[0031] To help those skilled in the art better understand the technical solutions of the embodiments of the present disclosure, the technical solutions of the present disclosure will be clearly and completely described below in conjunction with the drawings in the present disclosure. Obviously, the embodiments described are only some of the embodiments of the present disclosure, not all of them. Based on the embodiments of the present disclosure, all other embodiments obtained by those of ordinary skill in the art without making any creative efforts shall fall within the scope of protection of the present disclosure.
[0032] It should be noted that in this disclosure, words such as "exemplarily" or "for example" are used to indicate examples, illustrations, or descriptions. Any embodiment or design described in this disclosure as "exemplary" or "for example" should not be construed as being preferred or advantageous over other embodiments or designs. Rather, the use of words such as "exemplarily" or "for example" is intended to present the relevant concepts in a concrete manner.
[0033] In the following, the terms "first," "second," etc., are used for descriptive purposes only and should not be construed as indicating or implying relative importance or implicitly specifying the quantity of the technical features being referred to. Therefore, a feature defined with the terms "first," "second," etc., may explicitly or implicitly include one or more of such features.
[0034] In the description of this disclosure, unless otherwise specified, " / " means "or." For example, A / B can mean A or B. "And / or" herein is merely a description of an association relationship between associated objects, indicating that three possible relationships exist. For example, "A and / or B" can mean: only A, only B, and both A and B. Furthermore, "at least one" means one or more, and "a plurality" means two or more.
[0035] With the explosive growth of IoT devices, mobile communication systems are entering an era of the Internet of Everything. Future B5G and 6G networks will need to implement massive access capabilities to meet rapidly growing market demands for intelligent services such as virtual reality, autonomous driving, and smart homes. This rapid increase in access devices presents significant challenges for next-generation mobile communication technologies, including the need for high-speed transmission, ultra-large bandwidth, highly reliable and low-latency transmission, and low-cost and power-efficient designs.
[0036] While improving system performance, RIS technology also has the advantages of low cost, low power consumption and low complexity. Therefore, RIS technology is considered to be one of the key technologies of B5G and 6G communication systems.
[0037] RIS improves communication system performance primarily by loading a RIS codebook onto the RIS, thereby modifying the electromagnetic characteristics of the RIS array on the RIS panel, achieving signal amplitude and phase control, and ultimately forming an effective beam directed toward the target area. Different target locations require switching RIS codebooks to achieve the corresponding beamforming. The collection of RIS codebooks corresponding to different locations is called the RIS codebook library. Different codebook libraries also determine the coverage range and resource overhead of the RIS system. For example, if the coverage area corresponding to a codebook library is smaller than the target area, system performance will be compromised; if the coverage area corresponding to a codebook library is larger than the target area, resources will be wasted. In practical applications, different communication scenarios require different coverage areas, so different codebook libraries must be loaded for each scenario. However, determining the optimal codebook library for the current coverage area is a challenging research topic.
[0038] Currently, the main research directions in academia and industry for RIS include RIS beam design, system capacity analysis, power or spectrum optimization, system channel estimation, system reliability analysis, secure communications, and location deployment. Regarding the design and selection of RIS codebooks, some technologies focus on point-to-point design, that is, the design of a single RIS codebook. However, this does not allow for the flexible generation of a codebook library covering a specific area based on the application scenario.
[0039] To address the above technical issues, the present disclosure provides a method for determining a codebook library. The method is as follows: obtaining measurement information of a test terminal within a target area; and determining a target codebook library corresponding to the target area based on the measurement information and the initial codebook library. It can be seen that the method provided by the present disclosure can generate an optimal codebook library covering a specified area (e.g., the target area) based on the application scenario. Furthermore, when the scope of the target area changes, the optimal codebook library can be automatically updated according to the method provided by the present disclosure, eliminating the need for manual operations such as measuring the target area's data and loading the RIS codebook library. This can effectively reduce the difficulty and cost of RIS deployment.
[0040] Compared with some technical solutions in which the coverage area corresponding to the codebook library and the target area cannot completely correspond, the coverage area of the optimal codebook library provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure is strongly correlated with the target area, which can effectively improve the utilization rate of system resources and reduce system costs and power consumption.
[0041] 1 is a schematic diagram of the architecture of a communication system provided by an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG1 , the communication system includes: a base station (BS) 110 , a RIS 120 , and a terminal device 130 .
[0042] The base station 110 is used to transmit and receive electromagnetic waves.
[0043] Exemplarily, the base station 110 may be a next generation Node B (gNB).
[0044] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG2 , a base station 110 includes a controller 111 and an antenna 112. The controller 111 is configured to manage wireless communication interfaces and wireless channels. The antenna 112 is configured to transmit and receive electromagnetic waves.
[0045] For example, the antenna 112 may transmit electromagnetic waves to the RIS 120 according to the control of the controller 111 .
