[0077] Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide a dimming panel and a display device. The dimming panel and the display device are respectively introduced below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0078] As shown in FIG1 , some embodiments of the present disclosure provide a display device 1000. The display device 1000 can be any device that displays either moving (e.g., video) or stationary (e.g., still images), and whether text or images. More specifically, it is contemplated that the embodiments described may be implemented in or associated with a variety of electronic devices, such as (but not limited to) mobile phones, wireless devices, personal data assistants (PDAs), handheld or portable computers, GPS receivers / navigators, cameras, MP4 video players, camcorders, game consoles, television monitors, flat-panel displays, computer monitors, automotive displays (e.g., odometer displays, etc.), navigation systems, cockpit controls and / or displays, and the like.
[0079] In some examples, as shown in FIG2 , the display device 1000 includes a backlight module 200, a dimming panel 100, a display panel 300, and a housing 400. The dimming panel 100 is disposed on the light-emitting side of the backlight module 200, and the display panel 300 is disposed on the side of the dimming panel 100 away from the backlight module 200. The backlight module 200, the dimming panel 100, and the display panel 300 are disposed within the housing 400. The housing 400 has a certain strength and can provide protection for the backlight module 200, the dimming panel 100, and the display panel 300 disposed within the housing 400. For example, the housing can be made of plastic.
[0080] Here, the backlight module 200 is used to provide backlight. The light-emitting side of the backlight module refers to the side from which the backlight module emits light.
[0081] The dimming panel 100 is used to adjust the light passing through it. The display panel is used to cooperate with the backlight module and the dimming panel to realize image display. Using the dimming panel to adjust the light passing through it can provide the display device 1000 with an anti-peeping function or enable the display device 1000 to achieve a high-contrast display function.
[0082] The display panel 300 is, for example, a liquid crystal display panel. Depending on the display mode, the display panel 300 can be a twisted nematic (TN) display panel, an in-plane switching (IPS) display panel, an advanced super-dimensional switching (ADS) display panel, etc. The display panel 300 can be selected based on actual needs and is not limited in this disclosure.
[0083] Exemplarily, the display panel 300 may be driven by a passive matrix (PM) driving mode or an active matrix (AM) driving mode. When the display panel 300 is driven by an active matrix driving mode, the display panel 300 may be, for example, a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panel.
[0084] In some examples, as shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 , along a direction perpendicular to and away from the backlight module 200 , the display panel 300 includes an array substrate 310 , a second liquid crystal layer 320 , and a color filter substrate 330 stacked in sequence.
[0085] Exemplarily, the array substrate 310 includes a plurality of thin film transistors and a plurality of pixel electrodes electrically connected to the plurality of thin film transistors, respectively. Each thin film transistor can provide an electrical signal to a corresponding pixel electrode.
[0086] Exemplarily, the color filter substrate 330 includes a variety of color filters and other structures. For example, when the light incident on the color filter is white light, the color filters may include a red filter, a green filter, and a blue filter. The red filter only transmits red light from the incident light, the green filter only transmits green light from the incident light, and the blue filter only transmits blue light from the incident light. For another example, when the light incident on the color filter is blue light, the color filters may include a red filter and a green filter.
[0087] As shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 , the color filter substrate 330 further includes a black matrix 331 .
[0088] Exemplarily, the black matrix 331 may be disposed between adjacent color filters to isolate color filters of different colors and avoid light mixing.
[0089] Exemplarily, the black matrix 331 may also be disposed in an area adjacent to the display area AA and the peripheral area BB to prevent oblique light from the peripheral area BB from emitting from the display area AA, thereby shielding the display area AA and preventing light leakage.
[0090] The display panel further includes a common electrode, which can be arranged in the array substrate or in the color filter substrate. The common electrode is used to receive a common voltage signal.
[0091] For example, a voltage difference exists between the common voltage signal and the electrical signal within the pixel electrode, thereby generating an electric field between the common electrode and the pixel electrode. This electric field causes the liquid crystal molecules in the second liquid crystal layer to deflect, thereby changing the amount of light passing through the liquid crystal molecules, so that the light emitted by the liquid crystal molecules reaches a predetermined brightness. This light then passes through the different colored filters within the color filter substrate before being emitted. This emitted light includes various colors, such as red, green, and blue. These colors interact to enable the display device to achieve a display.
[0092] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 5A and 5B, the dimming panel 100 has a display area AA and a peripheral area BB surrounding the display area AA. The display area AA corresponds to the area of the display panel 300 used for displaying images, and the peripheral area BB is the area of the dimming panel 100 other than the display area AA, and surrounds the display area AA.
[0093] In some examples, as shown in FIG6 and FIG7 , the dimming panel 100 includes a first substrate 1 , a second substrate 2 , a sealing adhesive 3 , a first liquid crystal layer 4 , a functional electrode layer 5 , a conductive layer 6 and a common electrode layer 7 .
[0094] The first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2 are arranged opposite to each other. The material of the first substrate 1 and the material of the second substrate 2 can be the same or different. The material of the first substrate 1 and the material of the second substrate 2 can include organic materials or inorganic materials.
[0095] For example, the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2 are both glass substrates.
[0096] The aforementioned frame sealant 3 connects the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2. As shown in Figures 5A and 5B, the frame sealant 3 is located in the peripheral area BB and surrounds the display area AA. The frame sealant 3 not only supports the first and second substrates 1 and 2 but also forms a sealed cavity with the first and second substrates 1 and 2, providing space for the first liquid crystal layer 4. The first liquid crystal layer 4 is disposed within the cavity enclosed by the first substrate 1, the frame sealant 3, and the second substrate 2.
[0097] The sealed cavity can also isolate the air to prevent the first liquid crystal layer 4 in the cavity from being contaminated.
[0098] Exemplarily, the material of the frame sealant 3 includes organic material.
[0099] As shown in Figures 6 and 7, the functional electrode layer 5 is provided on a side of the first substrate 1 close to the first liquid crystal layer 4. The functional electrode layer 5 includes a driving electrode 51 located in the display area AA.
[0100] There are many ways to configure the driving electrodes 51 , and they can be configured according to actual display requirements.
[0101] For example, as shown in FIG5A , the driving electrode 51 is an integrated structure, that is, only one driving electrode 51 is disposed in the display area AA.
[0102] For another example, as shown in FIG5B , the driving electrode 51 may be divided into a plurality of patterns, that is, the driving electrode 51 may include a plurality of mutually independent driving electrode blocks.
[0103] For example, the material of the functional electrode layer 5 may include a transparent conductive material, including but not limited to indium tin oxide. This allows the driving electrode 51 located in the display area AA to have a high light transmittance, thereby avoiding blocking light and affecting the display effect of the display device 1000.
[0104] As shown in Figures 6 and 7 , the conductive layer 6 is disposed between the first substrate 1 and the functional electrode layer 5. The conductive layer 6 includes drive signal lines 61, which are partially located in the display area BB. The drive signal lines 61 are electrically connected to the drive electrodes 51 and are configured to receive drive signals required by the drive electrodes 51 and transmit the drive signals to the drive electrodes 51.
