[Technical Field]

[0001] <Related Applications and / or Priority Claims> This application claims the benefit of priority to U.S. Utility Patent Application No. 16 / 038,487, filed July 18, 2018, U.S. Utility Patent Application No. 15 / 680,439, filed August 18, 2017, U.S. Utility Patent Application No. 15 / 675,757, filed August 13, 2017, and U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 539,706, filed August 1, 2017, which applications are incorporated herein by reference in their entireties for all purposes.

[0002] The present invention relates generally to the field of interactive real-time systems and methods for use in the transportation industry segment. [Background technology]

[0003] At the time of creation of any new industry or industry segment, the associated systems and methods typically have multiple inefficiencies due to the lack of prior data or knowledge on how to optimize them. These inefficiencies are typically identified over time through trial and error, leading to technological advances in the field. The same is true for the transportation industry and many new transportation industry segments, including, but not limited to, the ride-hail industry segment, the ride-share industry segment, the goods delivery industry segment, and the courier industry segment.

[0004] Current inefficient systems and methods available in the transportation industry segment are detrimental to transportation clients, as well as to the businesses or entities themselves, hereafter referred to as service providers, and to agents performing services for the service providers.

[0005] Problems associated with current systems and methods used in the transportation industry segment are rooted in computer technology and the fact that the transportation industry segment operates in real time or near real time and is changing significantly in recent years. The transportation industry segment is a real time or near real time environment in that transportation service requests and transportation service offers may exist one moment and not exist the next. In a real time or near real time transportation industry segment, neither agents nor transportation clients have access to all or most of the real time or near real time information and are unable to accurately analyze or evaluate this information in order to make informed decisions on the fly. Currently, no real time or near real time systems or methods exist that can assist both agents and transportation clients in this type of analysis. The lack of real time or near real time systems or methods leads to agents securing or obtaining suboptimal, generic transportation service requests and transportation clients securing or obtaining suboptimal, generic transportation service offers due to an inability to apply their preferences.

[0006] Currently, a transportation client requesting a ride in the ride-hail industry segment can secure or obtain transportation service offers with entirely different ride options, prices, wait times, and time-to-destination times depending on which service provider a given transportation service offer is from and when the transportation service offer is secured or obtained. However, transportation clients are only given a choice of transportation service offers from one service provider to accept or reject. Agents are further limited because they are presented with only one transportation service request, even if they wish to provide transportation services in any transportation industry segment. Currently, there are insufficient systems or methods for dispatching or assigning agents to transportation service requests and for dispatching or assigning transportation service offers to transportation clients. Therefore, a need exists that the present invention addresses.

[0007] Current systems and methods for agents to analyze or evaluate received transportation service requests are prohibitively difficult and time-consuming in the fast-paced, real-time or near-real-time environment of the transportation industry segment. Current technology does not allow agents to analyze or evaluate transportation service requests and then secure or acquire the desired transportation service requests based on the agent's individual preferences. Currently, agents are provided with a single transportation service request without alternatives, and the agent only has the option of accepting or rejecting that particular transportation service request. Typically, details of the transportation service request that the agent is attempting to secure or acquire are not provided in advance and are only revealed once the transportation service request is secured or acquired. The agent must choose to secure or acquire the transportation service request or reject the job without knowing the details of the transportation services to be provided.

[0008] Furthermore, agents are penalized for canceling transportation service requests they do not want to fulfill, even if those requests are transportation service requests that they would not have secured or obtained in the first place if given the choice. Among other things, this drawback has led to the common practice of providing a false sense of choice to agents who are working for more than one service provider at the same time. However, this analysis or evaluation method is a very laborious and time-consuming process that is not useful or practical in the real-time or near-real-time environment of the transportation industry segment.

[0009] To analyze or evaluate a transportation service request, an agent must log in to multiple applications from different service providers and navigate between these applications while viewing each individual transportation service request for each application. Because analyzing or evaluating transportation service requests in this manner takes a lot of time, in a real-time or near-real-time environment, the agent may miss transportation service requests that the agent considers favorable. Currently, there is no system or method that an agent can use as a tool to analyze or evaluate transportation service requests in real-time or near-real-time.

