Abstract
Description
Method and system for determining lightning current value, storage medium and electronic device
[0001] This disclosure claims priority to the Chinese patent application filed with the China Patent Office on June 29, 2023, with application number 202310794763.7 and invention name “Method and system for determining lightning current value, storage medium and electronic device”, the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference into this disclosure. Technical Field
[0002] The embodiments of the present disclosure relate to the field of communications, and in particular, to a method and system for determining a lightning current value, a storage medium, and an electronic device. Background Art
[0003] Lightning is a natural phenomenon with great destructive power. When lightning strikes and discharges, it can generate an impulse voltage of tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of volts, which is enough to burn electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, circuit breakers, etc. in the power system, or break through the insulation of power transmission lines and cause short circuits, leading to fires and explosions of flammable, inflammable, and explosive items.
[0004] Currently, when optical signals are transmitted in optical fiber composite overhead ground wires (OPGWs), polarizers and analyzers can be used to detect changes in the optical signal's polarization state to determine the lightning current (a lightning strike generates a lightning current in the OPGW's peripheral cables). Alternatively, changes in the optical signal's polarization mode dispersion (PMD) can be used to identify the lightning strike location. However, none of these methods can accurately determine the lightning current, making it difficult for operations and maintenance personnel to accurately assess the severity of the lightning strike and determine whether to initiate repairs quickly.
[0005] With regard to the problem in the related art that the current value of the lightning strike current generated on the OPGW peripheral cable cannot be accurately determined, no effective solution has been proposed so far.

[0026] In this embodiment, a method for determining a lightning current value is provided, including but not limited to being applied in a lightning current value determination system. FIG2 is a flow chart of a method for determining a lightning current value according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG2 , the flow chart includes the following steps S202-S208:
[0027] Step S202: Generate a first detection optical signal through a first optical signal transmitting end, and transmit the first detection optical signal to an optical fiber composite overhead ground wire (OPGW), wherein the first detection optical signal is a modulated optical signal having two mutually perpendicular polarization components;
[0028] It's important to note that an OPGW is a fiber optic unit embedded in the ground wire of a power transmission line. It has two functions: first, it acts as a lightning protection wire for the transmission line, providing shielding and protection against lightning strikes and discharges; second, the optical fiber integrated into the ground wire acts as the medium for transmitting optical signals.
[0029] Step S204: acquiring a target optical signal from the OPGW through the first optical signal receiving end, wherein the target optical signal is the first detection optical signal or the scattered signal after being transmitted through the OPGW, and the scattered signal is a signal reflected back by the first detection optical signal during the transmission process of the OPGW;
[0030] It should be noted that a lightning strike will generate a lightning current on the OPGW's peripheral cables, thereby generating a magnetic field in the same direction as the light. According to the Faraday effect, the magnetic field causes the polarization states of the X and Y polarization components of the optical signal transmitted in the optical fiber to rotate rapidly, causing the optical field of the OPGW's inner optical fiber to change.
[0031] As an optional example, when the target optical signal is the first probe optical signal after transmission from the OPGW, the first optical signal transmitting end and the first optical signal receiving end are located at opposite ends of the OPGW. That is, as shown in FIG3 , the first optical signal transmitting end is the probe optical transmitting end in direction A, and the first optical signal receiving end is the probe optical receiving end in direction A (not shown in FIG3 ). When the target optical signal is a scattered signal, the first optical signal transmitting end and the first optical signal receiving end are located at the same end of the OPGW, as shown in FIG7 , the first optical signal transmitting end is the probe optical transmitting end in FIG7 , and the first optical signal receiving end is the probe optical receiving end in FIG7 .
[0032] Step S206, demodulating the target optical signal through the first optical signal receiving end to determine the polarization rotation RSOP speed of the first detection optical signal during the transmission process of the OPGW;
[0033] As an optional example, the rotation of state of polarization (RSOP) speed is the RSOP speed of the first polarization state or the second polarization state, or the average RSOP speed of the first polarization state and the second polarization state, and the polarization direction of the first polarization state is perpendicular to the polarization direction of the second polarization state.
[0034] Step S208 : determining a lightning current value according to the RSOP speed, wherein the lightning current value is a current value of a lightning current generated on the OPGW peripheral cable when a lightning strike occurs.
[0035] The above steps determine the lightning strike current value based on the RSOP speed, and then accurately determine the current value of the lightning strike current generated by the lightning strike on the OPGW peripheral cable. This solves the problem in the related art that the current value of the lightning strike current generated by the lightning strike on the OPGW peripheral cable cannot be accurately determined, and achieves the technical effect that operation and maintenance personnel can accurately judge the lightning strike hazard to determine whether to quickly repair it.
