a change in a setting value of the battery pack, and a step of the BMS changing the setting value of the battery pack based on a change request value received from the set in response to whether the second authentication key is confirmed.

[0011] According to yet another example, the step of changing the setting value of the battery pack based on the change request value may include a step of confirming whether the change request value falls within a range of minimum and maximum setting values preset for the battery pack, and a step of changing the setting value of the battery pack if the change request value falls within a range of minimum and maximum setting values preset for the battery pack.

[0012] According to yet another example, the step of changing the setting value of the battery pack based on the change request value may further include a step of updating a pre-defined user value corresponding to the set with the change request value.

[0013] As a technical means for achieving the above technical object, a computer program stored on a recording medium is provided for making a computing device execute the above method.

[0014] As a technical means for achieving the above-mentioned technical object, there is provided a device for changing a setting value of a battery pack provided in a set, the device including a BMS (battery management system) that is provided in the battery pack, acquires a first authentication key from the set, authenticates the set based on the first authentication key, and changes a setting value related to the operation of the battery pack with a pre-set value based on whether the set is authenticated or not.

[0015] According to one example, the BMS may verify the first authentication key, which indicates mutual authentication between the set and the BMS, and verify the set based on the first authentication key.

[0016] According to another example, if the BMS confirms the first authentication key, it may change the setting value of the battery pack with a pre-defined user value corresponding to the set, and if the BMS cannot confirm the first authentication key, it may change the setting value of the battery pack with a pre-defined base value.

[0017] According to yet another example, the BMS may receive a second authentication key from the set requesting a change to a setting value of the battery pack, and, depending on whether the second authentication key is confirmed, may change the setting value of the battery pack based on the change request value received from the set.

[0018] According to yet another example, the BMS may check whether the change request value falls within a range between minimum and maximum setting values preset for the battery pack, and may change the setting value of the battery pack if the change request value falls within a range between minimum and maximum setting values preset for the battery pack.

[0019] According to yet another example, the BMS may update pre-configured user values corresponding to the set with the change request values. Effect of the Invention

[0020] According to the present invention, a method for effectively changing the settings of a battery pack, an apparatus therefor, and a computer program stored on a recording medium for executing the method can be provided, although it is needless to say that the scope of the present invention is not limited by such effects. [0025] 1 is a diagram illustrating a battery pack and a battery management system (BMS) provided in a set according to an embodiment of the present invention. For example, as shown in FIG 1, a battery pack 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention may represent a battery pack provided in a set 200. For example, the set 200 may be a device to which a battery pack is attached, such as a small vacuum cleaner, an e-bike, or a car.

[0026] 1, the device for changing battery setting values according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a BMS 110. Alternatively, the device for changing battery setting values according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a BMS 110 included in a battery pack 100 included in a set 200.

[0027] The set 200 may be set such that the battery pack setting values (e.g., protection operation setting values, output values, etc.) required for the battery pack 100 are different from each other according to the operation specifications of the set 200. Also, the battery pack 100 may have different setting values from each other according to the operation specifications of the set 200 provided therein. For example, the battery pack 100 includes at least one battery cell, which is also a rechargeable secondary battery. For example, the battery cell may include at least one selected from the group consisting of a nickel-cadmium battery, a lead-acid battery, a nickel metal hydride battery (NiMH), a lithium ion battery, a lithium polymer battery, etc. Also, although not shown in FIG. 1, the battery setting value changing device may further include a switch, a battery protection circuit, a fuse, a current sensor, a temperature sensor, etc. in addition to the BMS 110.

[0028] FIG. 2 is a block diagram that illustrates generally the components of a BMS according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0029] Referring to FIG. 2, the BMS 110 according to one embodiment of the present invention also includes a communication module 113, a processor 115 and a memory 117.

[0030] The processor 115 may control the operation of changing the setting values of the battery pack. For example, the processor 115 may change the setting values related to the operation of the battery pack with a preset value based on whether the set for the battery pack is authenticated.

[0031] For example, the processor 115 may be embodied in a form that selectively includes a processor, an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), other chipsets, logic circuits, registers, communication modems, and / or data processing devices known in the art to perform the operations of the BMS 110. The processor 115 may also perform basic arithmetic, logic, and input / output operations, for example, executing program code stored in memory. The processor 115 may store data in the memory 117 or load data stored in the memory 117.

