Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a composition for keratin fibers, specifically a hair care composition containing at least one amphoteric surfactant, and a beauty method using the composition, which contains at least one amphoteric surfactant.

Background Art

[0002] It is well known that the detangling and softening effects of hair-related products are widely favored by customers. It is also well known that hair conditioners are recommended for treating damaged hair that has been sensitized (damaged and / or embrittled) to varying degrees under the action of atmospheric substances or mechanical or chemical treatments (such as dyeing, bleaching, and / or permanent wave operations). Damaged hair is often difficult to detangle and lacks softness. It is well known in the art to use a hair conditioner in a composition for washing or caring for hair in order to facilitate detangling and achieve softness and shine effects.

[0003] For centuries, the soft, shimmering luster of pearls has continued to hold a particular fascination for people. Therefore, it is natural for cosmetics manufacturers to strive to give their products an attractive, valuable, and rich appearance.

[0004] Although numerous pearlescent compositions and formulations are known from the prior art, it is often difficult to obtain a pearlescent conditioner with a stable pearlescent effect over time while maintaining good conditioning properties.

[0005] For example, WO 2013 / 189037 discloses a personal care composition comprising a pearlescent conditioning composition that is stable over time, the composition comprising: a) at least one fatty alcohol having a fatty chain of at least 22 carbon atoms, b) at least one fatty amide, c) at least one alkyl polyglycoside, and d) at least one conditioning agent. Also provided is a simplified method for preparing such a conditioner at low temperatures.

[0006] However, there is still a need for cosmetic compositions that can improve the pearlescent appearance and provide improved conditioning effects such as softening effects to keratin fibers.

[0127] The hydrophilic thickener may be a natural or synthetic hydrophilic thickener. The hydrophilic thickener can preferably be selected from thickening polymers that retain sugar units, for example, non - associative thickening polymers that retain sugar units.

[0128] For the purposes of the present invention, the term "sugar unit" means a hydrocarbon - based compound that contains several alcohol functional groups, contains at least 4 carbon atoms, and retains oxygen, regardless of the presence or absence of an aldehyde or ketone functional group.

[0129] The sugar unit may optionally be modified by substitution and / or oxidation and / or dehydration.

[0138] These guar gums are well-known in the prior art and may be prepared, for example, by reacting the corresponding alkene oxide, such as propylene oxide, with guar gum to obtain a guar gum modified with hydroxypropyl groups.

[0139] The degree of hydroxyalkylation is preferably in the range from 0.4 to 1.2 and corresponds to the number of alkylene oxide molecules consumed by the number of free hydroxyl functional groups present in the guar gum.

[0140] Such non-ionic guar gums optionally modified with hydroxyalkyl groups are sold, for example, under the trade names Jaguar HP8, Jaguar HP60 and Jaguar HP120 by Rhodia Chimie.

[0141] Among the starches that can be used are, for example, polymers in the form of polymers containing base units that are anhydroglucose units. The number of these units and their assemblies make it possible to distinguish amylose (linear polymer) from amylopectin (branched polymer). The relative ratio of amylose and amylopectin, as well as their degree of polymerization, can vary depending on the plant origin of the starch.

As examples, carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl methyl cellulose (for example, Blanose 7M manufactured by Aqualon), carboxymethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose, and their sodium salts can be mentioned.

[0153] Among the cationic cellulose ethers having no fatty chain, cationic cellulose derivatives, for example, cellulose copolymers or cellulose derivatives grafted with water-soluble quaternary ammonium monomers, such as those described in Patent US 4,131,576, for example, in particular, (poly)hydroxy(C1-C4)alkyl cellulose grafted with methacryloylethyltrimethylammonium, methacrylamidopropyltrimethylammonium or dimethyldiallylammonium salts, such as hydroxymethyl-, hydroxyethyl- or hydroxypropyl cellulose can be mentioned. Commercially available products corresponding to this definition are, more specifically, products sold under the names Celquat L 200 (registered trademark) and Celquat H 100 (registered trademark) by National Starch.

[0154] The degree of hydroxyalkylation corresponds to the number of alkylene oxide molecules consumed by the number of free hydroxyl functional groups present in guar gum, and may be, for example, in the range of 0.4 to 1.2.

[0155] The amount of the hydrophilic thickener in the composition according to the present invention may be in the range of 0.1% by mass to 10% by mass, preferably 0.3% by mass to 5% by mass, more preferably 0.5% by mass to 3% by mass based on the total mass of the composition.

Examples

[0249] The present invention will be described in more detail by way of examples. However, they should not be construed as limiting the scope of the present invention.

[0250] [Preparation] Each of the compositions in the form of an O / W emulsion according to Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 was prepared by mixing the components shown in Table 1. When dissolving behenyl alcohol and thickeners, etc., it was heated up to 70 °C at most until the components were completely dissolved. All the numerical values of the amounts of the components in Table 1 are based on the "mass %" of the components with respect to the total mass of each composition, unless otherwise indicated (AM: active substance).

[0251] [Evaluation] 2.7 g of bleached Chinese hair bundles with a length of 27 cm were prepared. Each hair bundle was washed once with a cleansing shampoo. After shampooing, the hair bundles were rinsed with water and dried with a towel. 1 g of each composition according to Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 was applied onto the hair bundles, and then the hair bundles were left under ambient conditions for 5 minutes. Then, the hair bundles were rinsed with water and dried with a dryer to obtain the treated hair bundles.

[0252] (Softening effect) The softening effect on hair was evaluated by several judges by ranking it from 1 to 4 according to the following criteria and averaging them. 1: The hair was not soft. 2: The hair was slightly soft. 3: The hair was moderately soft. 4: The hair was very soft.

[0253] (Pearlescent luster intensity) The evaluation of the pearlescent luster effect was carried out by visually observing the composition and averaging it according to the following criteria. 1: The composition had no pearlescent luster. 2: The composition had some pearlescent luster. 3: The composition had moderately pearlescent luster. 4: The composition had very strong pearlescent luster.

[0254] The results are shown in Table 1 below.

[0255]

Table 1

[0256] As can be confirmed from the table, the composition according to Example 1, which contains a specific combination of components (a) to (d), showed an improved softening effect on the keratin fibers of the hair. Moreover, the composition showed an improved pearlescent luster effect.

[0257] On the other hand, the composition according to Comparative Example 1, which does not contain (d) an amphoteric surfactant, could not show a good softening effect on the keratin fibers. The pearlescent luster effect of Comparative Example 1 was moderate. Also, the composition according to Comparative Example 2, which contains caramel pigment instead of the amphoteric surfactant, could show a sufficient pearlescent luster effect, but the softening effect was inferior.

[0258] Accordingly, the composition according to the invention can be considered to be very suitable as a cosmetic composition for treating keratin materials, since it can provide an improved cosmetic effect to keratin fibers while giving an attractive appearance due to the improved nacreous luster effect.
