[0001] The present disclosure relates to connectors.

[0002] Patent Document 1 discloses a coaxial connector that includes contacts, a synthetic resin insulator that holds the contacts, and a metal shell that houses the insulator. The metal shell has a mating portion that mates with a mating male connector, and the mating portion is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape.

[0003] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2003-297491

[0004] The metal shell described in Patent Document 1 can function as a connector conductor including a cylindrical fitting portion. It is desirable to be able to obtain a desired contact load when connecting such a connector conductor to a mating male connector.

[0005] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to obtain a desired contact load when connecting a connector conductor to a mating connector.

[0006] The connector of the present disclosure is a connector equipped with a connector conductor, the connector conductor including a tubular portion and an elastic piece extending from an opening edge of the tubular portion, the tubular portion having a tubular-shaped tubular forming portion, a first circumferential end portion of the tubular forming portion, a second circumferential end portion of the tubular forming portion that is superimposed on the first end portion, and a crimping fixing portion that crimps and fixes the first end portion and the second end portion, and the tubular portion has a deformation absorbing opening that penetrates radially through the tubular portion.

[0007] According to the present disclosure, a desired contact load can be obtained when connecting a connector conductor to a mating connector.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the coaxial connector. Fig. 4 is an exploded perspective view showing the coaxial connector. Fig. 5 is a bottom view showing the coaxial connector. Fig. 6 is a perspective view showing the outer conductor. Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VII-VII in Fig. 5.

[0009] [Description of Embodiments of the Present Disclosure] First, embodiments of the present disclosure will be listed and described.

[0010] The connectors of the present disclosure are as follows.

[0011] (1) A connector having a connector conductor, the connector conductor including a tubular portion and an elastic piece extending from an opening edge of the tubular portion, the tubular portion having a tubular-shaped tubular forming portion, a first circumferential end portion of the tubular forming portion, a second circumferential end portion of the tubular forming portion that is superimposed on the first end portion, and a crimp fixing portion that crimps and fixes the first end portion and the second end portion, and the tubular portion has a deformation absorbing opening that penetrates radially through the tubular portion.

[0012] When the first end and the second end are crimped and fixed, it is expected that the effects of deformation due to crimping will spread to the area around the crimped fixing portion of the tubular portion. In this case, the tubular shape of the tubular portion may be partially distorted or the diameter of the tubular portion may increase. When a deformation-absorbing opening is formed in the tubular portion, as in this connector, the effects of deformation due to crimping are absorbed by the deformation-absorbing opening. Therefore, the tubular shape of the tubular portion is easily maintained in the desired shape. This stabilizes the support position of the elastic piece by the tubular portion, making it easier to obtain the desired contact load when connecting the connector conductor to a mating connector.

[0013] (2) In the connector of (1), the tube-forming portion and the first end portion are connected to form a tube shape of the same diameter, the second end portion is overlapped with the first end portion in the radial direction of the tube portion, and the deformation absorbing opening may be provided in a position closer to the center of the tube-forming portion in the circumferential direction of the tube portion than the position of the crimped fixing portion at the first end portion.

[0014] When the tube-forming portion and the first end are connected to form a tube shape of the same diameter, the influence of crimping on the first end may easily spread to the tube-forming portion. When the deformation absorbing opening is provided at a position closer to the circumferential center of the tube-forming portion than the position of the crimped fixing portion at the first end, the influence of crimping on the first end is less likely to spread to the portion of the tube-forming portion closer to the second end, and the tube shape of the tube-forming portion is more likely to be maintained in the desired shape.

[0015] (3) In the connector of (2), the deformation absorbing opening may be located at a boundary between the first end and the tube-forming portion in the circumferential direction of the tube portion.

[0016] This makes it difficult for the influence of the crimping on the first end to extend to the tube-forming portion, making it easier to maintain the desired cylindrical shape of the tube-forming portion.

[0017] (4) In the connector of (2) or (3), the portion of the first end on the opening edge side may be continuous with the tube-forming portion.

[0018] In this case, the portion of the first end on the opening edge side is continuous with the tube forming portion, so the elastic piece extending from the opening edge of the tube forming portion near the first end is easily kept in a fixed position.

[0019] (5) In the connector of (4), the elastic piece includes an end elastic piece extending from the opening edge at an end portion of the tube-forming portion that is connected to the first end, the end elastic piece having a contact portion that contacts the mating conductor, the contact portion facing one side radially inward or outward of the tube portion, and the second end may be superimposed on the first end on the opposite side of the orientation of the contact portion radially of the tube portion.

[0020] In this case, since the second end is overlapped with the first end on the opposite side to the orientation of the contact portion, the second end can support the force pressing the contact portion against the opposing conductor, making it easier to press the contact portion against the opposing conductor.

[0021] (6) In any one of the connectors (2) to (5), the second end may be overlapped on the inside of the first end and protrude further inward than the tube-forming portion.

[0022] In this way, by making the second end protrude further inward than the tube forming portion, it is easy to position the second end relative to the member inside the tube portion.

[0023] (7) In the connector according to any one of (2) to (6), the deformation absorbing opening may be formed in a slit-like opening shape.

[0024] In this case, the influence of deformation due to caulking is absorbed by the entire longitudinal length of the slit-shaped deformation absorbing opening, which makes it easier for the cylindrical shape of the cylindrical portion to be maintained in the desired shape.

[0025] (8) In the connector of (7), the deformation absorbing opening may extend in a direction intersecting the circumferential direction of the cylindrical portion.

