Description

Non-aqueous electrolyte and storage device containing the same

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte containing an additive of a specific structure and a storage device containing the same.

[0002] Since the characteristics of a lithium secondary battery are determined by the complex reactions of the positive electrode and electrolyte, negative electrode and electrolyte, the use of electrolyte is one of the important variables that improves the performance of a lithium secondary battery.

[0003] Recently, with the simultaneous demand for miniaturization and larger capacity in lithium secondary batteries, the performance requirements for electrolytes used in these batteries are also gradually increasing. Accordingly, active research is being conducted on organic electrolytes that exhibit high ionic conductivity and dielectric constant, and facilitate high voltage and miniaturization. However, organic electrolytes can cause side reactions between the electrodes and electrolyte, which can reduce the lifespan of lithium secondary batteries. Furthermore, their physical properties change significantly with temperature, leading to deterioration in battery performance in low- or high-temperature environments.

[0004] To address this, the development of additives that can suppress side reactions with the electrode and maintain stability even under temperature changes is required. However, additives for non-aqueous electrolytes developed to date have limitations, such as reduced ionic conductivity and output characteristics, even if stability is improved. Furthermore, when using layered, high-capacity cathode materials with high nickel content or lithium metal as the anode material, stability improvements are limited.

[0005] One aspect of the present invention aims to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte capable of simultaneously achieving excellent ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability, and a storage device including the same.

[0119] <Physical property evaluation method>

[0120] 1. Initial discharge capacity

[0121] The lithium secondary batteries manufactured in the examples and comparative examples were charged for 3 hours in a constant temperature bath at 25°C at a constant current and constant voltage of 1C to a final voltage of 4.2V, and then discharged to a final voltage of 3.0V under a constant current of 1C, and the initial discharge capacity (C1) was measured.

[0122] 2. Capacity retention rate

[0123] For the lithium secondary batteries manufactured in the examples and comparative examples, the charging and discharging process was repeated 500 times according to the initial discharge capacity measurement method described above, and the 500th discharge capacity (C2) was measured and the capacity retention rate was calculated.

[0124] Capacity retention rate (%) = C2 / C1 X 100

[0125] 3. Output characteristics

[0126] The lithium secondary batteries manufactured in the examples and comparative examples were charged at 1C CC / CV (4.2 V CUT-OFF) and then discharged at 2C CC up to 150 mA. Thereafter, the C-rate was varied at 0.5C, 1C, 2C, and 4C, and the discharge and recharge were performed for 10 seconds each, and the DCIR was measured. The output (pulse power) value was calculated from the measured DCIR value.