[0036] In an exemplary embodiment, generating a first detection optical signal by a first optical signal transmitting end includes the following steps S11-S13:
[0037] Step S11: using a narrowband laser to emit a probe light, and using a first polarization beam splitter to split the probe light into a first polarization light in a first polarization direction and a second polarization light in a second polarization direction, wherein the first polarization direction and the second polarization direction are perpendicular;
[0038] Step S12: combining the first polarized light and the second polarized light through a first optical fiber coupler to obtain a combined light source;
[0039] As an optional example, the first fiber coupler is an X-coupler. By using the X-coupler, optical signals with X (first polarization direction) and Y (second polarization direction) polarization components are combined so that they share the same output channel. In this case, the X-coupler combines the X and Y polarization components into a composite output signal that contains information about both X and Y polarization components.
[0040] It should be noted that the advantage of combining the first polarized light and the second polarized light before modulation is that one modulator can be omitted. Otherwise, modulation signals need to be loaded separately to modulate the first polarized light and the second polarized light respectively.
[0041] Step S13: Using an optical modulator, the adjustment signal is used to modulate the combined light source to obtain the first detection light signal, wherein the narrowband laser, the first polarization beam splitter, the first fiber coupler, and the optical modulator are located in the first optical signal transmitting end.
[0042] It should be noted that an optical modulator is a device configured to control an optical signal by changing certain characteristics of the optical signal, such as intensity, phase, or frequency. Optical modulators are commonly used in fields such as optical communications, optical sensing, and optical signal processing. The output of an optical modulator depends on the modulation technology used. Common optical modulator outputs can take one of the following forms:
[0043] 1. Intensity Modulation: An optical modulator modulates an optical signal by varying its intensity. The output can be an intensity-modulated optical signal, where the intensity of the light varies over time.
[0044] 2. Phase Modulation: An optical modulator modulates an optical signal by changing its phase. The output can be a phase-modulated optical signal, where the phase of the light varies over time.
[0045] 3. Frequency Modulation: An optical modulator modulates an optical signal by changing its frequency. The output can be a frequency-modulated optical signal, where the frequency of the light varies over time.
[0046] To better understand steps S11-S13, the following detailed description is provided in conjunction with Figure 3. As shown in Figure 3, a narrowband laser serves as the probe light source, with axis A represented by λa. A polarization beam splitter (PBS) splits the light generated by the narrowband laser into two mutually perpendicular X and Y polarization components. An X coupler combines the X and Y polarization components. A modulator applies the modulated signal of the probe light to the combined X and Y polarization components of the light source, which is then transmitted to the optical fiber.
[0047] It should be noted that if you want to detect the same fiber in directions A and B, you can use different wavelengths for the narrowband lasers in directions A and B, and use a combiner / splitter to combine the transmit signal in direction A and the receive signal in direction B. Similarly, at the other end, combine the receive signal in direction A and the transmit signal in direction B.
[0048] In an exemplary embodiment, transmitting the first detection optical signal to the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire OPGW includes: transmitting the first detection optical signal to the OPGW through a circulator; obtaining the target optical signal from the OPGW through the first optical signal receiving end includes: obtaining the scattered signal from the circulator through the first optical signal receiving end, wherein the first optical signal receiving end and the first optical signal transmitting end are located at the same end of the OPGW.
[0049] That is, if the first probe light signal is transmitted to the OPGW through a circulator, the first optical signal receiving end can obtain the scattered signal from the circulator. Optionally, as shown in Figure 7, the first optical signal transmitting end can send the first probe light signal to circulator port 1, and the circulator then transmits the first probe light signal to the OPGW through circulator port 2. When the probe light signal is transmitted along the optical fiber, due to Rayleigh scattering, Fresnel reflection, etc., a probe light backscattered signal in the opposite direction of the probe light signal transmission is generated. This backscattered signal passes through circulator port 2 and returns to the probe light receiving end via circulator port 3. The first optical signal receiving end can then obtain the scattered signal from the circulator.
[0050] In an exemplary embodiment, transmitting the first detection optical signal to the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire OPGW includes: transmitting the first detection optical signal to the OPGW through a first combiner / demultiplexer; obtaining the target optical signal from the OPGW through a first optical signal receiving end includes: obtaining the first detection optical signal after transmission through the OPGW from a second combiner / demultiplexer through the first optical signal receiving end, wherein the first combiner / demultiplexer and the second combiner / demultiplexer are located at both ends of the OPGW.