[0026] This allows the effects of deformation caused by crimping to be absorbed along the entire longitudinal direction of the slit-shaped deformation-absorbing opening, which extends in a direction intersecting the circumferential direction of the tubular portion. This minimizes the impact on the size of the tubular portion and the uniformity of the degree of bending of the tubular portion. This stabilizes the support position of the elastic piece by the tubular portion, making it easier to obtain the desired contact load when connecting the connector conductor to the mating connector.

[0027] (9) In the connector of (8), the deformation absorbing opening may extend in the direction of the central axis of the tubular portion from the base end opening edge of the tubular portion opposite the opening edge to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion.

[0028] In this case, since the deformation absorbing opening extends in the central axial direction from the base-side opening edge of the tubular portion to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion, even if the first end or the second end is deformed by crimping, the deformation is unlikely to spread to other portions beyond the deformation absorbing opening. Also, since the deformation absorbing opening extends to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion, the deformation of the first end or the second end due to crimping is unlikely to spread in the circumferential direction.

[0029] (10) A connector according to any one of (1) to (9), further comprising an inner conductor and an insulator in which the inner conductor is housed, and the insulator may be housed within the tubular portion.

[0030] In this case, in a connector having an inner conductor, an insulator in which the inner conductor is housed, and a connector conductor as an outer conductor that houses the insulator, the connector conductor can be electrically connected satisfactorily to the mating conductor.

[0031] (11) In the connector of (10), a recess may be formed on the outer surface of the insulator, the second end may be located closer to the inner periphery of the tubular portion than the first end, and the second end may be fitted into the recess.

[0032] This makes it easier to position the outer conductor relative to the insulator.

[0033] [Details of the embodiment of the present disclosure] Specific examples of the connector of the present disclosure will be described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the present disclosure is not limited to these examples, but is defined by the claims, and is intended to include all modifications within the meaning and scope of the claims.

[0034] [Embodiment] A connector according to an embodiment will be described below. In this embodiment, an example in which the connector is a coaxial connector will be described. Note that a coaxial connector is a connector in which an outer conductor and an inner conductor therein are positioned coaxially. It is not essential that the connector be a coaxial connector; for example, multiple inner conductors may be positioned within the outer conductor.

[0035] <Overall Configuration of Device> An example of a device 10 equipped with a coaxial connector 60 will be described. Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the device 10 equipped with a coaxial connector 60. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line II-II in Fig. 1.

[0036] The device 10 is, for example, a camera device. The camera device is, for example, an in-vehicle device. The device 10 does not have to be a camera device.

[0037] The device 10 includes a case 12 and an electric component 20. The electric component 20 is housed in the case 12. A coaxial connector 60 is fixed to the electric component 20.

[0038] The case 12 includes a first case 13 and a second case 14. The first case 13 and the second case 14 are formed, for example, from resin. The first case 13 and the second case 14 are combined to form the rectangular box-shaped case 12 that houses the electrical components 20. If the device 10 is a camera device, it is assumed that the first case 13 has a lens or window for capturing images, and the second case 14 has a coaxial connector 30 for external connection.

[0039] The coaxial connector for external connection 30 is a coaxial connector for connecting the electrical component 20 to an external electrical component. For example, the coaxial connector for external connection 30 is a coaxial connector to which a cable connected to the external electrical component is connected. The cable to which the coaxial connector for external connection 30 is connected is, for example, a coaxial cable.

[0040] More specifically, a retaining tube portion 16 protrudes from the bottom 15 of the case 12. The retaining tube portion 16 is cylindrical and protrudes outward from the center of the bottom 15. The inner opening of the retaining tube portion 16 opens into the second case 14, and the outer opening of the retaining tube portion 16 opens to the outside of the second case 14. A retaining partition portion 17 is formed in the middle of the retaining tube portion 16 in the direction along the central axis X (axial direction). In this embodiment, the retaining partition portion 17 is formed in the middle of the retaining tube portion 16 in the direction along the central axis X, closer to the inner opening. The retaining partition portion 17 separates the space on the inner opening side of the retaining tube portion 16 from the space on the outer opening side. A retaining hole 17h is formed in the retaining partition portion 17, and the external connection coaxial connector 30 is inserted into and held in the retaining hole 17h.

[0041] In this embodiment, a locking protrusion 18a for holding a cable connector attached to the end of a cable is formed on the outer periphery of the holding tube portion 16. However, it is not essential that the locking protrusion 18a be formed.

[0042] The external connection coaxial connector 30 includes an external connection inner conductor 32 , an external connection insulator 34 , and an external connection outer conductor 36 .

[0043] The external connection inner conductor 32 is formed in a long, thin rod shape and is made of a conductive material such as metal. The external connection insulator 34 is made of an insulator such as resin and surrounds the external connection inner conductor 32. In this embodiment, the external connection insulator 34 is a dielectric. The external connection outer conductor 36 is made of a conductive material such as metal. The external connection outer conductor 36 is formed in a tubular shape that surrounds the external connection insulator 34.

[0044] The electrical component 20 is, for example, a mounting board on which electronic components are mounted. If the device 10 is a camera device, the electrical component 20 is assumed to be a circuit board 21 and an image sensor 22 mounted on the circuit board 21. The image sensor 22 faces an image capturing lens or window in the first case 13, and captures an image of the outside scenery by rotating the lens or window. Hereinafter, the side of the first case 13 toward which the image sensor 22 faces may be referred to as the front side, and the opposite side, the second case 14 side, may be referred to as the rear side.

[0045] In this embodiment, the coaxial connector 60 is located on the surface of the circuit board 21 opposite to the imaging element 22. The coaxial connector 60 is fixed to the circuit board 21 and protrudes from the circuit board 21 toward the coaxial connector for external connection 30. The coaxial connector 60 is a board-side coaxial connector. The coaxial connector 60 includes, for example, an inner conductor 62, an insulator 70, and an outer conductor 80. A movable-side inner conductor 42 (described later) is connected to the inner conductor 62. The insulator 70 surrounds the inner conductor 62. The outer conductor 80 surrounds the insulator 70. In other words, the inner conductor 62, the insulator 70, and the outer conductor 80 are concentrically arranged in this order from the center toward the outer periphery.

