[0076] Fig. 8 is an assembled perspective view showing the configuration of the right side of the main unit 3. Fig. 9 is an exploded perspective view showing the configuration of the right side of the main unit 3. The main unit 3 also has a similar configuration on the left side.
[0077] As shown in FIG. 8 , a game device-side recess 310 is provided on the main body right side surface 313 of the main body 3. The game device-side recess 310 is a recessed portion on the main body right side surface 313. The game device-side recess 310 has a game device-side bottom surface 3121 and a game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 that surrounds the game device-side bottom surface 3121. In this embodiment, the portion of the main body housing 306 that forms the right side surface of the main body 3 is recessed, thereby forming the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 and a base surface (base surface 311 described below) that serves as the base of the bottom surface. A cover member 338 is placed on the base surface, and the surface of the cover member 338 forms the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device-side recess 310. The cover member 338 may be omitted, in which case the bottom surface formed by the main body housing 306 becomes the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device-side recess 310.
[0078] As shown in FIG. 8 , the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device-side recess 310 extends in the longitudinal direction of the main unit right side surface 313. The front side edge and the rear side edge of the game device-side bottom surface 3121 are each substantially straight and extend substantially parallel. In this embodiment, the upper and lower regions of the game device-side bottom surface 3121 each narrow in width toward the end. More specifically, the upper and lower regions of the game device-side bottom surface 3121 narrow in width in a curved manner. Note that the upper and lower regions of the game device-side bottom surface 3121 may narrow in width in a linear manner. Alternatively, the upper and lower regions of the game device-side bottom surface 3121 may have a constant width. Alternatively, only one of the upper and lower regions of the game device-side bottom surface 3121 may narrow in width toward the end.
[0079] As shown in FIG. 9 , the main unit 3 includes a first plug connector 330, a cover member 338, a pair of shoulder screws 334, and two game device magnetic elements 410, 420 arranged along the longitudinal direction of the game device recess 310. The first game device magnetic element 410 is located on the upper side, and the second game device magnetic element 420 is located on the lower side. The first game device magnetic element 410 is located in an area above the longitudinal center of the main unit right side surface 313, and the second game device magnetic element 420 is located in a lower area. The game device magnetic elements 410, 420 each include a magnet and a yoke that sandwiches the magnet. The game device magnetic elements 410, 420 do not necessarily need to include a yoke. Both game device magnetic elements 410, 420 may be located in the upper or lower areas.
[0080] As shown in FIG. 9 , the portion of the main body housing 306 that forms the right side surface is recessed to form the base surface 311, which serves as the base for the bottom surface of the game device-side recess 310, and the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120. As described above, the surface of the cover member 338 placed on the base surface 311 forms the game device-side bottom surface 3121. The shape of the base surface 311 and the shape of the cover member 338 are substantially the same. In this embodiment, the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 surrounds the entire periphery of the base surface 311, but this does not have to be the case. The game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 is continuous with the base surface 311 and the main body right side surface 313. The upper end of the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 (the right end portion in the main body 3) is connected to the main body right side surface 313. From another perspective, the game device-side recess 310 is recessed further than the main body right side surface 313.
[0081] The base surface 311 has a first hole 401 and a second hole 402 for accommodating the game device magnetic elements 410, 420. The first hole 401 and the second hole 402 are aligned in the longitudinal direction of the main body right side surface 313. That is, the first hole 401 and the second hole 402 are aligned in the longitudinal direction of the base surface 311. As will be described in detail later, the first game controller 1 also has magnetic elements, and the magnetic elements on the first game controller 1 are attracted to the game device magnetic elements 410, 420, thereby attaching the game controller to the main body 3. When all or part of the game device magnetic elements 410, 420 enter the holes 401, 402 from inside the main body housing 306, the distance between the magnetic elements on the first game controller 1 attached to the main body 3 and the game device magnetic elements 410, 420 is reduced, thereby increasing the magnetic force of attraction.
[0082] The first game device magnetic element 410, the second game device magnetic element 420, the first hole 401, and the second hole 402 are covered by the cover member 338. That is, the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 are covered by the cover member 338 that constitutes the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device recess 310. In this embodiment, the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 are provided at the bottom of the game device recess 310, and the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 are embedded in the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device recess 310 by the cover member 338. As an alternative to providing the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 at the bottom of the game device recess 310, the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 may be disposed on the game device side bottom surface 3121 of the game device recess 310. Alternatively, the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 may be disposed in an exposed manner on the surface or in a recessed position of a hole provided in the game device side bottom surface 3121 of the game device recess 310.
[0083] The second game device magnetic element 420 has the same configuration as the first game device magnetic element 410. Similarly to the first game device magnetic element 410, the second game device magnetic element 420 is partially housed in the second hole 402.
[0084] 9, the first plug connector 330 has a support portion 333, a first tongue body 332 protruding from the support portion 333, and a main body first terminal 331 provided along the surface of the first tongue body 332. The support portion 333 and the first tongue body 332 may be integral or separate.
[0085] The first plug connector 330 is disposed between the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 in the longitudinal direction of the main body right side surface 313, as viewed from the bottom of the game device recess 310. Therefore, the main body first terminal 331 is disposed between the first game device magnetic element 410 and the second game device magnetic element 420 in the longitudinal direction of the main body right side surface 313. Furthermore, the tip of the first tongue 332 (the right end of the first tongue 332) does not protrude from the game device recess 310. In other words, the first tongue 332 does not protrude outward from the main body right side surface 313, but is disposed within the game device recess 310. Therefore, the main body first terminal 331 disposed on the first tongue 332 is also disposed within the game device recess 310. Note that in another aspect, the first tongue 332 and the main body first terminal 331 may protrude higher than the main body right side surface 313.
[0086] The first plug connector 330 is attached to the base surface 311 by a set of shoulder screws 334. By attaching the first plug connector 330 to the base surface 311 using the set of shoulder screws 334, the first plug connector 330 can move slightly relative to the base surface 311. In other words, the first plug connector 330 is a floating connector. Because the first plug connector 330 is a floating connector, it is easy to maintain the connector connection even if the first game controller attached to the main unit 3 moves slightly relative to the main unit 3. The first plug connector 330 may be freely movable around the axial direction of the shoulder screws 334, or may be movable in the axial direction. The set of shoulder screws 334 and the support portion 333 are covered by a cover member 338. The first tongue body 332 and the main unit first terminal 331 are exposed by passing through a through hole 337 provided in the cover member 338.
[0087] <Controller>
[0088] FIG. 10 is a schematic diagram showing six sides of the configuration of the first game controller 1. As shown in FIG.
[0089] As shown in FIG. 10 , the first game controller 1 of this embodiment includes, on its front surface, a joystick 31 (an example of a directional input unit), a set of four buttons 32 arranged in a cross shape, a + button 33(1), and a home button 33(2). The first game controller 1 also includes a top button (right) 110 (hereinafter also referred to as the first button 110), a top button (left) 120 (hereinafter also referred to as the second button 120), a synchronization button 50, a shoulder button (right) 130, and a Z shoulder button (right) 140. As will be described in detail below, the top button (right) 110, the top button (left) 120, and the synchronization button 50 are provided on the protrusion 100. These are examples of input units, and not all of them need to be included. The first game controller 1 may also include other input units, such as a touchpad or a pressure sensor, instead of or in addition to these input units.
[0090] When the first game controller 1 is attached to the main unit 3, operation information from the input unit is transmitted to the main unit first terminal 331 of the main unit 3 through the first terminal 160 (described later), and the information is processed by the CPU of the main unit 3 according to a program. In a usage mode in which the game controller is not attached to the main unit 3, operation information from the input unit is transmitted to the CPU of the main unit 3 via a wireless chip provided in the game controller and a wireless chip provided in the main unit 3. The game device does not need to have the first terminal 160 and the main unit first terminal 331, in which case information is transmitted via the wireless chip even when the game controller is attached to the main unit 3.
[0091] 10 , the first game controller 1 has a front side 15, a rear side 16, an upper side 11, a right side 12, a lower side 13, and a left side 14. The front side 15 is the side that faces the user using the first game controller 1 when the first game controller 1 is held in a united grip state, a horizontally held state, or a vertically held state. The rear side 16 is located on the opposite side of the front side 15. The front side 15 and the rear side 16 are connected to the upper side 11, the right side 12, the lower side 13, and the left side 14, respectively.
[0092] The normal direction of the upper surface 11 is also referred to as the first direction R1. The first direction R1 is the direction in which the convex portion 100 protrudes, and is also referred to as the upper side, convex direction, or upward direction. The convex portion 100 is located on the first direction R1 side of the upper surface 11. The direction opposite to the first direction R1 is also referred to as the third direction R3. The third direction R3 is also referred to as the lower side or downward direction. The first direction R1 and the third direction R3 are collectively referred to as the up-down direction.
[0093] The direction perpendicular to the up-down direction and toward the right side surface 12 is also referred to as the second direction R2. The second direction R2 is also referred to as the right side or rightward direction. The direction opposite the second direction R2 is also referred to as the fourth direction R4. The fourth direction R4 is also referred to as the left side or leftward direction. The second direction R2 and the fourth direction R4 are collectively referred to as the left-right direction.
[0094] The normal direction of the front surface 15 is also referred to as the fifth direction R5. The fifth direction R5 is also referred to as the front side or front direction. The direction opposite to the fifth direction is also referred to as the sixth direction R6. The sixth direction R6 is also referred to as the rear side or rear direction. The fifth direction R5 and the sixth direction R6 are collectively referred to as the front-to-rear direction.
[0095] As described above, the upper side surface 11 is located on the upward side of the front surface. The upper side surface 11 is a side surface that extends in the longitudinal direction of the front surface 15. In this embodiment, the longitudinal direction of the front surface 15 is the left-right direction of the front surface 15. The upper side surface 11 extends in the left-right direction. The lower side surface 13 is located opposite the upper side surface 11. The lower side surface 13 is on the third direction R3 side of the upper side surface 11. The right side surface 12 is connected to the right end of the upper side surface 11 and extends in a direction away from the upper side surface 11. The end of the right side surface far from the upper side surface 11 is connected to the right end of the lower side surface 13. The left side surface 14 is connected to the left end of the upper side surface 11 and extends in a direction away from the upper side surface 11. The end of the left side surface far from the upper side surface 11 is connected to the left end of the lower side surface 13. The right side surface is on the second direction R2 side of the left side surface.
[0096] 10 , the front surface 15 of the first game controller is provided with, from right to left, a + button 33(1), a set of four buttons 32, a joystick 31, and a home button 33(2). The set of four buttons 32 and the joystick 31 are adjacent to each other. In the vertical direction, the joystick 31 is located between the upper and lower buttons of the set of four buttons 32. In the horizontal direction, the joystick 31 is located approximately on an extension of a straight line connecting the right button and the left button of the set of four buttons 32.
[0097] The joystick 31 can be tilted in 360 degrees, and may be tilted in any direction including the first direction R1 to the fourth direction R4. The joystick 31 may be tiltable in only some directions. The joystick 31 may be pushable. Instead of tilting, the joystick 31 may be slidable in each direction. The main unit 3 may perform processing in accordance with a signal indicating the operation direction in a program executed in response to a user's operation of the joystick 31. Note that the game controller may have another input unit as a direction input unit instead of or in addition to the joystick 31. For example, it may have a cross key or a set of buttons.
[0098] In the executed program, the main unit 3 may perform a corresponding predetermined process based on the pressing of the + button 33(1) and the set of four buttons 32. The main unit 3 may call up a home menu in response to an input to the home button 33(2).
[0099] The right shoulder button 130 is a button that is used, for example, in the integrated holding state, and is a button that is located in the upper right portion of the first game controller 1 in the integrated holding state. The right shoulder button 130 may also be used in the vertical holding state. The right shoulder button 130 has a curved operation surface. The right shoulder button 130 extends in a direction away from the upper surface 11. The right shoulder button 130 is located approximately in a portion that would be the lower right portion of the first game controller 1 in the horizontal holding state. At least a portion of the right shoulder button 130 may be located on the right surface 12. The operation surface of the right shoulder button 130 curves approximately along the lower right portion of the first game controller 1. The main unit 3 performs a predetermined process in an executed program based on the pressing of the right shoulder button.
[0100] The right Z shoulder button 140 is a button used, for example, in a united grip state, and is provided on the back side of the right shoulder button 130. The right Z shoulder button 140 may also be used in a vertically held state. The right Z shoulder button 140 has a curved operation surface. The right shoulder button 130 extends in a direction away from the upper surface 11. The right Z shoulder button 140 is provided approximately in a portion that would be the lower right of the first game controller 1 when held horizontally. At least a portion of the right Z shoulder button 140 may be provided on the right surface 12. At least a portion of the right Z shoulder button 140 may be provided on the back surface 16. The operation surface of the right Z shoulder button 140 curves approximately along the lower right portion of the first game controller 1. Note that the entire right Z shoulder button 140 may be provided on the back surface. The main unit 3 performs a predetermined process in an executed program based on the pressing of the right Z shoulder button 140.
[0101] Fig. 11 is a schematic perspective view showing the configuration of the first game controller 1. Fig. 12 is an exploded schematic perspective view including the protrusion 100.
[0102] As shown in FIG. 11, in addition to the components already described, the first game controller 1 has a light-emitting unit 150 that notifies the identification number of the game controller, a first terminal 160 that is connected to the main body first terminal 331 of the main body device 3, a first cushion 191, a second cushion 192, and an operating unit 182 that constitutes a removal mechanism for removing the convex portion 100 from the main body device 3.