[0105] The material of the functional electrode layer 5 and the material of the conductive layer 6 can be the same or different. For example, the material of the functional electrode layer 5 and the material of the conductive layer 6 are different, and the material of the conductive layer 6 can include a metal material, including but not limited to copper, gold, or silver. This can reduce the attenuation of the signals transmitted by the various signal lines (including but not limited to the aforementioned drive signal line 61) provided in the conductive layer 6.
[0106] The location of the common electrode layer 7 is related to the display mode of the dimming panel 100 , and can be specifically determined according to the display mode of the dimming panel 100 .
[0107] In some examples, as shown in FIG. 7 , the dimming panel 100 is in an advanced super-dimensional field switching display mode. In this case, the common electrode layer 7 is disposed between the conductive layer 6 and the functional electrode layer 5 .
[0108] Furthermore, as shown in FIG7 , insulating layers are provided between the common electrode layer 7 and the conductive layer 6, and between the common electrode layer 7 and the functional electrode layer 5. The insulating layer between the common electrode layer 7 and the conductive layer 6, the common electrode layer 7, and the insulating layer between the common electrode layer 7 and the functional electrode layer 5 are provided with vias, and the drive electrodes 51 in the functional electrode layer 5 can be electrically connected to the drive signal lines 61 in the conductive layer 6 through the corresponding vias.
[0109] In other examples, as shown in FIG6 , the dimming panel 100 is in a twisted nematic display mode. In this case, the common electrode layer 7 is disposed on a side of the second substrate 2 close to the first liquid crystal layer 4 .
[0110] Furthermore, an insulating layer is provided between the functional electrode layer 5 and the conductive layer 6 , and the insulating layer has via holes. The driving electrode 51 can be electrically connected to the driving signal line 61 through the corresponding via holes without passing through the common electrode layer 7 .
[0111] For example, the common electrode layer 7 may be made of a transparent conductive material, including but not limited to indium tin oxide. This allows the common electrode layer 7 to have a high light transmittance, thereby preventing light from passing through the portion of the common electrode layer 7 located in the display area AA and affecting the display effect of the display device 1000.
[0112] The common electrode layer 7 can receive a common voltage signal, which can be the same as or different from the common voltage signal received by the common electrode of the display panel 300. A voltage difference exists between the common voltage signal received by the common electrode layer 7 and the drive signal received by the drive electrode 51, thereby forming an electric field between the common electrode layer 7 and the drive electrode 51. This electric field can drive the liquid crystal molecules in the first liquid crystal layer 4 to deflect, thereby adjusting the polarization direction of light passing through the dimming panel 100.
[0113] In one implementation, as shown in Figures 8 and 9 , after the dimming panel 100 is manufactured, it is necessary to perform a high-temperature reliability test on the dimming panel 100. After the test, the frame sealant 3 releases impurity ions P (e.g., silicon, oxygen, aluminum, titanium, boron, aromatic groups, etc.), which gradually diffuse into the first liquid crystal layer 4 and diffuse from the peripheral area BB of the dimming panel 100 to the display area AA.
[0114] The impurity ions P generally carry an electric charge. After diffusing into the display area AA, they affect the electric field formed by the common electrode layer and the drive electrode (as indicated by the dotted arrows in Figures 8 and 9). This can cause the liquid crystal molecules in the area where the impurity ions are located to malfunction, making it difficult to control light in the portion of the display area AA near the peripheral area BB. This can lead to light leakage in this portion (e.g., manifested as a peak-shaped display defect).
[0115] Currently, the influence of the impurity ions P on the liquid crystal molecules is usually reduced by reducing the content of the impurity ions P in the frame-sealing glue 3. However, it is difficult to fundamentally remove the impurity ions in the frame-sealing glue 3 with the current process, which means that the influence of the impurity ions P on the liquid crystal molecules is also difficult to eradicate.
[0116] Based on this, in conjunction with Figures 5A, 5B, 6, and 7, in the dimming panel 100 provided in the embodiment of the present disclosure, the functional electrode layer 5 further includes: a control electrode 52 located in the peripheral area BB. The control electrode 52 is located on the side of the frame sealant 3 close to the display area AA and surrounds at least a portion of the display area AA.
[0117] The control electrode 52 is, for example, disposed on at least one side of the display area AA. Optionally, the display area AA is rectangular, and the control electrode 52 is disposed on one side of the display area AA; or, as shown in FIG5A and FIG5B , the control electrode 52 is disposed on multiple sides of the display area AA.
[0118] As shown in Figures 5A and 5B, the conductive layer 6 further includes a control signal line 62. The control signal line 62 includes a first control signal line 621 and a second control signal line 622 that are connected to each other. The first control signal line 621 is located on the side of the frame sealant 3 close to the display area AA, and the second control signal line 622 is located on the side of the frame sealant 3 away from the display area AA. The first control signal line 621 is electrically connected to the control electrode 52.
[0119] For example, as shown in FIG6 , when the common electrode layer 7 is disposed on a side of the second substrate 2 close to the first liquid crystal layer 4, the control electrode 52 can be electrically connected to the first control signal line 621 through a corresponding via. In this case, the via penetrates the insulating layer between the functional electrode layer 5 and the conductive layer 6.
[0120] For another example, as shown in FIG7 , when the common electrode layer 7 is disposed between the conductive layer 6 and the functional electrode layer 5, the control electrode 52 can be electrically connected to the first control signal line 621 through a corresponding via. It is understood that in this case, the via penetrates the insulating layer between the functional electrode layer 5 and the conductive layer 6, as well as the common electrode layer 7.
[0121] The second control signal line 622 is used to receive the control signal and transmit the control signal to the first control signal line 621, and finally to the control electrode 52. There is a voltage difference between the control voltage transmitted from the first control signal line 621 to the control electrode 52 and the common voltage transmitted from the common electrode layer 7.
[0122] As shown in Figures 6 and 7 , an electric field (also called a confining electric field, as indicated by the dotted arrows in Figures 6 and 7 ) is formed between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7 . This electric field is distributed in the peripheral area BB. Impurity ions P released from the sealant 3 are confined in the peripheral area BB due to the presence of this electric field during their diffusion from the peripheral area BB to the display area AA, making it difficult for these impurity ions to diffuse into the display area AA.