[0046] The coaxial connector 60 and the coaxial connector for external connection 30 are connected via a relay connector 40. The relay connector 40 includes, for example, a movable-side inner conductor 42, a movable-side insulator 44, and a movable-side outer conductor 46. The movable-side inner conductor 42 is surrounded by the movable-side insulator 44. In this embodiment, the movable-side insulator 44 is a dielectric. The movable-side outer conductor 46 surrounds the movable-side insulator 44. The movable-side inner conductor 42 is an example of a mating inner conductor connected to the inner conductor 62, the movable-side outer conductor 46 is an example of a mating outer conductor connected to the outer conductor 80, and the relay connector 40 is an example of a mating coaxial connector connected to the coaxial connector 60.

[0047] The relay connector 40 is connected to the coaxial connector 60 with the movable-side inner conductor 42 inserted and connected to the inner conductor 62 and the outer conductor 80 inserted and connected to the movable-side outer conductor 46. In this state, the relay connector 40 further protrudes from the coaxial connector 60 toward the coaxial connector for external connection 30. The external connection inner conductor 32 is inserted and connected to the movable-side inner conductor 42 and the movable-side outer conductor 46 is inserted and connected to the external connection outer conductor 36, thereby connecting the relay connector 40 to the coaxial connector for external connection 30. In this way, the relay connector 40 relays and connects the coaxial connector 60 and the coaxial connector for external connection 30.

[0048] As a result, when an external cable is connected to the coaxial connector 30 for external connection, an external electrical component to which the cable is connected is electrically connected to the electrical component 20 inside the case 12 .

[0049] When the relay connector 40 and the coaxial connector 60 are connected, the movable-side inner conductor 42 is inserted and connected at an angle relative to the inner conductor 62. Furthermore, the outer conductor 80 is inserted and connected at an angle relative to the movable-side outer conductor 46. In other words, the relay connector 40 can be connected at an angle relative to the coaxial connector 60 (see arrow P1 in FIG. 2). As a result, even if the coaxial connector 60 and the external-connection coaxial connector 30 are misaligned from their coaxially opposing positions during assembly of the device 10 or in the completed state (see arrow P2 in FIG. 2), the misalignment can be absorbed by the inclination of the relay connector 40 relative to the coaxial connector 60.

[0050] <Regarding the Coaxial Connector> The coaxial connector 60 will be specifically described. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the coaxial connector 60. Fig. 4 is an exploded perspective view showing the coaxial connector 60. Fig. 5 is a bottom view showing the coaxial connector 60.

[0051] As described above, the coaxial connector 60 includes, for example, the inner conductor 62 , the insulator 70 , and the outer conductor 80 .

[0052] The inner conductor 62 is an elongated conductive member (see FIGS. 2 and 4). In this embodiment, the inner conductor 62 is formed by pressing a metal plate. More specifically, the inner conductor 62 includes a proximal tubular portion 64 and a plurality of elastic pieces 66.

[0053] The base end tubular portion 64 is formed in a tubular shape, more specifically, a cylindrical shape, and is housed in the base end side of the insulator 70. Note that the tip of the coaxial connector 60 is the end to which the movable-side inner conductor 42 is connected, and the base end is the end opposite to the tip, in this case, the end facing the circuit board 21.

[0054] An extension piece 64a extends from the base end edge of the base end tubular portion 64 toward the inside of the base end tubular portion 64. The extension piece 64a is soldered to the circuit of the circuit board 21, for example.

[0055] The base end tubular portion 64 may have a positioning protrusion 64P that partially protrudes outward in the circumferential direction. The positioning protrusion 64P may be fitted into a recess in the insulator 70, thereby positioning the inner conductor 62 relative to the insulator 70.

[0056] A locking projection 64b is provided on the base end tubular portion 64. The locking projection 64b partially projects from the outer periphery of the base end tubular portion 64. The locking projection 64b is formed in a shape such that the projection dimension gradually increases from the tip of the base end tubular portion 64 toward the base end. When the base end tubular portion 64 is inserted into the insulator 70, the locking projection 64b hooks onto the inner periphery of the insulator 70, and the inner conductor 62 is held in a state where it will not come off the insulator 70.

[0057] The multiple elastic pieces 66 protrude further toward the distal end from the distal opening of the proximal end tubular portion 64. Preferably, the multiple elastic pieces 66 are positioned at equal intervals around the central axis X of the tubular portion 72. In this embodiment, two elastic pieces 66 face each other around the central axis X of the proximal end tubular portion 64.

[0058] The movable-side inner conductor 42 of the relay connector 40 is inserted from the tip side of the two elastic pieces 66 toward between the two elastic pieces 66. When the movable-side inner conductor 42 is sandwiched between the two elastic pieces 66, the movable-side inner conductor 42 is connected to the inner conductor 62.

[0059] The insulator 70 is made of resin or the like. A dielectric can be considered as a type of insulator, and the insulator 70 is also a dielectric. The insulator 70 is, for example, a molded resin part.

[0060] The insulator 70 includes a cylindrical portion 72 and a tip guide portion 76 .

[0061] The tubular portion 72 is formed in a cylindrical shape capable of accommodating the inner conductor 62. In this embodiment, the tubular portion 72 is formed in a cylindrical shape, and a columnar space is formed therein. The inner conductor is accommodated in the columnar space.