[0103] As shown in FIG. 11 , the protrusion 100 protrudes upward from the upper surface 11. From another perspective, the protrusion 100 protrudes from the upper surface 11 in the first direction R1. The protrusion 100 extends along the longitudinal direction of the upper surface 11 (i.e., its length in the longitudinal direction is longer than that in other directions). Note that the protrusion 100 does not have to extend in a direction that strictly coincides with the longitudinal direction of the upper surface 11, as long as it extends along the longitudinal direction. In other words, the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100 is aligned with the longitudinal direction of the upper surface 11. Note that the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100 does not have to strictly coincide with the longitudinal direction of the upper surface 11. The protrusion 100 is an elongated protrusion that extends in the longitudinal direction of the upper surface 11. Note that the protrusion 200 of the second game controller 2 also has a configuration similar to the protrusion 100. The following description will focus on the configuration of the protrusion 100 of the first game controller 1.
[0104] The protrusion 100 has a top surface (hereinafter also referred to as the top surface 106) and a peripheral surface (hereinafter also referred to as the outer peripheral surface 107) extending downward from the top surface. The top surface 106 is spaced apart from the upper side surface 11. The outer peripheral surface 107 is provided between the top surface 106 and the upper side surface 11 and extends from the top surface 106 to the upper side surface 11. The outer peripheral surface 107 is continuous with the top surface 106 so as to surround the outer edge of the top surface 106. The top surface 106 extends along the longitudinal direction of the upper side surface 11. When viewed from the direction of the top surface 106, the protrusion 100 extends along the longitudinal direction of the upper side surface 11. The length of the top surface 106 in the left-right direction is longer than the length of the top surface 106 in the front-to-back direction. The surface of the top surface 106 may or may not be flat, for example, by embossing.
[0105] In this embodiment, the convex portion 100 has a truncated pyramid shape whose cross section becomes smaller toward the top surface 106. As will be described later, the end regions in the longitudinal direction may be rounded. From another perspective, when the convex portion 100 is viewed from the top surface 106 side (i.e., from above), the top surface 106 and the outer peripheral surface 107 surrounding the top surface 106 are visible. The shape of the convex portion 100 is not limited to a truncated pyramid. As an example, the convex portion 100 may be a truncated cone or a rectangular parallelepiped.
[0106] The left-right length of the protrusion 100 (i.e., the longitudinal length of the protrusion 100) may be, for example, two or more times the front-to-rear length of the protrusion 100, or five or more times the front-to-rear length of the protrusion 100. The left-to-right length of the protrusion 100 may be, for example, 50% or more of the left-to-right length of the upper surface 11, or 70% or more of the left-to-rear length of the protrusion 100. The left-to-right length of the protrusion 100 may be, for example, 25 times or less, or 15 times or less of the front-to-rear length of the protrusion 100.
[0107] By increasing the horizontal length of the protrusion 100, the horizontal length of the top surface (operation surface) of the upper button (right) 110 and the upper button (left) 120 can be increased, improving operability. It also becomes easy to arrange the first cushion 191, the second cushion 192, etc. on the top surface of the protrusion 100.
[0108] 11 , the protrusion 100 is sandwiched between the front housing 61 and the rear housing 62 that make up the controller housing 10. The upper surface 11 is provided with a housing opening 17 that is formed by the end face of the front housing 61 and the end face of the rear housing 62. The protrusion 100 protrudes from inside the controller housing 10, passing through the housing opening 17.
[0109] As shown in FIG. 12 , the protrusion 100 has a protrusion flange 19. The protrusion flange 19 extends outward (more specifically, in the left-right and front-rear directions) from the lower end of the wall that constitutes the outer circumferential surface 107. The region of the protrusion 100 above the protrusion flange 19 is exposed from the housing opening 17. The lower region of the protrusion 100, including the protrusion flange 19, is located inside the controller housing 10. The protrusion flange 19 functions to prevent the protrusion 100 from coming off. Note that in another aspect, the protrusion 100 may be composed of multiple components. Also, in another aspect, the protrusion 100 may be part of the controller housing 10. For example, the protrusion 100 may be formed by at least one of the front housing 61 and the rear housing 62.
[0110] The protrusion 100 is configured to fit into the game device recess 310 from the front side of the recess (toward the right side of the main unit 3). The shape of the protrusion 100 is configured to match the shape of the game device recess 310. From another perspective, the top surface 106 and outer peripheral surface 107 of the protrusion are compatible with the shapes of the game device bottom surface 3121 and game device inner peripheral surface 3120 of the game device recess 310. When the first game controller 1 is attached to the main unit 3, the top surface 106 abuts against or faces closely to the game device bottom surface 3121, and the outer peripheral surface 107 abuts against or faces closely to the game device inner peripheral surface 3120. Therefore, for example, when a user attaches the first game controller 1 to the main unit 3, the first game controller 1 is guided to an appropriate attachment position. Furthermore, for example, the first game controller 1 attached to the main unit 3 is prevented from shifting in the up-down or front-back direction of the main unit 3. As an example, even if a force is applied to the game controller in the forward / backward or upward / downward direction in response to a user's operation input when held together, the game controller is prevented from shifting significantly in position relative to the main unit 3.
[0111] 10 to 12 , the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100 has a first engagement hole 193 and a second engagement hole 194 on each of its longitudinal end faces. The first engagement hole 193 is provided on the first end face of the convex portion 100. The second engagement hole 194 is provided on the second end face of the convex portion 100. The shape of the first engagement hole 193 is different from the shape of the second engagement hole 194. The length of the first engagement hole 193 may be different from the length of the second engagement hole 194 in the front-rear direction. The length of the first engagement hole 193 may be different from the length of the second engagement hole 194 in the up-down direction.
[0112] As shown in FIGS. 11 and 12 , the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 are provided on the convex portion 100. The top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 are buttons that are pressed by the user and move downward when pressed. A ground connection portion 51 is connected to the underside of the top surface button (right) 110. A tactile switch 117 is provided below the top surface button (right) 110. When the top surface button (right) 110 moves downward when pressed by the user, the tactile switch 117 is pressed by the top surface button (right) 110. The top surface button (right) 110 and the tactile switch 117 form a button switch. The top surface button (left) 120 and the tactile switch 127 form a button switch.
[0113] The top surface button (right) 110 is exposed from a first opening 197 provided in the top surface 106. The exposed portions of the top surface buttons 110 and 120 (110 and 120 in FIG. 10 ) form operation units that are pressed by the user. A ground connection unit 53 is connected to the underside of the top surface button (left) 120. A tactile switch 127 is provided on the underside of the top surface button (left) 120. The tactile switch 127 is pressed by the top surface button (right) 120. The on signals of the tactile switches 117 and 127 are transmitted to the main unit 3, and a program that is executed performs processing in response to the pressing of the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (right) 120.
[0114] The synchronization button 50 is provided on the protrusion 100. The synchronization button 50 is pressed by the user. The synchronization button 50 is provided between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 in the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100. More specifically, the synchronization button 50 is provided between the first terminal 160 and the top surface button (left) 120 in the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100. The synchronization button 50 may be used to instruct setting processing related to wireless communication between the first game controller 1 and the main unit 3.
[0115] The first game controller 1 has a terminal accommodating portion 167. The first terminal 160 is provided along the inner circumferential surface of the terminal accommodating portion 167. The first terminal 160 extends in the up-down direction. A terminal opening 196 is provided in the top surface 106. The terminal accommodating portion 167 communicates with the terminal opening 196. In other words, the terminal accommodating portion 167 opens into the top surface 106. Therefore, the first terminal 160 is accessible from outside the top surface 106.
[0116] The terminal opening 196 is provided on the top surface 106 between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120. Therefore, the terminal accommodating portion 167 opens on the top surface 106 between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120. The first terminal 160 is provided between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. Note that it is sufficient that at least a portion of the first terminal 160 is between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 in the left-right direction, and it is not necessary that the first terminal 160 is between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 in the front-rear direction or the up-down direction. From another perspective, the terminal is provided between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 when viewed from the direction of the top surface of the convex portion 100. The first terminal 160 is provided inside the convex portion 100. The first terminal 160 is arranged so that, in the protruding direction of the convex portion 100, at least its upper end is below the top surface 106 or lower than the top surface 106. The upper end of the first terminal 160 may be provided between the top surface 106 and the upper side surface 11. The lower end of the first terminal 160 may be arranged below the upper side surface 11, i.e., inside the controller housing 10.
[0117] The light-emitting unit 150 is provided on the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100. More specifically, the light-emitting unit 150 is provided on the front side of the outer peripheral surface 107. From another perspective, the area of the outer peripheral surface 107 where the light-emitting unit 150 is provided faces the front side. When the user looks at the front surface 15 of the first game controller 1, the user can see the light from the light-emitting unit 150. The light-emitting unit 150 typically emits light emitted by an LED to the outside.
[0118] The light-emitting unit 150 can notify the user of predetermined information. When the main unit 3 communicates with multiple game controllers, the light-emitting unit 150 may display information identifying each game controller to the user. The light-emitting unit 150 may display other information to the user. The number of light-emitting units 150 is not particularly limited, but is, for example, four. In this embodiment, the four light-emitting units 150 are arranged side by side in the left-right direction. For example, of the four light-emitting units 150, a portion or number of light-emitting units 150 may light up according to the identification number assigned to the game controller.
[0119] The light emitting portion 150 is provided between the top surface button (right) 110 and the top surface button (left) 120 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. The light emitting portion 150 is provided at a position overlapping the first terminal 160 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. From another perspective, the light emitting portion 150 is located below the terminal opening 196 when viewed from the front side.
[0120] A first cushion 191 and a second cushion 192 are placed on the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100. The height of the top surfaces of the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 from the upper side surface 11 is higher than the height of the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100 from the upper side surface 11. From another perspective, the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 increase the height of the top surface of the convex portion 100. Note that the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 may be omitted.
[0121] The game controller 1 may be placed so that the top surface of the protrusion 100 faces a ground surface such as a desk. In this case, the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 themselves contact the ground surface, thereby preventing the cushion-free portion of the top surface 106 of the protrusion 100 from directly contacting the ground surface. Furthermore, when the first game controller 1 is attached to the main unit 3, the top surfaces of the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 contact the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device-side recess 310.
[0122] With respect to the height from the upper surface 11, the height of the top surfaces of the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 is equal to or higher than the maximum height of the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100. From another perspective, the top surfaces of the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 are located at the uppermost positions on the first game controller 1. The shape of the first cushion 191 is not particularly limited and may be any shape, such as a circle, an oval, or a rectangle. The first cushion 191 may have a through hole. The shapes of the first cushion 191 and the second cushion 192 may be the same or different.
[0123] In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the first cushion 191 is located closer to the right side surface 12 than the top surface button (right) 110. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the top surface button (right) 110 is located between the first terminal 160 and the first cushion 191.
[0124] In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the second cushion 192 is located closer to the left side surface 14 than the top button (left) 120. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the top button (left) 120 is located between the first terminal 160 and the second cushion 192. More specifically, in the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the top button (left) 120 is located between the synchronization button 50 and the second cushion 192.
[0125] Figure 13 is a partial cross-sectional schematic view taken along line XIII-XIII in Figure 11. The structure of the top surface button (right) 110 and its surroundings will be described in detail below. In this embodiment, the structure of the top surface button (left) 120 and its surroundings is substantially symmetrical in the left-right direction to the structure of the top surface button (right) 110 and its surroundings.
[0126] As shown in FIG. 13 , the portion of the top button (right) 110 exposed from the top surface of the convex portion 100 forms an operation surface 115, which is the surface operated by the user. The top button (right) 110 has a main body 114 including the operation surface 115, a side wall 118, a flange 113, a first protrusion 111, and a second protrusion 112. The operation surface 115 extends along the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100 on the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100. In other words, the longitudinal direction of the operation surface 115 is the left-right direction. From another perspective, the longitudinal direction of the operation surface 115 coincides with the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100.
[0127] In this embodiment, the top button (right) 110 is a single component, and is made of a material that is not entirely magnetic but is attracted to a magnet. The material of the top button (right) 110 is not particularly limited, but may be made of a soft magnetic material. The material of the top button (right) 110 may be, for example, iron, or, as an example, cold-rolled steel plate (SPCC). The material of the top button (right) 110 may also contain iron. For example, the material of the top button (right) 110 may be, for example, iron with added silicon and / or nickel. Furthermore, the top button (right) 110 may be a single component in which resin is molded around a soft magnetic material.
[0128] In another embodiment, the top button (right) 110 may be made of a magnet, or may be made of a combination of a magnet and a soft magnetic material.
[0129] In another embodiment, only a portion of the top button (right) 110 may be made of a soft magnetic material or a magnet. In this case, at least the portion exposed from the top surface 106 of the protrusion 100 may be made of a soft magnetic material or a magnet. Also, at least the portion forming the operation surface 115 may be made of a soft magnetic material or a magnet.
[0130] The operation surface 115 is an operation surface of the top button (right) 110 that is exposed from the first opening 197 and is pressed by the user. The operation surface 115 faces the first direction R1. The operation surface 115 extends in the left-right direction. The length of the operation surface 115 in the left-right direction may be 10% or more, or 20% or more, of the length of the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100 in the left-right direction. Furthermore, the length of the operation surface 115 in the left-right direction may be 10% or more, or 20% or more, of the length of the upper side surface 11 of the convex portion 100 in the left-right direction.
[0131] 13, a tactile switch 117 is provided below the first protrusion 111. The tactile switch 117 is disposed on a flexible printed circuit 90 (hereinafter also referred to as FPC 90). The upper part of the tactile switch 117 is a leaf spring.