[0123] Thus, the dimming panel 100 provided in the embodiment of the present disclosure provides a control electrode 52 in the functional conductive layer 5, such that the control electrode 52 is located in the peripheral area BB, and provides a first control signal line 621 electrically connected to the control electrode 52 in the conductive layer 6. The first control signal line 621 can be used to transmit a control signal having a voltage difference with the common voltage signal to the control electrode 52, thereby forming an electric field between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7. In this way, after the impurity ions P are released from the sealant 3 and diffuse into the first liquid crystal layer 4, the impurity ions P are confined to the peripheral area BB of the dimming panel 100 due to the presence of the above-mentioned electric field. This prevents the impurity ions P from diffusing from the peripheral area BB to the display area AA, thereby preventing the impurity ions P from affecting the electric field between the common electrode layer 7 and the drive electrode 51 in the display area AA, and preventing the impurity ions P from affecting the normal deflection of the liquid crystal molecules located between the common electrode layer 7 and the drive electrode 51, thereby facilitating light leakage in the portion of the display area AA near the peripheral area BB. When the material of the conductive layer 6 is metal material, the resistance of the control signal line 62 can be reduced, and the attenuation of the control voltage transmitted on the control signal line 62 can be reduced, which is beneficial to ensuring the stability of the electric field between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7, and ensuring the binding effect on the impurity ions P.
[0124] Furthermore, the disclosed embodiment disposes the control electrode 52 in the functional electrode layer 5 and the control signal line 62 in the conductive layer 6, rather than providing additional film layers. This avoids increasing the number of film layers in the dimming panel 100, and thus the thickness of the dimming panel 100. When the conductive layer 6 is made of a metal material, the resistance of the control signal line 62 can be reduced, reducing the attenuation of the control voltage transmitted on the control signal line 62. This helps to ensure the stability of the electric field between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7, and ensures the binding effect on the impurity ions P.
[0125] In some examples, in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the substrate 1 , the width of the control electrode 52 includes but is not limited to 0.12 mm.
[0126] It is understood that the greater the width of the control electrode 52, the greater the range of the electric field formed between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7, and the stronger the binding effect on the impurity ions P. In the disclosed embodiment, the width of the control electrode 52 can be adjusted according to the size of the dimming panel 100. This ensures a strong electric field between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7 while preventing the large width of the control electrode 52 from affecting the size of the peripheral area BB of the dimming panel 100.
[0127] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 5A and 5B, the orthographic projection of the first control signal line 621 on the first substrate 1 is located between the orthographic projection of the sealing glue 3 on the first substrate 1 and the orthographic projection of the display area AA on the first substrate 1, and at least partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the control electrode 52 on the first substrate 1.
[0128] It should be noted that the above “at least partially overlap” includes: partial overlap, full overlap, and overlap.
[0129] Through the above-mentioned setting, a plurality of connection holes can be set in the part where the orthographic projection of the first control signal line 621 on the first substrate 1 overlaps with the orthographic projection of the control electrode 52 on the first substrate 1 to realize the electrical connection between the first control signal line 621 and the control electrode 52. This not only facilitates improving the reliability of the electrical connection between the first control signal line 621 and the control electrode 52, but also reduces the overall resistance of the overlapping part of the first control signal line 621 and the control electrode 52, which is beneficial to reducing the loss of the control voltage during the transmission process of the above-mentioned overlapping part, and is beneficial to improving the stability of the electric field formed between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7, thereby ensuring the binding effect of the above-mentioned electric field on the impurity ions P.
[0130] Furthermore, the area occupied by the first control signal line 621 and the control electrode 52 in the entire dimming panel 100 can be reduced.
[0131] In other embodiments, as shown in FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B , the routing morphology of the first control signal line 621 is the same as the routing morphology of the control electrode 52 .
[0132] Here, “routing profile” refers to, for example, the extending direction and shape of the routing.
[0133] Exemplarily, the routing morphology of the first control signal line 621 is a straight line, and the routing morphology of the control electrode 52 is also a straight line.
[0134] Alternatively, the routing shape of the first control signal line 621 may be an arc shape, and the routing shape of the control electrode 52 may also be an arc shape.
[0135] Alternatively, as shown in FIG5B , the routing morphology of the first control signal line 621 is a multi-segment zigzag line, and the routing morphology of the control electrode 52 is also a multi-segment zigzag line. That is, as shown in FIG5C , the control electrode 52 includes a first sub-line 521, a second sub-line 522, a third sub-line 523, and a fourth sub-line 524 connected end to end. With reference to FIG5B , the first sub-line 521 is located below the display area AA, the second sub-line 522 is located to the left of the display area AA, the third sub-line 523 is located above the display area AA, and the fourth sub-line 524 is located to the right of the display area AA. Correspondingly, as shown in FIG5D , the first control signal line 621 also includes a fifth sub-line 6211, a sixth sub-line 6212, a seventh sub-line 6213, and an eighth sub-line 6214, which are sequentially connected end to end. Referring to FIG5B , the fifth sub-line 6211 is located below the display area AA, the sixth sub-line 6212 is located to the left of the display area AA, the seventh sub-line 6213 is located above the display area AA, and the eighth sub-line 6214 is located to the right of the display area AA. The first sub-line 521 corresponds to the fifth sub-line 6211, the second sub-line 522 corresponds to the sixth sub-line 6212, the third sub-line 523 corresponds to the seventh sub-line 6213, and the fourth sub-line 524 corresponds to the eighth sub-line 6214.
[0136] Through the above-mentioned setting, the positions where the control electrodes 52 are set in the dimming panel 100 are all correspondingly provided with control signal lines 62. Therefore, in the direction toward the plane where the first substrate 1 is located, the portion of the control signal line 62 located on the side of the sealing glue 3 close to the display area AA can form a transmission channel for the control signal together with the control electrode 52, which is also beneficial to reducing the area occupied by the control signal line and the control electrode.
[0137] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 5A and 5B , the peripheral area BB includes a first binding area B1 . The dimming panel 100 further includes at least one target pin 8 located in the first binding area B1 .
[0138] The number of the target pins 8 can be one, two, three or even more. In the case where there are multiple target pins 8, the types of the multiple target pins 8 can be the same or different.
[0139] Optionally, the number of target pins 8 may be one. As shown in Figures 10A, 10B, and 10C, the target pin 8 may be a first voltage signal pin 81, a second voltage signal pin 82, or a clock signal pin 83. The first voltage signal pin 81 is used to transmit a first voltage signal, which may be, for example, a high-level constant voltage signal. The second voltage signal pin 82 is used to transmit a second voltage signal, which may be, for example, a low-level constant voltage signal. The clock signal pin 83 is used to transmit a clock signal.
[0140] Exemplarily, there is a voltage difference between the first voltage signal, the second voltage signal, and the clock signal and the common voltage transmitted in the common electrode 71 .
[0141] Optionally, there may be two target pins 8 , and the two target pins 8 may be of different types. The two target pins 8 may be, for example, two of the first voltage signal pin 81 , the second voltage signal pin 82 , and the clock signal pin 83 .
[0142] Optionally, there may be three target pins 8 , and the three target pins 8 are of different types, wherein the three target pins 8 are, for example, a first voltage signal pin 81 , a second voltage signal pin 82 , and a clock signal pin 83 .
[0143] Optionally, the number of target pins 8 may be greater, wherein some of the target pins 8 are used to transmit display signals to the display panel 300 .