[0062] The outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 72 is formed into a circumferential surface shape centered on the central axis X. The outer conductor 80 is disposed on the outer peripheral side of the cylindrical portion 72. A positioning recess 72g is formed in a portion of the outer peripheral portion of the cylindrical portion 72 in the circumferential direction. The recess 72g has a pair of side surfaces 72g1 facing each other in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical portion 72 and a surface 72g2 facing the base end side of the cylindrical portion 72 (see FIG. 4). A second end portion 88 (described later) fits into the recess 72g. In this state, the position of the second end portion 88 is restricted by the pair of side surfaces 72g1 and the surface 72g2. This restricts the outer conductor 80, which is fitted onto the insulator 70, from rotating around the central axis X and moving toward the tip side relative to the insulator 70.

[0063] A plurality of (four in this example) elongated protrusions 72a are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 72. Each of the protrusions 72a extends parallel to the central axis X. The plurality of protrusions 72a are preferably positioned at equal intervals around the central axis X on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 72. The protrusions 72a contact the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 82 at positions distributed circumferentially. The cylindrical portion 82 may be formed with a locking portion 82P that locks onto the insulator 70.

[0064] The tip guide portion 76 is located on the tip side of the cylindrical portion 72. The tip guide portion 76 has an insertion hole 77 into which the movable-side inner conductor 42 can be inserted. The central axis X of the cylindrical portion 72 coincides with the central axis X of the insertion hole 77.

[0065] The inner peripheral surface of the insertion hole 77 is formed in a tapered shape that gradually reduces in diameter toward the inside of the cylindrical portion 72. The tip end of the movable-side inner conductor 42 is guided by the tapered inner peripheral surface of the insertion hole 77 toward between the multiple elastic pieces 66.

[0066] The outer periphery of the tip guide portion 76 protrudes further outward than the tubular portion 72. An outer periphery guide surface 78 that gradually expands in diameter toward the base end is formed on the outer periphery of the tip guide portion 76. The outer periphery guide surface 78 serves to guide the tubular portion of the movable-side outer conductor 46 to the outside of the outer conductor 80.

[0067] The annular back surface of the tip guide portion 76 facing the base end side extends perpendicular to the central axis X of the tubular portion 72. Elastic pieces 90 and 96, which will be described later, can elastically deform in the radial direction of the tubular portion 72 on the base end side of the annular back surface.

[0068] The outer conductor 80 is made of a conductive material such as metal, and surrounds the insulator 70. The outer conductor 80 is formed, for example, by pressing a metal plate.

[0069] The outer conductor 80 includes a tubular portion 82 and elastic pieces 90 and 96. In this embodiment, the outer conductor 80 includes an end elastic piece 90 and an additional elastic piece 96 as elastic pieces.

[0070] The tubular portion 82 is formed in a cylindrical shape that allows the tubular portion 72 to be placed inside. An end elastic piece 90 and at least one additional elastic piece 96 extend from the edge of the tip-end opening of the tubular portion 82. The end elastic piece 90 and the at least one additional elastic piece 96 are arranged at intervals in the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82. In this embodiment, there is one end elastic piece 90 and seven additional elastic pieces 96. The end elastic piece 90 and the at least one additional elastic piece 96 are arranged at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82.

[0071] With the base end of the insulator 70 housed within the tubular portion 82, these end elastic pieces 90 and at least one additional elastic piece 96 surround the tubular portion 72 between the tip guide portion 76 and the tubular portion 82.

[0072] The movable-side outer conductor 46 of the relay connector 40 is guided by the outer guide surface 78 of the tip guide portion 76 to the outer periphery of the end elastic piece 90 and the additional elastic piece 96. As a result, the end elastic piece 90 and the additional elastic piece 96 come into contact with the movable-side outer conductor 46 from the inner periphery, and the outer conductor 80 and the movable-side outer conductor 46 are connected.

[0073] <Regarding the Outer Conductor> The outer conductor 80, which is an example of a connector conductor, will be described in more detail. Fig. 6 is a perspective view showing the outer conductor 80. Fig. 7 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along line VII-VII in Fig. 5.

[0074] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 7, the outer conductor 80 includes a cylindrical portion 82, and an end elastic piece 90 and an additional elastic piece 96 extending from the edge of the opening on the tip side of the cylindrical portion 82.

[0075] The cylindrical portion 82 is a portion that is fitted onto the insulator 70. The cylindrical portion 82 is held in a fixed position relative to the insulator 70, and serves to support the outer conductor 80 in a fixed position relative to the insulator 70. Furthermore, for example, if the base end opening of the cylindrical portion 82 is soldered to a circuit of the circuit board 21, such as a ground circuit, it can serve to ground the movable-side outer conductor 46 to the ground circuit.

[0076] The cylindrical portion 82 includes a first end 84 , a cylindrical portion 86 , and a second end 88 .

[0077] The cylinder forming portion 86 has a cylindrical shape. The first end portion 84 is connected to one circumferential end of the cylinder forming portion 86. In this embodiment, the cylinder forming portion 86 has a cylindrical shape that corresponds to one circumference. Furthermore, even when the cylinder forming portion 86 is connected to the first end portion 84, the cylinder forming portion 86 still has a cylindrical shape that corresponds to one circumference.

[0078] In this embodiment, the width of one end of the tube-forming portion 86 is narrower than the other end in the direction of the central axis X. More specifically, the one end of the tube-forming portion 86 extends in the circumferential direction only on the side (opening edge side) from which the end elastic piece 90 extends. Therefore, the one end of the tube-forming portion 86 has a rectangular notch on the side opposite to the side (opening edge side) from which the end elastic piece 90 extends.