[0051] That is, if the first optical signal transmitting end transmits the first detection optical signal to the OPGW through the first multiplexer / demultiplexer, the first optical signal receiving end can obtain the first detection optical signal transmitted through the OPGW from the second multiplexer / demultiplexer.
[0052] In an exemplary embodiment, the first optical signal receiving end demodulates the target optical signal to determine the polarization rotation RSOP speed of the first detection optical signal during the transmission process of the OPGW, including the following steps S21-S23:
[0053] Step S21: performing polarization state separation on the target optical signal through a second polarization beam splitter to obtain a first optical signal in a first polarization direction and a second optical signal in a second polarization direction, wherein the first polarization direction is perpendicular to the second polarization direction;
[0054] Step S22: splitting the local oscillation light emitted by the local oscillator laser into a first local oscillation light in the first polarization direction and a second local oscillation light in the second polarization direction through a third polarization beam splitter, wherein the target optical signal has the same wavelength as the local oscillation light;
[0055] It should be noted that there is no specific order in which step S21 and step S22 are performed, that is, step S21 may be performed first, or step S22 may be performed first.
[0056] As an optional example, the first polarization beam splitter, the second polarization beam splitter, and the third polarization beam splitter may be polarization beam splitters of the same type.
[0057] Step S23: determining the RSOP speed according to the first optical signal, the second optical signal, the first local oscillator light, and the second local oscillator light, wherein the second polarization beam splitter and the third polarization beam splitter are located at the first optical signal receiving end.
[0058] In an exemplary embodiment, the above step S23 can be implemented by the following steps S31-S33:
[0059] Step S31: combining the first optical signal and the first local oscillator light through a second optical fiber coupler, and performing photoelectric conversion on the combined optical signal through a first balanced receiver to obtain a first electrical signal;
[0060] Step S32: combining the second optical signal and the second local oscillator light through a third optical fiber coupler, and performing photoelectric conversion on the combined optical signal through a second balanced receiver to obtain a second electrical signal;
[0061] As an optional example, the second fiber coupler and the third fiber coupler are an X-coupler, that is, the first fiber coupler, the second fiber coupler, and the third fiber coupler can be the same fiber coupler.
[0062] It should be noted that there is no specific order in which step S31 and step S32 are performed, that is, step S31 may be performed first, or step S32 may be performed first.
[0063] Step S33: determining the RSOP speed according to the first electrical signal and the second electrical signal, wherein the second optical fiber coupler and the third optical fiber coupler are located at the first optical signal receiving end.
[0064] In an exemplary embodiment, the above step S33 can be implemented by the following steps S41-S43:
[0065] Step S41: converting the first electrical signal into a first digital signal through a first analog-to-digital converter;
[0066] Step S42: converting the second electrical signal into a second digital signal through a second analog-to-digital converter;
[0067] It should be noted that there is no specific order in which step S41 and step S42 are performed, that is, step S41 may be performed first or step S42 may be performed first.
[0068] Step S43: using an adaptive equalization algorithm to determine the RSOP speed according to the first digital signal and the second digital signal.
[0069] For a better understanding, the following detailed description is provided. As shown in Figure 3, the optical signal receiving end first performs polarization state separation on the detection signal light transmitted through the OPGW through a PBS. The light is then split into two beams with mutually perpendicular polarization directions by a local oscillator laser of the same wavelength through another PBS. One beam of local oscillator light polarized in the X direction and the polarized signal light in the X direction are combined into a balanced receiver through an X-coupler. Another beam of local oscillator light polarized in the Y direction and the polarized signal light in the Y direction are combined into another balanced receiver through another X-coupler. The two balanced receivers then perform photoelectric conversion on the mixed optical signals and transmit them to analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) for analog-to-digital conversion of the electrical signals. The data is then demodulated using an adaptive equalization algorithm to obtain the RSOP speeds of the X and Y polarization states of the detection light modulation signal.
[0070] In an exemplary embodiment, the above step S208 can be implemented by: obtaining a mapping table, wherein the mapping table contains different lightning current values corresponding to different RSOP speeds; using the mapping table to determine the lightning current value corresponding to the RSOP speed of the first detection light signal during the transmission process of the OPGW.
[0071] It should be noted that the RSOP speed is proportional to the lightning current value. As an optional example, the corresponding relationship between the RSOP speed and the lightning current value is shown in FIG4 .