[0046] In some embodiments, the base station 110 may further include a communication interface 113 for exchanging information with other devices. For example, the base station 110 may exchange information with the RIS 120 through the communication interface 113. The base station 110 may also exchange information with the terminal device 130 through the communication interface 113. The base station 110 may also exchange information with other devices such as network servers through the communication interface 113. The base station 110 may also exchange information with core network elements through the communication interface 113. For example, the core network elements may be: access and mobility management function (AMF), service management function (SMF), centralized coordination function (PCF), user port function (UPF), application function (AF), etc.
[0047] In some embodiments, the base station 110 may further include a memory 114 for storing data. For example, the memory 114 may be used to store a codebook.
[0048] Exemplarily, the memory 114 may be a read-only memory (ROM) or other type of static storage device that can store static information and instructions, a random access memory (RAM) or other type of dynamic storage device that can dynamically store information and instructions, an electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM), a disk storage medium or other magnetic storage device, or any other medium that can be used to carry or store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and can be accessed by a computer, but is not limited thereto.
[0049] The RIS 120 is configured to relay or forward electromagnetic waves transmitted by the base station 110 .
[0050] In some embodiments, RIS 120 can cover a target area by relaying or forwarding electromagnetic waves transmitted by base station 110. The target area is typically an area with signal coverage requirements or a terminal-intensive area, such as a square in a park. The target area can be flexibly adjusted based on the signal coverage requirements of the scenario.
[0051] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG3 , RIS 120 includes a signal relay module (RIS-Forwarding, RIS-Fwd) 121 and a communication and control module (RIS-Mobile-Termination, RIS-MT) 122 .
[0052] The RIS-Fwd121, or metasurface panel, is a reflective array composed of RIS elements. It adjusts the incident beam in different ways based on the codebooks of different RIS elements (the codebooks are used to control the spectrum, phase, amplitude, and polarization values of each RIS element). This allows the outgoing beam to achieve different amplitudes, widths, frequency shifts, and exit angles, as well as single-beam reflection, multi-beam reflection, diffuse scattering, refraction, and transmission.
[0053] RIS-MT 122 includes a controller 122 - 1 , a memory 122 - 2 , and a communication interface 122 - 3 .
[0054] The controller 122 - 1 is configured to transmit a relay beam indication (ie, a codebook) to the RIS-Fwd 121 and control the working state of the RIS-Fwd 121 .
[0055] Exemplarily, the controller 122-1 can control the working state of RIS-Fwd121 according to the instructions of the base station 110, such as: switch state (controlling the working or non-working of RIS-Fwd121, etc.); power control (controlling the reflected beam amplitude of RIS-Fwd121); relay beam indication (code book of RIS array of RIS-Fwd121).
[0056] It can be understood that a codebook represents a relative relationship between an incident beam and an outgoing beam. Therefore, for a reflectarray, a codebook can also be called a beam indication.
[0057] The memory 122-2 is configured to store a codebook.
[0058] For example, the memory 122 - 2 may store an optimal codebook library for the target coverage range.
[0059] The communication interface 122 - 3 is used to exchange information with other devices. For example, the RIS-MT 122 can exchange information with the base station 110 through the communication interface 122 - 3 .
[0060] Exemplarily, RIS-MT122 can receive control information (e.g., codebook switching information, etc.) sent by base station 110 through communication interface 122-3, and send RIS working status information, RIS configuration information, and RIS codebook set, etc. to the base station through communication interface 122-3.
[0061] Exemplarily, the communication interface 122 - 3 can interact with other devices through narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), fifth-generation mobile communication technology (5G), wireless network transmission (wireless fidelity, WiFi), etc.
[0062] The terminal device 130 is configured to communicate using the electromagnetic waves radiated by the RIS 120 .
[0063] In some embodiments, the terminal device 130 further includes a test terminal, which is configured to send measurement information measured in a target area to the base station 110, so that the base station 110 determines a target codebook library of the RIS 120 according to the measurement information.
[0064] Exemplarily, the measurement information may include a plurality of measurement quantities obtained by measuring a reference signal sent by a base station when the test terminal moves along an edge of the target area.
[0065] For example, the terminal device 130 may be a mobile phone, tablet computer, desktop computer, laptop computer, handheld computer, notebook computer, ultra-mobile personal computer (UMPC), netbook computer, cellular phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) device, etc. The embodiments of the present disclosure do not limit the form of the terminal device 130.
[0066] It should be noted that the system architecture and application scenarios described in the embodiments of the present disclosure are intended to more clearly illustrate the technical solutions of the embodiments of the present disclosure, and do not constitute a limitation on the technical solutions provided by the embodiments of the present disclosure. Ordinary technicians in this field can know that with the evolution of the system architecture and the emergence of new business scenarios, the technical solutions provided by the embodiments of the present disclosure are also applicable to similar technical problems.
[0067] The following introduces a method for determining a codebook library provided by an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0068] As shown in FIG4 , an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a method for determining a codebook library, which includes the following S201 - S202 .
[0069] S201: A base station obtains measurement information of a test terminal in a target area.
[0070] The measurement information may include a plurality of measurement quantities obtained by measuring a reference signal sent by a base station when the test terminal moves along an edge of a target area.
[0071] Exemplarily, the reference signal may be a channel sounding reference signal (SRS) sent by a base station.
