Description

BACKGROUND

[0001] The present disclosure claims priority to United States Provisional Patent Disclosure Ser. No. 63 / 407,345.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to walking sticks.

[0003] For centuries, walking has proven itself to be a low-impact form of exercise that's perfect for all ages and skill levels. With a walking stick in hand, it's possible to conquer varying terrain with confidence. A lighted walking stick adds safety when walking in the dark.SUMMARY

[0004] A lighted walking stick according to one disclosed non-limiting embodiment of the present disclosure includes a transparent shaft defined along an axis; a handle mounted to the transparent shaft along the axis; an illuminator mounted within the handle and directed along the axis; and a tip mounted to the transparent shaft along the axis.

[0005] The foregoing features and elements may be combined in various combinations without exclusivity, unless expressly indicated otherwise. These features and elements as well as the operation thereof will become more apparent in light of the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be appreciated that the following description and drawings are intended to be exemplary in nature and non-limiting.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0006] Various features will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the following detailed description of the disclosed non-limiting embodiment. The drawings that accompany the detailed description can be briefly described as follows:

[0007] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a lighted hiking stick according to one disclosed non-limiting embodiment.

[0008] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a handle for the lighted hiking stick.

[0009] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a tip for the lighted hiking stick.

[0010] FIG. 4 is an end view of the handle for the lighted hiking stick.

[0011] FIG. 5 is an end view of the tip for the lighted hiking stick.DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0012] FIG. 1 schematically illustrates a lighted walking stick 20 that provides illumination for the entire stick and improves visibility of the user, ensuring other pedestrians and motorists are aware of the walker's position. The lighted walking stick 20 generally includes a transparent shaft 30 defined along an axis A, a handle 40 (FIGS. 2 and 3), an illuminator 50 and a tip 60 (FIGS. 4 and 5). The handle 40 and the tip 60 may be removable or permanently affixed to the shaft 30. The lighted hiking stick 20, in one embodiment, may be between 30 and 72 inches in length.

[0013] The transparent shaft 30 may, in one embodiment, be manufactured of any diameter transparent PVC rod. The handle 40 is mounted to the shaft 30 and may include a wrap 42 at least partially around the handle. The wrap 42 may be cordage or other material to provide a non-slip grip. The handle 40 contains an illuminator 50 such as a flashlight. The illuminator 50 may include a switch 52 accessible at an end of the handle 40 to turn the illuminator on and off. The illuminator 50 may be an LED light that provides a multiple of colors accessible by pressing the switch. The illuminator 50 may also provide flashing or other such momentary operation.

[0014] The tip 60 is mounted to the transparent shaft 30 along the axis and may include a rubber end 62. The tip 60 may also include a reflector 64 to reflect the light passing though the shaft 30 from the illuminator 50 which projects along the axis A.

[0015] The transparent structure of the PVC material increases the illumination to increase visibility.

[0016] Although the different non-limiting embodiments have specific illustrated components, the embodiments of this invention are not limited to those particular combinations. It is possible to use some of the components or features from any of the non-limiting embodiments in combination with features or components from any of the other non-limiting embodiments.

[0017] The foregoing description is exemplary rather than defined by the limitations within. Various non-limiting embodiments are disclosed herein, however, one of ordinary skill in the art would recognize that various modifications and variations in light of the above teachings will fall within the scope of the appended claims. It is therefore to be appreciated that within the scope of the appended claims, the disclosure may be practiced other than as specifically described. For that reason the appended claims should be studied to determine true scope and content.
