Description

[0001] SENSOR ASSEMBLY FOR HORSE RIDERS

[0002] Field of invention

[0003] The present invention relates to a monitoring system for horse riders. More particularly, the invention relates to a sensor assembly or sensor system for detecting force / pressure and the resulting force / pressure distribution applied by a rider riding a horse.

[0004] Prior art

[0005] Monitoring systems for horse riders are used to provide information that can be used to improve the posture and position of the rider. A correct posture and position of the rider is important in order to prevent compensational movements, pain, and injury and to optimise performance during equestrian sports such as horse races and dressage.

[0006] Real time data processing and visualisation makes it possible for the rider to change their possibly wrongful position, posture, and impact immediately which can give better muscular and neurological development. Logged data can be processed, analysed, and rewatched to give an overview of the rider's performance, whereby challenges and progress can be tracked. This can be used for further analysis and guidance to improve the rider's performance.

[0007] It is known to arrange one or more sensors below a horse saddle. When this solution is used, however, there is a risk that the sensors move during use. Accordingly, the measurements are not reliable.

[0008] Thus, there is a need for an apparatus and system which reduces or even eliminates the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior art.

[0009] Summary of the invention

[0010] An idea of the present invention is to depart from the prior art solution of measuring under the saddle. In such prior art solutions, the direct impact of the rider will not be measured but instead give the distribution of the force or pressure from the saddle together with the rider. Such measurements can lead to wrongful positioning of the rider due to a wrongfully positioned or broken saddle. The object of the present invention can be achieved by a sensor assembly as defined in claim 1. Preferred embodiments are defined in the dependent subclaims, explained in the following description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

[0011] According to one aspect, a sensor assembly is provided. The sensor assembly is a sensor assembly for detecting: force and thus the force distribution or pressure and thus the pressure distribution applied by a rider riding a horse towards the horse and elements placed thereon, wherein the sensor assembly comprises a plurality of sensors integrated in a structure, wherein the sensor assembly is configured to be: a) placed and used on a horse saddle and be attached to said horse saddle by using one or more attachment structures of the structure in such a manner that the sensor assembly is maintained in a fixed position relative to the horse saddle when the sensor assembly is placed on and attached to the horse saddle by using the one or more attachment structures or b) integrated in a pair of horse riding trousers.

[0012] According to one aspect, a sensor system is provided. The sensor system comprises a support structure accommodating a plurality of sensors, wherein each sensor is configured to detect the force and / or pressure applied by a rider when riding a horse, wherein the sensor system further comprises one or more attachment structures connected to the support structure and configured to attach the sensor system to an associated saddle. The support structure may also just be called structure.

[0013] According to one aspect, a sensor system is provided. The sensor system comprises a support structure accommodating a plurality of sensors, wherein each sensor is configured to detect the force and / or pressure applied by a rider when riding a horse, wherein the sensor system is configured to be integrated in a pair of horse riding trousers.

[0014] Hereby, the sensor assembly can be maintained in a fixed position relative to the horse saddle in an easy and reliable manner. Further, the skills of the rider can be improved, furthermore enabling adjustment of the effort aimed at both the rider and the horse to improve their physics and skills. Accordingly, reliable measurements can be provided. Thus, it is possible to reduce or even eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior art. The horse saddle may also be called saddle for short.

[0015] The sensor assembly according to the invention is a sensor assembly for detecting force or pressure and thus the force distribution or the pressure distribution applied by a rider riding the horse towards the horse and elements placed thereon. The force will be applied toward the horse saddle. The force will typically also be provided toward a stirrup that is detachably attached to the horse saddle. The effect of measuring on the force / pressure applied and / or distributed by the rider to / on the saddle and / or the horse makes it possible track the impact and thereby correct it for better performance.

[0016] In the following, preferred examples will be mentioned which are applicable to all aspects described above.

[0017] The plurality of sensors are preferably arranged symmetrically relative a centreline of the saddle, or symmetrically relative the longitudinal centreline of the body of the rider.