[0072] Exemplarily, the measurement quantity may be a measurement quantity obtained by the test terminal when measuring the SRS. Exemplarily, the type of the measurement quantity may be an SRS symbol or a reference signal receiving power (RSRP).
[0073] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG5 , before the above S201 , the above method further includes the following S200 .
[0074] S200: The base station sends measurement configuration information to the test terminal.
[0075] Accordingly, the test terminal may perform measurement in the target area according to the measurement configuration information.
[0076] In some embodiments, in a scenario where there is a good communication environment between the base station and the test terminal and information can be directly exchanged between them, the above measurement configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: type of measurement quantity, measurement start time, measurement end time, and measurement period.
[0077] Exemplarily, after receiving the above-mentioned configuration information sent by the base station, the test terminal can move along the edge of the target area from the measurement start time to the measurement end time (and the movement trajectory covers the edge position of the entire target area); at the same time, the test terminal reports multiple measurement quantities to the base station in each measurement cycle (the time period from the measurement start time to the measurement end time may include one or more measurement cycles) (for example, when the reference signal is SRS, the type of measurement quantity may be the symbol of the measured SRS); wherein, one or more groups of measurement quantities may be reported in each measurement cycle.
[0078] In some embodiments, in a scenario where the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, the communication environment between the base station and the measurement terminal is poor due to the presence of obstructions) and information interaction cannot be performed directly, the above-mentioned measurement configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: the type of measurement quantity, the measurement start time, the measurement end time, the codebook scanning period, and the codebook switching sub-period in the codebook scanning period.
[0079] Exemplarily, after receiving the above-mentioned configuration information sent by the base station, the test terminal may move along the edge of the target area from the measurement start time to the measurement end time (and the movement trajectory covers the edge position of the entire target area); at the same time, the test terminal reports multiple measurement quantities (for example, when the reference signal is SRS, the type of the measurement quantity may be RSRP) and the codebook number corresponding to each measurement quantity to the base station in each codebook scanning cycle (the time period from the measurement start time to the measurement end time may include one or more codebook scanning cycles); wherein the number of measurement quantities reported in each codebook scanning cycle is the same as the number of codebook switching sub-cycles included in the codebook scanning cycle.
[0080] For example, assuming that the time from the measurement start time to the measurement end time includes i codebook scanning cycles, each codebook scanning cycle includes n codebook switching sub-cycles, and the test terminal reports n measurement quantities and the numbers of the n codebooks corresponding to the n measurement quantities to the base station in the jth (0≤j≤i) codebook scanning cycle. For example, the n measurement quantities may be rsrp{rsrpj0,rsrpj1,...,rsrpjn}, and the corresponding codebook numbers may be {cb0,cb1,...,cbn}.
[0081] In some embodiments, when the above-mentioned measurement configuration information is used to configure: a codebook scanning period, and a codebook switching sub-period in the codebook scanning period, the above-mentioned measurement information also includes measurement information of multiple codebook scanning periods, and the measurement information of the codebook scanning period includes identifiers and received signal strengths corresponding to multiple codebooks, and the multiple codebooks belong to codebooks in the initial codebook library.
[0082] It is understood that in scenarios where the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, due to the presence of obstructions between the base station and the measurement terminal), and direct information exchange is impossible, the RIS can switch codebooks based on the movement of the test terminal to emit different beams, thereby improving the signal quality of the test terminal and enabling the test terminal to send measurement information to the base station based on the measurement configuration information. Therefore, the measurement configuration information sent by the base station to the test terminal also includes information such as the codebook scanning period and the codebook switching sub-period within the codebook scanning period.
[0083] In some embodiments, the above method further includes: sending codebook scanning configuration information to the RIS, where the codebook scanning configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: measurement start time, measurement end time, codebook scanning period, codebook switching sub-period in the codebook scanning period, and codebook used for scanning in the initial codebook library.
[0084] It can be understood that in a scenario where the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, the communication environment between the base station and the measurement terminal is poor due to the presence of obstructions) and information interaction cannot be performed directly, the base station can send code book scanning configuration information to the RIS, and the RIS will switch the code book according to the code book scanning configuration information to improve the signal quality of the test terminal, so that the test terminal can send measurement information to the base station according to the measurement configuration information.
[0085] Exemplarily, after receiving the codebook scanning configuration information, the RIS may select a codebook for scanning from the initial codebook library and perform codebook switching according to the codebook scanning period and the codebook switching sub-period in the codebook scanning period from the measurement start time to the measurement end time.
[0086] The initial codebook library is a codebook library generated according to the relevant information of the RIS. The coverage area corresponding to the initial codebook library may be inconsistent with the target area (the coverage area corresponding to the initial codebook library may be larger or smaller than the target area).
[0087] In some embodiments, before the above S201, the method further includes: generating an initial codebook library.
[0088] Optionally, the above-mentioned "generating an initial codebook library" can be performed by a base station or other devices (for example, a network server, a core network element, or a third-party device with data processing capabilities). The embodiment of the present disclosure does not limit the codebook generation subject.