[0132] When the top button (right) 110 is not pressed by the user, the first protrusion 111 is supported from below by the tactile switch 117. When the top button (right) 110 is pressed by the user, the top button (right) 110 moves downward from its initial position. The first protrusion 111 of the top button (right) 110, which is moving downward, presses the upper part of the tactile switch 117. When pressed, the upper part of the tactile switch 117 deforms, sinking downward. This turns on a switch inside the tactile switch. When the user releases the top button (right) 110, the upper part of the tactile switch 117 returns to its original shape. The return of the shape of the upper part of the tactile switch 117 pushes the first protrusion 111 back upward. Therefore, the top button (right) 110 returns to its initial position. That is, when the top surface button (right) 110 is pressed, the tactile switch 117 is biased in the direction opposite to the pressing direction of the top surface button (right) 110. Note that the tactile switch 117 may also be biased in the direction opposite to the pressing direction of the top surface button (right) 110 when the top surface button (right) 110 is not pressed.
[0133] In another embodiment, the top button (right) 110 may be biased upward by a biasing body such as a spring. That is, the top button (right) 110 may be biased upward by a biasing body such as a spring and separated from the tactile switch 117 at least when pressed by the user (which may also include when not pressed by the user). In another embodiment, a rubber switch may be used instead of the tactile switch 117.
[0134] The second protrusions 112 protrude from the rear surface of the main body 114 in the third direction R3. The number of second protrusions 112 is not particularly limited. In this embodiment, two second protrusions 112 are provided, one on each side of the first protrusion 111 in the left-right direction. A ground electrode is provided below the second protrusions 112 on the FPC 90. A ground connection portion 51 is provided between the second protrusions 112 and the ground electrode in the up-down direction. The ground connection portion 51 is conductive. The shape and material of the ground connection portion 51 are not particularly limited, but in this embodiment, it is an iron coil spring. The upper end of the ground connection portion 51 contacts the rear surface of the main body 114 and is electrically connected to the main body. The lower end of the second protrusion 112 is surrounded by the ground connection portion 51, which is a coil spring. The lower end of the ground connection portion 51 contacts the ground electrode.
[0135] In this embodiment, the top button (right) 110 is a soft magnetic material, such as iron, which is conductive. Therefore, if a charged object comes into contact with the top button (right) 110, the potential of the top button (right) 110 changes, which could affect the convex portion 100 and the internal electronic components of the controller housing 10. However, in this embodiment, the potential of the top button (right) 110 is set to ground potential because the top button (right) 110 is electrically connected to a ground electrode by the ground connection portion 51. Therefore, even if a charged object comes into contact with the top button (right) 110, the possibility of affecting the internal electronic components is reduced.
[0136] In this embodiment, the ground connection portion 51 is a compressed coil spring, and therefore the right top button 110 is biased upward by the coil spring. In this embodiment, the biasing force of the coil spring is small, and therefore the right top button 110 is in contact with the top of the tactile switch 117 in the initial position. In another aspect, the right top button 110 may be separated from the tactile switch 117 in the initial position by the biasing force of the coil spring that is the ground connection portion 51. In another aspect, the first game controller 1 does not need to have a ground connection portion 51.
[0137] As shown in FIGS. 12 and 13 , the top button (right) 110 has a main body 114 whose surface constitutes the operation surface, a side wall 118 extending from the underside of the main body 114, and a flange 113 extending outward from the side wall 118. The side wall 118 extends into the protrusion 100 through a first opening 197. The flange 113 extends outward from the side wall 118 inside the protrusion 100. The flange may also extend outward from the lower end of the side wall 118. The flange 113 has a flange portion that protrudes rightward from the right end of the side wall 118 and a flange portion that extends leftward from the left end of the side wall 118. The upper surface of the flange 113 faces a portion of the internal surface of the protrusion 100 (hereinafter referred to as the first inner surface 71) in the direction opposite to the pressing direction of the top button (right) 110. The first inner surface 71 does not have to be the inner surface of the protrusion 100 itself. The upper surface of the flange 113 is located in the pressing direction of the top surface button (right) 110 relative to the first inner surface 71. Therefore, the flange 113 has the function of preventing the top surface button (right) 110 from coming off by directly or indirectly getting caught on the first inner surface 71.
[0138] Additionally, the outer peripheral surface of the side wall 118 faces a part of the inner surface of the protrusion 100 (hereinafter referred to as the second inner surface 72) in the left-right direction. Note that the second inner surface 72 does not have to be the inner surface of the protrusion 100 itself. The outer peripheral surface of the side wall 118 is positioned relative to the second inner surface 72 in a direction perpendicular to the pressing direction of the top surface button (right) 110.
[0139] The first game controller 1 has a first elastically deformable body 52 between the upper surface of the flange 113 and the first inner surface 71. The first elastically deformable body 52 elastically deforms when a force is applied thereto and elastically returns to its original shape when the force is removed. The material of the first elastically deformable body 52 is not particularly limited, but may be, for example, rubber.
[0140] The first elastic deformation body 52 may be fixed to the first inner surface 71. The first elastic deformation body 52 may be fixed to the first inner surface 71 using, for example, an adhesive, or may be fixed to the first inner surface 71 by being fitted into a hole formed in the first inner surface 71.
[0141] When the top surface button (right) 110 is in the initial position, the first elastic deformation body 52 is in contact with the first inner surface 71 and the flange 113. At this time, the top surface button (right) 110 may be maintained in the initial position by a balance between the biasing force in the direction opposite to the pressing direction by the tact switch 117 or the ground connection part 51 and the biasing force in the pressing direction by the first elastic deformation body 52. Note that when the top surface button (right) 110 is in the initial position, the first elastic deformation body 52 may be in contact with only one of the first inner surface 71 and the flange 113, or may not be in contact with both.
[0142] The first elastic deformation body 52 is provided between the outer peripheral surface of the side wall 118 and the second inner surface 72 in the left-right direction, on the side closer to the second inner surface 72. The first elastic deformation body 52 is spaced apart from the side wall 118. The first elastic deformation body 52 may be in contact with the second inner surface 72. The first elastic deformation body 52 may also be spaced apart from the second inner surface 72. In this case, the distance between the second inner surface 72 and the first elastic deformation body 52 in the left-right direction is smaller than the distance between the side wall 118 and the first elastic deformation body 52. In another aspect, the first elastic deformation body 52 may be provided on the side closer to the side wall 118.
[0143] When the first game controller 1 is attached to the main unit 3, the top button (right) 110 is attracted to the first game device magnetic element 410. Figure 14 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the state in which the top button (right) 110 is attracted to the first game device magnetic element 410.
[0144] As shown in FIG. 14 , when the first game controller 1 is attached to the main unit 3, the right top button 110 and the first game device magnetic element 410 face each other. In this embodiment, the right top button 110 is made of a soft magnetic material. Therefore, when the right top button 110 approaches the right top button 110, the right top button 110 is attracted to the right top button 110 by the magnetic force of the first game device magnetic element 410. This applies a force to the right top button 110 in a direction opposite to the pressing direction. At this time, the first elastic deformation body 52 provided between the flange 113 and the first inner surface 71 is pressed toward the first inner surface 71 by the flange 113, and elastically deforms to contract in a direction opposite to the pressing direction. As a result, the right top button 110 moves in a direction opposite to the pressing direction. That is, the right top button 110 moves in a direction opposite to the pressing direction from an initial position, which is the position when the right top button 110 is not pressed by the user. The pressing direction is, for example, the third direction R3, and the direction opposite to the pressing direction is, for example, the first direction R1.
[0145] The top surface button (left) 120 has a configuration similar to that of the top surface button (right) 110. A tactile switch 127 is provided below the top surface button (left) 120, and when the top surface button (left) 120 is pressed, the tactile switch 127 biases the top surface button (left) 120 in a direction opposite to the pressing direction. The top surface button (left) 120 has a main body 124, a side wall 128, and a flange 123 (see FIG. 16 ). The second elastic deformation body 54 is disposed between the upper surface of the flange 123 and the first inner surface 73. The second elastic deformation body 54 may be fixed to the first inner surface 73. The second elastic deformation body 54 may be provided between the outer peripheral surface of the side wall 128 and the second inner surface 74, closer to the second inner surface 74, in the left-right direction.
[0146] 15 is a schematic plan view showing the configuration of the first elastic deformation body 52 when viewed from inside the convex portion 100 toward the top surface 106. The first elastic deformation body 52 and the convex portion 100 are shown in FIG. 15. The first elastic deformation body 52 has a first elastic portion 52a and a second elastic portion 52b. The second elastic portion 52b is spaced apart from the first elastic portion 52a. In the left-right direction, the first elastic portion 52a is located on the second direction R2 side of the first opening 197. In the left-right direction, the second elastic portion 52b is located on the fourth direction R4 side of the first opening 197.
[0147] A portion of the first elastic deformation body 52 protrudes from the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100. Specifically, the first elastic portion 52a is provided so as to protrude from the inside to the outside of the convex portion 100 through an opening formed in the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100. The second elastic portion 52b may be provided inside the convex portion 100 and not protrude to the outside. Note that the opening through which the first elastic deformation body 52 protrudes may be formed in the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100 by a notch formed in the convex portion 100 and the upper side surface 11.
[0148] The first elastic portion 52a has a first elastic region 52c and a second elastic region 52d. In the up-down direction, the first elastic region 52c is located lower than the second elastic region 52d. In the left-right direction, the first elastic region 52c may be located closer to the second direction R2 than the second elastic region 52d. A portion of the first elastic region 52c protrudes from the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100. The second elastic region 52d is located inside the convex portion 100.
[0149] 10 and 12 , the first elastic deformation body 52 is provided on the outer circumferential surface 107 on the rear surface 16 side. From another perspective, the first elastic deformation body 52 protrudes from the outer circumferential surface 107 of the convex portion 100 in the sixth direction R6. Therefore, when the first game controller 1 is held vertically or horizontally, the first elastic deformation body 52 is difficult to see from a user facing the front surface 15 of the first game controller 1. Note that the first elastic deformation body 52 may be provided on the front surface 15 side of the outer circumferential surface 107 as well, or may be provided only on the front surface 15 side.
[0150] When the protrusion 100 fits into the game device-side recess 310, the outer peripheral surface 107 and the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 face each other. At this time, the first elastic deformation bodies 52 provided on the outer peripheral surface 107 may come into contact with the opposing game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120. This allows the protrusion 100 to be more firmly attached to the game device-side recess 310. More specifically, when the first elastic deformation bodies 52 come into contact with the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 that faces the back side of the outer peripheral surface 107, the protrusion 100 is urged forward by the game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120 via the first elastic deformation bodies 52. As a result, the front side of the outer peripheral surface 107 of the protrusion 100 is pressed against the opposing game device-side inner peripheral surface 3120, thereby firmly attaching the protrusion 100 to the game device-side recess 310.
[0151] Furthermore, because the first elastic deformation body 52 is elastically deformable, when the protrusion 100 is fitted into the game device recess 310, it elastically deforms so as to contract in the front-to-rear direction, thereby preventing a decrease in fit. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the first elastic deformation body 52 is exposed from the base of the outer circumferential surface 107. That is, the protruding first elastic deformation body 52 is adjacent to the upper surface 11. From another perspective, the upper end of the first elastic deformation body is positioned lower than the top surface of the protrusion 100. Therefore, when the protrusion 100 is inserted into the game device recess 310, it first enters the game device recess 310 from a portion of the outer circumferential surface 107 where the first elastic deformation body 52 is not provided. That is, at the beginning of insertion, the first elastic deformation body 52 does not come into contact with the game device inner circumferential surface 3120. This prevents a decrease in fit.
[0152] Like the first elastic deformation body 52, a portion of the second elastic deformation body 54 may also protrude from an opening provided in the outer peripheral surface of the convex portion 100. The second elastic deformation body 54 may protrude from the same surface of the outer peripheral surface 107 as the surface from which the first elastic deformation body 52 protrudes. Both the first elastic deformation body 52 and the second elastic deformation body 54 may protrude from the back surface side of the outer peripheral surface 107.
[0153] 10 to 13 , the top surface 106 of the protrusion 100 has regions that are each at a different height from the upper side surface 11. The top surface 106 of the protrusion 100 has a first region 101, a second region 102, a third region 103, a fourth region 104, and a fifth region 105.
[0154] The first region 101 is a region of the housing that forms the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100 where a top surface button (right) 110 is provided. The top surface button (right) 110 is provided so as to pass through a first opening 197 formed in the first region 101. Similarly, the second region 102 is a region where a top surface button (left) 120 is provided. The top surface button (left) 120 is provided so as to pass through a second opening 198 formed in the second region 102.
[0155] 11 , the third region 103 is a region of the housing that forms the top surface 106 of the protrusion 100, including the top surface 106 at one end region of the protrusion 100. From another perspective, the third region 103 is continuous with an end surface of the outer circumferential surface 107 of the protrusion 100 on the second direction R2 side. The third region 103 is a region that is located closer to the first direction R1 than each of the first region 101 and the second region 102. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the length of the third region 103 may be shorter than the lengths of the first region 101 and the second region 102.
[0156] A first cushion 191 is provided in the third region 103. More specifically, as shown in Fig. 13, the first cushion 191 is disposed in a recess provided in the third region 103. A portion of the first cushion 191 is exposed from the recess. Note that the third region 103 may be flat without a recess. The first cushion 191 may be placed on the flat surface of the third region.