[0144] 5A and 5B , the second control signal line 622 is electrically connected to the target pin 8. The target pin 8 can receive a control voltage signal and transmit the control voltage signal to the first control signal line 621.
[0145] Here, the target pin 8 electrically connected to the second control signal line 622 only needs to receive one control voltage signal. For example, the second control signal line 622 can be electrically connected to only one of the first voltage signal pin 81, the second voltage signal pin 82, and the clock signal pin 83. Accordingly, the control voltage signal is one of the first voltage signal, the second voltage signal, and the clock signal.
[0146] Through the above arrangement, the control voltage signal transmitted from the target pin 8 can be transmitted to the second control signal line 622, and finally transmitted to the control electrode 52 through the first control signal line 621, thereby generating an electric field between the common electrode layer 7 and the control electrode 52 to bind the impurity ions. In addition, when the material of the conductive layer 6 is a metal material (such as copper, gold, silver, etc.), compared with transparent conductive materials (such as indium tin oxide), the resistance of the metal material is smaller. By providing the first control signal line 621 and the second control signal line 622 in the conductive layer 6, the resistance of the first control signal line 621 and the second control signal line 622 can be reduced, which can reduce the attenuation of the control signal transmitted to the control electrode 52, which is conducive to ensuring the stability of the above control signal, thereby ensuring the electric field strength between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode 71, and ensuring the binding effect on the impurity ions.
[0147] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 10C and 10D, the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 is spaced apart from the first binding area B1 and does not extend into the first binding area B1 to be directly connected to the first binding area B1. Optionally, the conductive layer 6 further includes a connecting wire 63, a first end 63A of the connecting wire 63 being bound to the target pin 8, and a second end 63B of the connecting wire 63 being electrically connected to the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622. In other words, the access end 622A of the control signal line 62 is electrically connected to the target pin 8 via the connecting wire 63.
[0148] There may be multiple connecting wires 63, and the first ends 63A of the multiple connecting wires 63 may be electrically connected to different types of target pins 8. For example, FIG10C and FIG10D illustrate three connecting wires 63, each of which has its first end 63A connected to different target pins 8. The second end 63B of one of the three connecting wires 63 is electrically connected to the second control signal line 622. In other words, the other two connecting wires 63 may serve as alternatives. If the connecting wire 63 electrically connected to the second control signal line 622 is damaged, the second control signal line 622 may be reconnected to the alternative connecting wire 63 to input a control signal to the second control signal line 622, thereby facilitating maintenance of the dimming panel 100.
[0149] There are multiple ways to electrically connect the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 and the second end 63B of the connection line 63 .
[0150] In some examples, as shown in FIG. 10C , the second end 63B of the connection line 63 and the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 are integrally formed.
[0151] That is, during the manufacturing process of the conductive layer 6, the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 and the connecting line 63 electrically connected thereto are continuous and unbroken. This allows the second control signal line 622 to be electrically connected to the connecting line 63 after the conductive layer 6 is manufactured, reducing the wiring complexity of the conductive layer 6 and simplifying the manufacturing process of the dimming panel 100.
[0152] In other examples, as shown in Figures 10D and 10E , the second end 63B of the connecting wire 63 is spaced apart from the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622. That is, during the fabrication of the conductive layer 6, the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 and the connecting wire 63 electrically connected thereto are disconnected. The functional electrode layer 5 further includes a bridge pattern 53 located between the second end of the connecting wire 63 and the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622. The second end 63B of the connecting wire 63 is electrically connected to the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 via the bridge pattern 53.
[0153] Exemplarily, one end of the bridging pattern 53 passes through a corresponding via in the insulating layer below it and contacts the second end 63B of the connecting line 63, thereby achieving electrical connection, and the other end of the bridging pattern 53 passes through a corresponding via in the insulating layer below it and contacts the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622, thereby achieving electrical connection.
[0154] With the above-mentioned setting method, even if the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 is far away from the second end 63B of the connecting line 63, electrical connection can be achieved through the bridging pattern 53, which can improve the setting flexibility of the position of the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 and the second end 63B of the connecting line 63, which is conducive to improving the wiring flexibility of the conductive layer 6.
[0155] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B , the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 is disposed opposite to the area occupied by the target pin 8 .
[0156] The “relative arrangement” here may mean that in the extension direction perpendicular to the first binding area B1 , the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 and the area occupied by the target pin 8 are facing each other.
[0157] By adopting the above-mentioned setting method, the distance between the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 and the target pin 8 can be reduced, the difficulty of connecting the access end 622A of the second control signal line 622 to the target pin 8 can be reduced, and the winding complexity of the connecting line 63 can be reduced, thereby reducing the design and manufacturing difficulty of the dimming panel 100.
[0158] In some embodiments, as shown in Figure 5C, as shown in Figure 5C, the control electrode 52 includes a first sub-line 521, a second sub-line 522, a third sub-line 523 and a fourth sub-line 524 connected end to end in sequence; the first sub-line 521 is located on the side of the display area AA close to the first binding area B1, and the first sub-line 521 and the fourth sub-line 524 are disconnected from each other to form an opening, and the above-mentioned opening is arranged opposite to the first binding area B1.
[0159] Exemplarily, the control electrode 52 is in the shape of a ring with an opening.
[0160] 5B , the first sub-line 521 is located below the display area AA, the second sub-line 522 is located on the left side of the display area AA, the third sub-line 523 is located above the display area AA, and the fourth sub-line 524 is located on the right side of the display area AA.
[0161] By arranging the opening opposite to the first binding area B1 , the opening can reserve space for other electrodes (such as the driving electrode 51 ), which is conducive to flexible arrangement of the position of the driving electrode 51 .
[0162] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B , the first control signal line 621 is in an open ring shape.
[0163] For example, as shown in Figures 5B and 5D , the first control signal line 621 also includes a fifth sub-line 6211, a sixth sub-line 6212, a seventh sub-line 6213, and an eighth sub-line 6214, which are connected end to end. Referring to Figure 5B , the fifth sub-line 6211 is located below the display area AA, the sixth sub-line 6212 is located to the left of the display area AA, the seventh sub-line 6213 is located above the display area AA, and the eighth sub-line 6214 is located to the right of the display area AA. The fifth sub-line 6211 and the eighth sub-line 6214 are disconnected and spaced apart to provide space for other structures to avoid.
[0164] In some examples, as shown in FIG. 5A , the second control signal line 622 has two access terminals 62A, and both access terminals 62A are electrically connected to the target pin 8 .
[0165] 5D , the second control signal line 622 includes a ninth sub-line 6221 and a tenth sub-line 6222 that are disconnected from each other. The two access terminals 62A can be labeled as a first access terminal 62A1 and a second access terminal 62A2. The first access terminal 62A1 is located on the ninth sub-line 6221, and the second access terminal 62A2 is located on the tenth sub-line 6222.