[0089] Exemplarily, assuming that the codebook generation entity is a device other than a base station, the above method can be implemented as follows: the base station sends a generation instruction to the codebook generation entity, and the codebook generation entity generates an initial codebook library; then, the base station obtains the initial codebook library sent by the codebook generation entity.
[0090] In some embodiments, the implementation of "generating an initial codebook library" is described by taking the base station as an example. Exemplarily, the above "generating an initial codebook library" can be implemented as follows a1-a2.
[0091] a1. The base station calculates the incident and outgoing phase difference of each RIS array on the RIS panel.
[0092] In some embodiments, the base station can determine the distance from the base station to each RIS array on the RIS panel based on base station location information, RIS panel location, RIS panel attitude, orientation, and other information; further, based on the distance from the base station to each RIS array on the RIS panel, the incident phase difference of each RIS array on the RIS panel is determined.
[0093] For example, the incident phase difference of each RIS array on the RIS panel may satisfy the following formula (1): Incident phase difference = 2π / λ*dn Formula (1)
[0094] π is the circumference of a circle, λ is the signal wavelength, d is the distance from the base station to each RIS array on the RIS panel, and n is the number of the RIS array.
[0095] In some embodiments, the distance from the target position to each RIS element on the RIS panel is determined based on information such as the RIS panel position, RIS panel attitude, and orientation. Furthermore, the output phase difference of each RIS element on the RIS panel is determined based on the distance from the target position to each RIS element on the RIS panel. The target position refers to the location at which the beam emitted by the RIS element is directed.
[0096] For example, the emission phase difference of each RIS array on the RIS panel can satisfy the following formula (2): Emission phase difference = 2π / λ*pn Formula (2)
[0097] Where p represents the distance from the target position to each RIS array on the RIS panel.
[0098] a2. The base station determines the initial codebook library based on the incoming and outgoing phase difference of each RIS array on the RIS panel.
[0099] For example, the phase value set of all RIS arrays on the RIS panel is a RIS codebook. Combined with information such as the maximum incident angle range and coverage angle range, multiple codebooks pointing to specific angles can be generated, that is, the initial codebook library is generated.
[0100] For example, the phase value of each RIS array can satisfy the following formula (3): Phase value = 2π - (incident phase difference + exit phase difference) % 2π Formula (3)
[0101] Among them, % represents the remainder operation.
[0102] Optionally, a design method such as a narrow beam design rule, a wide beam design rule, or an optimized beam design rule may be used to generate the initial codebook library.
[0103] Optionally, each codebook in the initial codebook library has a unique codebook number. Exemplarily, the initial codebook library may include n codebooks, the corresponding codebook numbers may be {cb0, cb1, ..., cbn}, and the corresponding outgoing azimuth angle of each codebook is {a0, a1, ..., an}, and the outgoing pitch angle is {b0, b1, ..., bn}.
[0104] In some embodiments, the initial codebook library and the codebook number corresponding to the initial codebook library may be stored in a memory of the base station or in a memory of the RIS.
[0105] S202: The base station determines a target codebook library corresponding to the target area based on the measurement information and the initial codebook library.
[0106] The target codebook library is a subset of the initial codebook library.
[0107] The target area is an area where signal coverage is desired. For example, the target area may be an area where signal coverage is required or an area with high terminal density, such as a square in a park.
[0108] In some embodiments, the above method may further include: the base station obtaining configuration information of the RIS.
[0109] Exemplarily, the configuration information of the RIS may include at least one of the following: information such as the position, posture, and orientation of the RIS panel.
[0110] Optionally, the configuration information of RIS can be configured by a network server, so that the base station can obtain the configuration information of RIS from the network server; or, the configuration information of RIS can be actively reported by RIS; or, the configuration information of RIS can be configured in the base station in advance; or, the base station can actively send a configuration information acquisition instruction to RIS, and then receive the RIS configuration information sent by RIS.
[0111] In some embodiments, a target codebook library corresponding to the target area is determined based on the measurement information, RIS configuration information, and the initial codebook library (including the initial codebook library number and the angle information corresponding to each codebook). For example, as shown in FIG6 , determining the target codebook library corresponding to the target area can be implemented as follows: S301-S304.
[0112] S301. A base station determines location information of multiple test terminals based on multiple measurement quantities.
[0113] The above-mentioned location information of the multiple test terminals refers to multiple location information of the test terminals in the process of moving along the edge of the target area.
[0114] Exemplarily, a measurement value can determine the location information of a test terminal. Assume that the SRS measurement value reported by the test terminal and received by the base station from the measurement start time to the measurement end time is {srs00,srs01,...,srs0j,srs10,srs11,...,srs1j,...,srsi0,srsi1,...,srsij}, and then the location information of the corresponding test terminal obtained based on the measurement value is {pos00,pos01,...,pos0j,pos10,pos11,...,pos1j,...,posi0,posi1,...,posij}.
[0115] S302: The base station determines angle information of the multiple test terminals relative to the RIS according to the location information of the multiple test terminals and the configuration information of the RIS.
[0116] The angle information of the test terminal relative to the RIS may include: an outgoing azimuth angle and an outgoing elevation angle.
