Storage case and insert set

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a storage case for storing cutting inserts, and an insert set in which cutting inserts are stored in the storage case.

[0002] Cutting inserts used in metal processing are generally distributed on the market in a storage case in order to reduce breakage of the inserts. A storage case for cutting inserts is known, for example, as described in Patent Document 1. The storage case described in Patent Document 1 includes a box-shaped case body having a plurality of storage compartments for storing the cutting inserts therein, and a lid body for opening and closing the opening of the case body.

[0003] Japan Utility Model Publication No. 05-071186

[0004] A storage case according to one aspect of the present disclosure is a storage case for storing cutting inserts, and includes a frame-shaped case body, a first lid, and a second lid. The case body has a first opening located on the upper side, a second opening located on the lower side, and a storage section (storage space) for storing the cutting inserts therein. The first lid opens and closes the first opening. The second lid opens and closes the second opening.

[0005] An insert set according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a cutting insert and a storage case according to one aspect of the present disclosure that stores the cutting insert.

[0006] 7 is a schematic perspective view of an insert set according to an example of the present disclosure. FIG.

[0007] For example, cutting inserts stored in a storage case include a so-called single-sided type that has cutting edges only on the top surface, and a so-called double-sided type that has cutting edges on both the top and bottom surfaces. In the case of a double-sided cutting insert, when either the top or bottom cutting edge wears out, the cutting insert is turned upside down and the other cutting edge, either the top or bottom cutting edge, is used.

[0008] For example, in the above-mentioned storage case, of the cutting edges on the upper and lower surfaces, the cutting edge located on the opening side of the storage section is visible. Therefore, it is easy to determine whether the visible cutting edge is worn or not, in other words, whether the cutting edge has been used or not. However, the cutting edge located on the bottom side of the storage section of the case body may not be visible. In this case, it is necessary to remove the cutting insert from the storage case and check whether the cutting edge located on the bottom side of the storage section of the case body has been used or not.

[0009] The insert set, cutting insert, and storage case according to the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. However, for the sake of convenience, the figures referred to below show only the components necessary for explaining the embodiments in a simplified form. Therefore, the insert set, cutting insert, and storage case according to the present disclosure may include any components not shown in the figures referred to. Furthermore, the dimensions of the components in the figures do not faithfully represent the actual dimensions of the components or the dimensional ratios of each member.

[0010] In this disclosure, the width direction refers to the width direction of the insert set or the storage case. The length direction refers to the length direction of the insert set or the storage case. In the drawings, "WD" refers to the width direction, "LD" refers to the length direction, "LDa" refers to one side in the length direction, "LDb" refers to the other side in the length direction, "HD" refers to the up-down direction, "HDa" refers to the upper side or upward direction, and "HDb" refers to the lower side or downward direction.

[0031] As shown in the examples of Figures 7 to 12, the case body 28 may have a plurality of first partition walls 34 located inside the case body 28 and extending in the width direction. The plurality of first partition walls 34 may be located at intervals in the length direction. The case body 28 may also have a second partition wall 36 located inside the case body 28 and extending in the length direction. The second partition wall 36 may be located inside the case body 28 so as to cross the plurality of first partition walls 34 in the longitudinal direction. The plurality of first partition walls 34 and second partition walls 36 may be located in a lattice pattern inside the case body 28.

[0032] The inside of the case body 28 may be partitioned into a plurality of storage sections (storage spaces) 28s for storing the cutting inserts 12 by a plurality of first partition walls 34 and a plurality of second partition walls 36. In other words, the case body 28 may have a plurality of storage sections 28s located therein.

[0033] 1 and 2, the storage case 16 may include a rectangular plate-shaped first lid 38 that opens and closes the first opening 28a of the case body 28. Examples of transparent materials for the first lid 38 include transparent resins such as polycarbonate, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyvinyl chloride.