[0010] Given conventional systems and methods, agents currently cannot analyze or evaluate transportation service requests from two or more service providers in real time or near real time, a frustrating obstacle when all other aspects of the transportation industry segment operate in real time or near real time. The current state of the art limits agents' decision-making capabilities. Without a way to continuously analyze or evaluate transportation service requests in real time or near real time, agents are currently forced to secure or acquire less favorable transportation service requests, preventing them from maximizing their profits and work as efficiently as they would like. Because agents are only provided with one transportation service request at a time, in order to secure or acquire a favorable transportation service request, the agent may have to turn down a less favorable transportation service request and wait for a more favorable transportation service request to become available. Given the current limitations of systems and methods in this transportation industry segment, agents who wish to work more efficiently are unable to do so.

[0011] Additionally, currently, no system or method exists for analyzing or evaluating transportation service requests in real time or near real time across two or more transportation industry segments. The lack of such a real-time or near real-time system or method further limits an agent's ability to expand into the transportation industry and operate more efficiently if the agent wishes to provide transportation services in more than one transportation industry segment. In addition, current limitations also reduce the amount of potentially favorable transportation service requests available to the agent. Currently, if an agent wants to provide rides in a ride-hail industry segment and deliver food in a goods delivery industry segment where the transportation service requests are adjacent, the agent does not have the ability to analyze or evaluate and secure or obtain these favorable transportation service requests in real time or near real time. A system or method that allows agents to do so would provide agents with access to a greater variety of transportation service requests, giving them more flexibility in providing transportation services within the transportation industry. One non-limiting aspect of the present invention solves this problem for agents.

[0012] Currently, some service providers dynamically increase prices in certain areas for various reasons. Agents who want to work more efficiently or earn more money try to work in these areas as much as possible. The problem is that by the time an agent reaches a high-pricing area, the high pricing has moved on or disappeared. Agents experience the challenge of chasing the high-pricing areas, but usually do not have the opportunity to invest there. As a result, some agents give up chasing the high-pricing areas. Currently, there is no system or method that agents can use to predict where the high-pricing areas will be in order to maximize their profitability.

[0013] Currently, agents are assigned or provided with one transportation service request at a time, which they can mindlessly accept or reject without knowing any details. This process is not a useful method of presenting transportation service requests to agents. Existing technology does not provide a way to visually present preferred transportation service requests from multiple service providers on a geographic map with dynamic icons that are updated in real time or near real time. Currently, no system or method exists for displaying visually distinguishable preferred transportation service requests to agents compared to less preferred transportation service requests.

[0014] Conveyance clients often endure similar problems or challenges as agents. Currently, when a conveyance client seeks to secure or acquire a conveyance service offering, the conveyance client is presented with only the closest agent from each service provider. The only way for a conveyance client to analyze or evaluate conveyance service offerings from different service providers is a very tedious and time-consuming process, similar to that of agents. First, the conveyance client must learn about competitors, then download the competitor's application and enter the same search criteria for the first service provider. This process must be repeated for all competitors that the conveyance client wishes to evaluate.

[0015] In the fast-paced transportation industry segment, where a difference of a few seconds can significantly affect whether or not a preferred transportation service offering is secured or obtained, current methods are not practical or useful for analyzing or evaluating transportation service offerings in real time or near real time. Assuming a transportation client preference, in most cases, by the time the transportation client has gone through the steps of analyzing or evaluating only two to three service providers, the preferred transportation service offering is likely no longer available. As a result, transportation clients often end up paying more for transportation services than necessary or waiting longer than necessary because there is currently no way to visually analyze or evaluate transportation service offerings from multiple service providers in real time or near real time. Existing technology does not provide a way to visually present preferred transportation service offerings from multiple service providers on a geographic map with dynamic icons that are updated in real time or near real time. Improved systems and methods are needed.