[0072] It should be noted that after determining the lightning strike current value according to the RSOP speed, the location where the lightning strike occurs may also be determined. In an exemplary embodiment, the location where the lightning strike occurs may be determined by following steps S51-S52:
[0073] Step S51: When the RSOP speed satisfies a preset condition and the first detection optical signal is transmitted to the OPGW through a circulator, determining a first receiving time at which the first optical signal receiving end receives the scattered signal, wherein the first optical signal transmitting end and the first optical signal receiving end are located at the same end of the OPGW;
[0074] It should be noted that the preset condition includes: the RSOP speed is the maximum among all RSOP speeds determined within a preset detection time.
[0075] Step S52: determining a lightning strike location where the lightning strike event occurs according to the emission time of the first detection light signal emitted by the first light signal transmitting end and the first receiving time.
[0076] In an exemplary embodiment, the above-mentioned step S52 can be implemented in the following manner: subtract the transmission time from the first reception time to obtain a first time difference; determine the first distance based on the lightning strike delay time and the transmission speed of the optical signal in the optical fiber, wherein the lightning strike delay time is half of the first time difference; determine the lightning strike position based on the position of the first optical signal transmitting end and the first distance.
[0077] It should be noted that since the transmission time of the first detection light signal in the OPGW is the same as the transmission time of the scattered signal corresponding to the first detection light signal in the OPGW, if the transmission time is t1 and the first reception time is t2, the actual time of the lightning strike is t1 + (t2 - t1) / 2. Since the transmission speed of the optical signal in the optical fiber is known, the first distance between the location of the lightning strike and the first optical signal transmitting end can be determined, and the lightning strike location can be determined based on the first distance and the location of the first optical signal transmitting end. It should be noted that in this case, the first optical signal transmitting end and the first optical signal receiving end are located at the same location.
[0078] In an exemplary embodiment, the method for determining the lightning current value further includes the following steps S61-S62:
[0079] Step S61: generating a second detection optical signal through a second optical signal transmitting end, and transmitting the second detection optical signal to an optical fiber composite overhead ground wire (OPGW), wherein the second detection optical signal is a modulated optical signal having two mutually perpendicular polarization components;
[0080] Step S62: obtaining a third detection optical signal from the OPGW through the second optical signal receiving end, wherein the third detection optical signal is the second detection optical signal after being transmitted through the OPGW;
[0081] Demodulating the third detection optical signal by the second optical signal receiving end, and determining the polarization rotation RSOP speed of the second detection optical signal during the transmission process of the OPGW;
[0082] The wavelengths of the first detection optical signal and the second detection optical signal are different, the first optical signal transmitting end and the first optical signal receiving end are located at both ends of the OPGW, the second optical signal transmitting end and the second optical signal receiving end are located at both ends of the OPGW, and the first optical signal transmitting end and the second optical signal transmitting end are located at both ends of the OPGW.
[0083] For better understanding, as shown in Figure 6, the first optical signal transmitting end and the first optical signal receiving end can be the signal transmitting end and signal receiving end in direction A, and the second optical signal transmitting end and the second optical signal receiving end can be the signal transmitting end and signal receiving end in direction B, wherein direction A and direction B are two opposite directions.
[0084] In an exemplary embodiment, the location where the lightning strike occurs may be determined by following the steps S71-S72:
[0085] Step S71: When the RSOP speed of the first detection optical signal during transmission by the OPGW and the RSOP speed of the second detection optical signal during transmission by the OPGW both meet preset conditions, determining a first receiving time when the first optical signal receiving end receives the target optical signal and determining a second receiving time when the second optical signal receiving end receives the third detection optical signal;
[0086] Step S72: determining the lightning strike location where the lightning strike event occurs according to the first receiving time and the second receiving time.
[0087] In an exemplary embodiment, the above-mentioned step S72 can be implemented in the following manner: when the first receiving moment is equal to the second receiving moment, the lightning strike position is located in the middle position of the OPGW; when the first receiving moment is not equal to the second receiving moment, the second time difference between the first receiving moment and the second receiving moment is determined; the second distance is determined based on the second time difference and the transmission speed of the optical signal in the optical fiber; the lightning strike position is determined based on the length of the OPGW, the second distance and the endpoint position of the OPGW.
