Abstract

A method of controlling a position of a ship’s boat relative to its ship on a body of water is disclosed herein. The method comprises providing a relative position signal representing a location and / or orientation of one of the boat and the ship relative to the other, determining a boat position control signal on the basis of both the relative position signal and a predefined relative target position representing a relative location and / or orientation, and automatically controlling the position of the boat relative to the ship on the basis of the boat position control signal such that the boat is kept at the relative target position.
