A tote bag can, in some cases, be easier to carry than a purse and can be made from sturdy cloth, leather, heavy canvas, plastic, etc. A tote bag can have an unsecured opening and can include large parallel shoulder straps attached to the sides of the bag.

A tote bag may generally include an outer shell 216, shoulder straps 218, hand straps 210, a base 215, an opening, and a storage compartment 504.
