Abstract

This invention is concerned with a method and reagents for the determination of chloride ions in leaves of the plant's samples herein, after also called analytes, in plant samples wherein conductometric chemical precipitation titration, one of the simplest analytical techniques used. The invention narrates about the detection of the chloride ions, an essential part of photosystem II of the plants, provide help in evolving oxygen from leaves of the plants to maintain atmospheric oxygen. In congruence with this aspect of the present invention, the essentiality of chloride regarding plant growth and metabolism can easily be demonstrated through titrating with AgNO3 conductometrically wherein method required only two regents, including AgNO3 and the aqueous extract prepared by crushing, boiling, de-pigmentation, filtration, and centrifugation. The application of this analytical technique indicates the equivalence point in chemical precipitation titration of the plant's tissue extract with AgNO3, useful to determine the environmental impact related to the reduced growth rate wherein low chloride contents interrelated to the oxidative burst in plants designates abridged metabolism. Depigmentation was effective in the separation of differential precipitation of halides ions herein, whereby developed method; a rapid, accurate, and straightforward for determining the chloride concentration in plants. The chemical analytical testing for chloride confirms the detection and separation of said ions in plants tissues extract.
