FIELD

[0001] The present subject matter, in general, is directed to the field of golf club cleaners and, more particularly, is directed to the field of portable products made to clean golf clubs.BACKGROUND

[0002] In the field of golf club cleaners, products of about seventy years ago included complex slide mechanisms. For instance, U.S. Pat. No. 2,682,072 granted Jun. 29, 1954, to Green discloses a golf club-cleaning product including a slide-equipped tool designed, adapted, and configured to remove soft and / or caked dirt from a face and / or grooves of a golf club head. Moreover, products available about sixty years ago were cumbersome. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 3,148,396 granted Sep. 15, 1964, to Smith discloses a golf club head cleaner including a pair of vertically disposed shafts and a first mechanism for rotatably supporting the shafts in spaced relationship. A pair of rotary brushes is mounted on each shaft; and each pair of brushes is axially spaced along its respective shaft. This product includes a second mechanism designed to supply cleaning liquid to the brushes.

[0013] For golf enthusiasts who want clean golf club heads, it would be desirable to have available for purchase, a portable, simple-to-use, easy-to-assemble golf head-cleaning system which is scalable to an assortment of container sizes including about 2 to 20 gallons. That is why I designed a golf club head cleaning system that includes a scalable frame which I configured to fit easily very in all commercially available buckets, especially 3-gallon to 5-gallon buckets with handles. My system includes a pair of cleaning brushes, secured in a spaced-apart manner to the frame, for cleaning golf club heads in the bucket.SUMMARY

[0014] My portable golf club cleaning system may be summarized as follows. My system includes a frame that is “scalable,” which means that my frame is designed to be adapted and configured for removably securing it into a portable container having a handle, such as a 5-gallon or a 3-gallon bucket, for cleaning a soiled golf club head within the container.

[0015] In embodiments, the frame of the present subject matter includes a central region and is constructed of several tubular members held together by four joints. Four tubular members provide vertically oriented legs. Four other tubular members provide vertically oriented posts used to secure the frame to a bucket. Two horizontally oriented tubular members, which are longer than the eight members mentioned, are used to removably secure golf club head-cleaning brushes within the central region of the frame. Two other horizontally oriented tubular members are oriented transverse to the longer members.

Claims

1. A portable golf club cleaning system adapted and configured for removable securing within a container and for therein cleaning a soiled golf club head, wherein the golf club cleaning system comprises:a frame adapted and configured for insertion into a container, wherein the frame includes a plurality of frame locations for securing the frame to the container;a plurality of securing mechanisms for securing the frame to the container, wherein each one of the plural securing mechanisms is located at a respective one of the plural frame locations, wherein each one of the plural securing mechanisms is adapted and configured for enabling the plurality of securing mechanisms collectively to removably secure the frame within the container; anda pair of brushes, wherein each of the brushes includes a head and a plurality of bristles extending from its head, wherein each brush head is removably secured to the frame such that end portions of the plural bristles of one of the pair of brushes are spaced closely adjacent to end portions of the plural bristles of the other one of the pair of brushes for enabling a soiled golf club head to be urged therebetween for cleaning the soiled golf club head.

2. The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 1, wherein the container is a bucket having a base, wherein each one of the pair of brush heads is horizontally disposed, and wherein each of the pair of brush heads is spaced about 11.5 centimeters above the base.

3. The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 2, wherein the container comprises a 3-gallon bucket.

4. The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 2, wherein the container comprises a 5-gallon bucket.

5. The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 1, wherein the container comprises an about 2-gallon to an about 20-gallon bucket.

6. The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 5, wherein the container comprises an about 3-gallon to an about 15-gallon bucket.

7. The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 6, wherein the container comprises an about 5-gallon to an about 10-gallon bucket.

The portable golf club cleaning system of claim 1, wherein the frame comprises:at least four one-piece joints, wherein each joint includes a main portion, a first branch portion unitary with the main portion, and a second branch portion unitary with the main portion, wherein the main portion and each of the first and second branch portions are hollow, wherein the main portion is oriented along an axis, wherein the first and second branch portions are oriented transverse to the axis and to each other, wherein the main portion has a spaced-apart pair of open ends and each of the first and second branch portions has an open end;at least four lower extensions, wherein each one of the four lower extensions has an end portion adapted to be frictionally removably securable within one of the spaced-apart pair of open ends of a respective one of the at least four joints;at least four upper extensions, wherein each one of the four upper extensions has an end portion adapted to be frictionally removably securable within the other one of the spaced-apart open ends of a respective one of the at least four joints;a first pair of parallel-spaced members, wherein each one of the first pair of parallel-spaced members has opposite end portions configured to be frictionally removably securable within the open end of a respective one of the first branch portion or the second branch portion of one of the at least four joints; anda second pair of parallel-spaced members, wherein each one of the second pair of parallel-spaced members has opposite end portions adapted to be frictionally removably securable within the other open end of a respective one of the first branch portion or the second branch portion of said one of the at least four joints,wherein the first pair of parallel-spaced members and the second pair of members are transversely disposed to each other when both pair are secured to the joint.