[0079] The first end 84 is connected to one end of the tube-forming portion 86 on the side opposite to the side from which the end elastic piece 90 extends (the opening edge side), and extends on the side opposite to the side from which the end elastic piece 90 extends (the opening edge side). In other words, the portion of the first end 84 on the opening edge side is connected to one end of the tube-forming portion 86. Therefore, with the tube-forming portion 86 and the first end 84 forming one circumference of a tube, one end of the tube-forming portion 86 and the first end 84 can face each other in the circumferential direction of the tube portion 82, and the other end of the tube-forming portion 86 can face each other in the circumferential direction of the tube portion 82.

[0080] The second end 88 is connected to the cylinder forming portion 86 on the opposite side from the first end 84. The second end 88 is the other end of the cylinder forming portion 86 in the circumferential direction. The second end 88 overlaps with the first end 84 in the radial direction of the cylinder portion 82. In other words, the first end 84, the cylinder forming portion 86, and the second end 88 are formed into a shape that exceeds one circumference of the cylinder, and both ends of the cylinder portion 82 overlap by the amount that exceeds one circumference. One of the overlapping portions is the first end 84, and the other is the second end 88.

[0081] In this embodiment, the second end 88 extends circumferentially from a portion of the other end of the tube-forming portion 86 that is closer to the side opposite the side from which the elastic pieces 90, 96 extend. In the direction of the central axis X of the tube portion 82, the width of the first end 84 and the second end 88 are set to be the same. Therefore, the second end 88 can overlap the first end 84. In this state, the second end 88 does not overlap one end 82 e of the tube portion 82, and one end 82 e of the tube portion 82 is exposed on the inner circumferential side of the tube portion 82.

[0082] The second end 88 may overlap the first end 84 on the inner circumferential side or the outer circumferential side. The second end 88 is preferably overlapped on the opposite side of the first end 84 from the orientation of the contact portion 93a. In this embodiment, the contact portion 93a faces the outer circumferential side, as will be described later. Therefore, the second end 88 overlaps the inner circumferential side of the first end 84.

[0083] Conversely to the above, when the elastic piece contacts the mating conductor from the outer periphery, that is, when the contact portion faces the inner periphery, it is preferable that the second end overlaps the first end on the outer periphery.

[0084] In this embodiment, the first end 84 and the tube-forming portion 86 are connected to form a cylindrical shape of the same diameter. That is, the first end 84 and the tube-forming portion 86 are formed to have the same radius of curvature about the central axis X. The second end 88 is overlapped inside the first end 84 and protrudes inward from the tube-forming portion 86. More specifically, one end 82e of the tube-forming portion 86 and the first end 84 form the same arc when viewed along the central axis X. A step 87 is formed between the tube-forming portion 86 and the second end 88. The step of the step 87 is set, for example, to be approximately the thickness of the tube portion 82. The second end 88 protrudes inward from the tube-forming portion 86 via the step 87. The second end 88 protrudes inward from the first end 84 and the tube-forming portion 86 by the thickness of the tube portion 82.

[0085] With the tubular portion 72 of the insulator 70 housed within the tubular portion 82, the second end 88 fits into the positioning recess 72g of the tubular portion 72. In this state, rotation of the outer conductor 80 relative to the insulator 70 is prevented to the extent that the second end 88 contacts one of a pair of side surfaces 72g1 of the recess 72g. The width of the recess 72g in the circumferential direction of the insulator 70 may be the same as or different from the width of the second end 88 in the same direction. The contact of the second end 88 with the surface 72g2 of the recess 72g prevents the tubular portion 72 of the insulator 70 from being over-inserted into the tubular portion 82 of the outer conductor 80.

[0086] The tubular portion 82 further includes a crimping portion 83. The crimping portion 83 is a portion that crimps and fixes the overlapped first end portion 84 and second end portion 88. The crimping portion 83 maintains the overlapped state of the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88 by plastic deformation of at least one of the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88.

[0087] In this embodiment, a convex portion 83 a is formed by plastic deformation on one of the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88, and a concave portion 83 b is formed by plastic deformation on the other of the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88. The convex portion 83 a fits into the concave portion 83 b, thereby maintaining the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88 in an overlapping state.

[0088] More specifically, for example, the overlapping first end portion 84 and second end portion 88 are sandwiched and pressed between a press die having a convex portion and a press die having a concave portion. Then, portions of the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88 are extrusion-pressed toward each other from the convex portion of the press die toward the concave portion of the press die. The first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88 are simultaneously press-molded with mating convex portions 83 a and concave portions 83 b (see FIG. 7 ). For example, the convex portion of the press die is pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the first end portion 84, and the concave portion of the press die is disposed on the inner circumferential surface of the second end portion 88. Through the press process, a convex portion 83 a protruding toward the inner circumferential surface of the first end portion 84 is formed. Furthermore, a concave portion 83 b is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the second end portion 88. The convex portion 83 a of the first end portion 84 fits into the concave portion 83 b of the second end portion 88, maintaining the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88 in an overlapping state.

[0089] Such a joining structure may be, for example, a structure called spot caulking or a structure called draw lock.

[0090] A deformation absorbing opening 82S is formed in the tubular portion 82, penetrating radially through the tubular portion 82. The deformation absorbing opening 82S is an opening for absorbing the effects of deformation caused by crimping when forming the crimped fixing portion 83. For example, when the first end portion 84 is compressed by the crimping process, the first end portion 84 may be deformed and stretched by the compression. If this deformation spreads to the entire tubular portion 82, the cylindrical shape of the tubular portion 82 may be distorted, or the diameter of the tubular portion 82 may become larger than the design value. The deformation absorbing opening 82S is an opening for absorbing the deformation caused by crimping, thereby preventing the effects of the deformation caused by crimping from spreading to the entire tubular portion 82. It is preferable that the deformation absorbing opening 82S have a space large enough to accommodate a deformation-affecting portion that is stretched or displaced due to partial deformation of the tubular portion 82.

