Abstract

A hairstyling apparatus for applying styling substances to the hair and forming the hair includes a bottle for containing and dispensing a styling fluid and a comb for straightening or otherwise shaping the hair. A spine of the comb is coupled to the bottle, is oriented parallel to a longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle, and is offset from the longitudinal axis. The perimeter wall of the bottle may be grasped to use the bottle as a handle for the comb. The comb has teeth which may be oriented to extend generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall and away from the bottle. A hair pick may be mounted to the bottle and spaced away from the comb.

The bottle has a base wall and a perimeter wall which is coupled to and extends away from the base wall. The bottle defines a reservoir surrounded by the base wall and the perimeter wall. The perimeter wall is elongated and defines a grip surface on an exterior of the bottle. The bottle is configured for dispensing the styling fluid such as by pouring or dispensing via a pump, sprayer, or the like. A comb is attached to and extends away from the bottle. The comb comprises a spine and a plurality of teeth. The spine extends in a direction generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle. The teeth are coupled to and extend away from the spine in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle. The spine is spaced away from the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle.

[0016] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new hairstyling apparatus embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0017] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the hairstyling apparatus 10 generally comprises a bottle 12 for containing a styling fluid 64. The styling fluid 64 may be any fluid for application to hair, such as water, hairspray, conditioner, dye, shampoo, or the like. The bottle 12 has a base wall 14 and a perimeter wall 18 which is coupled to and extends away from the base wall 14. The bottle 12 defines a reservoir 24 which is surrounded by the base wall 14 and the perimeter wall 18. The perimeter wall 18 is elongated and defines a grip surface 22 on an exterior of the perimeter wall 18. The grip surface 22 has a cylindrical shape but may have other suitable shapes for gripping the bottle 12. For example, the grip surface 22 may be a rectangular tube or may have contours including finger recesses and the like for conforming to a user's hand. The perimeter has a distal edge 20 with respect to the base wall 14 which defines an aperture to the reservoir 24.

[0018] A dispensing mechanism 26 is mounted to the distal edge 20 of the perimeter wall 18 of the bottle 12. The dispensing mechanism 26 comprises a tube 28 which extends into the reservoir 24 of the bottle 12 and a pump 30 in fluid communication with the tube 28. The pump 30 is operable to draw the styling fluid 64 through the tube 28 and dispense the styling fluid 64 through a nozzle 32 which extends into the pump 30. The pump 30 shown is of the type wherein a head 34 member of the pump 30 is depressible toward the bottle 12 to expel fluid contained in a cavity 36 of the head 34 and which draws fluid from the reservoir 24, through the tube 28, and into the cavity 36 of the head 34 when released. A spring or other biasing member may cause the head 34 to move away from the bottle 12 when released, and one-way valves may be implemented to permit fluid only from the tube 28 to the cavity 36 and only out of the head 34 through the nozzle 32 from the cavity 36.

[0019] The dispensing mechanism 26 is detachable from the bottle 12. The dispensing mechanism 26 is attached via a threaded coupling 38, but other connectors may be used. For example, a snap connection, a latch, an interference fit, or other suitable connector may releasably attach the dispensing mechanism 26 to the bottle 12. In some embodiments, the dispensing mechanism 26 may be integrally formed with the bottle 12. The pump 30 may have a trigger or other actuator for urging the styling fluid 64 out of the bottle 12 in other embodiments. A cap may also be removably positioned over the dispensing mechanism 26 to prevent leaks or spills from the bottle 12 in some embodiments. The nozzle 32 may be formed to atomize the styling fluid 64, spray the styling fluid 64 in a stream, or dispense it into a contained area such as a palm, a finger, or a head 34. In some embodiments, the bottle 12 may be without a dispensing mechanism 26. In such embodiments, the styling fluid 64 may be poured or squeezed out of the bottle 12, and a lid may be used to contain the styling fluid 64.

[0020] A comb 40 is attached to and extends away from the bottle 12. As used in the disclosure, “comb” may refer to any tool for forming hair by drawing a plurality of teeth of the tool through the hair and includes hairbrushes. Here, the term “teeth” is also used broadly to encompass spokes or hairs, such as that of hairbrushes. The comb 40 comprises a spine 42 and a plurality of teeth 44. The teeth 44 may be rigid or resiliently flexible in various embodiments. The spine 42 of the comb 40 depicted in the figures extends in a direction generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall 18 of the bottle 12. The teeth 44 are coupled to and extend away from the spine 42 in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall 18 of the bottle 12. The spine 42 is attached to the base wall 14 of the bottle 12 adjacent to a perimeter edge 16 of the base wall 14. The teeth 44 also extend outwardly with respect to the bottle 12.

