Description

[0001] The invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used in the power supply system of internal combustion engines of motor vehicles.

[0002] Currently, to eliminate the wave movement of fuel in the tank when vehicles are moving on various types of roads, which causes water hammer and the “breathing” effect, transverse and horizontal partitions are placed in the fuel tank.

[0003] The author was faced with the task of developing a simple-to-implement, technically feasible, reliable and efficient design for a vehicle fuel tank based on domestically produced products and materials, ensuring the elimination of fuel hydraulic shocks against the longitudinal and transverse walls of the tank body and, as a result, the elimination of the possible occurrence of electrostatic voltage, as well as a reduction in the ingress of dust and moisture from the atmospheric air into the tank due to the vacuum in the tank cavity due to its "breathing" effect.

[0004] When reviewing sources of patent and scientific and technical information, technical solutions were identified that make it possible to assess the possibility of using them in the claimed fuel tank.

Furthermore, the baffles are not removable, but rigidly attached to the inner walls of the tank, making them difficult to inspect during maintenance or replacement.

[0015] The fuel tank of a motor vehicle operates as follows. When a motor vehicle is moving on roads with complex terrain (ascents, descents, slopes, hillsides, potholes, etc.), the wave movement of fuel in the tank body 1 is not only damped by the surface of the transverse and longitudinal partitions 6 and 11, but also when the wave impact of the fuel on the partitions 6 and 11 occurs, the fuel is filtered as it passes through the pores of the double-sided polyurethane foam plates 8 and 13, each with a thickness of 5 ... 6 mm (the total thickness of the plates 8 and 13 is 10 ... 12 mm) with the number of pores per linear inch of no more than 60 (60 ppi - pores per inch) and the radial holes of the partitions 6 and 11. In this case, contaminant particles larger than the pore size of the polyurethane foam remain on the outer surface of the plates 8 and 13 of the partitions 6 and 11.During fuel tank maintenance, plates 8 and 13 are removed, pulled out of tank body 1 through opening 3, closed by removable flange 4, and washed with gasoline or diesel fuel in a bath using the "rinsing" method for subsequent installation in tank body 1. If necessary, the "old" polyurethane foam plates are replaced with new ones.

A fuel tank for a motor vehicle according to paragraph 1, characterized in that the polyurethane plates are identical in configuration to the metal plates of the transverse and longitudinal partitions, and the length of which is selected to match the internal dimensions of the fuel tank body of a specific brand of motor vehicle.
