[0032] FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating a display device 100 related to the present invention.
[0033] The display device 100 includes a wireless communication unit 110, an input unit 120, a sensing unit 140, an output unit 150, a cooling unit 160, a memory 170, a control unit 180, and a power supply unit 190. The components illustrated in FIG. 1 are not essential for implementing the display device 100, and the display device 100 described herein may include more or less than the components described above.
[0034] More specifically, among the above-mentioned components, the wireless communication unit 110 includes one or more modules that enable wireless communication between the display device 100 and a wireless communication system, between the display device 100 and another display device 100, or between the display device 100 and an external server. The wireless communication unit 110 also includes one or more modules that connect the display device 100 to one or more networks.
[0035] The wireless communication unit 110 includes at least one of a mobile communication module, a wireless Internet module, and a short-range communication module.
[0036] The input unit 120 includes a camera 121 or a video input unit for inputting a video signal, a microphone 122 or an audio input unit for inputting an audio signal, and a user input unit 123 (e.g., a touch key, a mechanical key, etc.) for inputting information from a user. The voice data and image data collected by the input unit 120 are analyzed and processed as a user control command.
[0037] Recently, as the size of the bezel of the display device 100 becomes smaller, many display devices 100 have minimized the physical button-like input unit 130 that is exposed to the outside. Instead, a minimal physical button is located on the back or side, and detects a signal from a remote control device and receives user input through a touch pad or user input interface unit.
[0038] The sensing unit 140 includes one or more sensors for sensing at least one of information within the display device 100, information on the surrounding environment surrounding the display device 100, and user information. For example, the sensing unit 140 includes at least one of a proximity sensor, an illumination sensor, a touch sensor, an RGB sensor, an infrared sensor, a finger scan sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, an optical sensor (e.g., a camera (see 121)), a microphone (see 122), a battery gauge, an environmental sensor (e.g., a barometer, a hygrometer, a thermometer, a radiation detection sensor, a heat detection sensor, a gas detection sensor, etc.), and a chemical sensor (e.g., an electronic nose, a health care sensor, a biometric authentication sensor, etc.). Meanwhile, the display device 100 described in this specification utilizes information sensed by at least two or more of these sensors in combination.
[0039] The control unit 180 checks the status of the display device 100 based on the information collected by the sensing unit 140, and when a problem occurs, notifies the user or adjusts itself to maintain the best condition.
[0040] The output unit 150 is for generating an output related to a visual, an auditory, or a tactile sense, and includes at least one of a display 200 and an audio output unit 152. The display 200 is layered with a touch sensor or is integrally formed with the touch sensor to realize a touch screen. The touch screen functions as a user input unit 123 that provides an input interface between the display device 100 and a user, and also provides an output interface between the display device 100 and a user.
[0041] The display 200 may be a plasma display panel (PDP), a liquid crystal display (LCD), an organic light emitting diode (OLED), a flexible display, or a 3D display. The 3D display 200 may be classified into a glasses-free type and a glasses type.
[0042] On the other hand, the display 200 is configured as a touch screen, and can be used as an input device in addition to an output device.
[0043] As shown in FIG. 2, the display device 100 of the present invention can realize a large-screen display 200 by arranging a plurality of displays 200 in a lattice.
[0044] The cooling unit 160 refers to a component for dissipating heat inside the display device 100, and may include a heat pipe, a cooling fin, a circulation fan for promoting internal air circulation, a vent hole, and the like.
[0045] The display device 100 installed for the purpose of exhibition and advertisement operates for a long time and outputs high brightness so as to be easily visible from the outside. Therefore, since heat generated from the display 151 and the control unit 180 can affect each component of the display device 100 and cause breakdowns, a heat-proof structure that exhausts internal heat is very important.
[0046] Heat protection in the display device 100 can be realized in various ways. In the heat protection process, it can be divided into air-cooled and water-cooled depending on the object to which heat is transferred, and in the case of the air-cooled type, the surface area can be maximized by using heat-protection fins, etc., to improve heat protection efficiency, and in the case of the water-cooled type, the path and sealing of the heat transfer material can be guided using a structure such as a heat pipe, etc., to improve heat protection efficiency.
