AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing bracket support structures fail to adequately disperse stress concentrations caused by varying loads and thermal expansion, particularly in components subjected to engine vibrations and high-temperature exhaust gases, leading to reduced durability.

Method used

A bracket support structure with a fastening surface, a flat portion, a bent portion, and a weld portion, featuring an extension portion along the weld that is shorter in width than the flat portion, and a smoothly curved bent portion to distribute stress away from the weld line.

Benefits of technology

The structure effectively disperses stress concentrations at weak points away from the weld, preventing durability reduction due to bending and thermal stresses, even under varying loads and temperature changes.

Abstract

To provide a bracket support structure for reducing stress concentration occurring around a fastening portion of a bracket fastened to a predetermined member by welding.SOLUTION: A bracket support structure comprises a bracket 1 including: a fastening surface 6 fastened to a predetermined first member; a flat portion 8 continuing from the fastening surface 6 via a bent portion 12; and a welded portion 9 provided along end portion 13a, 13b of the flat portion 8 opposite the bent portion 12. The welded portion 9 is welded to an outer peripheral surface 10 of a predetermined second member 2, thereby fastening the bracket 1 to the predetermined second member 2. The bracket 1 further includes an extension portion 14 extending along the welded portion 9 on the flat portion 8. Widthwise length of the extension portion 14, which is length from the welded portion 9 to the bent portion 12, is shorter than widthwise length of the flat portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
