Abstract

To provide an apparatus for reducing the volume of sludge, a method for reducing the volume of sludge and a jet nozzle to be used for the method by which the solubilizing effect of sludge is remarkably improved without depending on existing operation conditions and without increasing cost and the reduction of the volume of sludge can be improved.SOLUTION: The sludge treatment apparatus includes a denitrification tank 1, a nitrification tank 2, a solid-liquid separation means for solid-liquid separating the sludge after passing through the nitrification tank 2, and a return sludge pump 6 for returning the sludge separated by the solid-liquid separation means to the denitrification tank 1 via a return sludge line 7, wherein a jet nozzle 9 having a thin cylindrical hollow part is installed in the return sludge line 7. The apparatus for volume reduction of sludge comprises an injection part 7C of an alkaline chemical solution in a pipe on the downstream side 7B of a jet nozzle 9 in a return sludge line 7, introduces return sludge in the return sludge line 7 into the jet nozzle 9 to apply shearing force to microorganisms in the return sludge, and injects the alkaline chemical solution into the return sludge containing the microorganisms to which the shearing force is applied to solubilize the sludge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