[0166] The first access terminal 62A1 and the second access terminal 62A2 are both arranged near the first binding area B1. The first access terminal 62A1 is electrically connected to a target pin 8 in the first binding area B1 through a connecting line, and the second access terminal 62A2 is electrically connected to another target pin 8 in the first binding area B1 through a connecting line; moreover, the target pin 8 electrically connected to the first access terminal 62A1 and the target pin 8 electrically connected to the second access terminal 62A2 are the same type of target pin 8, so that the signal input by the target pin 8 to the second control signal line 622 is the same signal.
[0167] Exemplarily, the target pin 8 in the first binding area B1 is bound to the flexible circuit board, which can provide a control signal to the target pin 8 , and the target pin 8 can transmit the control signal to the access end 62A of the second control signal line 622 .
[0168] Through the above-mentioned setting, the control signal can be input into the control signal line 62 from the two access ends 62A of the control signal line 62 at the same time, reducing the attenuation of the control signal in the control signal line 62, making the control voltage in the control signal line 62 more stable, thereby ensuring the stability of the electric field formed between the common electrode layer 7 and the control electrode 52, and ensuring the binding effect on impurity ions.
[0169] In some embodiments, in combination with FIG. 11 and FIG. 12 , at least a portion of the first control signal lines 621 are arranged in a grid shape, and / or at least a portion of the second control signal lines 622 are arranged in a grid shape.
[0170] This can enhance the flexibility of the first control signal line 621 and / or the second control signal line 622, thereby improving the bending resistance of the first control signal line 621 and / or the second control signal line 622, and preventing the first control signal line 621 and / or the second control signal line 622 from being damaged due to bending. Furthermore, the above arrangement can also help reduce the light blocking effect of the first control signal line 621, thereby improving the dimming effect of the dimming panel 100.
[0171] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG6 , a minimum distance L1 between an orthographic projection of the control electrode 52 on the first substrate 1 and an orthographic projection of the sealant 3 on the first substrate 1 is greater than or equal to 0.2 mm.
[0172] For example, when the control electrode 52 includes a first sub-line 521, a second sub-line 522, a third sub-line 523, and a fourth sub-line 524 connected end to end, the distances between the first sub-line 521, the second sub-line 522, the third sub-line 523, and the fourth sub-line 524 and the frame sealant 3 can be the same, which can simplify the design of the dimming panel 100. Alternatively, the distances between the first sub-line 521, the second sub-line 522, the third sub-line 523, and the fourth sub-line 524 and the frame sealant 3 can be different, which can increase the flexibility of the arrangement of the control electrode 52 in the dimming panel 100.
[0173] 5B and 5C , the distances between the first sub-line 521 , the second sub-line 522 , the third sub-line 523 , and the fourth sub-line 524 and the frame sealant 3 are the same, and the minimum distance L1 between the control electrode 52 and the frame sealant 3 is the distance between any position on the control electrode 52 and the frame sealant 3 .
[0174] For example, when the distances between the first sub-line 521, the second sub-line 522, the third sub-line 523, and the fourth sub-line 524 and the frame sealant 3 are different, the minimum distance L1 may be the distance between the first sub-line 521 and the frame sealant 3, or the distance between the second sub-line 522 and the frame sealant 3, or the distance between the third sub-line 523 and the frame sealant 3, or the distance between the fourth sub-line 524 and the frame sealant 3. The minimum of the above distances is used as the value of L1.
[0175] Illustratively, the distance L1 may be 0.2 mm, 0.21 mm, 0.22 mm, 0.23 mm or 0.25 mm, etc.
[0176] Accordingly, when the dimming panel 100 is larger in size, the distance L1 may be set to be larger.
[0177] It can be understood that the material of the frame sealant 3 is an organic material, and the frame sealant 3 before curing has a certain fluidity.
[0178] Through the above-mentioned setting, an error space can be left between the frame sealing glue 3 and the control electrode 52. During the process of making the frame sealing glue 3, the material of the frame sealing glue 3 can be prevented from flowing and covering the control electrode 52, thereby avoiding affecting the electric field formed between the control electrode 52 and the common electrode layer 7.
[0179] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 5A and 5B , the functional electrode layer 5 further includes a transfer electrode 53 located in the peripheral area BB. The transfer electrode 53 is disposed on a surface of the sealant 3 on a side adjacent to the first substrate 1, i.e., the transfer electrode 53 is in direct contact with the sealant 3. The conductive layer 6 further includes a common voltage signal line 64 located in the peripheral area BB.
[0180] Exemplarily, the common voltage signal line 64 is used to introduce a common voltage signal and transmit the common voltage signal to the common electrode layer 7 .
[0181] It is understood that there are various electrical connection modes between the common voltage signal line 64 and the common electrode layer 7 , which may be determined specifically according to the position of the common electrode layer 7 .
[0182] In another implementation, when the common electrode layer 7 is located between the conductive layer 6 and the functional electrode layer 5, after the transfer electrode 53 is electrically connected to the common electrode layer 7 through the via, the common electrode layer 7 is electrically connected to the common voltage signal line 64 through the via. In this case, in the process of manufacturing the dimming panel 100, two punching processes are required to achieve the electrical connection between the transfer electrode 53 and the common electrode layer 7 and the common voltage signal line 64.
[0183] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, as shown in FIG. 7 , the switching electrode 53 is electrically connected to the common electrode layer 7 , and the switching electrode 53 is also electrically connected to the common voltage signal line 64 .
[0184] For example, a portion of the transfer electrode 53 may pass through the insulating layer between the functional electrode layer 5 and the common electrode layer 7 to contact the common electrode layer 7; another portion of the transfer electrode 53 may pass through the insulating layer between the functional electrode layer 5 and the common electrode layer 7, the common electrode layer 7, and the insulating layer between the common electrode layer 7 and the conductive layer 6 to contact the common voltage signal line 64. The common voltage signal line 64 is connected to the common electrode layer 7 through the transfer electrode 53.
[0185] Similarly, the common voltage signal transmitted in the common voltage signal line 64 can be transmitted to the transfer electrode 53, and transmitted to the common electrode layer 7 through the transfer electrode 53. The above-mentioned arrangement in the embodiment of the present disclosure can realize the electrical connection between the transfer electrode 53 and the common electrode layer 7 and the common voltage signal line 64 through a single punching process after the insulating layer between the functional electrode layer 5 and the common electrode layer 7 is completed. Compared with the above-mentioned other implementation method, one punching process is reduced, so the manufacturing process of the dimming panel 100 can be simplified. In other examples, as shown in Figure 6, when the common electrode layer 7 is located on the side of the second substrate 2 close to the first liquid crystal layer 4, the common electrode layer 7 is in contact with the frame sealant 3, and the frame sealant 3 has conductive particles.
[0186] Exemplarily, the conductive particles of the frame sealant 3 may include gold balls or the like.
[0187] For example, the transfer electrode 53 can pass through the insulating layer between the functional electrode layer 5 and the conductive layer 6 to contact the common voltage signal line 64. Since the common electrode layer 7 is in contact with the sealant 3, the common voltage signal line 64 can be electrically connected to the common electrode layer 7 through the transfer electrode 53 and the sealant 3 in sequence.
