Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a photocurable composition that is suitably used in the production of display elements, printed wiring boards, flexible wiring boards, semiconductor package substrates, solar cell substrates, and other electronic circuit boards. [Background technology]

[0002] Conventionally, various researches have been conducted on coating agents that form a film on the surface of substrates such as various resin plates, glass plates, and metal plates used in the fields of construction materials and electrical and electronics, and protect the substrates from scratches and contamination. Thermosetting resins and photocurable resins are used as coating agents, and photocurable resins are often used to protect the surface of organic substrates because they often produce cured products with high surface hardness and cure instantly by light irradiation, resulting in high productivity. However, cured products using photocurable resins generally do not have sufficient adhesion to inorganic substrates. Therefore, various studies have been conducted to improve adhesion to inorganic substrates.

[0003] For example, Patent Document 1 describes a photocurable inkjet ink that contains a specific monofunctional polymerizable monomer component (A), a polyfunctional polymerizable monomer (B), and a polymerization initiator (C) in a specific amount. By using the photocurable inkjet ink, a cured product with good adhesion to inorganic substrates can be formed. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0004] [Patent Document 1] International Publication No. WO2013 / 015125 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] However, as electronic components become thinner and smaller, the cured film using the photocurable inkjet ink described in Patent Document 1 is sometimes insufficient. For example, when a cured film with a thickness of about 10 μm that insulates an EMI shield from metal wiring is formed using the photocurable inkjet ink described in Patent Document 1, it was found that ion migration occurs during a reliability test. Here, ion migration is a phenomenon in which metals used as wiring or electrodes are ionized, move, and grow, which causes short circuits in electronic components. For this reason, preventing ion migration is important from the viewpoint of the reliability of electronic components. An object of the present invention is to provide a photocurable composition capable of forming a cured product having good adhesion to inorganic substrates and good resistance to ion migration. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] The present inventors have conducted research to solve the above problems and have found that a combination of specific components results in a composition that has good adhesion to inorganic substrates and is capable of forming a cured product with good ion migration resistance. [0067] [Example 1] <Preparation of Photocurable Composition> 35 g of FA-513AS and 35 g of IB-XA as monofunctional acrylic monomers (A), 20 g of IRR214-K as polyfunctional (bifunctional) acrylic monomers (B), 10 g of OT-2503 as hydroxyl value regulator (C), and 10 g of Irg379 as photopolymerization initiator (D) were mixed to obtain a solution, which was then filtered through a membrane filter (Nihon Entegris Co., Ltd.) made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (hydrophobic) with a pore size of 0.2 μm to obtain a filtrate (used as a photocurable composition, "inkjet ink 1"). The viscosity of the photocurable composition at 25°C was measured using an E-type viscometer (Toki Sangyo Co., Ltd. TV-22, the same applies below), and was found to be 36.2 mPa·s.

[0068] <Formation of hardened product> Inkjet ink 1 was poured into an inkjet cartridge DMC-11610 (manufactured by FUJIFILM), which was then attached to an inkjet device (DMP-2831, manufactured by FUJIFILM). The inkjet ink was then sprayed onto a flexible copper-clad laminate (manufactured by Connectec Japan Co., Ltd., hereafter referred to as the Cu substrate) under the following conditions: ejection voltage (piezoelectric voltage) 17 to 25 V, head temperature 32 to 70° C., drive frequency 5 kHz, and number of applications 1. Side A 3 cm square pattern was drawn on a substrate with opposing comb-shaped electrode patterns (manufactured by Connectec Japan Co., Ltd.) to cover the overlapping portions of the comb-shaped electrodes.

[0069] The patterned Cu substrate and the substrate with the opposing comb-shaped electrode pattern were irradiated with 5000 mJ / cm2 ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 365 nm using a UV-LED lamp "ASM1503NM-UV-LED" (manufactured by Asumi Giken Co., Ltd., lamp wavelength: 365 nm). 2 The pattern was photocured by irradiating it with a UV exposure amount (measured with a UV monitor ("UV-Pad") manufactured by Opsytec, wavelength: UV-A (315-400 nm)) and then heated and baked at 175°C for 60 minutes in a clean oven DT-610 (manufactured by Yamato Scientific Co., Ltd.) to obtain a Cu substrate (Cu substrate 1) on which a cured material with a thickness of 10 μm was formed, and a substrate 1 with an opposing comb-shaped electrode pattern was obtained.

[0070] The film thickness of the cured product was determined by measuring the film thickness of the cured product on Cu for Cu substrate 1 on which the cured product was formed, and by measuring the film thickness of the cured product on the opposing interdigital electrode for substrate 1 with opposing interdigital electrode pattern on which the cured product was formed, using a laser microscope VK-X100 (manufactured by Keyence Corporation).

[0071] <Preparation of samples for evaluating ion migration resistance (IMG samples)> An electromagnetic wave shielding film SF-PC5900-C (manufactured by Tatsuta Electric Wire Co., Ltd.) was attached to a predetermined position of the opposing comb-shaped electrode pattern substrate 1 with the cured product placed thereon by hot pressing (3 MPa x 175°C x 3 minutes) to prepare IMG sample 1.

[0072] <Examples 2 to 14 and Comparative Examples 1 to 5> Inkjet inks 2 to 19 were prepared in the same manner as in Example 1, except that the components in Example 1 were changed to those shown in Tables 1 to 3. For inks 2 to 18 except for ink 19, IMG samples 2 to 18 and Cu substrates 2 to 18 were prepared.

