AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing contactless power transmission systems face issues such as increased load and power supply interruptions due to sudden changes in power demand when vehicles move closer or away from the power source, leading to frequency drops and overcurrent detection.

Method used

A contactless power transfer system that adjusts transmission power based on the coupling degree and duration of power transfer, using control devices to manage power conversion units and switching elements, ensuring appropriate power delivery to moving or stopped vehicles.

Benefits of technology

The system effectively suppresses load increases and overcurrent issues, enabling efficient and safe power transfer to vehicles by dynamically adjusting power based on coupling and time, preventing frequency drops and overcharging.

Abstract

To provide a non-contact power transmission system capable of performing appropriate power transmission to mobiles during moving and stopping.SOLUTION: A non-contact power transmission system 1 comprises a power transmission unit 8, a power transmission power conversion unit 7, and a power transmission side control device 9. The power transmission unit 8 comprises a primary side coil for sending alternating-current power to be transmitted to a power reception device 4. The power transmission power conversion unit 7 comprises a plurality of transistors connected to the primary side coil. The power transmission power conversion unit 7 converts direct-current power supplied from a power supply unit 6 to alternating-current power. When a coupling coefficient is smaller than a predetermined value or a power transmission duration time is equal to or longer than a predetermined first time at the time of power transmission by the power transmission unit 8, the power transmission side control device 9 changes transmission power in decreasing tendency toward zero depending on a lapse of time until power transmission stop.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