[0047] Such heat insulation and cooling methods may be used alone, or two or more of them may be used in combination as necessary.
[0048] The memory 170 also stores data supporting various functions of the display device 100. The memory 170 also stores a plurality of application programs (or applications) operated by the display device 100, and data and commands for the operation of the display device 100. At least some of the application programs are downloaded from an external server via wireless communication. At least some of the application programs are present on the display device 100 from the time of shipment for the basic functions of the display device 100 (e.g., functions of receiving and sending calls, functions of receiving and sending messages). Meanwhile, the application programs are stored in the memory 170 and installed on the display device 100, and are driven by the control unit 180 to perform the operations (or functions) of the display device 100.
[0049] In addition to operations related to the application programs described above, the controller 180 typically controls the overall operation of the display device 100. The controller 180 processes signals, data, information, etc. input or output by the components described above, or drives application programs stored in the memory 170 to provide or process appropriate information or functions to a user.
[0050] In addition, the controller 180 controls at least some of the components to run the application programs stored in the memory 170. In addition, the controller 180 operates at least two or more components included in the display device 100 in combination to run the application programs.
[0051] The control unit 180 includes at least one processor and uses the processor to control the overall operation of the display device 100. Here, the processor is a general processor such as a central processing unit (CPU). Of course, the processor may be a dedicated device such as an ASIC or other hardware-based processor.
[0052] The video signal that has been subjected to the video processing by the control unit 180 is input to the display 200, and is displayed as a video corresponding to the video signal.
[0053] The audio signal processed by the control unit 180 is acoustically output to the audio output unit 152. The audio signal processed by the control unit 180 is also input to an external output device via an external device interface unit.
[0054] The controller 180 controls the display device 100 according to a user command inputted through a user input interface or an internal program. Meanwhile, the controller 180 controls the display 200 to display an image. At this time, the image displayed on the display 200 is a still image or a moving image, and is a 2D image or a 3D image.
[0055] Meanwhile, the control unit 180 displays a predetermined 2D object in the image displayed on the display 200. For example, the object is at least one of a connected web screen (newspaper, magazine, etc.), an EPG (Electronic Program Guide), various menus, widgets, icons, still images, moving images, and text.
[0056] Meanwhile, the controller 180 modulates and / or demodulates a signal using an Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) method, which modulates a signal by changing the amplitude of a carrier wave according to a data value, or restores an analog signal to a digital data value according to the amplitude of the carrier wave.
[0057] For example, the control unit 180 modulates the video signal using the amplitude shift keying (ASK) method and transmits it via the wireless communication module.
[0058] For example, the control unit 180 demodulates and processes a video signal received via the wireless communication module using an amplitude shift keying (ASK) method.
[0059] This allows the display device 100 to easily send and receive signals with other adjacent video display devices without the need for a unique identifier such as a Media Access Control Address (MAC address) or a complex communication protocol such as TCP / IP.
[0060] The power supply unit 190 supplies power to the entire display device 100. In particular, the power supply unit 190 supplies power to a control unit 180 that can be implemented in the form of a system on chip (SOC), a display 200 for displaying images, and an audio output unit 152 for outputting audio.
[0061] Specifically, the power supply unit 190 includes a converter (not shown) for converting AC power to DC power, and a Dc / Dc converter (not shown) for converting the level of the DC power.
[0062] Meanwhile, the power supply unit 190 receives power from an external source and distributes the power to each component. The power supply unit 190 may be directly connected to an external power source to supply AC power, or may include a battery that can be charged and used.
[0063] At least some of the above-mentioned components cooperate with each other to implement the operation, control, or control method of the display device 100 according to various embodiments described below. In addition, the operation, control, or control method of the display device 100 is implemented on the display device 100 by running at least one application program stored in the memory 170.
[0064] That is, two or more components may be combined into one component, or one component may be divided into two or more components, as necessary. Also, the functions performed in each block are for the purpose of explaining the embodiments of the present invention, and the specific operations and devices do not limit the scope of the present invention.