[0117] It is understandable that, since the angle information of the test terminal relative to the RIS is different at different location information, the angle information of the test terminals relative to the RIS can be determined based on the location information of the test terminals and the configuration information of the RIS.
[0118] Exemplarily, a coordinate change method may be used to determine the angle information of the test terminal relative to the RIS. For example, steps b1-b2 below may be implemented.
[0119] b1. Convert the location coordinates of the base station, the RIS panel, and the test terminal into coordinates in a spatial coordinate system with the center of the RIS panel as the origin, the RIS horizontal axis as the x-axis, the RIS vertical axis as the y-axis, and the RIS normal as the z-axis.
[0120] b2. Convert the spatial coordinates obtained after the conversion in b1 into polar coordinates to obtain the corresponding emission azimuth and emission elevation angles.
[0121] Illustratively, the emission azimuth angles of the multiple test terminals relative to the RIS determined by the method provided in b1-b2 above are {a00, a01, ..., aij}, and the emission elevation angles of the multiple test terminals relative to the RIS are {b00, b01, ..., bij}.
[0122] S303: The base station determines the emission angle range of the target area relative to the RIS based on the angle information of the multiple test terminals relative to the RIS.
[0123] The emission angle range includes the emission azimuth angle range and the emission elevation angle range.
[0124] In some embodiments, the base station determines a maximum and a minimum emission azimuth angle from the emission azimuth angles of multiple test terminals relative to the RIS, and forms an emission azimuth angle range with the maximum and minimum emission azimuth angles.
[0125] In some embodiments, the base station determines a maximum and a minimum emission pitch angle from the emission pitch angles of multiple test terminals relative to the RIS, and the maximum and minimum emission pitch angles constitute an emission pitch angle range.
[0126] S304: The base station selects a codebook that meets the emission angle range from the initial codebook, and forms a target codebook library with the codebooks that meet the emission angle range.
[0127] In some embodiments, the codebook conforming to the emission angle range satisfies the following conditions: the emission azimuth angle corresponding to the codebook is within the emission azimuth angle range, and the emission elevation angle corresponding to the codebook is within the emission elevation angle range.
[0128] In some embodiments, when the measurement information includes measurement information of multiple codebook scanning periods (the multiple codebooks belong to codebooks in the initial codebook library), and the measurement information of the codebook scanning period includes identifiers corresponding to the multiple codebooks and received signal strengths, as shown in Figure 7, the above S202 can also be implemented as the following S401-S402.
[0129] S401: Determine identifiers of multiple target codebooks according to measurement information of multiple codebook scanning periods.
[0130] A target codebook is a codebook corresponding to the strongest received signal strength in the measurement information of a codebook scanning period.
[0131] S402: Determine a target codebook library according to identifiers of multiple target codebooks and an initial codebook library.
[0132] Exemplarily, the identifier of the target codebook may be the serial number of the target codebook.
[0133] In some embodiments, the above S402 may also be implemented as: selecting multiple target codebooks from the initial codebook library according to the identifiers of the multiple target codebooks, and forming a target codebook library with the multiple target codebooks.
[0134] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG8 , the above S402 may be implemented as the following S4021 - S4023:
[0135] S4021. Acquire angle information of the multiple target codebooks according to identifiers of the multiple target codebooks.
[0136] The angle information of the target codebook includes the outgoing azimuth angle and the outgoing elevation angle of the target codebook.
[0137] For example, since each codebook in the initial codebook library has a unique codebook number (i.e., a codebook identifier), and each codebook corresponds to an outgoing azimuth angle and an outgoing elevation angle, the above-mentioned S4021 can be implemented as determining multiple target codebooks from the initial codebook library according to the identifiers of the multiple target codebooks, as well as the angle information corresponding to each target codebook.
[0138] S4022: Determine an emission angle range of the target area relative to the RIS based on angle information of multiple target codebooks.
[0139] The emission angle range includes the emission azimuth angle range and the emission elevation angle range.
[0140] In some embodiments, the base station determines a maximum outgoing azimuth angle and a minimum outgoing azimuth angle from the outgoing azimuth angles of the plurality of target codebooks, and forms an outgoing azimuth angle range with the maximum outgoing azimuth angle and the minimum outgoing azimuth angle.
[0141] In some embodiments, the base station determines a maximum outgoing pitch angle and a minimum outgoing pitch angle from the outgoing pitch angles of multiple target codebooks, and forms an outgoing pitch angle range with the maximum outgoing pitch angle and the minimum outgoing pitch angle.
[0142] S4023: Select a codebook that meets the emission angle range from the initial codebook, and use the codebooks that meet the emission angle range to form a target codebook library.
[0143] In some embodiments, the codebook conforming to the emission angle range satisfies the following conditions: the emission azimuth angle corresponding to the codebook is within the emission azimuth angle range, and the emission elevation angle corresponding to the codebook is within the emission elevation angle range.
