Abstract
To provide a method for manufacturing a glass ribbon section having a length variable from ultrathin glass with sufficient cutting quality and high yield.SOLUTION: A method for manufacture glass ribbon sections 60 to 62 comprises steps of: conveying a glass ribbon 4 at a speed v1 depending on a predetermined glass thickness (d1) in a plane E1 while applying a tensile stress in parallel to the side edge part of the glass ribbon and cooling the glass ribbon at a cooling rate depending on the predetermined glass thickness (d1); putting a scribe forming an angle α to the conveying direction of the glass ribbon on the surface of the glass ribbon by a marking tool by marking a glass surface in at least one edge part region to change the direction of the glass ribbon in the plane E2 so as to generate a bending stress; and cutting a glass ribbon section so as to form an edge by breaking the glass ribbon along a scribe extended line formed in the lateral direction to the glass ribbon.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