[0188] In some embodiments, in combination with FIG. 10A , FIG. 11 and FIG. 12 , a distance L2 between an orthographic projection of the switching electrode 53 on the first substrate 1 and an orthographic projection of the control electrode 52 on the first substrate 1 is less than or equal to 0.05 mm.
[0189] Illustratively, the distance L2 may be 0.05 mm, 0.04 mm, 0.03 mm, 0.02 mm or 0.01 mm, etc.
[0190] The strength of the electric field generated between the two electrodes is inversely proportional to the distance between them. This arrangement allows the distance between the transfer electrode 53 and the control electrode 52 to be reduced, thereby generating a stronger electric field between the transfer electrode 53 and the control electrode 52. This strengthens the electric field between the control electrode and the common electrode layer, enhances the binding of impurity ions P, and further reduces light leakage in the portion of the display area AA near the peripheral area BB.
[0191] In some embodiments, in combination with Figures 5A, 5B, 6 and 7, in the part where the orthographic projection of the sealing glue 3 on the first substrate 1 overlaps with the orthographic projection of the transfer electrode 53 on the first substrate 1, the orthographic projection of the sealing glue 3 on the first substrate 1 is located within the range of the orthographic projection of the transfer electrode 53 on the first substrate 1.
[0192] As described above, in Figures 6 and 7 , an insulating layer is provided between two adjacent conductive film layers of the dimming panel 100. The insulating layer is typically made of an inorganic material such as silicon nitride or silicon oxide, and the bonding strength between the frame sealant 3 and such inorganic material is relatively weak. This arrangement allows the frame sealant 3 to directly contact the transfer electrode 53, enhancing the bonding strength between the frame sealant 3 and the transfer electrode 53.
[0193] For example, as shown in FIG. 12 , the minimum distance L3 between the edge of the transfer electrode 53 and the edge of the frame sealant 3 may be 0.25 mm.
[0194] The frame sealant 3 is fluid before curing. The above-mentioned setting can reserve an error space between the transfer electrode 53 and the edge of the frame sealant 3, thereby preventing the frame sealant 3 from flowing between the transfer electrode 53 and the control electrode 52 during the process of making the frame sealant 3, thereby avoiding affecting the intensity of the electric field formed between the transfer electrode 53 and the control electrode 52.
[0195] In some examples, as shown in FIG12 , a minimum distance L4 between an orthographic projection of the driving electrode 51 on the first substrate 1 and an orthographic projection of the control electrode 52 on the first substrate 1 is greater than or equal to 0.13 mm.
[0196] Illustratively, the minimum distance L4 between the orthographic projection of the driving electrode 51 on the first substrate 1 and the orthographic projection of the control electrode 52 on the first substrate 1 may be 0.13 mm, 0.14 mm, 0.15 mm, 0.16 mm, or 0.17 mm.
[0197] Through the above-mentioned setting, it can be ensured that there is a sufficient distance between the driving electrode 51 and the control electrode 52, so as to avoid the control signal transmitted in the control electrode 52 from having an adverse effect on the driving signal transmitted in the driving electrode 51, thereby avoiding affecting the electric field formed between the driving electrode 51 and the common electrode layer 7, thereby ensuring the normal deflection effect of the liquid crystal molecules in the part of the first liquid crystal layer 4 corresponding to the driving electrode 51.
[0198] It is understandable that, if the size of the dimming panel 100 allows, the above L4 can be set as large as possible, so as to minimize the impact of the control signal transmitted in the control electrode 7 on the driving signal transmitted in the driving electrode 51.
[0199] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 13A and FIG. 13B , the driving signal line 61 is arranged in a zigzag shape.
[0200] It should be noted that, in order to clearly show the relative positional relationship of the components in the dimming panel 100 , the backlight module 200 and the display panel 300 are not shown in FIG. 13A and FIG. 13B .
[0201] Moiré is a visual phenomenon in which light forms interference patterns when it passes through an object with regularly spaced patterns.
[0202] By arranging the driving signal lines 61 in a zigzag shape, regular intervals between the driving signal lines 61 can be avoided, and moiré patterns generated after light passes through the driving signal lines 61 can be avoided, thereby facilitating the display effect of the display device 1000 .
[0203] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 13A, 13B, and 14 , when the common electrode layer 7 is located between the conductive layer 6 and the functional electrode layer 5, the drive electrode 51 includes a plurality of drive electrode blocks 511 arranged in multiple rows and columns. The drive signal line 61 includes a plurality of sub-drive signal lines 611 extending along the column direction Y and spaced apart in sequence along the row direction X. The common electrode layer 7 has a plurality of through holes K. Referring to Figures 15 and 16 , one drive electrode block 511 is electrically connected to one sub-drive signal line 611 through a corresponding through hole K.
[0204] Illustratively, as shown in FIG14 , an insulating layer is provided between the functional electrode layer 5 and the common electrode layer 7 and between the common electrode layer 7 and the conductive layer 6 , and a driving electrode block 511 can pass through the insulating layer and the common electrode layer 7 to be electrically connected to a sub-driving signal line 611 .
[0205] Exemplarily, the plurality of sub-driving signal lines 611 may transmit the same driving signal or different driving signals.
[0206] By setting up multiple driving electrode blocks 511 and setting up sub-driving signal lines 611 electrically connected to each driving electrode block 511, independent control of each driving electrode block can be achieved, and then the deflection direction of the liquid crystal molecules in the corresponding area of each driving electrode block 511 can be controlled, and then the light passing through each driving electrode block 511 can be controlled, thereby achieving regional control of the light passing through the dimming panel 100.
[0207] In some embodiments, referring to FIG. 13A , FIG. 13B , and FIG. 14 , the conductive layer 6 further includes: a plurality of transmission signal lines 65 located in the display area AA. The plurality of transmission signal lines 65 extend along the column direction Y and are sequentially spaced apart along the row direction X. A column of driving electrode blocks 511 is disposed corresponding to at least one transmission signal line 65 .
[0208] Exemplarily, one column of driving electrode blocks 511 is provided corresponding to one transmission signal line 65 , or one column of driving electrode blocks 511 is provided corresponding to a plurality of transmission signal lines 65 .
[0209] For example, among all the sub-driving signal lines 611, one of the sub-driving signal lines 611 may malfunction due to a manufacturing defect, which may make it difficult for the sub-driving signal line 611 to transmit the driving signal to the corresponding driving electrode block 511. In this case, an alternative transmission signal line 65 can be electrically connected to the sub-driving signal line 611, and the transmission signal line 65 can be used to transmit the driving signal to the driving electrode block 511, so that the corresponding driving electrode block 511 can normally receive the driving signal.
[0210] Through the above configuration, the reliability of the dimming panel 100 can be improved, the defect rate of the dimming panel 100 can be reduced, and thus the production cost of the dimming panel 100 can be reduced.