[0157] 11 , the fifth region 105 is a region of the housing that forms the top surface 106 of the protrusion 100, including the top surface 106 at the other end region of the protrusion 100. From another perspective, the fifth region 105 is continuous with the end surface of the outer circumferential surface 107 of the protrusion 100 on the fourth direction R4 side. The fifth region 105 is a region that is located closer to the first direction R1 than each of the first region 101 and the second region 102. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the length of the fifth region 105 may be shorter than the lengths of the first region 101 and the second region 102.
[0158] A second cushion 192 is provided in the fifth region 105. The second cushion 192 is disposed in a recess provided in the fifth region 105. A portion of the second cushion 192 is exposed from the recess. Note that the fifth region 105 may be flat without a recess. The second cushion 192 may be placed on the flat surface of the fifth region. It can also be said that the first cushions 191, 192 increase the height of the convex portion 100 from the upper side surface 11.
[0159] The fourth region 104 is a region of the housing that forms the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100, and is located between the first region 101 and the second region 102 in the longitudinal direction of the top surface 106. The fourth region is provided with a terminal opening 196 and a synchronization button opening 195.
[0160] The third region 103 is located on the convex side of the fourth region 104. The fifth region 105 is located on the convex side of the fourth region 104.
[0161] In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the first region 101 is located between the third region 103 and the fourth region 104. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, the second region 102 is located between the fifth region 105 and the fourth region 104. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100, each of the first region 101, the second region 102, and the fourth region 104 is located between the third region 103 and the fifth region 105.
[0162] As shown in FIG. 13 , the height of the first region 101 from the upper surface 11 is a first height T1. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the first region 101 in the vertical direction is the first height T1. Similarly, the height of the second region 102 from the upper surface 11 is a second height T2. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the second region 102 in the vertical direction is the second height T2. In this embodiment, the first height T1 and the second height T2 are the same, but they may be different. Note that the first region 101 and the second region 102 may be provided from one end to the other end of the top surface 106 in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100.
[0163] The height of the third region 103 from the upper side surface 11 is a third height T3. From another perspective, the distance from the upper side surface 11 to the third region 103 in the vertical direction is the third height T3. Similarly, the height of the fifth region 105 from the upper side surface 11 is a fifth height T5. From another perspective, the distance from the upper side surface 11 to the fifth region 105 in the vertical direction is the fifth height T5.
[0164] In this embodiment, the third height T3 and the fifth height T5 are the same, but may be different. In this embodiment, the third height T3 and the fifth height T5 are higher than the first height T1 and the second height T2, but may be the same or lower. The third region 103 and the fifth region 105 may be provided from one end to the other end of the top surface 106 in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100.
[0165] The height of the fourth region 104 from the upper surface 11 is a fourth height T4. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the fourth region 104 in the up-down direction is the fourth height T4. In this embodiment, the fourth height T4 is higher than the first height T1 and the second height T2, but may be the same as or lower than them. In this embodiment, the fourth height T4 is lower than the third height T3 and the fifth height T5, but may be the same as or higher than them. The fourth region 104 may be provided from one end to the other end of the top surface 106 in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100.
[0166] The height of the top surface of the first cushion 191 from the upper surface 11 is a sixth height T6. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the top surface of the first cushion 191 in the vertical direction is the sixth height T6. Similarly, the height of the top surface of the second cushion 192 from the upper surface 11 is a seventh height T7. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the top surface of the second cushion 192 in the vertical direction is the seventh height T7.
[0167] When the top surface button (right) 110 is in the initial position, the height of the operation surface 115 from the upper surface 11 is an eighth height T8. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the operation surface 115 in the up-down direction is the eighth height T8. Similarly, when the top surface button (left) 120 is in the initial position, the height of the operation surface 125 from the upper surface 11 is a ninth height T9. From another perspective, the distance from the upper surface 11 to the operation surface 125 in the up-down direction is the ninth height T9.
[0168] 13 and 14 , the right top button 110 can move upward. As shown in Fig. 14 , when the right top button 110 is attracted to the first game device magnetic element 410 and in contact with the game device bottom surface 3121, the height of the operation surface 115 from the upper surface 11 is a tenth height T10. Similarly, when the left top button 120 is attracted to the second game device magnetic element 420 and in contact with the game device bottom surface 3121, the height of the operation surface 125 from the upper surface 11 is an eleventh height T11.
[0169] <Connection structure>
[0170] Fig. 16 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing a state in which the game controller is attached to the main unit 3. The schematic cross-sectional view shown in Fig. 16 is parallel to both the left-right direction and the up-down direction.
[0171] As shown in FIG. 16 , the protrusion 100 of the first game controller 1 fits into the game device recess 310 of the main unit 3. The right top button 110 is attracted to the first game device magnetic element 410 by magnetic force. In the left-right direction, the length of the top surface of the right top button 110 (third length W3) is longer than the length of the first game device magnetic element 410 (first length W1). The right top button 110 is attracted to the first game device magnetic element 410 by magnetic force. The left top button 120 is attracted to the second game device magnetic element 420 by magnetic force. In the left-right direction, the length of the top surface of the left top button 120 (fourth length W4) is longer than the length of the second game device magnetic element 420 (second length W2). The left top button 120 further has a first protrusion 121 and a second protrusion 122.
[0172] <Removal mechanism>
[0173] Figure 17 is a schematic rear view showing the configuration of the game controller. Figure 18 is a schematic cross-sectional view taken along line XVIII-XVIII in Figure 17. As shown in Figure 18, the first game controller 1 has a pusher 181, a pusher operating member 186, and a biasing member 183. These constitute a removal mechanism. The pusher operating member 186 has an operating member 182, a pusher operating member 185, and a rotation shaft 184.
[0174] When the user operates the operation unit 182, the pusher 181 protrudes from the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100. When the first game controller 1 is attached to the main unit 3, the protruding pusher 181 presses against the game device-side bottom surface 3121 of the game device-side recess 310. When the pusher 181 presses against the game device-side bottom surface 3121, the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100 moves in a direction away from the game device-side bottom surface 3121. The first game controller 1 rotates around the end opposite to the end where the pusher 181 is provided as a fulcrum. As described above, the first game controller 1 can be easily removed from the main unit 3.
[0175] The pusher 181 may protrude to the right of the operating portion 182 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. The center of the pusher 181 may be located to the right of the center of the operating portion 182 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. The pusher 181 may protrude to the right of the first elastic deformation body 52 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. The center of the pusher 181 may be located to the right of the center of the first elastic deformation body 52 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100.
[0176] Furthermore, the amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the operation surface 115 of the right top button 110 is spaced apart from the surface of the cover member 338 that constitutes the bottom surface 3121 of the recess 310. From another perspective, the amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the operation surface 115 of the right top button 110 is spaced apart from the surface of the cover 338 that constitutes the bottom surface 3121 of the recess 310 even when the right top button 110 is attracted to the first game device magnetic element 410 and moves upward to its maximum extent. This allows the first game controller 1 to be easily removed from the main unit 3. The amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that at least a portion of the operation surface 125 of the left top button 120 does not separate from the surface of the cover 338. This prevents the first game controller 1 from being suddenly removed from the main unit 3.
[0177] The amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the right end (the end on the second direction R2 side in FIG. 11 ) of the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100 is exposed from the opening of the recess 310 due to the protrusion of the pusher 181. The amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the right end of the top surface 106 is not exposed from the opening of the recess 310 even when the pusher 181 protrudes. The amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the entire first elastic deformation body 52 exposed from the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100 is exposed from the opening of the recess 310 due to the protrusion of the pusher 181. On the other hand, only a portion of the second elastic deformation body 54 exposed from the outer peripheral surface 107 may be exposed from the opening of the recess 310. The amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the light emitting unit 150 provided on the outer peripheral surface 107 is not exposed from the opening of the recess 310 even when the pusher 181 protrudes. The amount of protrusion of the pusher 181 may be such that the right end of the upper surface 11 (the end on the second direction R2 side in FIG. 11 ) and the top end of the main body right side surface 313 are spaced apart by a distance of, for example, 0.5 mm to 1 cm. The distance may be, for example, 1 mm to 5 mm. The distance may also be, for example, 2 mm.
[0178] As shown in FIGS. 17 and 18 , the operation unit 182 is provided on, for example, the rear surface 16. The operation unit 182 is positioned so as to be exposed through an opening provided on the rear surface 16. The operation unit 182 is operated by a user. The operation unit 182 is operated in the direction of arrow A3. The direction of arrow A3 is a rotation direction from the main body right side surface 313 toward the right side and from the rear side toward the front side of the main body device 3. From another perspective, the direction of arrow A3 is a rotation direction of the first game controller 1 toward the third direction R3 and the fifth direction R5. Note that the operation unit 182 may be configured to be operated in a direction parallel to the third direction R3. FIG. 18 shows a state (natural state) before the operation of the operation unit 182.
[0179] 19 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing a state when the operation unit 182 is being operated. The rotation shaft 184 rotates together with the pusher operating unit 185 by operating the operation unit 182. The pusher operating unit 185 causes the pusher 181 to protrude.
[0180] Before the operating unit 182 is operated, the pusher 181 is disposed inside the convex portion 100. The biasing portion 183 biases the pusher 181 in the third direction R3. The biasing portion 183 is, for example, a coil spring. When the user operates the operating unit 182 in the third direction R3, the rotation shaft 184 rotates together with the operating unit 182 and the pusher actuation portion 185, and the pusher actuation portion 185 pushes the pusher 181 in the first direction R1. A portion of the pusher 181 protrudes from the convex portion 100. When the user releases the operating unit 182, the biasing portion 183 extends, causing the pusher 181 to move in the third direction R3. This returns the pusher 181 to its natural position.
[0181] 18 and 19 , the operation unit 182 is operated in at least the third direction R3. In this embodiment, the operation unit 182 is rotated in directions including the third direction R3 and the fifth direction R5. That is, the operation direction of the operation unit 182 is the third direction R3 (a direction moving away from the upper surface 11) when viewed from the rear of the first game controller 1, and is the fifth direction R5 (a direction moving closer to the rear) when viewed from the side. When the operation unit 182 is operated in the third direction R3, the pusher 181 moves in the first direction R1. From another perspective, the pusher 181 moves in the direction opposite to the operation direction of the operation unit 182.
[0182] <Attachment>
[0183] Next, the configuration of the attachment according to the first embodiment will be described in detail. Fig. 20 is a six-sided schematic diagram showing the configuration of the attachment according to the first embodiment. Fig. 21 is an exploded perspective schematic diagram showing the configuration of the attachment according to the first embodiment.
[0184] As shown in Figures 20 and 21, the attachment 500 according to the first embodiment includes a main body member 530, a strap 590, a first magnet member 512, a second magnet member 522, a first yoke 513, a second yoke 523, a first cover 510, a second cover 520, a first light-guiding member 551c, a second light-guiding member 552c, and two double-sided tapes 557.
[0185] The strap 590 is attached to the main body member 530. The strap 590 has a string member 591, a stopper 592, a crimping member 593, and a crimping cover 594. The crimping member 593 connects both ends of the string member 591. The crimping cover 594 covers the crimping member 593. The string member 591 is threaded through two holes formed in the stopper 592. The user's wrist is passed through the loop formed by the string member 591. The size of the loop is adjusted by moving the stopper 592 along the string member 591. The attachment 500 is attached to the user's wrist using the strap 590.
[0186] As shown in FIG. 20 , the attachment 500 has a recess 585. The recess 585 is provided in a main body member 530. The main body member 530 has an upper surface 501, a lower surface 502, an outer circumferential surface 503, and an inner circumferential surface 504. The lower surface 502 is opposite the upper surface 501. The outer circumferential surface 503 is continuous with both the upper surface 501 and the lower surface 502. The recess 585 opens in the lower surface 502. The recess 585 extends along the longitudinal direction of the main body member 530. The recess 585 has a bottom surface 509. The inner circumferential surface 504 is continuous with the lower surface 502. The recess 585 is formed, for example, by the bottom surface 509 and the inner circumferential surface 504. The inner circumferential surface 504 is surrounded by the outer circumferential surface 503. The outer peripheral surface 503 is provided with a first light guide path 551 and a second light guide path 552 .
[0187] As shown in FIG. 21 , the first magnet member 512 includes two first magnet pieces 512a, 512b with opposite polarities. The polarity on one side of the bottom surface 509 of each of the two first magnet pieces 512a, 512b is a north pole. The polarity on the other side of the bottom surface 509 of each of the two first magnet pieces 512a, 512b is a south pole. Similarly, the second magnet member 522 includes two second magnet pieces 522a, 522b with opposite polarities. The polarity on one side of the bottom surface 509 of each of the two second magnet pieces 522a, 522b is a north pole. The polarity on the other side of the bottom surface 509 of each of the two second magnet pieces 522a, 522b is a south pole. The first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 are each made of a material such as a neodymium magnet.
[0188] 22 is a schematic perspective view showing the configuration of a main body member 530 provided with a light guide path. As shown in FIG. 22 , a first top surface recess 541, a second top surface recess 542, a third top surface recess 543, a fourth top surface recess 544, a fifth top surface recess 545, and a sixth top surface recess 546 are provided on the top surface 501. The first top surface recess 541 includes two first recesses 541a and 541b. Each of the two first recesses 541a and 541b extends in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. The second top surface recess 542 includes two second recesses 542a and 542b. Each of the two second recesses 542a and 542b extends in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585.
[0189] The first top surface recess 541 is provided on the bottom surface of the third top surface recess 543. The second top surface recess 542 is provided on the bottom surface of the fourth top surface recess 544. The third top surface recess 543 is provided on the bottom surface of the fifth top surface recess 545. The fourth top surface recess 544 is provided on the bottom surface of the sixth top surface recess 546.