[0091] The deformation absorbing opening 82S may be formed in any location in the tubular portion 82. This is because, regardless of where the deformation absorbing opening 82S is formed in the tubular portion 82, the deformed portion will be disposed within the deformation absorbing opening, and the spread of deformation from the deformation-causing portion in the tubular portion 82 to other portions will be suppressed.

[0092] As described in this embodiment, the deformation absorbing opening 82S is preferably provided at a position closer to the circumferential center M (see FIG. 6) of the tube forming portion 86 than the position of the crimped fixing portion 83 at the first end portion 84. This prevents deformation caused by deformation of the crimped fixing portion 83 at the first end portion 84 from spreading to the other end side of the tube forming portion 86. This makes it easier to maintain the cylindrical shape of the tube portion 82 in a predetermined shape without distortion.

[0093] More preferably, as described in this embodiment, the deformation absorbing opening 82S is located at the boundary between the first end 84 and the cylindrical portion 82 in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical portion 82. Therefore, the influence of crimping on the first end 84 is less likely to extend to the cylindrical portion 86. This makes it easier for the cylindrical portion 86 to maintain its initial cylindrical shape, and easier for the cylindrical shape of the cylindrical portion 82 to be maintained in a predetermined shape without distortion.

[0094] The deformation absorbing opening may be formed at a position other than the above. For example, the deformation absorbing opening may be formed at a portion of the first end 84 that overlaps with the second end 88, or may be formed at a position on the tube-forming portion 86 that does not overlap with the second end 88. Furthermore, for example, the deformation absorbing opening may be located closer to the circumferential center of the tube-forming portion 86 than the position of the crimped fixing portion 83 on the first end 84. Furthermore, the deformation absorbing opening may be located at the boundary between the second end and the tube-forming portion 86 in the circumferential direction of the tube portion 82. Furthermore, the deformation absorbing opening may be located between the crimped fixing portion 83 and the elastic pieces 90, 96 in the direction of the central axis X of the tube portion 82.

[0095] Furthermore, the shape of the deformation absorbing opening 82S is not particularly limited as long as it has a space large enough to accommodate the deformation-affecting portion of the cylindrical portion 82. The deformation absorbing opening may be, for example, a slit-like opening with a certain width, or a circular, elliptical, or polygonal through-opening. Multiple deformation absorbing openings may be formed in the cylindrical portion 82. In this case, the multiple deformation absorbing openings may be arranged linearly with intervals between them, or may be arranged in a scattered manner.

[0096] In this embodiment, the deformation absorbing opening 82S is formed in a slit-like opening shape. The deformation absorbing opening 82S has a pair of inner surfaces along its longitudinal direction, the pair of inner surfaces facing each other with a gap therebetween. A space is formed between the pair of inner surfaces in which the deformation influence portion can be disposed.

[0097] The deformation absorbing opening 82S preferably extends in a direction intersecting the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82. In this embodiment, the deformation absorbing opening 82S extends in the direction of the central axis X of the tubular portion 82. Therefore, the influence of the deformation-influencing portion occurring in the crimped fixing portion 83 is absorbed by the entire longitudinal direction of the deformation absorbing opening 82S extending in a direction intersecting the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82. This makes it more difficult for the influence of the deformation-influencing portion to propagate to the tube-forming portion 86. Note that the deformation absorbing opening 82S may extend in a diagonal direction with respect to the direction of the central axis X, or may extend while bending partway along.

[0098] Furthermore, it is preferable that the deformation absorbing opening 82S extends in the direction of the central axis X from the base-end opening edge of the tubular portion 82 to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion 83. The base-end opening edge is the opening edge of the tubular portion 82 on the opposite side to the opening edge from which the elastic pieces 90, 96 extend.

[0099] The elongation deformation at the first end 84 occurs around the crimped fixing portion 83. For this reason, it is conceivable that the tubular portion 82 will be distorted or its diameter will change around the position of the crimped fixing portion 83 in the direction of the central axis X. If the deformation absorbing opening 82S extends in the direction of the central axis X from the base end opening edge of the tubular portion 82 to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion 83, the influence of the elongation deformation of the crimped fixing portion 83 will be less likely to spread in the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82. Note that the deformation absorbing opening may have a length in the direction of the central axis X that does not exceed the crimped fixing portion 83.

[0100] The outer conductor 80 includes elastic pieces, such as an end elastic piece 90 and an additional elastic piece 96 .

[0101] The end elastic piece 90 extends from the edge of the opening at the one end 82 e , which is the end portion of the tube-forming portion 86 that is connected to the first end 84 .

[0102] The end elastic piece 90 extends from the edge of the opening on one side of the cylindrical portion 82 and is connected to the movable-side outer conductor 46 as the mating terminal.

[0103] That is, on the opening edge side of the tubular portion 82, the tubular forming portion 86 forms a cylindrical shape of one circumference, and at least a portion of the end elastic piece 90 extends from the opening edge of one end 82e of the tubular forming portion 86 to one side in the direction of the central axis X.

[0104] It is sufficient that at least a portion of the base end of the end elastic piece 90 is connected to one end 82e of the tube-forming portion 86. In this embodiment, the first end 84 and the second end 88 are overlapped with each other in an area that is equal to or less than half the width of the end elastic piece 90. Therefore, the one end 82e of the tube-forming portion 86 that is connected to the first end 84 is connected to the end elastic piece 90 over half or less than half of the base end of the end elastic piece 90 in the width direction. The end elastic piece 90 may be connected to one end over a wider width.