[0211] In some embodiments, unlike FIG13A , FIG13B further includes a plurality of light-shielding lines 66 located in the display area AA. The plurality of light-shielding lines 66 extend along the row direction X and are sequentially spaced apart along the column direction Y. The orthographic projection of the light-shielding lines 66 on the first substrate 1 is located between the orthographic projections of two adjacent rows of drive electrode blocks 511 on the first substrate 1.
[0212] As can be understood, a gap exists between two adjacent rows of drive electrode blocks 511. When an electric field is formed between the drive electrode blocks 511 and the common electrode layer 7, it is difficult for the electric field to deflect the liquid crystal molecules located in the gap, that is, it is impossible to adjust the light passing through the gap, which may cause light leakage in the display device 1000. The shielding line 66 can block light. By placing the shielding line 66 between two adjacent rows of drive electrode blocks 511, light can be prevented from being directly emitted from the gap between the two rows of drive electrode blocks 511, thereby preventing light leakage in the display device 1000.
[0213] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG13B , along the column direction Y, the size of the orthographic projection of the shielding light 66 on the first substrate 1 is greater than or equal to the size between the orthographic projections of two adjacent rows of driving electrode blocks 511 on the first substrate 1 .
[0214] Through the above arrangement, the shading line 66 can completely cover the gap between two adjacent rows of driving electrode blocks 511, thereby further improving the shielding effect of the shading line 66 on the light emitted from the gap between the two rows of driving electrode blocks 511 and preventing light leakage in the display device 1000.
[0215] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 13B and FIG. 17 , the shielding line 66 is disconnected at the intersection with the sub-driving signal line 611 .
[0216] Through the above arrangement, interference between the sub-driving signal line 611 and the light shielding line 66 can be avoided, thereby preventing the light shielding line 66 from affecting the transmission of the driving signal in the sub-driving signal line 611 .
[0217] It should be noted that the shading light 66 is also disconnected at the intersection with the transmission signal line 65 , which can also avoid interference between the transmission signal line 65 and the shading light 66 .
[0218] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 13A and FIG. 13B , the display device 1000 provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure further includes: a flexible circuit board 500 bound to the target pin 8 in the first binding area B1 of the dimming panel 100 .
[0219] Exemplarily, the flexible circuit board 500 is used to provide various electrical signals to the dimming panel 100 .
[0220] For example, the flexible circuit board 500 is used to provide the first voltage signal transmitted in the above-mentioned first voltage signal pin 81; or, the flexible circuit board 500 is used to provide the second voltage signal transmitted in the above-mentioned second voltage signal pin 82; or, the flexible circuit board 500 is used to provide the clock signal transmitted in the above-mentioned clock signal pin 83.
[0221] Exemplarily, as shown in FIG. 13A and FIG. 13B , the common voltage signal line 64 is electrically connected to the flexible circuit board 500 , so as to transmit the common voltage signal in the flexible circuit board 500 to the common voltage signal line 64 and finally to the common electrode layer.
[0222] Through the above configuration, various electrical signals provided in the flexible circuit board 500 can be transmitted to the dimming panel 100 , so that the dimming panel 100 can operate normally.
[0223] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG13A and FIG13B , in the dimming panel 100, when the driving electrode 51 in the functional electrode layer 5 includes a plurality of driving electrode blocks 511 and the driving signal line 61 includes a plurality of sub-driving signal lines 611, the peripheral area B of the dimming panel 100 further includes a second binding area B2, which is located between the first binding area B1 and the frame sealant 3 of the dimming panel 100. The plurality of sub-driving signal lines 611 extend beyond the range defined by the frame sealant 3 to the second binding area B2.
[0224] As shown in FIG. 13A and FIG. 13B , the display device 1000 further includes a driving chip 600 bound to the second binding area B2 , and the driving chip 600 is electrically connected to a plurality of driving signal lines 61 .
[0225] Exemplarily, the driving chip 600 is used to provide driving signals to a plurality of driving signal lines 61 .
[0226] Through the above setting, the sub-driving signal line 611 can transmit the driving signal provided by the driving chip 600 to the driving electrode block 511 in the display area AA, so that each driving electrode block 511 can individually control the deflection direction of the liquid crystal in the area corresponding to the driving electrode block 511, thereby realizing the regional control of the light passing through the dimming panel 100.
[0227] In some examples, in combination with FIG. 10A , FIG. 18 , and FIG. 19 , the dimming panel 100 further includes a plurality of driving pins 9 , and one sub-driving signal line 611 is electrically connected to one driving pin 9 .
[0228] Exemplarily, the driving pin 9 is also electrically connected to the driving chip 600 .
[0229] In this way, the driving signal provided by the driving chip 600 can be transmitted to the sub-driving signal line 611 through the driving pin 9 .
[0230] Exemplarily, as shown in FIG19 , the driving pins 9 are arranged in two rows, and any two adjacent sub-driving signal lines 611 are electrically connected to the driving pins 9 in different rows.
[0231] There are a large number of driving pins 9, so the size occupied by multiple driving pins 9 in the row direction X is large. By arranging the driving pins 9 into two rows, the size occupied by multiple driving pins 9 in the row direction X can be reduced, which is beneficial to reducing the size of the dimming panel 100 in the row direction X.
[0232] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG20 , the display device 1000 further includes a polarizer 700, which includes a first polarizer 710, a second polarizer 720, and a third polarizer 730. The first polarizer 710 is disposed between the backlight module 200 and the dimming panel 100. The second polarizer 720 is disposed between the dimming panel 100 and the display panel 300. The transmission axis of the second polarizer 720 is parallel to the transmission axis of the first polarizer 710. The third polarizer 730 is disposed on the display panel 300, and the transmission axis of the third polarizer 730 is perpendicular to the transmission axis of the first polarizer 710.
[0233] For example, light emitted by the backlight module 200 becomes first linearly polarized light after passing through the first polarizer 710. After the driver chip 600 inputs different drive signals to the drive electrode block 511, the liquid crystal molecules in the portions of the first liquid crystal layer 4 corresponding to the different drive electrode blocks have different deflection states, thereby adjusting the polarization direction of the first linearly polarized light to varying degrees. Because the transmission axis of the second polarizer 720 is parallel to the transmission axis of the first polarizer 710, after the first linearly polarized light passes through the dimming panel 100 and then the second polarizer 720, the intensity of the light with different polarization directions will change, thereby enabling control of the light intensity of different areas.
[0234] For example, if the polarization direction of a portion of the first linearly polarized light does not change after passing through the dimming panel 100 , the entire portion of the light can pass through the second polarizer 720 , and the intensity of the portion of the light does not change after passing through the second polarizer 720 .
[0235] For another example, a portion of the first linearly polarized light changes its polarization direction after passing through the dimming panel 100, and the angle of the polarization direction change is between 0° and 90°. Then, this portion of light can partially pass through the second polarizer 720, and the light intensity of this portion of light will become weaker after passing through the second polarizer 720.