[0144] It is understood that the method for determining the codebook library provided in the embodiments of the present disclosure obtains measurement information of the test terminal in the target area; based on the measurement information and the initial codebook library, the target codebook library corresponding to the target area is determined. It can be seen that the method provided in the embodiments of the present disclosure can generate an optimal codebook library covering a specified area (e.g., the target area) according to the application scenario; at the same time, when the scope of the target area changes, the optimal codebook library can be automatically updated according to the method provided in the embodiments of the present disclosure, eliminating the need for manual operations such as measuring the data of the target area and loading the RIS codebook library, which can effectively reduce the difficulty and cost of RIS deployment.
[0145] Compared with some technical solutions in which the coverage area corresponding to the codebook library and the target area cannot completely correspond, the coverage area of the optimal codebook library provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure is strongly correlated with the target area, which can effectively improve the utilization rate of system resources and reduce system costs and power consumption.
[0146] For ease of understanding, the position measurement method provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure is described below in the form of examples in combination with application scenarios.
[0147] Scenario 1: As shown in FIG9 , there is a good communication environment between the base station and the test terminal, and information can be directly exchanged between them.
[0148] For example, as shown in FIG10 , in scenario 1, the position measurement method provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure may be implemented as the following Sd1 - Sd8 .
[0149] Sd1. The base station generates an initialization codebook library.
[0150] Exemplarily, the base station may generate an initialization codebook library according to the method provided in S200 above based on parameters such as base station location, RIS panel location, attitude, orientation, beam width, transmission / reflection mode, etc.
[0151] Exemplarily, the initial codebook library may include n+1 codebooks, the corresponding codebook numbers may be {cb0, cb1, ..., cbn}, the outgoing azimuth angle corresponding to each codebook is {a0, a1, ..., an}, and the outgoing elevation angle is {b0, b1, ..., bn}.
[0152] Sd2. The base station obtains the configuration information of RIS.
[0153] Exemplarily, the configuration information of the RIS may include at least one of the following: information such as the position, posture, and orientation of the RIS panel.
[0154] Optionally, the configuration information of RIS can be configured by a network server, so that the base station can obtain the configuration information of RIS from the network server; or, the configuration information of RIS can be actively reported by RIS; or, the configuration information of RIS can be configured in the base station in advance; or, the base station can actively send a configuration information acquisition instruction to RIS, and then receive the RIS configuration information sent by RIS.
[0155] Sd3. The base station sends measurement configuration information to the test terminal.
[0156] The measurement configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: type of measurement quantity (eg, SRS), measurement start time (ts), measurement end time (te), and measurement period (tc).
[0157] Sd4. The base station obtains measurement information of the test terminal in the target area.
[0158] The measurement information may include a plurality of measurement quantities obtained by the test terminal measuring a reference signal sent by a base station while the test terminal moves along an edge of a target area. The measurement quantities are used to determine the location information of the test terminal.
[0159] Exemplarily, after receiving the configuration information sent by the base station, the test terminal may move along the edge of the target area within the ts-te time (and the movement trajectory covers the edge position of the entire target area). The ts-te time period may include i tcs {tc0, tc1, ..., tci}, and the test terminal reports j measurement quantities {srs0, srs1, ..., srsj} to the base station within each tc.
[0160] Sd5. The base station determines the location information of the multiple test terminals based on the multiple measurement quantities.
[0161] For example, it is assumed that the SRS measurement quantity reported by the test terminal received by the base station within the ts-te time is {srs00,srs01,...,srs0j,srs10,srs11,...,srs1j,...,srsi0,srsi1,...,srsij}, and then the position information of the corresponding test terminal obtained according to the measurement quantity is {pos00,pos01,...,pos0j,pos10,pos11,...,pos1j,...,posi0,posi1,...,posij}.
[0162] Sd6. The base station determines angle information of the multiple test terminals relative to the RIS based on the location information of the multiple test terminals and the configuration information of the RIS.
[0163] Exemplarily, the base station calculates the outgoing azimuth angles {a00, a01, ..., aij} and outgoing elevation angles {b00, b01, ..., bij} of multiple test terminals relative to the RIS panel using coordinate transformation or other methods based on the base station's position, RIS panel position, attitude, orientation and other information.
[0164] Sd7. The base station determines the emission angle range of the target area relative to the RIS based on the angle information of the multiple test terminals relative to the RIS.
[0165] Exemplarily, the maximum emission azimuth angle amax and the minimum emission azimuth angle amin are screened out from the emission azimuth angles {a00, a01, ..., aij} of multiple test terminals relative to the RIS panel; the maximum emission pitch angle bmax and the minimum emission pitch angle bmin are screened out from the emission pitch angles {b00, b01, ..., bij} of multiple test terminals relative to the RIS panel.
[0166] Furthermore, the maximum emission azimuth angle amax and the minimum emission azimuth angle amin constitute the emission azimuth angle range (amin, amax); the maximum emission pitch angle bmax and the minimum emission pitch angle bmin constitute the emission pitch angle range (bmin, bmax).
[0167] Sd8. The base station selects a codebook that meets the emission angle range from the initial codebook, and forms a target codebook library with the codebooks that meet the emission angle range.