The hair pick 46 has an elongate body 48 which extends away from the bottle 12 and tapers away from the bottle 12 to a distal point 50 relative to the bottle 12. The hair pick 46 is positioned adjacent to the perimeter wall 18 of the bottle 12 to maximize the gap formed between the hair pick 46 and the comb 40, thereby providing ample room for a user to draw the hair pick 46 through hair without interference from the comb 40. The teeth 44 of the comb 40 extend away from the spine 42 in a direction away from the hair pick 46, and the hair pick 46 lies on a common plane with the teeth 44 of the comb 40. The hair pick 46 is oriented generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall 18 of the bottle 12.

[0022] In use, the bottle 12 may be used to contain and dispense the styling fluid 64. The bottle 12 defines a handle for both the comb 40 and the hair pick 46. A user 60 may grasp the grip surface 22 of the bottle 12 to straighten, detangle, or otherwise form or style hair 62 using the comb 40. The user 60 may also grasp the grip surface 22 when using the hair pick 46 on hair 62, such as by inserting the distal point 50 through hair 62 to establish a clear part in the hair 62.

Claims

1. A hairstyling apparatus comprising:a bottle for containing a styling fluid, the bottle comprising a base wall and a perimeter wall, the perimeter wall being coupled to and extending away from the base wall, the bottle defining a reservoir surrounded by the base wall and the perimeter wall, the perimeter wall being elongated and defining a grip surface, the bottle being configured for dispensing the styling fluid; anda comb attached to and extending away from the bottle, the comb comprising a spine and a plurality of teeth, the spine extending in a direction generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle, the teeth being coupled to and extending away from the spine in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle, the spine being spaced from the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the spine is attached to the base wall of the bottle adjacent to a perimeter edge of the base wall, the teeth of the comb extending outwardly with respect to the bottle.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a hair pick mounted to the bottle, the hair pick having an elongate body which extends away from the bottle.

4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the hair pick is mounted on the base wall, the hair pick being spaced from the comb.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the hair pick is positioned adjacent to the perimeter wall of the bottle.

6. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the teeth of the comb extend away from the spine in a direction away from the hair pick.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the hair pick lies on a common plane with the teeth of the comb.

8. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the hair pick is oriented generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle.

9. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the elongate body of the hair pick tapers from the bottle to a distal point with respect to the bottle.

10. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a dispensing mechanism coupled to the bottle configured for dispensing the styling fluid.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein:the perimeter has a distal edge with respect to the base wall which defines an aperture to the reservoir; andthe dispensing mechanism is mounted to the distal edge of the perimeter wall of the bottle.

12. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the dispensing mechanism comprises a tube which extends into the reservoir of the bottle and a pump in fluid communication with the tube, the pump being operable to draw the styling fluid through the tube and dispense the styling fluid through a nozzle which extends into the pump.

13. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the dispensing mechanism is detachable from the bottle.

A hairstyling apparatus comprising:a bottle for containing a styling fluid, the bottle comprising a base wall and a perimeter wall, the perimeter wall being coupled to and extending away from the base wall, the bottle defining a reservoir surrounded by the base wall and the perimeter wall, the perimeter wall being elongated and defining a grip surface, the perimeter having a distal edge with respect to the base wall which defines an aperture to the reservoir;a comb attached to and extending away from the bottle, the comb comprising a spine and a plurality of teeth, the spine extending in a direction generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle, the teeth being coupled to and extending away from the spine in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle, the spine being attached to the base wall of the bottle adjacent to a perimeter edge of the base wall, the teeth extending outwardly with respect to the bottle;a hair pick mounted to the bottle, the hair pick having an elongate body which extends away from the bottle, the hair pick being mounted on the base wall, the hair pick being spaced from the comb, the hair pick being positioned adjacent to the perimeter wall of the bottle, the teeth of the comb extending away from the spine in a direction away from the hair pick, the hair pick lying on a common plane with the teeth of the comb, the hair pick being oriented generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the perimeter wall of the bottle, the elongate body of the hair pick tapering from the bottle to a distal point with respect to the bottle; anda dispensing mechanism coupled to the bottle configured for dispensing the styling fluid, the dispensing mechanism being mounted to the distal edge of the perimeter wall of the bottle, the dispensing mechanism comprising a tube which extends into the reservoir of the bottle and a pump in fluid communication with the tube, the pump being operable to draw the styling fluid through the tube and dispense the styling fluid through a nozzle which extends into the pump, the dispensing mechanism being detachable from the bottle.