[0190] FIG. 23 is a schematic perspective view showing a configuration in which a magnet 580 is provided on a main body member 530. The magnet 580 has a first magnet member 512 and a second magnet member 522. The first magnet member 512 is housed in a first upper surface recess 541. Specifically, two first magnet pieces 512a and 512b are housed in two first recesses 541a and 541b, respectively. Similarly, the second magnet member 522 is housed in a second upper surface recess 542. Specifically, two second magnet pieces 522a and 522b are housed in two second recesses 542a and 542b, respectively. The provision of the first upper surface recess 541 and the second upper surface recess 542 on the top surface 501 makes it possible to easily assemble the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 to the main body member 530. Furthermore, by accommodating the first magnet member 512 in the first upper surface recess 541 and the second magnet member 522 in the second upper surface recess 542, the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 can be prevented from detaching from the main body member 530.
[0191] Each of the two first magnet pieces 512 a, 512 b extends along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Each of the two first magnet pieces 512 a, 512 b is arranged to face each other in the lateral direction of the recess 585. Similarly, each of the two second magnet pieces 522 a, 522 b extends along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Each of the two second magnet pieces 522 a, 522 b is arranged to face each other in the lateral direction of the recess 585.
[0192] FIG. 24 is a schematic perspective view showing a configuration in which a yoke and a magnet are provided on a main body member 530. As shown in FIG. 24 , the first yoke 513 is disposed in the third top surface recess 543. The first yoke 513 extends along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Similarly, the second yoke 523 is disposed in the fourth top surface recess 544. The second yoke 523 extends along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. The material of each of the first yoke 513 and the second yoke 523 may be, for example, iron or, as an example, SPCC. The first yoke 513 may be fixed to the main body member 520. The fixing means for the first yoke 513 is not limited. For example, the first yoke 513 may be fixed to the third top surface recess 543 with an adhesive. Similarly, the second yoke 523 may be fixed to the main body member 520.
[0193] According to the attachment 500 of this embodiment, two magnet pieces with opposite polarities are arranged facing each other, and a yoke is arranged on the two magnet pieces. The magnetic flux forms a loop, which generates a strong magnetic force while suppressing leakage magnetic flux on the opposite side of the recess 585.
[0194] FIG. 25 is a cross-sectional schematic diagram showing the configuration of the attachment according to the first embodiment. The cross section shown in FIG. 25 is perpendicular to both the longitudinal direction and the depth direction of the recess 585. Hereinafter, the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 will also be referred to as the left-right direction. The depth direction of the recess 585 will also be referred to as the up-down direction. The upper surface 501 is located on the upper side relative to the outer peripheral surface 503. The lower surface 502 is located on the lower side relative to the outer peripheral surface 503. The short side direction of the recess 585 is a direction perpendicular to both the longitudinal direction and the depth direction of the recess 585. The short side direction of the recess 585 will also be referred to as the front-rear direction.
[0195] As shown in FIGS. 24 and 25 , the first cover 510 is disposed in the fifth top surface recess 545. The first cover 510 is disposed on the first yoke 513. The first cover 510 covers the first yoke 513. The first cover 510 prevents the first yoke 513 and the first magnet member 512 from falling off the main body member 530. The fifth top surface recess 545 also facilitates positioning of the first cover 510. Similarly, the second cover 520 is disposed in the sixth top surface recess 546. The second cover 520 is disposed on the second yoke 523. The second cover 520 covers the second yoke 523. The second cover 520 prevents the second yoke 523 and the second magnet member 522 from falling off the main body member 530. The sixth top surface recess 546 also facilitates positioning of the second cover 520.
[0196] 21 to 25 , the magnet 580 is provided along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. In the attachment 500 according to this embodiment, the magnet 580 includes a first magnet member 512 and a second magnet member 522 as multiple magnets, which are arranged side by side along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Each of the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 may extend along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Note that there may be only one magnet 580. In the case where there is only one magnet 580, the magnet 580 extends along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585.
[0197] The first yoke 513 and the second yoke 523 are arranged side by side along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. In the longitudinal direction (i.e., the left-right direction) of the recess 585, the length of the first yoke 513 (first yoke length B3) is longer than the length of the first magnet member 512 (first magnet length B1). In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the length of the second yoke 523 (second yoke length B4) is longer than the length of the second magnet member 522 (second magnet length B2).
[0198] The first cover 510 and the second cover 520 are arranged side by side along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the length of the first cover 510 (first cover length B5) is longer than the length of the first yoke 513 (first yoke length B3). In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the length of the second cover 520 (second cover length B6) is longer than the length of the second yoke 523 (second yoke length B4).
[0199] FIG. 26 is an enlarged schematic view of region XXVI in FIG. 25 . As shown in FIGS. 25 and 26 , the first magnet member 512 is attracted to the first yoke 513. The first magnet member 512 is not fixed to the bottom surface of the first upper surface recess 541. The first magnet member 512 may be spaced apart from the bottom surface of the first upper surface recess 541. A gap may be provided between the first magnet member 512 and the bottom surface of the first upper surface recess 541. From another perspective, the vertical length of the first magnet member 512 may be shorter than the depth of the first upper surface recess 541. The second magnet member 522 and the second upper surface recess 542 may have substantially the same structure as the first magnet member 512 and the first upper surface recess 541.
[0200] If a magnetic member is adhered and fixed to the bottom surface of the upper surface recess, an attractive force may be generated between the yoke and the magnetic member, which may cause the magnetic member to peel off from the bottom surface of the upper surface recess depending on the relationship between the adhesive force and the attractive force. That is, the magnetic member may be adhered to the bottom surface of the upper surface recess or attached to the yoke, which may result in the magnetic member not exerting the intended magnetic force on the game controller 1. Therefore, by attaching the first magnetic member 512 to the first yoke 513 without adhering it to the bottom surface of the first upper surface recess 541, and by attaching the second magnetic member 522 to the second yoke 523 without adhering it to the bottom surface of the second upper surface recess 542, it is possible to prevent the magnetic member from not exerting the intended magnetic force.
[0201] 26 , the thickness of the central portion of the first yoke 513 may be thicker than the thickness of the longitudinal ends of the first yoke 513. The longitudinal ends of the first yoke 513 may not be in contact with the first cover 510. A gap may be provided between the longitudinal ends of the first yoke 513 and the first cover 510. The second yoke 523 may have substantially the same structure as the first yoke 513.
[0202] 26 , the distance (first distance D1) from the first magnet member 512 to the end opposite the side where the recess 585 is provided in the up-down direction is shorter than the distance (second distance D2) from the first magnet member 512 to the open end of the recess 585. The first distance D1 is the distance from the upper side of the first magnet member 512 to the upper side of the first cover 510. The second distance D2 is the distance from the lower side of the first magnet member 512 to the lower surface 502 of the main body member 530. The second distance D2 is not particularly limited, but may be at least two times, or at least three times the first distance D1.
[0203] Similarly, in the vertical direction, the distance from the second magnet member 522 to the end opposite the side where the recess 585 is provided (third distance D3) is shorter than the distance from the second magnet member 522 to the open end of the recess 585 (fourth distance D4). The third distance D3 is the distance from the upper side of the second magnet member 522 to the upper side of the second cover 520. The fourth distance D4 is the distance from the lower side of the second magnet member 522 to the lower surface 502 of the main body member 530. The fourth distance D4 is not particularly limited, but may be at least two times, or at least three times the third distance D3.
[0204] As described above, by increasing the distance from each of the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 to the lower surface 502 on which the recess 585 is provided, it is possible to prevent unintended objects from being affected by the magnets even if the unintended objects approach the recess 585. By shortening the distance from each of the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 to the upper surface 501 of the main body member 530, it is possible to reduce the size of the attachment 500. Furthermore, by providing the first yoke 513 between the first magnet member 512 and the upper surface 501 and the second yoke 523 between the second magnet member 522 and the upper surface 501, it is possible to prevent leakage magnetic flux from occurring on the upper surface 501 side.
[0205] In the vertical direction, the first yoke 513 is provided between the end portion on the opposite side to the side where the recess 585 is provided and the first magnet member 512. In the vertical direction, the first yoke 513 is provided between the first cover 510 and the first magnet member 512. Similarly, in the vertical direction, the second yoke 523 is provided between the end portion on the opposite side to the side where the recess 585 is provided and the second magnet member 522. In the vertical direction, the second yoke 523 is provided between the second cover 520 and the second magnet member 522.
[0206] Figure 27 is a schematic cross-sectional view taken along line XXVII-XXVII in Figure 25. As shown in Figure 27, a first main body protrusion 575 may be provided in the first upper surface recess 541. The two magnet pieces 512a, 512b are separated by the first main body protrusion 575. The first main body protrusion 575 may be spaced apart from the first yoke 513. A gap may be provided between the first main body protrusion 575 and the first yoke 513.
[0207] In the short-side direction (i.e., the front-to-rear direction) of the recess 585, the first main body protrusion 575 is located between the two first magnet pieces 512a, 512b. Each of the two first magnet pieces 512a, 512b is attracted to the first yoke 513. Each of the two first magnet pieces 512a, 512b may be spaced apart from the bottom surface of the first top surface recess 541. A portion of the first cover 510 may protrude from the fifth top surface recess 545 toward the top surface 501. The thickness of the first cover 510 may be greater than the depth of the fifth top surface recess 545.
[0208] <Engagement element>
[0209] 28 is an enlarged schematic view of region XXVIII in FIG. 25 . As shown in FIG. 28 , the attachment 500 has an engaging element 561. The engaging element 561 is provided on the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585. The engaging element 561 is provided on at least one longitudinal end face of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585. In other words, the engaging element 561 may be provided on only one longitudinal end face of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585, or may be provided on both longitudinal end faces of the recess 585. According to this embodiment, the engaging element 561 is provided on only one of the longitudinal end faces of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585.
[0210] As shown in FIG. 28 , the engaging element 561 has a curved surface 564 and a lower side surface portion 563. The engaging element 561 protrudes into the recess 585. The curved surface 564 is the surface of the engaging element 561 that faces the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 and is spaced apart from the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585. The lower side surface portion 563 is the surface of the engaging element 561 that faces the opening side of the recess 585 and is continuous with the curved surface 564. The curved surface 564 has a curved shape. The curved surface 564 may be curved so as to be convex toward the inside of the recess 585 and the bottom surface 509. The engaging element 561 may have a shape that protrudes more into the recess 585 as it approaches the opening side from the bottom surface 509 side of the recess 585. In the vertical direction, the engaging piece 561 may be provided on the end face of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585 at a position closer to the opening side than to the bottom surface 509 side of the recess 585 .
[0211] The lower side surface portion 563 of the engaging element 561 may be continuous with the lower surface 502 of the main body member 530. In a cross section parallel to each of the up-down and left-right directions, the lower side surface portion 563 may extend linearly. In this cross section, the lower side surface portion 563 may be inclined toward the bottom surface 509 with respect to the lower surface 502. The lower side surface portion 563 may be curved so as to be convex toward the inside and opening of the recess 585. The lower side surface portion 563 may not be curved as much as the curved surface 564. Also, as shown in FIG. 28 , the end of the lower surface 502 on the side where the engaging element 561 is provided has a rounded shape. Note that the end of the lower surface 502 on the side where the engaging element 561 is provided does not have to be rounded. As an example, the lower surface 502 may be a flat surface that is parallel to the upper surface 11 as a whole.
[0212] The main body member 530 has an attachment portion 505 for the strap 590. The attachment portion 505 is, for example, a through-hole that penetrates the main body member 530 in the front-to-rear direction. The attachment portion 505 penetrates the outer peripheral surface 503 of the main body member 530, from one outer surface on one side in the short direction of the recess 585 to the outer surface on the other side. The attachment portion 505 is provided near the engaging element 561.
[0213] The mounting portion 505 is provided outside the recess 585. The mounting portion 505 is provided on one side of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction. The mounting portion 505 is provided on the same side of the recess 585 as the side on which the engaging element 561 is provided, further from the center of the attachment 500 in the longitudinal direction. As shown in FIG. 25 , the main body member 530 has a first outer surface portion 5031 on one side of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction and a second outer surface portion 5032 on the other side of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction. In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the mounting portion 505 is located between the first outer surface portion 5031 and the engaging element 561. In the up-down direction, the mounting portion 505 is provided between the bottom surface 509 and the lower surface 502.
[0214] <Light guide path>
[0215] Figure 29 is a schematic cross-sectional view taken along line XXIX-XXIX in Figure 25. As shown in Figure 29, recess 585 has a first inner circumferential surface 504a and a second inner circumferential surface 504b that face each other. Each of first inner circumferential surface 504a and second inner circumferential surface 504b extends along the longitudinal direction of recess 585.
[0216] The attachment 500 has a first light guide path 551 and a second light guide path 552. In cross sections parallel to the up-down direction and the front-rear direction, the first light guide path 551 and the second light guide path 552 may have shapes that are symmetrical with respect to a line extending in the up-down direction.
[0217] The first light guide path 551 has a first light guide member 551c and a first light guide hole 551d. The first light guide member 551c has a first light guide portion 551a having an L-shaped cross section and a second light guide portion 551b having a rectangular cross section. The first light guide portion 551a may be attached to an L-shaped first housing portion 553 formed in the main body member 530. The first housing portion 553 is a portion where the first inner circumferential surface 504a and the bottom surface 509 are hollowed out in an L-shape.