[0168] For example, if the codebook cbm (0≤m≤n) in the initial codebook library corresponds to an outgoing azimuth angle am that satisfies amin≤am≤amax, and an outgoing elevation angle bm that satisfies bmin≤bm≤bmax, then the codebook cbm is added to the optimal codebook library. Finally, a filtered optimal codebook library containing k (0≤k≤n+1) codebooks is obtained. The codebooks are numbered {cbopt0,cbopt1,...,cboptk}, and the corresponding angle ranges are the outgoing azimuth angles {aopt0,aopt1,...,aoptk} and the outgoing elevation angles {bopt0,bopt1,...,boptk}.
[0169] It can be understood that in a scenario where there is a good communication environment between the base station and the test terminal and information can be directly exchanged between them, the test terminal can directly send the measurement information to the base station; the base station can determine the location information of the test terminal based on the measurement information, and then combine the configuration information of the RIS, the location information of the test terminal and the initial codebook library to determine the target codebook library of the target area. In this way, compared with the indiscriminate full coverage solution, the system resource utilization rate can be effectively improved and the system cost and power consumption can be reduced.
[0170] Scenario 2: As shown in FIG11 , the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, the communication environment is poor due to the presence of an obstruction between the base station and the test terminal), and direct information exchange is not possible.
[0171] For example, as shown in FIG12 , in scenario 2, the position measurement method provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure may be implemented as the following Se1-Se9.
[0172] Se1. The base station generates an initialization codebook library.
[0173] For example, the implementation of Se1 can refer to the above Sd1, which will not be described in detail here.
[0174] Se2. The base station obtains the configuration information of RIS.
[0175] For example, the implementation of Se2 can refer to the above Sd2, which will not be repeated here.
[0176] Se3. The base station sends codebook scanning configuration information to the RIS.
[0177] The codebook scanning configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: measurement start time (ts), measurement end time (te), codebook scanning period (tscan), codebook switching subperiod (tq) in the codebook scanning period, and codebook used for scanning in the initial codebook library (for example, {cb0, cb1, ..., cbn} in the initial codebook library).
[0178] Exemplarily, after receiving the codebook scanning configuration information, the RIS may select a codebook for scanning from the initial codebook library according to tscan and tq within the time ts-te to perform codebook switching.
[0179] Se4. The base station sends measurement configuration information to the test terminal.
[0180] The measurement configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: the type of measurement quantity (e.g., RSRP), the measurement start time (ts), the measurement end time (te), the codebook scanning period (tscan), and the codebook switching sub-period (tq) in the codebook scanning period.
[0181] Se5. The base station obtains measurement information of the test terminal in the target area.
[0182] The measurement information may include a plurality of measurement quantities obtained by measuring a reference signal sent by a base station when the test terminal moves along an edge of a target area.
[0183] The measurement information includes measurement information of a plurality of codebooks (the plurality of codebooks belong to codebooks in the initial codebook library) during a scanning period. The measurement information of the codebook scanning period includes identifiers corresponding to the plurality of codebooks and received signal strengths.
[0184] Exemplarily, after receiving the above-mentioned configuration information sent by the base station, the test terminal can move along the edge of the target area within the ts-te time (and the movement trajectory covers the edge position of the entire target area). Exemplarily, assuming that the ts-te time includes i tscans, each tscan includes n+1 tqs, and the test terminal reports n+1 measurement quantities and n+1 rsrp{rsrpj0,rsrpj1,...,rsrpjn} to the base station in the jth (0≤j≤i) tscan, and the corresponding codebook number can be {cb0,cb1,...,cbn}.
[0185] Se6. The base station determines identifiers of multiple target codebooks based on measurement information of multiple codebook scanning periods.
[0186] Exemplarily, the base station may select the codebook corresponding to the strongest RSRP in each TSCAN in TS-TE as the target codebook, and determine the number of the target codebook to be {CBR0, CBR1, ..., CBR1}.
[0187] Se7. The base station obtains angle information of multiple target codebooks according to the identifiers of the multiple target codebooks.
[0188] For example, since each codebook in the initial codebook library has a unique codebook number (i.e., a codebook identifier), and each codebook corresponds to an outgoing azimuth angle and an outgoing elevation angle, the base station can determine, based on the identifiers of multiple target codebooks, an outgoing azimuth angle {ar0, ar1, ..., ari} and an outgoing elevation angle {br0, br1, ..., bri} for each target codebook from the initial codebook library.
[0189] Se8. The base station determines the emission angle range of the target area relative to the RIS based on the angle information of the multiple target codebooks.
[0190] Exemplarily, the maximum outgoing azimuth angle amax and the minimum outgoing azimuth angle amin are screened out from the outgoing azimuth angles {a00, a01, ..., aij} of multiple target codebooks; the maximum outgoing pitch angle bmax and the minimum outgoing pitch angle bmin are screened out from the outgoing pitch angles {b00, b01, ..., bij} of multiple target codebooks.
[0191] Furthermore, the maximum emission azimuth angle amax and the minimum emission azimuth angle amin form an emission azimuth angle range (amin, amax); the maximum emission elevation angle bmax and the minimum emission elevation angle bmin form an emission elevation angle range (bmin, bmax).