[0088] It should be noted that if the first receiving moment is equal to the second receiving moment, it means that after the lightning strike occurs, the time for the detection light signal in direction A and the detection light signal in direction B to be transmitted in the OPGW is the same, and since the transmission speed of the optical signal in the optical fiber is fixed, it is further indicated that the lightning strike location is located in the middle of the OPGW. If the first receiving moment is not equal to the second receiving moment, the difference in the transmission distance of the detection light signal in direction A and the detection light signal in direction B in the OPGW after the lightning strike occurs can be determined based on the second time difference between the first receiving moment and the second receiving moment. Since the length of the OPGW is fixed, the transmission distance of the detection light signal in direction A and the detection light signal in direction B in the OPGW after the lightning strike occurs can be determined separately, and then the lightning strike location can be determined in combination with the endpoint position of the OPGW. It should be noted that the endpoint position of the OPGW includes one of the following: the position of the first optical signal transmitting end, the position of the second optical signal transmitting end, the position of the first optical signal receiving end, and the position of the second optical signal receiving end. The position of the first optical signal transmitting end is the same as the position of the second optical signal receiving end, and the position of the second optical signal transmitting end is the same as the position of the first optical signal receiving end.
[0089] Obviously, the embodiments described above are only part of the embodiments of the present disclosure, not all of the embodiments. In order to better understand the above method, the above process is described below in conjunction with the embodiments, but it is not intended to limit the technical solutions of the embodiments of the present disclosure:
[0090] In an exemplary embodiment, since a lightning strike will generate a lightning current on the OPGW peripheral cable, thereby generating a magnetic field in the same direction as the light, according to the Faraday effect, the magnetic field will cause the OPGW inner fiber light field to change, and the polarization state of the X and Y polarization components of the optical signal transmitted in the optical fiber will rotate rapidly. Then, with the help of this principle and the known lightning current intensity is proportional to the ROSP change, the modulated detection light with time information can be modulated in two polarization directions by emitting a modulated detection light for the OPGW optical fiber, and the polarization state rotation speed of the detection light during the light transmission process can be demodulated by the receiving end using an adaptive equalization algorithm. Then, the lightning current intensity and position when the lightning strike occurs can be detected by detecting the polarization state rotation speed and RSOP peak position of the detection signal. That is, the embodiment of the present application can locate the lightning strike location and lightning strike intensity by demodulating the polarization state rotation information (RSOP) in the adaptive recovery process of the detection signal modulation signal. Compared to methods that use polarizers and analyzers to detect changes in the polarization state of an optical signal, this method is simple to implement, provides a larger amount of information, and offers more accurate identification. Compared to methods that use PMD changes to determine lightning strike location, this method can assess the intensity of the lightning strike current, making it easier for operators to determine the severity of the strike and decide whether to repair it quickly. Furthermore, compared to the PMD method, the RSOP method focuses more on the speed of polarization rotation rather than its amplitude, making it less susceptible to interference from other factors and resulting in more accurate results. For a better understanding, the following description is provided with reference to specific examples.
[0091] Example 1
[0092] In an exemplary embodiment, the specific principle is shown in FIG3 , and optionally:
[0093] Probe signal optical transmitter: A narrowband laser is used as the probe light source. The PBS splits the light generated by the narrowband laser into two mutually perpendicular X and Y polarization components. An X coupler combines the X and Y polarization components. An optical modulator is used to load the modulated signal of the probe light onto the combined X and Y polarization components. Combining the X and Y polarization components before the modulator eliminates the need for a modulator. Otherwise, the modulated signal would need to be loaded separately and modulated by separate modulators. The probe light transmitter transmits the modulated optical signal into the optical fiber. If co-fiber detection is desired for both directions A and B, different wavelengths can be used for the narrowband lasers in directions A and B. A combiner is used to combine the transmit signal in direction A and the receive signal in direction B. Similarly, the receive signal in direction A is combined with the transmit signal in direction B at the other end.
[0094] Detection optical receiver: The detection signal light transmitted through the line is first polarized by a PBS. It is then split into two beams with mutually perpendicular polarization directions by a local oscillator laser of the same wavelength through another PBS. The local oscillator light with X polarization and the signal light with X polarization are combined through an X coupler to a balanced receiver. The local oscillator light with Y polarization and the signal light with Y polarization are combined through another X coupler to another balanced receiver.
[0095] Two balanced receivers perform optical-to-electrical conversion on the mixed optical signal and transmit it to the ADC for analog-to-digital conversion. Adaptive equalization algorithms are applied to this data to demodulate the changes in the X and Y polarization states of the modulated detection light signal. This information primarily includes changes in the X polarization state, changes in the Y polarization state, and the relative polarization changes between X and Y.