[0032] The memory 117 is a recording medium readable by the processor 115 and may include a random access memory (RAM), a read-only memory (ROM), and a permanent mass storage device such as a disk drive. An operating system (OS) and at least one program or application code may be stored in the memory 117. Program code and data for a method of changing a battery setting value according to an embodiment of the present invention may be stored in the memory 117.

[0033] The BMS 110 also includes a communication module 113. For example, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the BMS 110 can use the communication module 113 to exchange data with the set 200.

[0034] The communication method of the communication module 113 is not limited, and includes not only a communication method utilizing a communication network that the network may include (for example, a mobile communication network, a wired Internet, a wireless Internet, and a broadcasting network), but also short-distance wireless communication between devices. For example, the network may include any one or more of networks such as a personal area network (PAN), a local area network (LAN), a campus area network (CAN), a metropolitan area network (MAN), a wide area network (WAN), a broadband network (BBN), and the Internet. The network may also include any one or more of network topologies including a bus network, a star network, a ring network, a mesh network, a star-bus network, a tree, or a hierarchical network, but is not limited thereto.

[0035] The battery setting value changing device according to the present invention also includes an input / output interface. The input / output interface is also a means for interfacing with an input / output device. For example, the input device may include a device such as a keyboard or a mouse, and the output device may include a device such as a display for displaying a communication session of an application. As another example, the input / output interface is also a means for interfacing with a device in which functions for input and output are integrated into one, such as a touch screen.

[0036] FIG. 3 is a block diagram that illustrates generally the values contained in a memory according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0037] 3, the memory 117 according to an embodiment of the present invention may also include a setting value of a protection operation function of the battery pack, a setting value of a charge / discharge function, and an authentication key of an authentication function. For example, as shown in FIG 3, the memory 117 according to an embodiment of the present invention may also include a default value, a user value, a minimum value, and a maximum value (for example, the minimum value and the maximum value may indicate a range of the setting value) of the protection operation function setting value of the battery pack.

[0038] The memory 117 also includes a basic value (default), a user value (user), a minimum value (Min), and a maximum value (Max) of the charging / discharging function setting values of the battery pack. The memory 117 also includes an authentication key for an authentication function of the battery pack. For example, the authentication function of the battery pack includes a function for authenticating a set of preset setting values and a function for authenticating a request for changing the setting values of the battery pack.

[0039] The authentication key according to an embodiment of the present invention also includes a first authentication key and a second authentication key. For example, the first authentication key may represent an authentication key for performing mutual authentication between the set and the BMS. Also, the second authentication key may represent an authentication key for authenticating whether the set is qualified to change the setting value of the BMS. For example, the authentication key may represent data according to an encryption method (e.g., SHA-Secure Hash Algorithm, ECC-Elliptic Curve Crytosystem, etc.) between the set and the BMS.

[0040] For example, the first authentication key may be transmitted from the set to the BMS when the battery pack included in the set is woken up while connected to the set. As another example, the first authentication key may be transmitted from the BMS to the set. Also, the second authentication key may be transmitted from the set to the BMS. For example, the second authentication key may be encrypted data including the first authentication key and encrypted data. In this case, the second authentication key transmitted by the set may go through a decryption process in the BMS and be decrypted with the first authentication key and encrypted data. If the values match, the BMS may proceed to a setting change mode and then change the setting value of the battery pack with the value transmitted by the set.

[0041] FIG. 4 is a flowchart illustrating a method for changing a battery setting value according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0042] Referring to FIG. 4, a flowchart of a method for changing a setting value of a battery pack included in a set according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown.

[0043] In step S110, the BMS included in the battery pack may obtain the first authentication key from the set. For example, the battery pack may obtain the first authentication key from the set after the battery pack is powered on. Or, the battery pack may transmit data requesting the first authentication key to the set after the battery pack is powered on. For example, the battery pack may transmit the first authentication key to the set.