[0065] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0066] The display device 100 of the present invention may be configured as a single module as a whole, as shown in FIG. 2(a), or multiple displays 200 may be arranged in a grid pattern on the cover bottom 102 to form a large screen, as shown in FIG. 2(b).
[0067] The display 200 is rectangular and has a horizontally long form, but there are also displays 200 that are rotatable or vertically long. For convenience of explanation, the following description will be based on a display device that is horizontally long, but is not limited to this.
[0068] FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of a display 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0069] Since the display 200 uses a thin substrate or sheet material, it is prone to bending deformation and breakage. The display includes a rear panel 240 that provides a heat insulating effect while supporting the rear surface of the display. The rear panel 240 is made of a metal material, and the rear panel 240 of the present invention includes a protruding bead on the front or rear surface.
[0070] The display 200 of the present invention includes a backlight unit (BLU) that provides light, and a display panel 210 that adds color to the light provided by the backlight unit (BLU) and outputs image information. The display panel 210 includes a liquid crystal panel that selectively transmits light, and a color filter for implementing color is disposed on the liquid crystal panel.
[0071] A guide panel 290 is used to align the positions of the backlight unit (BLU) and the display panel 210. The guide panel 290 is in the shape of a frame like a picture frame, and the display panel 210 is mounted on the front side and the backlight unit (BLU) is mounted on the rear side.
[0072] The backlight unit (BLU) includes a backlight substrate 220 on which light-emitting elements 227 that emit light are mounted, a reflector 250 positioned in front of the backlight substrate 220, and an optical sheet layer 260 including a diffusion plate 261 positioned in front of the reflector 250.
[0073] A plurality of light emitting diodes 227 are arranged in a lattice pattern on the backlight substrate 220. The backlight substrate 220 receives power and applies it to each light emitting diode 227 to provide light toward the display panel 210 located in front of the backlight substrate 220.
[0074] The silicon lens 226 is included so that the light emitted from the light emitting element 227 is spread over a predetermined range. The silicon lens 226 includes a light-transmitting material and a diffusing agent to enhance the diffusion effect. The silicon lens 226 covers the light emitting element 227 and is positioned in a predetermined area around the light emitting element 227.
[0075] 4 is a plan view showing a backlight substrate 220 of a backlight unit (BLU) according to an embodiment of the present invention. The backlight substrate 220 of the present invention includes a plurality of first substrates 221 arranged in parallel and spaced apart in a first direction D1 and extending in a second direction D2, instead of a solid rectangular plate material.
[0076] The plurality of first substrates 221 are disposed at predetermined intervals in a first direction, and the size of the space 223 in the second direction D2 is equal to or greater than the width in the second direction D2 of the first substrate 221. One side of the first substrate 221 includes a second substrate 222 connecting the plurality of first substrates 221, and the backlight substrate 220 is fork-shaped.
[0077] The first substrate 221 of the backlight substrate 220 does not necessarily have to be linear, but may be zigzag. As shown in Fig. 4, the second direction D2 may be the long side direction or the short side direction.
[0078] Figure 5 is a diagram showing a method for manufacturing the backlight substrate 220 of the present invention. As shown in Figure 5(a), a solid plate-shaped substrate is cut to form two fork-shaped backlight substrates 220 as shown in Figure 5(b). The solid plate-shaped substrate is cut into a snake shape to form two backlight substrates 220.
[0079] The fork-type backlight substrate 220 of the present invention can be realized using about half the area of a solid-type substrate, thereby reducing costs and product weight.
[0080] As shown in Figure 5(a), components such as light-emitting elements 227 and connectors are mounted on the substrate in a solid state using the SMT (Surface Mounter Technology) method, and then the substrate is cut and separated into two fork-type substrates as shown in Figure 5(b).
[0081] The diffusion plate 261 is required to change the light of the light emitting element 227, which is a point light source, into a surface light source. The diffusion plate 261 diffuses the light to provide uniform brightness to the display panel 210, and the optical sheet layer 260 is disposed at a predetermined distance from the light emitting element 227 so that the diffusion plate 261 sufficiently diffuses the light.