[0105] The end elastic piece 90 has an inclined portion 92, a bulging portion 93, and a tip guide portion 94. The inclined portion 92, the bulging portion 93, and the tip guide portion 94 are connected in this order from the tubular portion 82 toward one side of the central axis X of the tubular portion 82.

[0106] The inclined portion 92 is a plate-like portion directly connected to the one end 82e and separated from the adjacent additional elastic piece 96. The inclined portion 92 extends from the one end 82e so as to be inclined toward the central axis X (here, inclined toward the outer periphery). Therefore, the end elastic piece 90 can elastically deform inward and outward directions of the tubular portion 82, mainly in the portion from the boundary between the one end 82e and the inclined portion 92 to the tip end.

[0107] The bulging portion 93 forms a curved surface that is convex outward from the tip of the inclined portion 92 and faces one side of the central axis X. The part of the bulging portion 93 that protrudes most outward in the radial direction of the cylindrical portion 82 is a contact portion 93a that faces outward and comes into contact with the movable-side outer conductor 46.

[0108] The tip guide portion 76 is inclined inward from the tip of the bulging portion 93 toward one side of the central axis X.

[0109] When the outer conductor 80 is inserted into the movable-side outer conductor 46, the tip guide portion 76 comes into contact with the edge of the opening of the movable-side outer conductor 46, thereby guiding the end elastic piece 90 toward the inner periphery of the movable-side outer conductor 46. When the outer conductor 80 is inserted into the movable-side outer conductor 46, the inclined portion 92 is primarily elastically deformed toward the inner periphery. The elastic force of the inclined portion 92 as it tries to return to its original shape elastically presses the contact portion 93a against the inner periphery of the movable-side outer conductor 46. In this state, a force toward the inner periphery acts on the inclined portion 92 of the end elastic piece 90. For this reason, it is desirable to firmly support the one end 82e that supports the inclined portion 92 so that it does not displace toward the inner periphery.

[0110] In this embodiment, the second end 88 is overlapped on the inside of the first end 84 that is connected to the one end 82 e. Therefore, the first end 84 is firmly supported by the second end 88 so as not to be displaced inward, and the one end 82 e that is connected to the first end 84 is also firmly supported so as not to be displaced inward.

[0111] The second end 88 protrudes radially inward beyond the first end 84 and the cylindrical portion 86. With the cylindrical portion 72 of the insulator 70 housed within the cylindrical portion 86, the second end 88 fits into a positioning recess 72g of the cylindrical portion 72. In this state, rotation of the outer conductor 80 relative to the insulator 70 is prevented within the range where the second end 88 contacts one of a pair of side surfaces 72g1 of the recess 72g.

[0112] Furthermore, the surface of the second end 88 facing the end elastic piece 90 comes into contact with the surface 72g2 of the recess 72g, thereby preventing the tubular portion 72 of the insulator 70 from being over-inserted into the tubular portion 82 of the outer conductor 80.

[0113] The bottom surface 72gb of the recess 72g is preferably formed at a position that can receive displacement of the second end portion 88 toward the inner periphery.

[0114] In this embodiment, the bottom surface 72gb is formed in a plane parallel to the central axis X. When the second end 88 is disposed in the recess 72g, the inner peripheral portion of the second end 88 is in contact with or faces the bottom surface 72gb at a distance, which allows the bottom surface 72gb to absorb the displacement of the second end 88 toward the inner peripheral side.

[0115] It is not essential that the bottom surface 72gb and the second end 88 are in contact with each other. For example, a configuration may be adopted in which a gap of 1 mm or less is formed between the bottom surface 72gb and the second end 88, and the second end 88 displaced inward comes into contact with the bottom surface 72gb, thereby allowing the bottom surface 72gb to receive the displacement of the second end 88 inward.

[0116] As described above, the outer conductor 80 further includes at least one additional elastic piece 96 extending from the edge of the opening of the tubular portion 82. In this embodiment, the outer conductor 80 includes a plurality of additional elastic pieces 96, specifically, seven additional elastic pieces 96. In other words, the outer conductor 80 includes a plurality of elastic pieces 90, 96, more specifically, eight elastic pieces 90, 96.

[0117] The additional elastic piece 96 is formed in the same shape as the end elastic piece 90 except for the portion supported by the cylindrical portion 82 .

[0118] The multiple elastic pieces 90, 96 are supported so as to be aligned at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82. Note that "equal intervals" includes uniformity within a margin of error (for example, the same within a range of ±5 degrees around the central axis X). When viewed along the central axis X of the tubular portion 82, the multiple elastic pieces 90, 96 are aligned radially with the central axis X of the tubular portion 82 as the center.

[0119] When the outer conductor 80 is inserted into the movable-side outer conductor 46, the multiple elastic pieces 90, 96 contact the inner periphery of the movable-side outer conductor 46 at equal intervals along the circumferential direction. Because the multiple elastic pieces 90, 96 have the same shape and are arranged at equal intervals along the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82, the multiple elastic pieces 90, 96 are pressed against the movable-side outer conductor 46 under the same conditions. Furthermore, if the multiple elastic pieces were supported by a tubular member with a slit, the tubular member could elastically deform inward and outward near the slit, potentially weakening the force supporting the elastic pieces and the elastic force pressing the elastic pieces against the mating conductor. In this embodiment, the first end 84 is supported by the second end 88, making it easy to support the base end of the end elastic piece 90 in a fixed position, and therefore easy to maintain the end elastic piece 90 pressed against the movable-side outer conductor 46 with the desired design contact load.