[0034] The first lid 38 may be movable in the longitudinal direction while being guided by the upper ends of the pair of second side walls 32. Movement of the first lid 38 on one side in the longitudinal direction may be restricted by the upper end of one of the first side walls 30. Separation of the first lid 38 from the case body 28 may be restricted by the plurality of first upper pieces 30u and the plurality of second upper pieces 32u. The first lid 38 may be detachable from the other side in the longitudinal direction relative to the case body 28.

[0035] 3 and 4 , the storage case 16 may include a second lid 40 in the shape of a rectangular plate that opens and closes the second opening 28p of the case body 28. Examples of transparent materials for the second lid 40 include transparent resins such as polycarbonate, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyvinyl chloride.

[0036] The second lid 40 may be movable in the longitudinal direction while being guided by the lower ends of the pair of second side walls 32. Movement of the second lid 40 on one side in the longitudinal direction may be restricted by the lower end of one of the first side walls 30. Separation of the second lid 40 from the case body 28 may be restricted by the plurality of first lower pieces 30d and the plurality of second lower pieces 32d. The second lid 40 may be detachable from the other side in the longitudinal direction with respect to the case body 28. The second lid 40 may have the same shape as the first lid 38.

[0037] 1 to 4 , the insert set 10 may include a film-like sealing seal 42 that secures the first lid body 38 and the second lid body 40 to the case body 28. The sealing seal 42 may serve as both a first sealing seal that secures the first lid body 38 to the case body 28 and a second sealing seal that secures the second lid body 40 to the case body 28.

[0038] The material of the sealing seal 42 is not particularly limited, but examples thereof include synthetic resins such as olefin resins such as polyethylene and polypropylene, and polyester resins such as polyethylene terephthalate and polylactic acid.

[0039] The sealing seal 42 may have an upper surface portion 44 attached to the first lid body 38, a side surface portion 46 attached to the outer surface of one of the first side walls 30, and a lower surface portion 48 attached to the second lid body 40.

[0040] An upper surface 44 of the sealing seal 42 serving as the first sealing seal may have a first perforation 44m that breaks when the first opening 28a of the case body 28 is first opened by the first lid 38. A lower surface 48 of the sealing seal 42 serving as the second sealing seal may have a second perforation 48m that breaks when the second opening 28p of the case body 28 is first opened by the second lid 40.

[0041] 1 to 4 , the storage case 16 of the example of the present disclosure includes a first lid 38 that opens and closes the first opening 28a of the case body 28, and a second lid 40 that opens and closes the second opening 28p of the case body 28. Therefore, by opening the first opening 28a of the case body 28 with the first lid 38 while the second opening 28p of the case body 28 is closed with the second lid 40, the top surfaces 18 of the multiple cutting inserts 12 stored in the storage case 16 can be viewed from the outside (see FIG. 2 ).

[0042] Furthermore, after the storage case 16 is turned upside down, the second opening 28p of the case body 28 can be opened by the second lid 40 while the first opening 28a of the case body 28 is closed by the first lid 38. This allows the lower surfaces 20 of the multiple cutting inserts 12 stored in the storage case 16 to be viewed from the outside (see FIG. 4).

[0043] Therefore, according to the storage case 16 of the example disclosed herein, it is possible to easily determine whether the upper cutting edges 24 on the upper surface 18 side and the lower cutting edges 26 on the lower surface 20 side of the plurality of cutting inserts 12 stored in the storage case 16 have been used. As a result, the work of replacing the cutting inserts 12 in the holder of the cutting tool, in other words, the work of replacing the cutting inserts 12, can be performed efficiently. Furthermore, when the work of replacing the cutting inserts 12 is automated, the process of removing the cutting inserts using a robot arm can be performed efficiently.

[0044] Furthermore, if the first lid body 38 is made of a transparent material, even when the first opening 28a of the case main body 28 is closed by the first lid body 38, the upper surface 18 of the multiple cutting inserts 12 stored in the storage case 16 can be seen from the outside (see Figure 1).

