Abstract
Description
Brake assembly for motor
[0001] The present invention relates to a brake assembly for a motor, and more particularly, to a brake assembly for a motor that generates at least one of a static friction force and a brake torque to stop the rotational movement of a rotor, which is a rotating body constituting a motor.
[0002] Brakes are used to stop the rotational motion of a rotating body. There are various types of brakes that stop the rotational motion of rotating bodies, such as automobile wheels, bicycle wheels, and rotors used as the rotating body of a motor.
[0003] A typical braking method for stopping a rotating body uses a mechanical friction method that provides static friction to the rotating rotor. Representative mechanical friction methods include caliper disc brakes and drum brakes.
[0004] Motors utilize rotating bodies, such as the aforementioned rotor, and are widely used in various fields. Recently, motors have also been widely used in robotics industries, such as collaborative robots and industrial robots. These robotics industries demand precision and miniaturization. A motor is essentially composed of a rotor, which is connected to a rotating shaft and serves as a rotating body, and a stator, which provides rotational driving force to the rotor. Motors utilize the rotation and stationary motions of the rotor to provide a variety of driving methods.
[0005] Meanwhile, motors used in the robotics industry require precision in driving, which requires accuracy in driving and stopping, as described above, and must be miniaturized for use in robot joints. Here, the precision of the motor's driving requires that the rotor's rotational speed or the rotor's operation and stopping accurately correspond to the set data. In particular, to prevent safety accidents, a technology is required to quickly and accurately stop the rotor when the current supplied to the motor is interrupted due to a power outage during the rotor's rotation. Furthermore, since ultra-small motors are often used in the robotics industry, a design structure that accurately stops the rotor of an ultra-small motor is required.
[0006] An object of the present invention is to provide a brake assembly for a motor having an improved structure so as to enable precise control of braking of a rotor when driving a motor.
[0007] In addition, another object of the present invention is to provide a brake assembly for a motor having an improved structure capable of quickly and accurately braking a rotor to prevent a safety accident when a power outage occurs during operation of the motor and the current supply is cut off.
[0008] The solution to the above problem is achieved by a brake assembly for a motor having a stator and a rotor according to the present invention, characterized in that it includes a latch disc disposed opposite the stator along the rotational axis of the rotor with the rotor therebetween, a latch bar that interconnects the stator and the latch disc and selectively contacts and releases the rotor and the stator based on the rotational movement of the latch disc, and an actuator that is connected along the circumferential direction of the latch disc and rotates the latch disc based on whether or not current is supplied.
[0009] Here, the actuator may include a valve body and a rod that is accommodated in the valve body and connected to the latch disk and that is linearly moved between a first position where the rotor and the stator are out of contact and a second position where the rotor and the stator are in contact based on whether current is supplied.
[0010] When current is supplied to the actuator, the load can be extended to rotate the latch disc so that the latch bar pulls the stator to the first position.
[0011] When the current supply to the actuator is cut off, the load can contract to pull the stator to the second position, thereby causing the latch disc to rotate.
[0012] At least three of the above actuators are arranged along the circumference of the latch disk and can rotate the latch disk in different directions based on whether current is supplied.
[0013] The actuator is disposed on the side of the latch disk along the circumferential direction of the latch disk and can rotate the latch disk in different directions based on whether current is supplied.
[0014] The actuator is arranged on a surface of the latch disk facing the rotor along the circumferential direction of the latch disk and can rotate the latch disk in different directions based on whether or not current is supplied.
[0015] In addition, the device may further include a permanent magnet unit that is positioned opposite the rotor with the stator interposed therebetween and provides a magnetic force between the rotor and the stator when the rotor and the stator are in contact.
[0016] The above permanent magnet unit can provide a magnetic force of attraction between the rotor and the stator to maintain contact between the rotor and the stator when the rotor and the stator are in contact.
[0017] Specific details of other embodiments are included in the detailed description and drawings.
[0018] The effects of the brake assembly for a motor according to the present invention are as follows.
[0019] First, by including a latch disc, a latch bar, and an actuator that provide traction to the stator so that the stator selectively contacts the rotor to provide static friction to the rotor, a braking force capable of stopping the rotational motion of the rotor can be provided.
[0020] Second, when the supply of current is cut off due to a power outage during the rotation of the rotor, the latch disk can be rotated to pull the stator to a position where it comes into contact with the rotor, thereby eliminating the risk of safety accidents that may occur during a power outage.

[0032] Before explaining, it is to be noted that the brake assembly for a motor according to embodiments of the present invention is described with the same drawing reference numerals for the same configuration.