[0082] The optical sheet layer 260 including the diffusion plate 261 is made of a plurality of thin and transparent materials, and the guide panel 290 guides the optical sheet layer 260, the reflector 250, and the backlight substrate 220 so that they are aligned in the correct positions. A diffusion plate supporter 270 is provided to maintain a distance between the optical sheet layer 260 and the light emitting element 227.
[0083] The diffusion plate supporter 270 supports the optical sheet layer 260 so as to maintain a distance between the optical sheet layer 260 and the light emitting element 227. The diffusion plate supporter 270 is disposed at a position where the light emitting element 227 is not formed, and a plurality of diffusion plate supporters 270 are provided at predetermined intervals.
[0084] 4, the backlight unit (BLU) of the present invention has a diffusion plate supporter 270 disposed between first substrates 221 of a fork-type backlight substrate 220 by utilizing the space between the first substrates 221. The backlight unit (BLU) of this embodiment includes five diffusion plate supporters 270, but is not limited thereto.
[0085] The diffusion plate supporter 270 is fixed to the rear plate 240 (described later) and applies pressure to the reflector 250 located in front of the backlight substrate 220 to increase the fastening force between the reflector 250 , the backlight substrate 220 and the rear plate 240 .
[0086] If the light provided by the light emitting element 227 is reflected by the optical sheet layer 260 or the display panel 210 and is not emitted toward the front side, the light may be lost. If the light is lost, the brightness of the display device 100 decreases. Therefore, the reflector 250 is further provided so that all the light emitted from the light emitting element 227 is directed toward the front side.
[0087] 6 is a plan view showing a reflector 250 of a backlight unit (BLU) according to an embodiment of the present invention. The reflector 250 includes light source holes 251 exposing light emitting elements 227 formed on a backlight substrate 220, and the other areas have a highly reflective surface.
[0088] The end of the reflector 250 includes an inclined surface that is extended by a distance corresponding to the distance to the optical sheet layer 260. The end of the reflector 250 is seated on the rear surface of the guide panel 290 together with the optical sheet layer 260.
[0089] The reflector 250 is attached to the front surface of the backlight substrate 220 , and includes an adhesive tape 230 positioned on the front surface of the backlight substrate 220 to attach the backlight substrate 220 and the reflector 250 together.
[0090] 7 is a plan view showing an adhesive tape 230 of a backlight unit (BLU) according to an embodiment of the present invention. The adhesive tape 230 includes a light source hole 231 formed at a position corresponding to the light emitting element 227 so that the light emitting element 227 is exposed through the light source hole 251 of the reflector 250.
[0091] The light source hole 231 of the adhesive tape 230 is formed larger than the light source hole 251 of the reflector 250 so that the adhesive tape 230 is exposed through the light source hole 251 of the reflector 250 or does not overlap with the light emitting element 227 .
[0092] The adhesive tape 230 is not cut into a fork type like the backlight board 220. It is located on the front surface of the first board 221 and the second board 222 of the backlight board 220 and also between the first boards 221.
[0093] The adhesive tape 230 bonds the reflector 250 and the backlight substrate 220 together, and is attached to the front surface of the rear substrate 240 exposed in the space between the first substrates 221 to bond the rear substrate 240 and the reflector 250 together.
[0094] However, since the rear panel 240 is disposed to be spaced apart from the adhesive tape 230 by the thickness of the first substrate 221, the rear panel 240 of the present invention includes a first bead 241 protruding forward corresponding to the space 223 between the first substrates 221. Figure 8 is a plan view showing the rear panel 240 of a backlight unit (BLU) according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0095] The rear panel 240 is a structure for supporting the backlight substrate 220 and dissipating heat generated from the light emitting elements 227 mounted on the backlight substrate 220, and includes a metal material for rigidity and heat prevention efficiency. In the case of a wall-mounted display device 100 whose rear surface is not exposed to the outside, the rear panel 240 itself may form a rearmost structure of the display device 100.