[0045] If the second lid 40 is made of a transparent material, the storage case 16 may be turned upside down. In this case, even when the second opening 28p of the case body 28 is closed by the second lid 40, the lower surfaces 20 of the cutting inserts 12 stored in the storage case 16 can be viewed from the outside (see FIG. 3). This further enhances the above-mentioned effect.

[0046] In the storage case 16 of the example disclosed herein, if the first lid body 38 and the second lid body 40 have the same shape, it is sufficient to manufacture the same parts as the first lid body 38 and the second lid body 40, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost of the storage case 16.

[0047] In the present disclosure, "the same shape" does not necessarily mean that the shapes of the multiple components are the same in the strict sense, but rather allows for some unavoidable variation in shape that occurs in the manufacturing process due to manufacturing errors, etc. For example, in the present disclosure, if the first lid 38 and the second lid 40 are manufactured using the same mold, it can be said that the first lid 38 and the second lid 40 have the same shape.

[0048] The insert set 10 according to the example of the present disclosure includes a storage case 16. Therefore, the insert set 10 according to the present disclosure provides the same effects as those provided by the storage case 16 according to the present disclosure.

[0049] 1 and 2 , the insert set 10 includes the sealing seal 42 as the first sealing seal. In this case, the insert set 10 can reduce the risk of the first opening 28a of the case body 28 opening before the first opening 28a of the case body 28 is intentionally opened for the first time by the first lid 38.

[0050] When the upper surface 44 of the sealing seal 42 serving as the first sealing seal has the first perforation 44m, whether the first opening 28a of the case body 28 is open can be confirmed (visually) by whether the first perforation 44m is broken or not. This makes it possible to further improve the ease of handling of the insert set 10.

[0051] 3 and 4 , the insert set 10 includes a sealing seal 42 as the second sealing seal. In this case, the insert set 10 can reduce the risk of the second opening 28p of the case body 28 opening before the second opening 28p of the case body 28 is intentionally opened for the first time by the second lid 40. This can improve the ease of handling of the insert set 10.

[0052] When the underside 48 of the sealing seal 42 serving as the second sealing seal has the second perforation 48m, whether the second opening 28p of the case body 28 is open can be confirmed (visually) by checking whether the second perforation 48m is broken or not. This makes it possible to further improve the ease of handling of the insert set 10.

[0053] In one embodiment, (1) a storage case for storing cutting inserts, comprising a frame-shaped case body having a first opening located on the upper side, a second opening located on the lower side, and a storage section inside for accommodating the cutting inserts, a first lid body for opening and closing the first opening, and a second lid body for opening and closing the second opening.

[0054] (2) In the storage case of (1), the first lid and the second lid may have the same shape.

[0055] (3) The insert set includes a cutting insert and the storage case of (1) or (2) that stores the cutting insert.

[0056] (4) The insert set of (3) may further include a first sealing seal that fixes the first lid body to the case body, and a second sealing seal that fixes the second lid body to the case body.

[0057] (5) In the storage case of (4), the first sealing seal has an upper surface portion attached to the first lid body and a side surface portion attached to a side surface of the case body, and the upper surface portion may have a first perforation that breaks when the first opening is first opened by the first lid body.

[0058] (6) In the storage case of (4) or (5), the second sealing seal has a bottom surface portion attached to the second lid body and a side surface portion attached to a side surface of the case body, and the bottom surface portion may have a second perforation that breaks when the second opening is first opened by the second lid body.

[0059] The invention according to the present disclosure has been described above based on the drawings and embodiments. However, the invention according to the present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiments. In other words, the invention according to the present disclosure can be modified in various ways within the scope of the present disclosure, and embodiments obtained by appropriately combining the disclosed technical means are also included in the technical scope of the invention according to the present disclosure. In other words, it should be noted that a person skilled in the art can easily make various modifications or corrections based on the present disclosure. It should also be noted that these modifications or corrections are included in the scope of the present disclosure.