[0236] For another example, a portion of the first linearly polarized light changes its polarization direction after passing through the dimming panel 100, and the angle of the polarization direction change is 90°. Then, all of this portion of light is blocked by the second polarizer 720, and the light intensity of this portion of light is approximately 0 after passing through the second polarizer 720.
[0237] The light passing through the second polarizer 720 enters the display panel 300 and exits from the third polarizer 730. Since the light in different areas has different intensities when passing through the second polarizer 720, the light passing through the second polarizer 720 can enhance the brightness difference between different display areas in the display device 1000 after passing through the display panel 300 and the third polarizer 730, thereby achieving high-contrast display of the display device 1000.
[0238] In other embodiments, the display mode of the dimming panel 100 of the display device 1000 is twisted nematic. In this case, as shown in Figures 21A and 21B , the liquid crystal molecules in the first liquid crystal layer 4 of the dimming panel 100 are labeled as first liquid crystal molecules 41. When an electric field is formed between the drive electrode 51 and the common electrode layer 7, as shown in Figure 21A , the deflection state of the first liquid crystal molecules 41 is vertical; when no electric field is formed between the drive electrode 51 and the common electrode layer 7, as shown in Figure 21B , the deflection state of the first liquid crystal molecules 41 is horizontal.
[0239] According to the optical properties of the first liquid crystal molecules 41, as shown in Figure 21A, part of the light emitted by the backlight module 200 becomes the first linear polarized light P1 after passing through the first polarizer 710. The first linear polarized light P1 passes through the first liquid crystal molecules 41 of the first liquid crystal layer 4 with different incident directions. According to the polarization properties of the liquid crystal molecules, the polarization direction of the light passing through the first liquid crystal molecules 41 along the optical axis direction of the first liquid crystal molecules 41 does not change, and is still the first linear polarized light P1. Therefore, it can pass through the second polarizer 720 having the same light transmission axis as the first polarizer 710, and finally be emitted to the display panel 300, which is used to provide backlight for the display panel 300. After the above-mentioned light is emitted from the display panel 300, a visible area is formed on the light output side of the display device 1000. However, the polarization direction of the light that does not pass through the first liquid crystal molecules 41 along the optical axis direction of the first liquid crystal molecules 41 will change. That is, the polarization direction of the first linear polarized light P1 with a side viewing angle changes after passing through the first liquid crystal molecules 41, and becomes the second linear polarized light P2. The polarization direction of the second linear polarized light P2 is different from the polarization direction of the first linear polarized light P1. Therefore, it is difficult for the second linear polarized light P2 to pass through the second polarizer 720 with the same transmission axis as the first polarizer 710, and it is impossible to provide backlight for the display panel 300, thereby forming an invisible area on the light-emitting side of the display device 1000. That is, people in the invisible area cannot clearly see the content displayed by the display device 1000, thereby realizing the anti-peeping function of the display device 1000.
[0240] According to the optical properties of the first liquid crystal molecules 41, as shown in Figure 21B, part of the light emitted by the backlight module 200 becomes the first linear polarized light P1 after passing through the first polarizer 710. The first linear polarized light P1 passes through the first liquid crystal molecules 41 of the first liquid crystal layer 4 with different incident directions. According to the optical properties of the liquid crystal molecules, the polarization direction of the first linear polarized light P1 after passing through the first liquid crystal molecules 41 of the first liquid crystal layer 4 is basically unchanged. Therefore, most of the first linear polarized light P1 can pass through the second polarizer 720 having the same absorption axis direction as the first polarizer 710, and finally be emitted to the display panel 300, so as to provide backlight for the display panel 300. In this way, the light-emitting side of the display device 1000 is a visible area, thereby realizing shared display of the display device 1000.
[0241] Through the above configuration, the display device 1000 can have a shared display function and an anti-peeping function.
[0242] Furthermore, when the display device 1000 has both a shared display function and a privacy protection function, unlike the driver chip 600 providing a drive signal to the drive signal line 61 in Figures 13A and 13B , in Figure 22 , the flexible circuit board 500 provides the drive signal to the drive signal line 61. When the drive signal line 61 includes multiple sub-drive signal lines 611, the flexible circuit board 500 provides the same drive signal to each of the sub-drive signal lines 611. This ensures that the electric field formed between the common electrode layer 7 and the drive electrode 51 of the dimming panel 100 is uniform everywhere, resulting in the same deflection direction for all first liquid crystal molecules 41 in the first liquid crystal layer 4. This uniformly adjusts the polarization direction of light passing through the first liquid crystal layer 4, thereby enabling the display device 1000 to achieve both a shared display function and a privacy protection function across the entire display area. In this case, the connection between the drive signal line 61 and the drive electrode 51 in the dimming panel 100 can be seen in Figure 23 , and the connection between the transfer electrode 53 and the common voltage signal line 64 in the dimming panel 100 can be seen in Figure 24 .
[0243] In yet other embodiments, the display mode of the first liquid crystal layer 4 in the dimming panel 100 of the display device 1000 is an advanced super-dimensional field switching mode. As shown in FIG25 , the display device 1000 further includes a privacy film 800 and a polarizer 700. The polarizer 700 includes a fourth polarizer 740 and a fifth polarizer 750. The privacy film 800 is disposed between the backlight module 200 and the dimming panel 100. The fourth polarizer 740 is disposed between the dimming panel 100 and the display panel 300. The fifth polarizer 750 is disposed on the display panel 300.
[0244] For example, the transmission axes of the fourth polarizer 740 and the fifth polarizer 750 may be in the same direction, or the transmission axes of the fourth polarizer 740 and the fifth polarizer 750 may be perpendicular to each other.
[0245] Illustratively, the privacy film 800 is used to narrow the emission range of the light emitted by the backlight module 200 , that is, the light emitted by the backlight module 200 becomes collimated light after passing through the privacy film 800 .
[0246] For example, when no electric field is generated between the common electrode layer 7 and the driving electrode 51 of the dimming panel 100, the liquid crystal molecules 41 of the first liquid crystal layer 4 are not deflected, and the emission range of the above-mentioned collimated light remains unchanged after passing through the dimming panel 100, and a visible range can only be formed in a partial area of the light-emitting side of the display device 1000, thereby realizing the anti-peeping function of the display device 1000.
[0247] For example, when an electric field is generated between the common electrode layer 7 and the driving electrode 51 of the dimming panel 100, the liquid crystal molecules 41 of the first liquid crystal layer 4 are deflected, and the emission range of the above-mentioned collimated light becomes larger after passing through the dimming panel 100, and a visible range can be formed in the entire area of the light-emitting side of the display device 1000, thereby realizing the shared display function of the display device 1000.
[0248] Through the above configuration, the display device 1000 can have an anti-peeping function and a shared display function.

Any changes or substitutions that a person skilled in the art can conceive within the technical scope disclosed in the present disclosure should be included within the scope of protection of the present disclosure.
