16. 14. A two-axis rotating speaker mounting assembly as described in claim 13, wherein the speaker portion is removably attachable to the plate portion in a first orientation and a second orientation, the first orientation being rotated 90 degrees from the second orientation.

A two-axis rotating speaker mounting assembly for mounting a speaker to a support object, the two-axis rotating speaker mounting assembly comprising: a base portion for attachment to the support object; The center and a speaker part for attachment to the speaker; a first lockable pivot assembly having a first axis extending longitudinally along a first axis, pivotally connecting the base portion and the central portion about the first axis, the first lockable pivot assembly including a first knob and threads on the first axis that mate with threads in an opening in the first knob, wherein rotation of the first knob on the first axis, selectively in a locking direction or an unlocking direction, respectively, locks or unlocks the central portion relative to the base portion; a second lockable pivot assembly having a second axis extending longitudinally along a second axis, pivotally connecting the central portion to the speaker portion about the second axis, the second lockable pivot assembly including a second knob and threads on the second axis that mate with threads in an opening in the second knob, wherein rotation of the second knob on the second axis selectively in a locking direction or an unlocking direction locks or unlocks the speaker portion relative to the central portion, the second axis is spaced from the first axis and aligned perpendicularly to the first axis when viewed from a vantage point distal to the speaker unit and aligned with the first axis and the second axis, and the speaker unit can be selectively and reliably orientated relative to the base unit by pivoting at least one of the first lockable pivot assembly and the second lockable pivot assembly and then rotating the first knob and the second knob in their respective locking directions; the base portion further includes a base plate defining a plurality of holes therethrough, the holes including two overlapping groups symmetrically arranged about a central transverse axis of the base plate, the groups of holes including a first group of four holes and a second group of four holes; a mounting plate having mounting holes disposed about its periphery for mounting the mounting plate to the object to be supported, the mounting plate having a U-shaped lip sized to slidably receive the base plate therein in either a first orientation or a second orientation; the mounting plate further defines four holes therethrough, the first group of holes aligning with the four holes in the mounting plate when the base plate is in the first orientation, and the second group of holes aligning with the four holes in the mounting plate when the base plate is in the second orientation; in the first orientation, the first knob is at a first end of the mounting plate, and in the second orientation, the first knob is at a second end of the mounting plate; the speaker portion includes a plate portion and a speaker portion, the second axis extending through the plate portion; the plate portion defines an arcuate groove extending circumferentially about the second axis, the central portion defines a pin extending through the arcuate groove and configured to guide and secure the plate portion relative to the central portion when the speaker portion is pivoted relative to the central portion, the pin being disposed between the first axis and the second axis.
18. 20. A two-axis rotating speaker mounting assembly as described in claim 17, wherein the base portion defines two flanges extending perpendicularly from the base plate, and the first axis extends through the two flanges.

A two-axis rotating speaker mounting assembly as defined in claim 17, wherein the U-shaped lip is on a top surface of the mounting plate, and further comprising a vibration damping pad on a bottom surface of the mounting plate for contacting a surface to which the mounting plate is attached.
20. 20. The two-axis rotating speaker mounting assembly of claim 17, wherein the speaker portion is removably attachable to the plate portion in the first orientation and the second orientation, and the first orientation is positioned rotated 90 degrees from the second orientation.