[0096] This change information is transmitted to the network manager (NM) via the web or OSC. The NM obtains the RSOP change and converts it into lightning current intensity. The location of the lightning strike is calculated based on the time delay. If the OPGW is struck by lightning, the location and current intensity of the lightning strike can be calculated.
[0097] Figure 4 shows a comparison between the lightning current and the RSOP rotation speed on the X and Y polarizations. Using this conversion relationship, by performing an adaptive recovery algorithm to demodulate the polarization rotation of the modulated signal loaded on the two polarization X and Y components of the detection light, it can be detected that the RSOP rotation speed reaches 20Mrad / s, corresponding to a lightning current of more than 350KA.
[0098] Figure 5 illustrates the polarization state rotation of the X and Y polarization components of the probe light when it is transmitted in the optical fiber, as well as the relative delay of the X and Y polarization components, namely the PMD situation. The present application can also calculate the PMD change of the probe light by performing an adaptive recovery algorithm on the modulated signals loaded on the two polarization X and Y components of the probe light. This data can also assist in confirming the location information of the lightning strike detected by RSOP.
[0099] FIG6 illustrates the system architecture for determining the intensity and location of a lightning strike based on the RSOP velocity of the detection light. The figure shows a block diagram of the transmitter and receiver, where the detection light in directions A and B has different wavelengths.
[0100] The X polarization state change, Y polarization state change, and relative polarization change information obtained by the receiving end in directions A and B are transmitted to the network management via the WEB network or OSC. The RSOP change can be obtained on the network management and converted into lightning current intensity. The location of the lightning strike can be calculated through time delay.
[0101] Example 2
[0102] In an exemplary embodiment, the specific principle is shown in FIG7 , and optionally:
[0103] Probe light transmitter: A narrowband laser is used as the probe light source. The PBS splits the light generated by the narrowband laser into two mutually perpendicular X and Y polarization components. The X coupler combines the X and Y polarization components. The modulator applies the modulated signal of the probe light to the combined X and Y polarization components of the light source. The advantage of combining the X and Y polarization components before the modulator is that it eliminates the need for a modulator. Otherwise, the modulated signal needs to be applied separately and modulated by its own modulator. The probe light transmitter transmits the modulated signal to circulator port 1 and transmits it to the line through circulator port 2.
[0104] When the detection signal is transmitted along the optical fiber, due to Rayleigh scattering, Fresnel reflection, etc., a detection light backscattered signal is generated in the opposite direction of the detection light transmission direction, passes through the circulator 2 port, and returns to the detection light receiving part through the circulator 3 port for processing.
[0105] Detection light receiver: The detection signal light transmitted through the line is first polarized and separated by a PBS. The transmitting laser signal is split into one beam through an X-coupler as the receiving part. The local oscillator light is split into two beams with mutually perpendicular polarization directions by another PBS. One beam of local oscillator light with polarization in the X direction and the polarized signal light in the X direction are combined by an X-coupler to a balanced receiver. The other beam of local oscillator light with polarization in the Y direction and the polarized signal light in the Y direction are combined by another X-coupler to another balanced receiver.
[0106] The two balanced receivers perform photoelectric conversion on the mixed optical signal and transmit it to the ADC to convert the electrical signal into digital form. An adaptive equalization algorithm is applied to this data to demodulate the changes in the X and Y polarization states of the detection light modulation signal. The specific solution is the same as that of Example 1.
[0107] The location of a lightning strike can also be detected by RSOP rotation, as shown in Figure 8. Because the probe light emission time is known, t0, the RSOP peak time obtained from the backscattered signal is ta. Since the probe light travels once round-trip through the same optical fiber, (ta - t0) / 2 is the time delay from RSOP peak detection to lightning strike detection. Based on the G.652 fiber delay of 5µs / km, the lightning strike location La can be inferred. This can be displayed on the network management system as shown in Figure 8.
[0108] It should be noted that this application proposes a method based on the principle that a lightning strike will cause a rapid rotation of the polarization state of the detection signal in the optical fiber (OPGW), and the rotation speed is proportional to the intensity of the lightning current. A corresponding transmitter and receiver are designed to obtain the intensity and position of the lightning strike by transmitting the detection signal in the optical fiber.
[0109] This application is applicable to the power industry, national and provincial trunk scenarios, supporting WDM / OTN systems and supporting lightning detection functions to analyze the damage level and location of lines after lightning strikes, improving intelligent operation and maintenance capabilities.