[0218] The second light guiding portion 551b is continuous with the first light guiding portion 551a. The second light guiding portion 551b is inserted into the first light guiding hole 551d. The first light guiding hole 551d is formed in the main body member 530. The first light guiding hole 551d penetrates the first outer peripheral surface 503a and the first inner peripheral surface 504a of the main body member 530. The first outer peripheral surface 503a is located on the opposite side of the first inner peripheral surface 504a. Note that the first light guiding path 551 may be composed of only the first light guiding hole 551d. The first light guiding path 551 does not have to include the first light guiding member 551c.
[0219] The second light guide path 552 has substantially the same configuration as the first light guide path 551 and is arranged in the same manner.
[0220] The first light guiding member 551c may be entirely or partially made of a light guiding material (for example, transparent plastic).
[0221] According to the attachment 500 of this embodiment, the first housing 553 has a stopper end surface 553a against which the first light guiding portion 551a abuts when the second light guiding portion 551b moves in the axial direction of the first light guiding hole 551d. The stopper end surface 553a extends in the vertical direction. Therefore, even if the first light guiding member 551 is pushed from outside the first light guiding hole 551d of the attachment 500, the first light guiding portion 551a abuts against the stopper end surface 553a of the first housing 553, thereby preventing the first light guiding member 551 from moving further toward the rear. Furthermore, because the first light guiding member 551 is attached to the first housing 553, the first light guiding member 551 is prevented from falling off the main body member 530. The same applies to the second light guiding member 552.
[0222] Furthermore, the first light guiding portion 551a may have a tapered surface 551e located on the bottom side of the recess 585 in the up-down direction and on the inside of the recess 585 in the front-to-rear direction. The tapered surface 551e is inclined with respect to the front-to-rear direction so that the thickness of the first light guiding portion 551a in the up-down direction decreases toward the inside of the recess 585 in the front-to-rear direction. This makes it possible to easily fit the first light guiding portion 551a into the first housing portion 553 by inserting the second light guiding portion 551b into the first light guiding hole 551d and rotating the first light guiding member 551c around the first light guiding hole 551d as a fulcrum.
[0223] <Press area>
[0224] 25 , the main body member 530 has a first press portion 519 and a second press portion 529. The bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 has a first press region 511 and a second press region 521. The first press portion 519 constitutes the first press region 511. The first press region 511 is an area where the first button 110 of the game controller 1 is pressed. At least a portion of the first press region 511 faces at least a portion of the top surface of the first button 110. The second press portion 529 constitutes the second press region 521. The second press region 521 is an area where the second button 120 of the game controller 1 is pressed. At least a portion of the second press region 521 faces at least a portion of the top surface of the second button 120.
[0225] The bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 has a first bottom surface region 509a, a central bottom surface region 509c, and a second bottom surface region 509b. In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the first pressed region 511 is located between the first bottom surface region 509a and the central bottom surface region 509c. The second pressed region 521 is located between the second bottom surface region 509b and the central bottom surface region 509c.
[0226] The first depression region 511 protrudes further than at least a portion of the region other than the first depression region 511 on the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585. This allows the first button 110 to be easily pressed, for example, even if the top surface of the first button 110 is recessed from the top surface of the convex portion 100. The first depression region 511 may protrude further than a portion of the first bottom surface region 509a. The first depression region 511 may protrude further than a portion of the second bottom surface region 509b. The first depression region 511 may protrude further than a portion of the central bottom surface region 509c.
[0227] In another aspect, the first pressing region 511 may not protrude further than at least a portion of the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 other than the first pressing region 511. In the vertical direction, the first pressing region 511 may be located at the same height as each of the first bottom surface region 509a, the second bottom surface region 509b, and the central bottom surface region 509c.
[0228] The second depression region 521 protrudes further than at least a portion of the region other than the second depression region 521 on the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585. This allows the second button 120 to be easily pressed, for example, even if the top surface of the second button 120 is recessed from the top surface of the convex portion 100. The second depression region 521 may protrude further than a portion of the first bottom surface region 509a. The second depression region 521 may protrude further than a portion of the second bottom surface region 509b. The second depression region 521 may protrude further than a portion of the central bottom surface region 509c.
[0229] In another aspect, the second pressing region 521 may not protrude further than at least a portion of the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 other than the second pressing region 521. In the vertical direction, the second pressing region 521 may be located at the same height as each of the first bottom surface region 509a, the second bottom surface region 509b, and the central bottom surface region 509c.
[0230] In the attachment 500 of this embodiment, the magnet 580 is provided at the bottom of the recess 585. The magnet 580 may be embedded in the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585, may be arranged so as to be exposed on the surface or in a recessed position of a hole formed in the bottom surface 509, or may be arranged on the bottom surface 509. In one aspect, the first magnet member 512 is provided in the first depression portion 519. The first magnet member 512 is embedded in the first depression region 511. This makes it easier for the first magnet member 512 to be attracted to the first button 110. The first magnet member 512 extends along the first depression region 511. This prevents the first magnet member 512 from detaching into the recess 585. Furthermore, compared to when the first magnet member 512 is exposed at the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585, direct adhesion of foreign matter such as iron filings to the first magnet member 512 can be suppressed.
[0231] The first magnet member 512 may be exposed in the first depression region 511, may be disposed in a hole formed in the first depression region 511, or may be disposed on the first depression region 511. With respect to the depth direction of the recess 585, at least a portion of the first magnet member 512 is provided between the first depression region 511 and a deepest region, which is the deepest region of the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585. By disposing the first magnet member 512 between the deepest region and the first depression region 511, space can be used effectively. Furthermore, because the first magnet member 512 is disposed near the first button 110, the adhesive force between the first magnet member 512 and the first button 110 can be improved.
[0232] The second magnet member 522 is arranged in substantially the same manner as the first magnet member 512 .
[0233] The deepest region of the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 may be the first bottom surface region 509a, the second bottom surface region 509b, or the central bottom surface region 509c. In the vertical direction, the first bottom surface region 509a and the central bottom surface region 509c are each located between the first pressing region 511 and the first cover 510. In the vertical direction, the second bottom surface region 509b and the central bottom surface region 509c are each located between the second pressing region 521 and the second cover 520.
[0234] 11 and 12 , the top surface of the convex portion 100 has a first region 101 in which a first opening 197 is provided and a second region 102 in which a second opening 198 is provided. The first button 110 is disposed in the first opening 197. The second button 120 is disposed in the second opening 198. The first region 101 and the second region 102 are each provided from one end to the other in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100 (the front-to-rear direction of the convex portion 100). As shown in FIGS. 2 and 20 , on the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585, the first depression region 511 and the second depression region 521 may each be provided from one end to the other in the short direction of the recess 585. Therefore, even if the attachment 500 is slightly misaligned in the front-to-rear direction, the first depression area 511 and the second depression area 521 can press the first button 110 and the second button 120, respectively.
[0235] In another aspect, on the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585, each of the first pressed region 511 and the second pressed region 521 may be spaced apart from one end in the short direction of the recess 585 or from the other end in the short direction. In yet another aspect, each of the first pressed region 511 and the second pressed region 521 may be spaced apart from one end in the short direction of the recess 585 and connected to the other end in the short direction.
[0236] <Notch>
[0237] 25 , a notch 581 may be provided on the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585. The notch 581 is provided to avoid the elastic deformation bodies 52, 54 protruding from the outer circumferential surface 503 of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1. When the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the game device-side recess 585, the elastic deformation bodies 52, 54 come into contact with the inner circumferential surface 504 of the game device-side recess 585 and are crushed. When the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the recess 585 of the attachment 500, the elastic deformation bodies 52, 54 are positioned inside the notch 581.
[0238] The notches 581 may be provided on only one of the first inner circumferential surface 504a and the second inner circumferential surface 504b of the recess 585, or may be provided on both the first inner circumferential surface 504a and the second inner circumferential surface 504b. According to the attachment 500 of this embodiment, two notches 581 are provided on the first inner circumferential surface 504a and two notches 581 are provided on the second inner circumferential surface 504b. In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, one of the two notches 581 is located on one side (the right side) of the first pressing region 511, and the other of the two notches 581 is located on the other side (the left side) of the second pressing region 521. In other words, the first pressing region 511 and the second pressing region 521 are sandwiched between the two notches 581 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585.
[0239] 25 , the notch 581 extends from the open end of the recess 585 toward the bottom surface. The notch 581 is formed to open to the lower surface 502 of the main body member 530. The notch 581 is spaced apart from the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585. In the vertical direction, the notch 581 is disposed closer to the lower surface 502 of the main body member 530.
[0240] If the elastically deformable bodies 52, 54 of the game controller 1 interfere with the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585 of the attachment 500, it becomes difficult for the attachment 500 to move closer to the game controller 1. In other words, it becomes difficult to press the first button 110 and the second button 120 of the game controller 1 using the attachment 500. By providing the notches 581 on the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 to avoid the elastically deformable bodies 52, 54, it is possible to prevent the movement of the attachment 500 from being hindered.
[0241] <How to wear>
[0242] Next, a method for attaching the attachment 500 to the game controller 1 will be described. Figure 30 is a schematic diagram showing the state in which the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1. Figure 31 is an enlarged schematic cross-sectional view of area XXXI in Figure 30.
[0243] 30 and 31 , the engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 is inserted into the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1 in the direction of the first arrow S1. In this state, the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 is inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1. A portion of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the recess 585 of the attachment 500.
[0244] While the engaging piece 561 of the attachment 500 remains inserted into the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1, the attachment 500 rotates in a plane perpendicular to the front-to-rear direction of the game controller 1. The end of the body member 530 opposite the end where the strap 590 is attached moves in the direction of the second arrow S2, approaching the game controller 1. As a result, the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the concave portion 585 of the attachment 500. In this way, the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1.
[0245] <When worn>
[0246] Next, a description will be given of a state in which the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1. Figure 32 is a schematic front view showing a state in which the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1. Figure 33 is an enlarged schematic cross-sectional view of area XXXIII in Figure 32.
[0247] 32 and 33 , the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1 so that the recess 585 fits into the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1. In the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1, the entire protrusion 100 fits into the recess 585 of the attachment 500. The protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 is provided on the upper surface 11 of the controller housing 10. The lower surface 502 of the attachment 500 faces the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1. The attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1 so that the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 and the longitudinal direction of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 are aligned.
[0248] The bottom surface 502 of the attachment 500 is spaced apart from the top surface 11 of the game controller 1. The depth of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 (recess depth C) is smaller than the height of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 (twelfth height T12). The depth of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 is the depth of the recess 585 in the vertical direction of the attachment 500. The height of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 is the height of the protrusion 100 in the vertical direction of the game controller 1. The twelfth height T12 may be the same as the third height T3 or the fifth height T5 (see FIG. 13). The recess depth C may be smaller than the sixth height T6 or the seventh height T7 (see FIG. 13). The depth of the deepest portion of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 may be smaller than the height of the highest portion of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1.
[0249] 33 , the engaging piece 561 of the attachment 500 is disposed in the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1. The second engaging hole 194 is provided on one end face of the outer circumferential surface 503 of the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100.
[0250] The engagement of the engaging piece 561 with the second engaging hole 194 can prevent the attachment 500 from unintentionally detaching from the game controller 1. This can reinforce the attachment of the attachment 500 to the game controller 1. For example, even if the magnetic force of the magnet in the attachment 500 is weaker than the magnetic force of the magnet in the game device, the attachment can be reinforced.
[0251] The engaging element 561 is provided on the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585. This allows for space savings compared to when the engaging element 561 is located outside the recess 585. This also prevents the engaging element 561 from getting caught on something unintentionally. The engaging element 561 has a tapered tip that protrudes inside the recess 585. This makes it easy to attach the engaging element 561 to the second engaging hole 194. The engaging element 561 also has a curved surface 564 that protrudes inside the recess 585. This allows for easy removal of the attachment 500 from the game controller 1 by rotating the attachment 500 around the engaging element 561 as a fulcrum.
[0252] Furthermore, engaging element 561 is located closer to the opening side of recess 585 than to bottom surface 509. Therefore, attachment 500 can be easily attached to game controller 1 by tilting attachment 500 obliquely and hooking engaging element 561, which is located closer to the opening side of recess 585, into second engaging hole 194 of protrusion 100, and then rotating recess 585 relative to protrusion 100 using the hooked position as a fulcrum.
[0253] 33 , the attachment portion 505 of the strap 590 is located in the opposing direction of the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1. The attachment portion 505 of the strap 590 is provided on the same side as the side on which the engaging element 561 is provided, rather than the center of the attachment 500, in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. The attachment portion 505 of the strap 590 is provided in the vicinity of the engaging element 561.
[0254] The engaging element 561 limits the detachment direction of the attachment 500. To detach the attachment 500 from the game controller 1, the engaging element 561 must be moved toward the game controller 1 (in the direction of the fourth arrow S4). However, because the attachment portion 505 of the strap 590 faces the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1, the strap 590 cannot be pulled with a large force in the direction of the fourth arrow S4. This is because, if the strap 590 is pulled in the direction of the fourth arrow S4, the strap 590 will strike the upper surface 11 before fully extending in the direction of the fourth arrow S4. Furthermore, the direction of the fourth arrow S4 is the same as the direction of the magnetic force of the first magnet member. Because the first magnet member is magnetically attracted to the first button 110, the strap 590 does not move easily even when pulled in the direction of the fourth arrow S4. In other words, the attachment 500 according to this embodiment has a structure that prevents the attachment 500 from easily coming off the game controller 1 even if the strap 590 is pulled.
