AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing suspension systems in vehicles face delays in toe change responsiveness during the initial stage of cornering due to torsional rotation of the radius arm, affecting vehicle controllability and responsiveness.

Method used

A suspension device with a radius arm bushing that has higher rigidity against rotation in one direction and lower rigidity in the opposite direction, using a design with inner and outer tubes and elastic bodies to suppress torsional rotation and enhance toe change responsiveness.

Benefits of technology

The suspension device improves responsiveness at the initial stage of cornering by reducing delays in toe change, enhancing vehicle controllability and ride comfort through controlled rigidity and smoother movement.

Abstract

To provide a suspension device which achieves improvement of responsiveness at an initial stage of turning.SOLUTION: A suspension device 1 comprises: a housing 20 to which a rear wheel RW of a vehicle is attached; multiple links 40, 50, 60 each including both ends spaced apart in a vehicle width direction, the links each coupling the housing to a vehicle body; a radius arm 30 unitized with the housing and protruding from the housing toward the front of the vehicle; and a radius arm bush 31 which is provided on a front end of the radius arm and couples the radius arm to the vehicle body through an elastic body 313 and whose position as seen in the vehicle width direction is arranged at the inner side in the vehicle width direction relative to a grounding point center C1 of the rear wheel. The radius arm bush has higher rigidity against rotation of the radium arm relative to the vehicle body in a direction in which a lower part of the radius arm is displaced to the outer side in the vehicle width direction relative to an upper part than rigidity against rotation of the radius arm relative to the vehicle body in an opposite direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