[0120] Furthermore, the deformation of the crimped fixing portion 83 is absorbed by the deformation absorbing opening 82S, making it difficult for the deformation to spread to other areas. This makes it difficult for the cylindrical shape of the tubular portion 82 to be partially deformed or for the tubular size to increase, making it easy for the tubular portion 82 to maintain its predetermined cylindrical shape. This makes it easy for the multiple elastic pieces 90, 96 to be pressed against the movable-side outer conductor 46 under the same conditions.

[0121] <Effects, etc.> With the coaxial connector 60 configured as described above, when the first end 84 and the second end 88 are crimped and fixed, it is expected that the effects of deformation due to crimping will spread to the area around the crimped fixing portion 83 of the tubular portion 82. In this case, the tubular shape of the tubular portion 82 may be partially distorted or the diameter of the tubular portion 82 may increase. If the deformation absorbing opening 82S is formed in the tubular portion 82, the area where deformation due to crimping spreads is located within the deformation absorbing opening 82S, and the effects of deformation are suppressed at the boundary of the deformation absorbing opening 82S. This makes it easier to maintain the tubular shape of the tubular portion 82 in the desired shape. This stabilizes the support positions of the elastic pieces 90 and 96 by the tubular portion 82, making it easier to firmly hold the elastic pieces 90 and 96 in a fixed position suitable for connection with the mating movable-side outer conductor 46, and making it easier to obtain the desired contact load. Furthermore, since the deformation of the crimped fixing portion 83 is unlikely to affect the tubular portion 82, the amount of deformation of the crimped fixing portion 83 can be increased, and the first end portion 84 and the second end portion 88 can be firmly fixed together.

[0122] Furthermore, by fixing the first end 84 and the second end 88 with the crimping fixing portion 83, the outer conductor 80 can be manufactured at a lower cost than when a connector conductor is formed by cutting or welding a plate material.

[0123] Furthermore, if the tube-forming portion 86 and the first end 84 are connected to form a tube shape of the same diameter, the effects of crimping on the first end 84 may easily spread to the tube-forming portion 86. If the deformation absorbing opening 82S is provided in a position in the circumferential direction of the tube portion 82 closer to the center M of the tube-forming portion 86 in the circumferential direction than the position of the crimped fixing portion 83 at the first end 84, the effects of crimping on the first end 84 are less likely to spread to the second end 88 side of the tube-forming portion 86, and the tube shape of the tube-forming portion 86 is more likely to be maintained in the desired shape.

[0124] Furthermore, when the deformation absorption opening 82S is formed at the boundary between the first end 84 and the tube forming portion 86, the effect of crimping on the first end 84 is less likely to spread to the tube forming portion 86, making it easier to maintain the desired cylindrical shape of the tube forming portion 86.

[0125] Furthermore, since the first end 84 is connected to one end 82e of the tube forming portion 86 on the opening edge side, the end elastic piece 90 extending from the opening edge of the tube forming portion 86 near the first end 84 is easily maintained in a constant position.

[0126] The second end 88 is overlapped with the first end 84 on the side opposite to the orientation of the contact portion 93 a. Therefore, the second end 88 can support the force pressing the contact portion 93 a against the movable-side outer conductor 46, making it easier to press the contact portion 93 a against the movable-side outer conductor 46.

[0127] Furthermore, since the second end 88 protrudes further inward than the first end 84 and the tube-forming portion 86, it is easy to position the second end 88 relative to the member inside the tube portion 82, in this case the insulator 70.

[0128] In this embodiment, a recess 72g is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the insulator 70, and the second end 88 fits into the recess 72g. This makes it easy to position the outer conductor 80 relative to the insulator 70.

[0129] Furthermore, since the deformation absorbing opening 82S is formed in a slit-like opening shape, the influence of deformation due to crimping is absorbed over the entire longitudinal direction of the slit-like deformation absorbing opening 82S, which makes it easier to maintain the cylindrical shape of the tubular portion 82 in the desired shape.

[0130] Furthermore, the effects of deformation due to crimping are absorbed along the entire longitudinal direction of the slit-shaped deformation absorbing opening 82S, which extends in a direction intersecting the circumferential direction of the tubular portion 82. This reduces the impact on the size and uniformity of the tubular portion 82. Furthermore, the support positions of the elastic pieces 90, 96 by the tubular portion 82 are stable, making it easier to obtain the desired contact load when connecting the outer conductor 80 to the movable-side outer conductor 46.

[0131] Furthermore, the deformation absorbing opening 82S extends in the direction of the central axis X from the base-end opening edge of the tubular portion 82 opposite the opening edge to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion 83. Therefore, even if the first end portion 84 is deformed by crimping, the deformation is unlikely to spread to other portions with the deformation absorbing opening 82S as a boundary. Furthermore, because the deformation absorbing opening 82S extends to a position beyond the crimped fixing portion 83, the deformation of the first end portion 84 due to crimping is unlikely to spread in the circumferential direction.

[0132] The coaxial connector 60 further includes an inner conductor 62 and an insulator 70 , and the outer conductor 80 housing the insulator 70 can be electrically connected to the movable-side outer conductor 46 in a satisfactory manner.

[0133] Furthermore, the second end 88 fits into the recess 72 g of the insulator 70 , so that the outer conductor 80 can be positioned relative to the insulator 70 using the second end.

[0134] [Modification] In the above embodiment, the configuration related to the tubular portion 82 of the outer conductor 80 may be applied to the tubular portion of another connector conductor. For example, a configuration in which the first end and the second end of the tubular portion 82 are overlapped and fixed to the base end tubular portion 64 of the inner conductor 62 in the above embodiment, and a deformation absorbing opening is formed, may be applied.

[0135] The configurations described in the above embodiment and modifications can be combined as appropriate as long as they are not mutually inconsistent.