[0255] Figure 34 is an enlarged schematic cross-sectional view of region XXXIV in Figure 32. Note that the cross section shown in Figure 34 is located midway between the two first magnet pieces 512a and 512b that make up the first magnet member 512 in the front-rear direction, and therefore the first magnet member 512 is not shown in Figure 34. As shown in Figure 34, when the top surface button (right) 110 of the game controller 1 and the first magnet member 512 of the attachment 500 are attracted to each other, the operation surface 115 of the top surface button (right) 110 comes into contact with the first depression region 511. The top surface 106 of the convex portion is spaced from the bottom surface 509. A gap is provided between the top surface 106 of the convex portion and the bottom surface 509.
[0256] When the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the recess 585 of the attachment 500, the first button 110 and the second button 120 are attracted to the magnet by magnetic force. Specifically, the first magnet member 512 is attracted to the first button 110 by magnetic force. The second magnet member 522 is attracted to the second button 120 by magnetic force.
[0257] The phrase "the first magnet member 512 is attracted to the first button 110 by magnetic force" includes cases where the first magnet member 512 is in direct contact with the first button 110 and cases where another member is interposed between the first magnet member 512 and the first button 110. In this embodiment, the first magnet member 512 is attracted to the first button 110 by magnetic force via the main body member 530. The first depression region 511 of the main body member 530 is in contact with the top surface of the first button 110. The first magnet member 512 is spaced apart from the first button 110. The first button 110 is held in the first depression region 511 of the main body member 530 by the magnetic force of the first magnet member 512. Similarly, "the second magnet member 522 is attracted to the second button 120 by magnetic force" includes cases where the second magnet member 522 is in direct contact with the second button 120 and cases where another member is interposed between the second magnet member 522 and the second button 120.
[0258] With the attachment 500 according to this embodiment, when the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the recess 585 of the attachment 500, the first button 110 is magnetically attracted to the first magnet member 512, and the second button 120 is magnetically attracted to the second magnet member 522. This allows the attachment 500 to be attached to the game controller 1 using the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522, while aligning the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 using the recess 585 that fits into the protrusion 100.
[0259] 34 , the length of first depression region 511 in the longitudinal direction of recess 585 (seventh length B7) is shorter than the length of the top surface of first button 110 in the longitudinal direction of protrusion 100 (third length W3). In the longitudinal direction of recess 585, the entire area of first depression region 511 faces the top surface of first button 110. This prevents first depression region 511 from coming into contact with parts of the top surface of protrusion 100 that are not first button 110, even if first depression region 511 is slightly misaligned in the left-right direction. This prevents first button 110 from being obstructed when pressed.
[0260] In another aspect, the length of first depression region 511 in the longitudinal direction of recess 585 may be equal to or greater than the length of the top surface of first button 110 in the longitudinal direction of protrusion 100 .
[0261] The same applies to the second depression area 521 (eighth length B8) and the top surface of the second button 120 (fourth length W4).
[0262] The game controller 1 has a first elastic deformation body 52 and a second elastic deformation body 54. The first elastic deformation body 52 is disposed between the upper surface of the flange 113 and the first inner surface 71. The second elastic deformation body 54 is disposed between the upper surface of the flange 123 and the first inner surface 73. Each of the first elastic deformation body 52 and the second elastic deformation body 54 elastically deforms when a force is applied thereto and elastically returns to its original shape when the force is no longer applied thereto.
[0263] When the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1, the first button 110 and the first magnet member 512 face each other. In this embodiment, the first button 110 is made of a soft magnetic material. Therefore, when the first magnet member 512 approaches the first button 110, the first button 110 is attracted to the first magnet member 512 by magnetic force. This applies a force to the first button 110 in the direction opposite to the pressing direction. At this time, the first elastic deformation body 52 provided between the flange 113 and the first inner surface 71 is pressed toward the first inner surface 71 by the flange 113, and elastically deforms to contract in the direction opposite to the pressing direction. When the first button 110 of the game controller 1 and the first magnet member 512 are attracted to each other, the first elastic deformation body 52 may be compressed in the vertical direction.
[0264] When the attachment 500 is removed from the game controller 1, the first magnet member 512 tries to move away from the first button 110, but because they are attracted by magnetic force, the first button 110 moves further upward and the first elastic deformation body 52 is further crushed in the vertical direction.
[0265] From another perspective, when the attachment 500 is detached from the game controller 1, the first button 110 attempts to move further upward instantaneously while maintaining its attraction to the first magnet member 512. This creates a feeling of stickiness or resistance when the attachment 500 is detached from the game controller 1, preventing the first magnet member 512 from suddenly detaching from the first button 110. The same is true for the second magnet member 522 and the second button 120.
[0266] When the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 is fitted into the recess 585 of the attachment 500, the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 is spaced apart from the top surface 106 of the protrusion 100. Specifically, the first area 101 to the fifth area 105 of the top surface 106 are each spaced apart from the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585.
[0267] The bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 may have a contact portion 509d that contacts the pusher 181 protruding from the top surface of the game controller 1 in response to a user operation (see FIG. 25 ). The contact portion 509d may be located in the first bottom surface region 509a. The contact portion 509d is provided on the other side of the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. An engagement element 561 is provided on one side of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction.
[0268] In another aspect, the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 may not have the abutment portion 509d. In other words, a pusher avoidance portion (not shown) may be provided in the portion of the bottom surface 509 that faces the pusher 181. The pusher avoidance portion is, for example, a recess or hole provided in the bottom surface 509. This prevents the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 from being pressed by the pusher 181 even when the pusher 181 protrudes from the top surface of the game controller 1 in response to a user operation.
[0269] Figure 35 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the vicinity of the convex portion 100 taken along line XXXV-XXXV in Figure 32. As shown in Figure 35, when the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 fits into the recess 585 of the attachment 500, the first light guide path 551 of the attachment 500 is positioned to face the light emitting portion 150 of the game controller 1. More specifically, the first light guiding member 551c of the first light guide path 551 faces the light emitting portion 150. The light emitting portion 150 is located on an imaginary line that passes through the first light guiding hole 551d of the first light guide path 551 and the second light guiding hole 552d of the second light guide path 552.
[0270] The light emitting unit 150 is provided on the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100. The light emitting unit 150 emits light to the outside of the convex portion 100. The first light guide path 551 passes light emitted from the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 that is fitted into the recess 585 of the attachment 500. Therefore, even when the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1, the user can see the light that has passed through the first light guide path 551 from outside the attachment 500. Furthermore, light passes from the inner peripheral surface 504 of the recess 585 toward the outer peripheral surface 503 of the main body member 530. Therefore, for example, a user who holds the game controller 1 horizontally can easily see the light.
[0271] 35 , both the first light guide path 551 and the second light guide path 552 may be provided on the attachment 500. In this case, when the attachment 500 is attached to the first game controller 1, the first light guide path 551 faces the light emitting unit 150, and when the attachment 500 is attached to the second game controller 2, the second light guide path 552 faces the light emitting unit 150. Therefore, whether the attachment 500 is attached to the first game controller 1 or the second game controller 2, the user can see the light from the light emitting unit 150. Note that the first light guide path 551 may be offset from the light emitting unit 150. As an example, the first light guide path 551 may face the light emitting unit 150 at a position offset upward from the light emitting unit 150. From another perspective, the upper region of the light emitting section 150 does not have to face the first light guide path 551 , and the lower region does not have to face the first light guide path 551 .
[0272] Figure 36 is a schematic cross-sectional view taken along line XXXVI-XXXVI in Figure 32. The cross section shown in Figure 36 is perpendicular to the up-down direction of the attachment 500. As shown in Figure 36, the width (third width E3) of the first engaging element 561 in the front-to-rear direction of the attachment 500 is smaller than the width (first width E1) of the second engaging hole 194 in the front-to-rear direction of the game controller 1. Therefore, the first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 can be inserted into the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1. In other words, the first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 engages with the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1.
[0273] 37 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the state in which the first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 is about to be inserted into the first engaging hole 193 of the game controller 1. In the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100, the first engaging hole 193 of the game controller 1 is located on the opposite side of the second engaging hole 194. The first engaging hole 193 is provided on the end face of the outer peripheral surface 503 of the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 on the other side in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100. The second engaging hole 194 is provided on the end face of the outer peripheral surface 503 of the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 on one side in the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 100.
[0274] 37 , the width (third width E3) of the first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 in the front-rear direction is greater than the width (second width E2) of the first engaging hole 193 in the front-rear direction of the game controller 1. Therefore, the first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 cannot be inserted into the first engaging hole 193 of the game controller 1. In other words, the first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 does not engage with the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1.
[0275] The first engaging element 561 of the attachment 500 may be formed in a shape that engages with the second engaging hole 194 of the game controller 1 but does not engage with the first engaging hole 193. This allows the attachment 500 to be attached to the game controller 1 in the correct orientation, but prevents it from being attached to the game controller 1 in the opposite orientation. Furthermore, the attachment 500 can be easily attached to the game controller 1 in the correct orientation.
[0276] The width of the first engaging element 561 in the vertical direction of the attachment 500 is greater than the width of the first engaging hole 193 in the vertical direction of the game controller 1, so that the first engaging element 561 does not have to engage with the first engaging hole 193. The geometric shape of the first engaging element 561 is different from the geometric shape of the first engaging hole 193, so that the first engaging element 561 does not have to engage with the first engaging hole 193.
[0277] (operation side)
[0278] Next, the operation surface 570 of the attachment 500 will be described. As shown in Fig. 25 , the attachment 500 has the operation surface 570. The operation surface 570 is the surface that is operated by the user. In the vertical direction of the attachment 500, a recess 585 is provided on one side, and the operation surface 570 is provided on the other side.
[0279] The operation surface 570 may have a first operation area 510 and a second operation area 520 that are visually or tactilely distinguishable. For example, the first operation area 510 and the second operation area 520 are visually distinguishable when the color, gloss, pattern, etc. of each operation area differs from the other area. For example, the second operation area 520 is tactilely distinguishable when the material of each operation area differs from the other area, when the height of each operation area differs from the other area, or when there is a boundary (groove) between each operation area and the other area.
[0280] In this embodiment, the first operation area 510 is, for example, the upper surface of the first cover 510. The second operation area 520 is, for example, the upper surface of the second cover 520. The first operation area 510 and the second operation area 520 are each provided along the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Note that at least a portion of the upper surface 501 of the main body member 530 may constitute the operation surface 570. For example, the area of the upper surface 501 of the main body member 530 between the first operation area 510 and the second operation area 520 constitutes the operation surface 570.
[0281] The first operation area 510 is provided on one side (right side) of the center of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, closer to the end of that side (right side). Note that in this embodiment, the center of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 is substantially the same as the center of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction. The distance between the left end of the first operation area 510 and the center of the operation surface 570 may be longer than the distance between the right end of the first operation area 510 and the second outer surface portion 5032. In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the center of the first operation area 510 may be located outward (right side) of the center of the first press area 511.
[0282] The second operation area 520 is provided closer to the other end (left side) of the center of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. The distance between the right end of the second operation area 520 and the center of the operation surface 570 may be longer than the distance between the left end of the second operation area 520 and the first outer surface portion 5031. In the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the center of the second operation area 520 may be located outside (left side) the center of the second press area 521.
[0283] When attached to the game controller 1, the first operation area 510 may be located above the first button 110, and the center of the first operation area 510 may be located outside the center of the top surface of the first button 110 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Similarly, when attached to the game controller 1, the second operation area 520 may be located above the second button 120, and the center of the second operation area 520 may be located outside the center of the top surface of the second button 120 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. In another aspect, the first operation area 510 and the second operation area 520 may be integrated to form an operation area.
[0284] Since the attachment 500 has the operation surface 570 , the first button 110 and the second button 120 of the game controller 1 can be pressed while the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1 .
[0285] <Operation>
[0286] Next, a method for using the attachment 500 while it is attached to the game controller 1 will be described.
[0287] Fig. 38 is a partial cross-sectional schematic diagram showing a state in which the right side of the operation surface 570 is being pressed. The cross section shown in Fig. 38 is perpendicular to the front-to-rear direction of the attachment 500. As shown in Fig. 38 , the game controller 1 to which the attachment 500 is attached is held by a user with both hands. The operation surface 570 of the attachment 500 is being pressed by the index finger of the user's right hand. The index finger of the user's right hand is pressing, for example, the first cover 510. The first cover 510 is part of the operation surface 570.
[0288] The first depression area 511 of the main body member 530 is in contact with the first button 110. When the operation surface 570 is pressed by the user, the main body member 530 moves closer to the game controller 1. As a result, the first button 110 is pressed by the main body member 530. In other words, when the operation surface 570 is pressed by the user, the first button 110 is pressed. As a result, the tact switch located below the first button 110 is pressed by the first button 110.
[0289] From another perspective, by pressing down at least a part of one side (right side) of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the main body member 530 tilts relative to the game controller 1 so that the one side (right side) and the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1 approach each other, and the first button 110 on the one side (right side) is pressed. The part pressed by the user only needs to be on one side (right side) of the center of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, and is not limited to the first cover 510. The part pressed by the user may also be a part of the top surface 501 of the main body member 530 on one side (right side) of the center of the operation surface 570.
[0290] From another perspective, when at least a portion of one side (right side) of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 is pressed down, the main body member 530 may be tilted with respect to the game controller 1 so that one side (right side) of the main body member 530 approaches the upper surface 11 without contacting the upper surface 11. Note that, although one side (right side) of the main body member 530 appears to be in contact with the upper surface 11 due to the scale in FIG. 38 , in reality, there is a small gap between one side (right side) of the main body member 530 and the upper surface 11. When at least a portion of one side (right side) of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 is pressed down, the clearance between the lower surface 502 of the attachment 500 on the other side (left side) and the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1 is larger than the clearance between the lower surface 502 of the attachment 500 on the one side (right side) and the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1.