[0044] In step S120, the BMS may authenticate the set based on a first authentication key. For example, the BMS may authenticate the set based on a first authentication key received from the set. For example, the first authentication key may be preset for each different set.

[0045] According to an embodiment of the present invention, a BMS may verify a first authentication key indicating mutual authentication between the set and the BMS. The BMS may also verify the set based on the first authentication key. For example, the BMS may verify set A based on a first authentication key corresponding to set A.

[0046] In step S130, the BMS may change a setting value related to the operation of the battery pack with a preset value based on whether the set is authenticated. For example, if the BMS authenticates set A based on the first authentication key, the BMS may change a setting value related to the operation of the battery pack with a preset setting value corresponding to set A.

[0047] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the BMS may change the setting values of the battery pack with a preset user value (user) corresponding to the set if the first authentication key is confirmed, and may change the setting values of the battery pack with a preset default value (default) if the BMS cannot confirm the first authentication key.

[0048] In addition, the BMS according to an embodiment of the present invention may receive a second authentication key from the set requesting a change in a setting value of the battery pack. The BMS may change the setting value of the battery pack based on the change request value received from the set in response to whether the second authentication key is confirmed. For example, the BMS may change a preset setting value corresponding to set A based on the second authentication key.

[0049] The BMS according to an embodiment of the present invention may check whether the change request value falls within a range between a minimum value (Min) and a maximum value (Max) of a setting value preset for the battery pack. If the change request value falls within a range between the minimum value and the maximum value of a setting value preset for the battery pack, the BMS may change the setting value of the battery pack. The BMS according to an embodiment of the present invention may also update a preset user value corresponding to the set with the change request value.

[0050] For example, as an example of changing the setting value of the battery pack, the BMS may change the setting value of the protection operation condition (over temperature protection, under voltage protection, over current protection, etc.) according to the discharge condition (discharge power or discharge current) of the battery pack. For example, due to the characteristics of a cell, a cell discharged at high power continues to radiate internal heat and the temperature rises even after the discharge is stopped. Therefore, the over temperature protection level must be lower in the high power mode compared to the low power mode.

[0051] The BMS according to an embodiment of the present invention obtains the range of temperature and time conditions for over temperature protection as the discharge power value for which a set value change is requested in the set, compares it with the temperature and time conditions for over temperature protection set in the set, and if it is within the allowable error, reflects the set value change, otherwise does not proceed with the setting change. For example, the end of discharge condition differs depending on the discharge power (3.0V@Low, 2.8xxV@High), but even in that case, the BMS obtains the range of the end of discharge condition with the discharge power value set in the set, compares it with the end of discharge condition for which a set value change is requested in the set, and if it is within the allowable error, reflects the set value change, otherwise does not proceed with the setting value change. Other protection operation conditions that may be subject to setting value changes include the linkage between current protection and over temperature protection, current protection based on charging current, and charge time protection.

[0052] 5 to 7 are diagrams illustrating a method for changing a battery setting value according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0053] The battery pack according to an embodiment of the present invention has setting values (Min, Max, default, user) that can be changed for the setting of the set. For example, as shown in Fig. 5, if the BMS cannot receive the first authentication key corresponding to set A from the set after the BMS is powered on, or receives an incorrect value, the battery pack may operate with a preset basic value (default). For example, as shown in Fig. 6, if the BMS receives the first authentication key corresponding to set A from set A, the battery pack may operate with a preset user value (user) for set A.

[0054] According to an embodiment of the present invention, when a BMS receives a second authentication key requesting a setting value change from a set after the battery pack is powered on, the BMS checks the second authentication key and then proceeds with a setting value change process. For example, as shown in Fig. 7, if a change request value (user2) received from the set is within a setting value range of the battery pack, the BMS may update the setting value of the battery pack to the change request value (user2). In this case, a user value (user) already set in the battery pack may be updated.

[0055] According to the present invention, when a battery pack produced to be mounted in an existing set A is mounted in a new set C, the settings of the battery pack can be changed to those corresponding to set C, so that the existing battery pack can be used without procedures such as remanufacturing the battery pack.

[0056] FIG. 8 is a flowchart illustrating a battery setting value changing method according to another embodiment of the present invention.

