Abstract
Description
[0001] TRAP-TYPE DEVICE FOR CAPTURING PESTS IN AGRICULTURAL CROPS
[0002] TECHNOLOGY SECTOR
[0003] This utility model is located in the basic sciences sector, specifically in the areas of mechanical engineering and agricultural engineering.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
[0005] The device proposed in this patent application arose from the need identified by the inventor, as an agricultural producer, for the effective eradication or capture of vectors or pests that directly affected his agricultural crops, in this particular case, coffee. At that time, he sought to create an easy-to-use device that could be adapted to the different geographical or crop conditions for which it was intended. This led him to the proposed invention, which integrates the necessary elements and the ideal structural arrangement to effectively and efficiently capture the pests that affect this type of crop.
[0006] The device was initially used to capture and eradicate the scorch beetle and the coffee berry borer, pests that commonly affect coffee, avocado, and cocoa crops and are very common in the area where the inventor works. This capture action was implemented using natural agents, such as sealing wax and cassava paste, which are easily accessible and widely available in the areas where these crops are grown.
[0007] However, it can be inferred that the invention may be used for other types of pests, in any crop that requires it, and, in turn, with the use of any attractant, whether natural or not, and with the use of any odorless adhesive that does not camouflage the attractant's aroma or simply integrates it into its scent display. This is how this device is created, which, given its structure and arrangement of characteristic elements, allows the operator to generate the action of attracting, capturing, and killing the pests that affect each of their crops. It is additionally easy to transport, use, and acquire.
[0008] Thus, the state of the art has proven right in asserting that this is an invention susceptible to appropriation via the patentability process, given that it meets the requirements established in Andean regulations governing activities carried out within Colombian territory. This is a device that solves a real problem in the various activities generated in rural areas, given the destructive action generated by pests such as the scorch beetle and the borer, which is solved by their enticement, capture, and extermination through the proposed device.
[0009] To corroborate the above, a description will be provided of the findings within the state of the art, which demonstrate the reliability of being in the presence of a viable and pertinent patent application. In the technological surveillance carried out, two previously protected inventions were found, which in some way come close to what is proposed on this occasion, identified with the files US2019 / 0307123A1 (DI) and US8943743 B2 (D2), which differ widely from what is requested here, as will be explained in the following lines.
[0010] Regarding the first patent analyzed, DI refers to a barrier kit comprising attractants for the coffee berry borer Hypothenemus hampei, characterized in that it comprises a mixture of ethanol / methanol and (-)-limonene and / or 2-ethylhexanol. This kit is capable of significantly increasing the number of berry borers at a site of attraction and interest; it also serves as a "lure" or "bait" for the coffee berry borer. The ethanol / methanol mixture and (-)-limonene and / or 2-ethylhexanol further comprise a diluent; more particularly, said diluent lacks attraction activity toward said coffee berry borer. In particular, it can serve as a diffusion matrix for the kit's attractants and can also influence the diffusion of said attractant in the environment. The diluent can be solid or liquid.
[0011] The diluent can be a fatty substance with a scent like wax, paraffin, or mineral oil. There is talk of a diluent and attractant, but no reference is made to the use of sealing wax extract as a natural compound, nor to a structural arrangement that would better entice, trap, and exterminate the pest present in various crops, as the proposed device does.
[0012] Finally, the second patent analyzed or D2, refers to a device coated with a friable composition comprising an insecticide, the presence of openings in the device, the presence of a highly volatile attractant independently located within the device, and the composition comprising a toxic insecticide work together to release an effective concentration of the highly volatile attractant vapor into the environment at a rate that maintains attraction and at the same time kills the insect as soon as the insect comes into contact with the vapors of the insecticide or the composition impregnated on the surface of the device.
[0013] The solvent for the mixture consists of ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, chlorinated hydrocarbons, petroleum solvents, turpentine, xylene, and mixtures thereof. This device uses blue and red containers to attract pests.
