AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing technologies face challenges in securely generating and copying card data, such as account numbers, expiration dates, and CVV, from contactless cards to computing devices, due to security risks and operating system restrictions.

Method used

A system and method that allows users to tap a contactless card to generate encrypted data, which is then verified by an authentication server to produce a virtual account number, expiration date, and CVV. This data is copied to the clipboard of a computing device for secure pasting into payment forms.

Benefits of technology

The solution enhances security by eliminating the need for manual entry of card data, reducing the risk of data capture, and providing an additional verification layer through the authentication server, while also overcoming operating system restrictions on data access.

Abstract

To provide a system for tapping a contactless card so as to safely generate card data to be copied onto a clipboard.SOLUTION: In a system 100, a web browser outputs a form having a payment field. A URL transmitted from a communication interface of a contactless card has encrypted data generated by the contactless card on the basis of a private key stored in a memory of the contactless card. An application transmits the encrypted data to an authentication server, decrypts the encrypted data on the basis of the private key, receives a virtual account number, an expiration date, and a card verification value (CVV) from a virtual account number server, and copies the virtual account number onto a clipboard of an OS. The OS pastes the virtual account number from the clipboard to the payment field of the form of the web browser, and outputs a notification having the expiration date and the CVV associated with the virtual account number.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