[0016] When a service provider increases pricing in a particular area, transportation clients currently have no system or method for determining whether there are nearby areas that are not subject to the higher pricing. Currently, there is no way for transportation clients to visually analyze or evaluate different areas on a geographic map to view pricing information for individual service providers, let alone pricing information for multiple service providers. Given the limited choices currently available to transportation clients in the transportation industry segment, the drawback of this lack of transparency is that transportation clients lack the opportunity to make informed purchasing decisions. One non-limiting aspect of the present invention solves this problem for transportation clients. Summary of the Invention

Each service provider 5 may have at least one external server 10. The central server 9 receives the transportation service requests 13 and can then filter the transportation service requests 13 into filtered transportation service requests 14 by using at least one agent preference 3 and, preferably, the real-time or near-real-time geographic location of the agent 2. The central server 9 can calculate a weighted average of the at least one agent preference 3. The central server 9 can preferably sort the filtered transportation service requests 14 in an order related to the corresponding weighted average to identify at least one preferred transportation service request 15. The at least one preferred transportation service request 15 can be identified by the central server 9 from the filtered transportation service requests 14 with the highest weighted average. The at least one preferred transportation service request 15 with corresponding transportation data and the filtered transportation service requests 14 with corresponding transportation data can be transmitted from the central server 9 to the application 6 via at least one link 8. The application 6 can run on a terminal 7 and can display at least one visual representation, such as a dynamic map 11.Each filtered transportation service request 14D, 14F and preferred transportation service request 15A can be shown on the dynamic map 11 as a dynamic icon or visual, and can optionally show transportation data. The agent 2 can analyze or evaluate the dynamic map 11 and then secure or obtain the preferred transportation service request 15A. The at least one link can be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one software function or at least one software component associated with at least one application 6, at least one terminal 7, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof. The at least one link can be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one application 6, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof on at least one terminal 7 associated with the at least one agent 2. [Figure 3] 3 relates to a preferred example of one non-limiting aspect of the present invention as a flowchart of a preferred, but not required, order of steps in an exemplary method by which agent 2 may benefit. The flowchart illustrates steps on how agent 2 may secure or obtain at least one preferred transportation service request 15 by analyzing or evaluating a visual representation, in this non-limiting example, a dynamic map 11. The at least one link may be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one software function or at least one software component associated with at least one application 6, at least one terminal 7, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof. [Figure 4]FIG. 4 illustrates a preferred, non-limiting example of one embodiment of the present invention, as a dynamic map 11, from which at least one agent 2 can benefit. The dynamic map 11 can be used by at least one agent 2 to analyze or evaluate, and then secure or acquire, a preferred transportation service request 15A. The filtered transportation service requests 14A, 14B, 14C, and 14D and the preferred transportation service request 15A are associated with different service providers 5A, 5B, 5C, and 5D, respectively. The at least one link may be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one software function or at least one software component associated with at least one application 6, at least one terminal 7, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof. The preferred transportation service request 15A may be visually distinguishable from the filtered transportation service requests 14A, 14B, 14C, and 14D. In this non-limiting illustration, a star is used in addition to a larger icon to indicate that the preferred transportation service request 15A is visually identifiable. At least one different icon, symbol, color, shading, or visual may be used to identify the individual filtered transportation service requests 14A, 14B, 14C, and 14D and the preferred transportation service request 15A from different transportation industry segments, different service providers 5, or combinations thereof. For example, in this non-limiting illustration, the icon depicting a person is a ride service request from the ride-hail industry segment, the icon depicting a van is a product delivery service request from the courier industry segment, and the icon depicting a spoon and fork is a food delivery service request from the food delivery industry segment. The individual icons, symbols, colors, shading, or visuals may be moving or dynamic and may be updated in real time or near real time on the application 6. [Figure 5]FIG. 5 illustrates a preferred, non-limiting example of one embodiment of the present invention, which may be beneficial to at least one agent 2, as a combination