[0014] The use of toxic components is evident, as the wording itself states, a circumstance that fully distances what is highlighted in the device proposed here, which uses a natural attractant, such as sealing wax extract, and which is also combined with its own unique structure that allows the seduction, attraction, capture and death of the pest, which contemplates its own and particular elements for the invention that is sought to be protected. In that order of ideas, the legal requirements for accessing an invention patent are met, such as the one highlighted throughout this document, because it is a clear development by its inventor, who, through his constant and real work in rural areas, has allowed him to understand the problems, needs and solutions that arise from the action carried out in different crops, which are largely focused on the negative intervention of pests, such as the borer and the scorch.
[0015] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] This refers to a trap-type device for capturing pests in agricultural crops. It is characterized by a conical body with an upward point divided into sections, within which there is a protective plate, an area with lateral openings where fins are arranged for the application of the paste or adhesive preferred by the operator, and within which there is a diffuser with an attractant connected to a wired support. At the bottom is a semicircular container that houses water with chlorine or soap to kill the attracted pest and prevent their proliferation.
[0017] The field of application of the present invention is directed to the agricultural sector, for the benefit of all kinds of crops.
[0018] DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES.

[0022] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0023] This refers to a trap-type device for capturing pests in agricultural crops, using an attractant diffuser and an adhesive agent, which generates the action of attracting, capturing, and killing the pests. This device uses natural attractants, such as pure sealing wax extract, and any type of adhesive or glue, provided that these do not mask the scent of the attractant, which will be spread by the diffusion generated from within. It is indicated that this device does not cause harm to the environment, humans, or animals, since natural agents are not polluting.
[0024] The action generated by the proposed device is due to the combination of its characteristics, such as the fact that it spreads the scent of a natural attractant and its structure is arranged in red and yellow colors, which entices and deters the pest from approaching the device and thus its capture or entrapment and possible extermination through the adhesive used. Finally, the trapped agents must fall into the semicircular area where water with chlorine or soap is available, killing the attracted pest and preventing its proliferation.
[0025] This device has the particularity of being conical with an upward point and presenting a lower semicircular end, which is divided into sections and has measurements that are available for use in different geographical and crop conditions, which range from 0.25 to 0.40 meters in height and in width it goes in diameters from 0.15 to 0.46 meters, which will allow it to generate its function in crops such as coffee, cocoa, avocado, lulo, pitahaya, among others.
[0026] To protect the device, but above all to prevent the adhesive from hardening too quickly and losing its functionality, a protective plate (1) is provided at the top of the trap proposed here, which can have diameters ranging from 0.30 to 0.50 meters. This plate has the particularity of being curved at its edges, to achieve the proposed action more efficiently.
[0027] Up to the middle part of the structure of the trap type device, a cable (2) is installed in a transverse-vertical manner, which at the top and through a cover (3) holds the protective plate (1) to the conical structure of the device and, at the lower tip holds the diffuser (4), which contains the natural attractant used by the operator. The diffuser (4) is characterized by being perforated and because it includes the attractant, which given its volatility is automatically diffused through the air that passes through the proposed device and given its strategic location.
[0028] In the middle part of the conical trap type device there are some lateral openings (5), through which the attractant diffuser (4) can be seen and its aroma expands, so that the vectors or pests enter or are attracted, captured and exterminated with the intervention of chlorine water or soap arranged in the lower part of the device, more specifically in the threaded semicircular base (6) of the trap. From the lateral openings there are two fins (7) in a horizontal orientation and perpendicular to the device, on which the adhesive used or preferred by the operator will rest, by means of which the trapping and capture of the pest will be allowed. This adhesive is arranged on the fins (7) and from the beginning of the lateral openings (5) to the base of the protective plate (1).
[0029] These side openings (5) are part of the middle area of the device and are shown as slots that can be closed with the movement underneath the fins (7) in a gate function and thus allow portability and use in other spaces of the proposed device.