[0033] And, it is to be noted in advance that the motor brake assembly according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention uses the same actuators as those of FIGS. 3 and 4, and the actuator of the motor brake assembly according to the third embodiment of the present invention is arranged on the plate surface of the latch disk.
[0034] <First and Second Embodiments>
[0035] FIG. 1 is a first operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a first embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a plan view of the motor brake assembly illustrated in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is a second operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a first embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 4 is a plan view of the motor brake assembly illustrated in FIG. 3, FIG. 5 is a first operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 6 is a second operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
[0036] As illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 6, the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention includes a latch disc (100), a latch bar (300), and an actuator (500). In addition, the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention further includes a permanent magnet unit (700). The motor brake assembly (10) provides braking force to the rotor (R) to stop rotational motion of the rotor (R), which is composed of a rotor (R), a rotational shaft (A), and a stator (S).
[0037] The latch disk (100) is disposed opposite the stator (S) along the rotation axis direction of the rotor (R) of the motor (M) with the rotor (R) interposed therebetween. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the latch disk (100) is disposed on the upper portion of the rotor (R) opposite the stator (S) with the rotor (R) interposed therebetween. On the other hand, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the latch disk (100) is disposed on the lower portion of the rotor (R) opposite the stator (S) with the rotor (R) interposed therebetween. That is, the latch disk (100) can be alternately or selectively disposed on the upper and lower portions of the rotor (R) when it is disposed opposite the stator (S) with the rotor (R) interposed therebetween.
[0038] The latch disc (100) rotates to pull the stator (S) so as to provide static friction to the rotor (R) that selectively rotates based on the operation of the actuator (500). The latch disc (100) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first embodiment of the present invention illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 4 is disposed on the upper portion of the rotor (R) and pulls the stator (S) toward the lower surface of the rotor (R) based on the operation of the actuator (500). The latch disc (100) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the second embodiment of the present invention is disposed on the lower portion of the rotor (R) as illustrated in FIGS. 5 and 6 and pulls the stator (S) toward the upper surface of the rotor (R) based on the operation of the actuator (500).
[0039] The latch bar (300) interconnects the stator (S) and the latch disk (100) and has a rotational axis transverse to the rotational axis of the latch disk (100) and rotates in conjunction with the rotational movement of the latch disk (100). The latch bar (300) selectively rotates between a first position where the rotor (R) and the stator (S) are not in contact based on the rotational movement of the latch disk (100) and a second position where the rotor (R) and the stator (S) are in contact and the stator (S) provides a static frictional force to the rotor (R). The latch bar (300) substantially pulls the stator (S) against the plate surface of the rotor (R) between the first position and the second position.
[0040] The actuator (500) is connected to the latch disk (100) and rotates the latch disk (100) based on whether current is supplied. As illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 4, the actuator (500) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first embodiment of the present invention is arranged on the side of the latch disk (100) disposed at the top, and as illustrated in FIGS. 5 and 6, the actuator (500) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the second embodiment of the present invention is arranged on the side of the latch disk (100) disposed at the bottom. Here, at least three actuators (500) are arranged at a constant interval along the circumferential direction of the side of the latch disk (100), as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4.
[0041] The actuator (500) includes a valve body (520) and a rod (540). The valve body (520) constitutes a circuit to which current is supplied. The rod (540) is accommodated in the valve body (520) and connected to a latch disc (100).
[0042] A rod (540) is received in the valve body (520) and connected to the latch disc (100). The rod (540) is linearly moved between a first position where the rotor (R) rotates and the stator (S) is not in contact with the rotor (R) based on whether current is supplied, and a second position where the rotor (R) and the stator (S) are in contact and provide static friction to the rotor (R). The rod (540) includes a first rod (542) and a second rod (544), as one embodiment of the present invention.
[0043] The first rod (542) is accommodated in the valve body (520) and moves linearly in extension with respect to the valve body (520) when current is supplied to the valve body (520) and when the current supplied to the valve body (520) is cut off. The second rod (544) interconnects the first rod (542) and the latch disc (100). Unlike the first rod (542), the second rod (544) does not move linearly in extension, but rather interconnects the first rod (542) and the latch disc (100) in a link manner so as to satisfy the kinematic conditions.
[0044] When current is supplied to the actuator (500), the rod (540) is linearly moved to extend so that the latch bar (300) pulls the stator (S) to the first position, as shown in FIGS. 1, 3, and 5. Specifically, when current is supplied to the actuator (500), the first rod (542) is linearly moved to extend so that the rotor (R) and the stator (S) are spaced apart from each other so that the rotor (R) rotates, thereby providing an operating force to the latch disc (100) and the latch bar (300).