[0057] 8, in steps S210 and S215, the set 200 including the battery pack and the BMS 110 included in the battery pack may be powered on. For example, when the set 200 or the BMS 110 is powered on after being powered off, the set 200 or the BMS 110 may perform a set authentication operation.

[0058] In step S220, the set 200 may transmit a first authentication key to the BMS 110. Also, in step S230, the BMS 110 may authenticate the set 200 based on the first authentication key received from the set 200. For example, the operation of the battery pack has a function that cannot be changed by the set 200 and a function that can be changed. If the setting can be changed by the set 200, the BMS 110 has setting values (Min, Max, default, user) related to the operation of the battery pack. In this case, the initial value of the user value (user) is the same as the base value (default), and the user value (user) may be updated by the set 200 to a value within the setting value range.

[0059] For example, if set 200 has four discharge modes and therefore has a temperature protection setting associated with each mode, when set A increases the power in the discharge mode, BMS 110 may adjust the temperature protection setting accordingly (e.g., set B operates at the default value).

[0060] In step S233, if the BMS 110 authenticates that the battery pack is connected to set A, it may operate the battery pack with a preset user value (user). Also, in step S235, if the BMS 110 cannot authenticate that the battery pack is connected to set A (e.g., the battery pack is connected to set B), it may operate the battery pack with a preset default value (default). According to the present invention, one battery pack can be used in various sets through the set authentication function.

[0061] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the BMS 110 may proceed with the change process after authentication to prevent the setting value of the battery pack from being changed by an arbitrary set (fake set). In step S240, the set 200 may transmit a second authentication key to the BMS 110, requesting a change in the setting value of the battery pack. Then, in step S250, if the BMS 110 authenticates the second authentication key, it may change the setting value of the battery pack. In step S255, if the BMS 110 cannot authenticate the second authentication key, it may control the battery pack to operate with a default value set in advance.

[0062] In step S260, the set 200 may transmit a change request value to the BMS 110, requesting a change to a setting value of the battery pack. In step S270, the BMS 110 may determine whether the change request value received from the set 200 falls within a setting value range of the battery pack. In step S273, the BMS 110 may determine whether the change request value transmitted by the set is within a setting value range (Min to Max) and is not in conflict with other linked values, and may change the setting value. For example, the BMS 110 may issue a first authentication key to the set if the setting value is changed with the change request value at the request of the set 200.

[0063] According to the present invention, the settings of the battery pack (protection operation settings, output, etc.) can be safely changed in accordance with the operating specifications of the set. According to the present invention, the settings related to the operation of the battery pack can be changed at the request of the set.

[0064] The various embodiments described above are merely examples and should not be implemented separately from one another. The embodiments described in this specification may be implemented in combination with one another.

[0065] The various embodiments described above may be embodied in the form of a computer program that can be executed by various components on a computer, and such a computer program may be recorded on a computer-readable medium. In this case, the medium may continuously store the computer-executable program or may temporarily store the program for execution or download. The medium may be a recording means or storage means in the form of a single or multiple pieces of hardware combined, and is not limited to a medium directly connected to a computer system, but may be distributed over a network. Examples of the medium include magnetic media such as hard disks, floppy disks, and magnetic tapes; optical recording media such as compact disc read only memory (CD-ROM) and digital versatile disc (DVD); magneto-optical medium such as floptical disk; and read-only memory (ROM), random access memory (RAM), flash memory, etc., configured to store program instructions. Further examples of other media include app stores that distribute applications, and other recording media or storage media managed by sites or servers that supply or distribute a variety of software.

[0066] In this specification, a "module" or "unit" may be a hardware component such as a processor or a circuit, and / or a software component executed by a hardware component such as a processor. For example, a "module" or "unit" may be embodied by a software component, an object-oriented software component, a component such as a class component, and a task component, as well as a process, a function, an attribute, a procedure, a subroutine, a segment of program code, a driver, a firmware, a microcode, a circuit, data, a database, a data structure, a table, an array, and a variable.

[0067] The above description of the present invention is for illustrative purposes only, and a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the present invention pertains can easily understand that the present invention can be easily modified into other specific forms without changing the technical idea or essential features of the present invention.