[0073] <Evaluation method> <Evaluation of Inkjet Ink and Pattern-Shaped Cured Product> The inkjet inks 1 to 19 obtained above were evaluated for ejection property, photocurability, ion migration resistance, and adhesion to substrates and heat resistance (glass transition temperature) of the cured products. The test methods and evaluation criteria are as follows, and the evaluation results are shown in Tables 1 to 3. In the tables, the values representing the contents of components (A), (B), (C) and (D) are all in percent by weight.

[0074] (Ion migration resistance test) The ion migration resistance of the IMG samples (1 to 18) obtained above was evaluated by the following method. The obtained IMG sample was connected to an ion migration tester MIG-87 (IMV Corporation) with wiring and placed inside a small environmental tester SH-641 (Espec Corporation). A DC voltage of 100 V was then applied for 100 hours in an environment of 85°C x 85% humidity.

[0075] (Evaluation Criteria) The above test was performed on four or two IMG samples, and after 100 hours of application, the resistance was 1×10 6 The samples that exhibited the above characteristics were determined to have passed the test. The resistance to ion migration was evaluated based on the number of samples that had passed the test. X / 4: Of the four IMG samples, X passed the test. X / 2: Of the two IMG samples, X passed the test.

[0076] (Ink ejection test) The ejection properties of the inks (1 to 19) obtained in each of the Examples and Comparative Examples were evaluated according to the following criteria. 〇: Good discharge from 12 or more consecutive nozzles △: Good discharge from consecutive nozzles 4 to 11 ×: Good discharge from 4 or fewer consecutive nozzles

[0077] (Wettability test) The patterns formed on the Cu substrates obtained in each of the Examples and Comparative Examples were visually observed for any irregularities in the patterns and any smears in the print, and the wettability of the ink was evaluated. The evaluation criteria were as follows: ○: The specified pattern is printed and no print lines are visible △: The specified pattern is printed, but printing streaks are visible. ×: There are parts of the specified pattern that are not printed.

[0078] (Adhesion: Cross-cut peel test) The cured product obtained on the Cu substrate (1-18) was cut into a square of 1 mm x 1 mm. shape( The specimen was cross-cut in a grid pattern to create 100 areas surrounded by the cuts. An adhesive peeling tape was applied over the areas, and the number of peeled areas was counted when the tape was peeled off. The results were evaluated according to the following evaluation criteria. The peeling tape used was Scotch #610 (product name, manufactured by 3M), 402N / 100mm (vertical direction). (Evaluation Criteria) ◎: Not even one area out of 100 peeled off ○: Missing area (peeled area) is 5% or less △: Missing area is more than 5% and less than 50% ×: Missing area exceeds 51%

[0079] [Table 1]

[0080] [Table 2]

[0081] [Table 3]

[0082] As shown in Tables 1 to 3, by using a composition containing OT-2503, bifunctional monomer A, or 3000A as the hydroxyl value adjuster (C), the ion migration resistance (hereinafter referred to as "IMG resistance"), wettability, and adhesion of the cured product were improved. From these results, it can be said that it is effective to set the hydroxyl value of the composition to 1 to 100 mgKOH / g in order to form a cured product with excellent adhesion and IMG resistance. The reason why the hydroxyl value of the composition affects the IMG resistance may be that the hydroxyl value adjuster (C) exerts some surfactant action and adjusts the balance between hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity to increase the wettability of the composition. In addition, the composition in Comparative Example 1, which had a hydroxyl value of more than 100 mgKOH / g, had low IMG resistance. This indicates that one of the reasons for this is that when the hydroxyl value of the composition is too high, the cured product absorbs too much water.

[0083] By using an acrylic oligomer as the hydroxyl value regulator (C), a cured product with high IMG resistance could be stably formed. When an acrylic oligomer was used, a cured product with high IMG resistance was obtained by making the content in the composition 1% by weight or more. However, since the viscosity of the composition increases as the content of the acrylic oligomer increases, it is preferable to make the hydroxyl value regulator (C) 25% by weight or less when used as an inkjet ink. In addition, when a (meth)acrylic monomer having a hydroxyl group was used, a cured product with high IMG resistance could be formed, similar to the acrylic oligomer.

[0084] It was found that even for cured products with similar wettability and adhesion, there are differences in IMG resistance. From the viewpoint of obtaining cured products with good IMG resistance, monofunctional acrylic monomers (A) and polyfunctional acrylic monomers (B) with condensed cyclic hydrocarbon groups or polycyclic hydrocarbon groups were preferable. This result is believed to be due to the fact that the adhesion of the cured products to inorganic substances such as Cu is improved by the cyclocyclic skeleton.

[0085] From the viewpoint of obtaining a cured product with good IMG resistance, it is preferable that the monofunctional acrylic monomer (A) has a homopolymer glass transition temperature (Tg) of 90°C or more. From the same viewpoint, when a bifunctional acrylic monomer is used as the polyfunctional acrylic monomer (B), it is preferable to mix it in an amount of 8% by weight or more of the composition. This result is considered to be due to the fact that the crosslink density of the cured product is increased by increasing the content of the bifunctional acrylic monomer. However, if the crosslink density is too high, the curing shrinkage may increase conversely, and the adhesion of the cured product may decrease, so it is preferable that the bifunctional acrylic monomer is 50% by weight or less of the composition. [Industrial Applicability]

[0086] The photocurable composition of the present invention can be used to form a cured product that has excellent adhesion and ion migration resistance to silicon substrates, glass substrates, polyimide substrates, and substrates having conductors such as metal wiring and electrodes formed thereon.