[0096] The rear panel 240 of the present invention includes a plurality of first beads 241 protruding forward from an empty space between a substrate seating portion 243 on which the backlight substrate 220 is seated and the first substrate 221. The first beads 241 are formed by pressing a metal plate from one surface to the other, and as shown in the enlarged view of Fig. 8, the side surfaces of the first beads 241 include inclined surfaces along a zigzag shape.
[0097] The first beads 241 of this embodiment extend in the second direction D2 like the first substrate 221, and are spaced apart in the first direction D1. Substrate seating portions 243 on which the first substrate 221 is seated are formed between the first beads 241. The first beads 241 do not necessarily have to be continuous, and may be formed partially.
[0098] 8, the first bead 241 is omitted as it does not extend to the area (left side) where the second substrate 222 is located. The first bead 241 is formed only at the position where the fastening holes 244 and the fixing holes 245 for connecting the diffusion plate supporter 270 are formed.
[0099] 9 is a plan view showing a rear panel 240 of a backlight unit (BLU) according to another embodiment of the present invention. As an example of the rear panel 240 located on the rear side of the backlight substrate 220 including the zigzag-shaped first substrate 221 described above, substrate seating portions 243 are located in accordance with the shape of the backlight substrate 220, and first beads 241 are disposed therebetween.
[0100] As in the embodiment of FIG. 8, it is easy to form a continuous first bead 241 in a straight line, but in this embodiment, it is difficult to form the first bead 241 in a zigzag shape, so it is configured as a plurality of interrupted first beads 241 arranged in only one direction.
[0101] FIG. 10 is an enlarged view showing a backlight substrate 220 seated on a rear panel 240, in which a first bead 241 is positioned between the first substrates 221, and the space between the first substrates 221 where the first bead 241 is not formed has the same height as the substrate seating portion 243.
[0102] An end 221b (see FIG. 11) of the first substrate 221 in the first direction D1 has a protruding structure (not shown) due to burrs generated when processing the backlight substrate 220. The burrs protruding from the rear surface of the backlight substrate 220 cause a separation space between the rear panel 240 and the backlight substrate 220.
[0103] In order to provide a space in which the burrs are disposed, a second bead 242 protruding toward the rear side is further included between the first bead 241 and the board seat 243. Referring to the enlarged perspective view on the right side of Fig. 8, the first bead 241, the second bead 242, the board seat 243, and the second bead 242 are disposed in this order in the first direction D1.
[0104] 11 is a partially enlarged view of a backlight unit (BLU) according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 10, after the backlight substrate 220 is mounted on the rear plate 240, an adhesive tape and a reflector 250 are attached to the front.
[0105] 11, not only are the reflector 250 and the backlight substrate 220 connected by the adhesive tape 230, but the first bead 241 of the rear plate 240 is also connected to the reflector 250 by the adhesive tape 230. The height difference between the substrate seat 243 and the first bead 241 is formed to correspond to the thickness of the backlight substrate 220, and the first bead 241 of the rear plate 240 and the backlight substrate 220 are attached to the reflector 250 by the adhesive tape 230.
[0106] 12 and 13 are diagrams showing a method of assembling the diffusion plate supporter 270. The diffusion plate supporter 270 of the present invention is inserted into the fastening holes 244 of the rear plate 240 after the reflection plate 250, the backlight substrate 220, and the rear plate 240 are assembled.
[0107] The reflector 250 further includes a light source hole 251 exposing the light emitting element 227, as well as a support hole 252 exposing the fastening hole 244 and the fixing hole 245 of the rear plate 240. The support hole 252 of the reflector 250 is formed small so as to expose only the fastening hole 244 and the fixing hole 245 in order to minimize the size, as shown in Fig. 12. The adhesive tape 230 also includes a support hole 232, and the support hole 232 of the adhesive tape 230 is formed larger than the support hole 252 of the reflector 250.