of a dynamic map 11 and a heat map 12. The combination of the dynamic map 11 and the heat map 12 may be used by at least one agent 2 to analyze or evaluate at least one transportation industry segment from both a micro and a macro perspective and then secure or obtain a preferred transportation service request 15A. At least one different icon, symbol, color, shading, or visual may be used to identify the individual filtered transportation service requests 14A, 14B, 14C, and 14D and preferred transportation service requests 15A from different transportation industry segments, different service providers 5, or combinations thereof. For example, in this non-limiting illustration, the icon depicting a person is a ride service request from the ride-hail industry segment, the icon depicting a van is a goods delivery service request from the courier industry segment, and the icon depicting a spoon and fork is a food delivery service request from the food delivery industry segment.Individual icons, symbols, colors, shading, or visuals can be moving or dynamic and can be updated in real time or near real time on the application 6. In this non-limiting illustration, a dynamic map 11 showing filtered transportation service requests 14A, 14B, 14C, and 14D and preferred transportation service requests 15A is displayed in combination with a heat map 12 showing high-pricing areas. Areas in the combined dynamic map 11 and heat map 12 can be shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurement of a high-pricing metric displayed on the geographic map. For example, darker shaded areas can represent areas with higher pricing, while lighter shaded areas can represent areas with lower pricing or potentially no high pricing. At least one agent 2 can use this combination of the dynamic map 11 and heat map 12 to analyze and identify high-pricing areas, shown as darker shaded areas, and approach the high-pricing areas. In this non-limiting illustration, at least one agent 2 may travel to an area with higher pricing, indicated by darker shading, and then secure or obtain a preferred transportation service request 15A. [Figure 6]FIG. 6 illustrates a preferred example of one non-limiting embodiment of the present invention as a macroscopic, real-time or near-real-time transportation service system from which at least one transportation client 1 can benefit. Transportation service offerings 16 can be sourced from at least one external server 10 and transmitted to a central server 9 via at least one link 8. At least one service provider 5 can be associated with at least one external server 10. In this non-limiting illustration, each service provider 5 is associated with one external server 10. The central server 9 can filter the transportation service offerings 16 into filtered transportation service offerings 17 by using at least one transportation client preference 4 and, preferably, the real-time or near-real-time geographic location of at least one transportation client 1. [Figure 7]FIG. 7 illustrates a preferred, non-limiting example of one embodiment of the present invention as a macroscopic, real-time or near-real-time delivery service system from which a delivery client 1 can benefit. Individual delivery service offerings 16 can be performed by individual agents 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, and 2F. Delivery service offerings 16C and 16D are provided by agents 2C and 2D to an external server 10B associated with service provider 5B. Delivery service offerings 16E and 16F are provided by agents 2E and 2F to an external server 10C associated with service provider 5C. Each service provider 5 may have at least one external server 10. The central server 9 receives the transportation service offerings 16 and can then filter the transportation service offerings 16 into filtered transportation service offerings 17 by using at least one transportation client preference 4 and, preferably, the real-time or near real-time geographic location of the transportation client 1. The central server 9 can calculate a weighted average of the at least one transportation client preference 4. The at least one link can be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one software function or at least one software component associated with at least one application 6, at least one terminal 7, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof. The at least one link can be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one application 6, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof on at least one terminal 7 associated with the at least one transport client 1. [Figure 8] 8 relates to a preferred example of one non-limiting aspect of the present invention as a flowchart of steps in a preferred, but not required, order of an exemplary method by which a transport client 1 may benefit. The flowchart illustrates steps on how a transport client 1 may secure or obtain at least one preferred transport service offering 18 by analyzing or evaluating a visual representation, in this non-limiting example, a heat map 12. Not every at least one transport service request 13 can become at least one filtered transport service request 14, and not every at least one filtered transport service request 14 can become at least one preferred transport service request 15. At least one function of the central server 9 can be performed by an application 6. The at least one link can be at least one connection or at least one association with at least one software function or at least one software component associated with the at least one application 6, at least one terminal 7, at least one central server 9, at least one external server 10, or a combination thereof.