[0192] Se9. The base station selects a codebook that meets the emission angle range from the initial codebook, and forms a target codebook library with the codebooks that meet the emission angle range.
[0193] For example, if the codebook cbm (0≤m≤n) in the initial codebook library corresponds to an outgoing azimuth angle am that satisfies amin≤am≤amax, and an outgoing elevation angle bm that satisfies bmin≤bm≤bmax, then the codebook cbm is added to the optimal codebook library.
[0194] It is understandable that in scenarios where the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, the communication environment between the base station and the measurement terminal is poor due to the presence of obstructions), and direct information interaction is not possible, the base station can send codebook scanning configuration information to the RIS, and the RIS switches the codebook according to the codebook scanning configuration information to improve the signal quality of the test terminal, so that the test terminal can send measurement information to the base station according to the measurement configuration information. Furthermore, the base station can determine the identifier of the target codebook (the codebook with the strongest signal strength in each codebook scanning cycle) based on the measurement information; obtain the angle information of multiple target codebooks based on the identifier of the target codebook; determine the emission angle range of the target area relative to the RIS based on the angle information of the target codebook; and determine the target codebook library from the initial codebook library based on the emission angle range of the target area relative to the RIS. In this way, compared with the indiscriminate full coverage solution, the system resource utilization rate can be effectively improved, and the system cost and power consumption can be reduced.
[0195] Scenario 3: As shown in FIG11 , the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, the communication environment is poor due to the presence of an obstruction between the base station and the test terminal), and direct information exchange is not possible.
[0196] For example, as shown in FIG13 , in scenario three, the position measurement method provided by the embodiment of the present disclosure may be implemented as the following Sf1-Sf7.
[0197] Sf1. The base station generates an initialization codebook library.
[0198] For example, the implementation of Sf1 may refer to the above-mentioned Sd1, which will not be described in detail here.
[0199] Sf2. The base station obtains the configuration information of RIS.
[0200] For example, the implementation of Sf2 can refer to the above-mentioned Sd2, which will not be repeated here.
[0201] Sf3. The base station sends codebook scanning configuration information to the RIS.
[0202] For example, the implementation of Sf3 can refer to the above-mentioned Se3, which will not be repeated here.
[0203] Sf4. The base station sends measurement configuration information to the test terminal.
[0204] For example, the implementation of Sf4 can refer to the above-mentioned Se4, which will not be repeated here.
[0205] Sf5. The base station obtains measurement information of the test terminal in the target area.
[0206] For example, the implementation of Sf5 can refer to the above-mentioned Se5, which will not be repeated here.
[0207] Sf6. The base station determines identifiers of multiple target codebooks according to measurement information of multiple codebook scanning periods.
[0208] Exemplarily, the base station may select the codebook corresponding to the strongest RSRP in each TSCAN in TS-TE as the target codebook, and determine the number of the target codebook to be {CBR0, CBR1, ..., CBR1}.
[0209] Sf7. Select multiple target codebooks from the initial codebook library according to the identifiers of the multiple target codebooks, and form a target codebook library with the multiple target codebooks.
[0210] Exemplarily, the base station may use a codebook set consisting of codebooks corresponding to {cbr0, cbr1, ..., cbri} as the optimal codebook library.
[0211] It is understandable that in scenarios where the communication environment between the base station and the test terminal is poor (for example, the communication environment is poor due to the presence of obstructions between the base station and the measurement terminal), and direct information exchange is not possible, the base station can send codebook scanning configuration information to the RIS, and the RIS switches the codebook according to the codebook scanning configuration information to improve the signal quality of the test terminal, so that the test terminal can send measurement information to the base station according to the measurement configuration information. Furthermore, the base station can determine the identifier of the target codebook (the codebook with the strongest signal strength in each codebook scanning cycle) based on the measurement information; and determine the target codebook library from the initial codebook library based on the identifier of the target codebook. In this way, compared with the indiscriminate full coverage solution, the system resource utilization rate can be effectively improved, and the system cost and power consumption can be reduced.
[0212] As can be seen, Scenario 2 and Scenario 3 are applicable to essentially the same scenarios: they are both suitable for situations where there are significant obstructions between the base station and the measurement terminal, resulting in poor communication conditions or where the base station cannot easily obtain the test terminal's precise location information. The main differences between Scenario 2 and Scenario 3 lie in the analysis and configuration methods used by the base station to select the optimal codebook library, as well as the coverage of the optimal codebook library.
[0213] The optimal codebook library generated in scenario 2 is determined based on the angle range, so the coverage of the selected optimal codebook library is greater than or equal to the target area. The optimal codebook library generated in scenario 3 is composed of the target codebook with the strongest RSRP in each codebook scanning cycle, so the coverage of the selected optimal codebook library is less than or equal to the target area.

[0231] In some embodiments, the sending module 503 is further used to send codebook scanning configuration information to the RIS before obtaining measurement information of the test terminal in the target area, where the codebook scanning configuration information is used to configure at least one of the following parameters: measurement start time, measurement end time, codebook scanning period, codebook switching sub-period in the codebook scanning period, and codebook used for scanning in the initial codebook library.