[0108] The diffusion plate supporter 270 includes a support protrusion 271 that contacts the lower surface of the optical sheet layer 260, and a supporter hook 272 into which the rear plate 240 is inserted into the fastening hole 244. After the supporter hook 272 extends downward, the hook end 272e is bent upward and extends in the second direction D2 or a third direction D3 that is opposite to the second direction D2.
[0109] 12 shows a form in which the supporter hooks 273 of the diffusion plate supporter 270 extend in the third direction D3. The diffusion plate supporters 270 are arranged such that the directions of the supporter hooks 272 face in the opposite directions to each other.
[0110] The hook has a flat surface at the bottom end to minimize a structure protruding in the rear direction of the rear plate 240. The fastening hole 244 has a size equal to or larger than the width of the supporter hook 272 in the second direction D2, and the supporter hook 272 is inserted into the fastening hole 244.
[0111] The elastic portion 273 extends in the second direction D2 and the third direction D3 between the supporter hook 272 and the support protrusion 271. The end of the elastic portion 273 is bent toward the rear side, and the end contacts the front side of the reflector plate 250. The elastic portion 273 includes a pair of support protrusions 271 extending in opposite directions to each other.
[0112] When pressure is applied to the support protrusion 271 in the rear direction, the elastic portion 273 is deformed and the support protrusion 271 is pushed in the rear direction, and when the force is removed, the elastic portion 273 restores the support protrusion 271 to its original position. The elastic portion 273 is configured so that the position of the support protrusion 271 can be changed by an external force, and can prevent the optical sheet layer 260 in contact with the end of the support protrusion 271 from being damaged by the support protrusion 271.
[0113] As shown in FIG. 13(a), the support hook 272 is inserted into the fastening hole 244, and pressure is applied to the support protrusion 271 in the rear direction so that the hook end 272e passes through the fastening hole 244 and remains positioned on the rear surface of the rear panel 240.
[0114] Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 13(b), the end of the supporter hook 272 is pushed in the third direction D3, which is the direction in which the supporter hook 272 is formed, until it is positioned at the rear of the fixing hole 245 located in the third direction D3 of the fastening hole 244, and the force pressing the support protrusion 271 is removed, whereby the elasticity of the elastic portion 273 causes the support protrusion 271 to protrude toward the front (upward in the drawing), and the hook end 272e is inserted into the fixing hole 245.
[0115] The distance d2 between the end of the fastening hole 244 in the third direction D3 and the end of the fixing hole 245 in the third direction D3 is set corresponding to the distance d1 between the hook end 272e and the extension portion 272a located at the bottom of the support protrusion 271 of the supporter hook 272.
[0116] The fixing hole 245 has a size corresponding to the size of the hook end 272e of the supporter hook 272 so that the hook end 272e of the supporter hook 272 is inserted and fixed, and has a size relatively smaller than the fastening hole 244.
[0117] The support hook 272 is fastened to the rear plate 240 , and the elastic portion 273 contacts the front surface of the reflector plate 250 to fasten the reflector plate 250 and the rear plate 240 together.
[0118] The direction in which the diffusion plate supporter 270 receives force changes along the extending direction of the hook end 272e of the supporter hook 272. When the supporter hook 272 is bent in the third direction, the support protrusion 271 of the diffusion plate supporter 270 is inclined in the second direction D2 when pressure is applied from above. In order to reinforce the rigidity in the second direction D2, the length b of the elastic portion 273b in the second direction is configured to be shorter than the length a of the elastic portion 273a in the third direction D3 (a>b).
[0119] The backlight substrate 220 of the present invention has an advantage that the area of the substrate is reduced by half, thereby reducing the cost of components, and that the substrate is open in the front and rear directions to release heat generated from the light source.
[0120] The backlight unit (BLU) of the present invention can reduce manufacturing costs while ensuring rigidity.
[0121] In addition, the guide hole is included for easy connection to the cover bottom, and the convenience of the assembly process can be improved.
[0122] The above detailed description should not be construed as limiting in all respects, but should be considered as illustrative. The scope of the present invention should be determined by reasonable interpretation of the appended claims, and all modifications within the equivalent scope of the present invention are included in the scope of the present invention.