[0045] Meanwhile, the actuator (500) causes the rod (540) to retract linearly move so that the latch bar (300) pulls the stator (S) to the second position as shown in FIGS. 2, 4, and 6 when the supply of current is cut off. Specifically, the actuator (500) operates to provide static frictional force to the rotor (R) to brake the rotor (R) when the supply of current is cut off, for example, when a power outage occurs. More specifically, the actuator (500) causes the first rod (542) to retract linearly move so that the latch bar (300) rotates the latch disc (100) counterclockwise so that the stator (S) contacts the rotor (R), as shown in FIG. 4.
[0046] As described above, when the supply of current is cut off, such as during a power outage, the actuator (500) can accurately and quickly provide braking force to the rotor (R) by rotating the latch disc (100) so that the latch bar (300) pulls the stator (S) to bring the stator (S) and rotor (R) into contact.
[0047] The permanent magnet unit (700) is disposed opposite the rotor (R) with the stator (S) in between, and provides a magnetic force between the rotor (R) and the stator (S) when the rotor (R) and the stator (S) are in contact. In detail, the permanent magnet unit (700) is disposed on the plate surface of the stator (S) and generates an attractive magnetic field between the rotor (R) and the stator (S) when the stator (S) is in contact with the rotor (R). That is, the permanent magnet unit (700) can bring the rotor (R) and the stator (S) into contact more quickly by the attractive magnetic field when the latch bar (300) pulls the stator (S) to provide static frictional force of the rotor (R) during the rotational movement of the rotor (R), and can also improve the contact maintenance force between the rotor (R) and the stator (S) when the rotor (R) and the stator (S) are in contact.
[0048] <Example 3>
[0049] FIG. 7 is a first operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a third embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 8 is a plan view of the motor brake assembly illustrated in FIG. 7, FIG. 9 is a second operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a third embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 10 is a plan view of the motor brake assembly illustrated in FIG. 9.
[0050] The motor brake assembly (10) according to the third embodiment of the present invention is illustrated and described as being positioned on the upper side of the rotor (R) in the same manner as the latch disk (100) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first embodiment of the present invention, but is not limited thereto and may be used by being positioned on the lower side of the rotor (R) in the same manner as the latch disk (100) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the second embodiment of the present invention.
[0051] A brake assembly (10) for a motor according to a third embodiment of the present invention includes a latch disc (100), a latch bar (300), an actuator (500), and a permanent magnet unit (700), as shown in FIGS. 7 to 10.
[0052] The latch disk (100), latch bar (300), and permanent magnet unit (700) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the third embodiment of the present invention are identical to the latch disk (100), latch bar (300), and permanent magnet unit (700) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention described above, and therefore, a detailed description thereof will be omitted below.
[0053] The actuator (500) includes a valve body (520) and a rod (540). The rod (540) includes a first rod (542) that is accommodated in the valve body (520) and moves linearly in a flexible manner depending on whether current is supplied, and a second rod (544) that interconnects the first rod (542) and the latch disk (100) and functions as a link.
[0054] The actuator (500) operates in the same manner as the actuator (500) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention to selectively pull the stator (S) into and out of contact with the rotor (R) by the latch bar (300) to rotate the latch disc (100). However, the actuator (500) is not disposed on the side along the circumference of the latch disc (100) as shown in FIGS. 7 to 10, but is disposed on the plate surface of the latch disc (100). Here, as one embodiment of the present invention, the actuator (500) is disposed on the upper surface of the latch disc (100) disposed on the upper portion of the rotor (R), but may be disposed on the lower surface of the latch disc (100) when the latch disc (100) is disposed on the lower portion of the rotor (R).
[0055] Accordingly, by including a latch disc, a latch bar, and an actuator that provide traction to the stator so that the stator selectively contacts the rotor to provide static friction to the rotor, a braking force capable of stopping the rotational motion of the rotor can be provided.
[0056] In addition, when the supply of current is cut off due to a power outage during the rotation of the rotor, the latch disk can be rotated to pull the stator to a position where it comes into contact with the rotor, thereby eliminating the risk of a safety accident that may occur during a power outage.
[0057] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described with reference to the attached drawings, those skilled in the art will understand that the present invention can be implemented in other specific forms without changing the technical spirit or essential features thereof. Therefore, it should be understood that the embodiments described above are exemplary in all respects and not restrictive. The scope of the present invention is indicated by the claims described below rather than the detailed description above, and all changes or modifications derived from the meaning and scope of the claims and their equivalents should be interpreted as being included in the scope of the present invention.