[0291] When the right side of the operation surface 570 is pressed down, if one side (the right side) of the attachment 500 comes into contact with the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1, depending on manufacturing dimensional errors of the attachment 500 and / or the game controller 1 or misalignment when attached, it is possible that a situation may arise in which the tactile switch below the right button is not input (is not turned on) even though the attachment 500 cannot be pressed down any further. When the right side of the operation surface 570 is pressed down, the attachment 500 tilts relative to the game controller 1 so that one side (the right side) of the attachment 500 does not come into contact with the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1, thereby preventing the occurrence of the situation described above.
[0292] In this embodiment, when at least a portion of one side (right side) of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 is pressed, the main body member 530 tilts relative to the game controller 1, with the flange 123 of the second button 120 on the other side (left side) serving as a fulcrum. Of the two flanges 123 that the second button 120 has, the fulcrum for the tilt of the main body member 530 is located on the flange 123 on the other side (left side). Using the flange 123 as a fulcrum allows the attachment 500 to tilt easily.
[0293] Before the user presses the operation surface 570, the clearance between the bottom surface 502 of the attachment 500 and the top surface 11 of the game controller 1 on one side (right side) of the recess 585 in the longitudinal direction is larger than the amount of depression of the first button 110 (the distance the first button 110 moves required to press the tactile switch).
[0294] As described above, by pressing the right side of the operation surface 570, only the first button 110 of the game controller 1 located to the right of the recess 585 is pressed. In this case, the second button 120 of the game controller 1 located to the left of the recess 585 is not pressed.
[0295] 39 is a partial cross-sectional schematic diagram showing a state in which the left side of the operation surface 570 is pressed. Substantially the same as pressing the first button 110, pressing the left side of the operation surface 570 presses only the second button 120 of the game controller 1 located to the left of the recess 585.
[0296] Fig. 40 is a partial cross-sectional schematic diagram showing a state in which both sides of operation surface 570 are being pressed. The cross section shown in Fig. 40 is perpendicular to the front-to-rear direction of attachment 500. As shown in Fig. 40, operation surface 570 of attachment 500 is being pressed with the index finger of the user's left hand and the index finger of the user's right hand. The index finger of the user's left hand is pressing, for example, second cover 520. The index finger of the user's right hand is pressing, for example, first cover 510.
[0297] The first press area 511 and the second press area 521 are in contact with the first button 110 and the second button 120, respectively. When the user presses the operation surface 570, the main body member 530 moves closer to the game controller 1. As a result, the first button 110 and the second button 120 are pressed by the main body member 530. The first button 110 and the second button 120 are pressed simultaneously.
[0298] From another perspective, by simultaneously pressing down at least a portion of one side (right side) of the operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585 and at least a portion of the other side (left side) in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, the main body member 530 may move closer to the upper surface 11 and the first button 110 and the second button 120 may be pressed.
[0299] From yet another perspective, by simultaneously pressing down at least a portion of one side (right side) of operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of recess 585 and at least a portion of the other side (left side) of recess 585 in the longitudinal direction, main body member 530 may move so that one side (right side) and the other side (left side) of main body member 530 approach upper side surface 11 without contacting upper side surface 11. In a state in which at least a portion of one side (right side) of operation surface 570 in the longitudinal direction of recess 585 and at least a portion of the other side (left side) of recess 585 in the longitudinal direction are simultaneously pressed down, the clearance between bottom surface 502 of attachment 500 and upper side surface 11 of game controller 1 on one side (right side) is substantially the same as the clearance between bottom surface 502 of attachment 500 and upper side surface 11 of game controller 1 on the other side (left side).
[0300] As described above, by pressing both sides of the operation surface 570, the button of the game controller 1 located to the left of the recess 585 and the button of the game controller 1 located to the right of the recess 585 are pressed simultaneously.
[0301] With attachment 500 according to this embodiment, when main body member 530 approaches game controller 1, first button 110 and second button 120 are pressed by main body member 530. Therefore, the thickness of attachment 500 can be made thinner than when attachment 500 has a push button other than main body member 530 and this push button presses a button on game controller 1.
[0302] According to the attachment 500 of this embodiment, the depth of the recess 585 of the attachment 500 is smaller than the height of the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1. As a result, a clearance is created between the main body member 530 of the attachment 500 and the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1. As a result, the attachment 500 can easily move in a direction toward the upper surface 11 of the game controller 1.
[0303] In a structure in which main body member 530 itself moves, when a portion of operation surface 570 near the center is pressed, the entire main body member 530 may sink, potentially pressing both first button 110 and second button 120. Therefore, by providing first operation area 510 and second operation area 520 near the outside, the user can be guided to easily press one button (and to avoid unintentionally pressing both buttons).
[0304] Although the above description has been given of a case in which the first depression region 511 and the second depression region 521, which are parts of the main body member 530, respectively press the first button 110 and the second button 120, the present disclosure is not limited to this configuration. As another aspect, if the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522 are exposed from the main body member 530, the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522, rather than the main body member 530, may press the first button 110 and the second button 120, respectively. As yet another aspect, other objects may be present between the main body member 530 and each of the first button 110 and the second button 120, and the first button 110 and the second button 120 may be pressed by the main body member 530 via the other objects.
[0305] <Removal method>
[0306] Next, a method for detaching the attachment 500 from the game controller 1 will be described. Figure 41 is a schematic diagram showing the state in which the attachment 500 is being detached from the game controller 1.
[0307] First, the user operates the operation unit 182 (see FIGS. 18 and 19 ). This causes the pusher 181 to protrude from the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1. The protruding pusher 181 presses against the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585 provided in the attachment 500. Specifically, the pusher 181 presses against the contact portion 509 d of the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585.
[0308] As shown in FIG. 41 , when the pusher 181 presses the contact portion 509d of the bottom surface 509, the portion of the attachment 500 facing the pusher 181 moves in a direction away from the top surface 106 of the convex portion 100. The attachment 500 rotates in the direction of the third arrow S3, with the vicinity of the engaging piece 561 on the opposite side of the contact portion 509d as a fulcrum. As a result, the recess 585 on the contact portion 509d side disengages from the convex portion 100. After the recess 585 on the contact portion 509d side disengages from the convex portion 100 to a certain extent, the attachment 500 can be moved so that the engaging piece 561 disengages from the engaging hole, thereby disengaging the recess 585 on the engaging piece 561 side from the convex portion 100. This allows the attachment 500 to be easily removed from the controller.
[0309] Even if the pusher 181 protrudes, the attachment 500 does not completely separate from the game controller 1. At this time, the attachment 500 may be prevented from completely separating from the game controller 1 by the engaging piece 561 continuing to be inserted into the second engaging hole 194 and / or by at least the second magnet member continuing to be attracted to the second button 120. The attachment 500 may be completely separated from the game controller 1 by the pusher 181 protruding.
[0310] 41 , the depth of recess 585 may be such that, when pusher 181 protrudes, the right end (upper end in FIG. 41 ) of top surface 106 of convex portion 100 is exposed from the opening of recess 585. Note that the depth of recess 585 may be such that, even when pusher 181 protrudes, the right end of top surface 106 is not exposed from the opening of recess 310.
[0311] 41 , the depth of recess 585 may be such that pusher 181 protrudes and at least a portion of pusher 181 is exposed from recess 585. Note that the depth of recess 585 may be such that pusher 181 is not exposed from recess 585 even when pusher 181 protrudes.
[0312] 41 , the depth of the recess 585 may be such that the operation surface 115 of the top surface button (right) 110 is exposed from the recess 585 when the pusher 181 protrudes. However, the depth of the recess 585 may be such that the operation surface 115 of the top surface button (right) 110 is not exposed from the recess 585 even when the pusher 181 protrudes.
[0313] Furthermore, the depth of the recess 585 may be such that the entire first elastic deformation body 52 exposed from the outer peripheral surface 107 of the convex portion 100 is exposed from the opening of the recess 585 due to the protrusion of the pusher 181. On the other hand, the second elastic deformation body 54 exposed from the outer peripheral surface 107 may be only partially exposed from the opening of the recess 585, or may be entirely exposed.
[0314] Although the above describes the case where the operation unit 182 is used to detach the attachment 500 from the game controller 1, the attachment 500 may be detached from the game controller 1 without using the operation unit 182. The user may detach the attachment 500 from the controller by holding the attachment 500 and rotating the attachment 500 around the end of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 585 in which the engagement piece 561 is provided or the engagement piece 561 as a fulcrum.
[0315] <Modification>
[0316] A through-hole (not shown) may be formed in the bottom surface 509 of the recess 585. The through-hole may extend from the bottom surface 509 to the top surface 501. The through-hole may be provided in the first bottom surface region 509a, the central bottom surface region 509c, or the second bottom surface region 509b.
[0317] The attachment 500 does not have to have the engaging element 561. Specifically, the attachment 500 has a magnet but does not have to have the engaging element 561. In the case where the attachment 500 has the engaging element 561, the engaging element 561 may have an angular shape without having a curved surface. The engaging element 561 may be provided at a position closer to the bottom surface 509 side than the opening side of the recess 585, or may be provided at an intermediate position between the opening side and the bottom surface 509.
[0318] The attachment 500 does not have to have the strap 590. In this case, the attachment 500 does not have to have the attachment portion 505 for the strap 590. In the case where the attachment 500 has the attachment portion 505 for the strap 590, the attachment portion 505 for the strap 590 may be provided on the opposite side of the center of the attachment 500 from the side on which the engaging element 561 is provided in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, or the attachment portion 505 for the strap 590 may be provided in the center of the attachment 500.
[0319] Attachment 500 does not have to have the function of pressing first button 110 and second button 120. In this case, attachment 500 may have attachment portion 505 for strap 590.
[0320] The attachment 500 may have the first magnet member 512 and the second magnet member 522, but may not have the first yoke 513 attracted to the first magnet member 512 or the second yoke 523 attracted to the second magnet member 522. In another aspect, the attachment 500 may have only one of the first yoke 513 and the second yoke 523.
[0321] The attachment 500 does not have to have the notches 581 for avoiding the elastic deformation bodies 52, 54 of the game controller 1. It should be noted that the game controller 1 does not have to have the elastic deformation bodies 52, 54.
[0322] The attachment 500 does not necessarily have to have the light guide paths 551, 552 through which the light emitted from the convex portion 100 of the game controller 1 passes. It should be noted that the game controller 1 does not necessarily have to have the light emitting portion 150.
[0323] The attachment 500 may not have the first cover 510 and the second cover 520. In this case, the operation surface 570 may be formed only by the top surface 501 of the main body member 530. Also, in this case, a partial area of the top surface 501 of the main body member 530 may be formed so as to be visually or tactilely distinguishable from the other areas of the top surface 501, thereby forming the first operation area and the second operation area.
[0324] When the attachment 500 has a first operation area 510 and a second operation area 520 that are visually or tactilely distinguishable, the center of the first operation area 510 does not have to be located outside (to the right of) the center of the first press area 511 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Specifically, the center of the first operation area 510 may be located inside (to the left of) the center of the first press area 511 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, or may be at the same position as the center of the first press area 511. Similarly, the center of the second operation area 520 does not have to be located outside (to the left of) the center of the second press area 521 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Specifically, the center of the second operation area 520 may be located inside (to the right of) the center of the second press area 521 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585, or may be at the same position as the center of the second press area 521.
[0325] When the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1, the center of the first operation area 510 does not have to be located outside the center of the top surface of the first button 110 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Specifically, the center of the first operation area 510 may be located inside the center of the top surface of the first button 110, or may be at the same position as the center of the top surface of the first button 110 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. Similarly, when the attachment 500 is attached to the game controller 1, the center of the second operation area 520 does not have to be located outside the center of the top surface of the second button 120 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. The center of the second operation area 520 may be located inside the center of the top surface of the second button 120, or may be at the same position as the center of the top surface of the second button 120 in the longitudinal direction of the recess 585. [Second Embodiment]
[0326] Next, the configuration of the attachment 600 according to the second embodiment will be described. Fig. 42 is a schematic perspective view showing the configuration of the attachment 600 according to the second embodiment. Fig. 43 is a schematic perspective view showing the configuration of the attachment 600 according to the second embodiment as viewed from a different direction than that shown in Fig. 42.
[0327] 42 and 43 , the attachment 600 according to the second embodiment includes, for example, a main body member 630, a strap 690, a first light guide path 651, a second light guide path 652, a first movable portion 610, and a second movable portion 620. The strap 690, the first light guide path 651, the second light guide path 652, the first movable portion 610, and the second movable portion 620 are attached to the main body member 630. The main body member 630 includes an upper surface 601, a lower surface 602, an outer peripheral surface 603, and an inner peripheral surface 604. The lower surface 602 is continuous with the upper surface 601. The outer peripheral surface 603 is continuous with both the upper surface 601 and the lower surface 602. A recess 685 is provided in the lower surface 602. The recess 685 is formed by, for example, the bottom surface 609 and the inner peripheral surface 604 .
[0328] Fig. 44 is a cross-sectional schematic diagram showing the configuration of an attachment 600 according to the second embodiment. The cross section shown in Fig. 44 is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the recess 685 and parallel to the up-down direction of the attachment 600. In Fig. 44, the strap 690 is omitted.
[0329] The first movable part 610 penetrates the main body member 630. The first movable part 610 is movable relative to the main body member 630. The first movable part 610 has a first operation surface 671, a first depression area 611, a first magnet member 612, and a first yoke 613. The first operation surface 671 is pressed by a user. The first movable part 610 presses the first button 110 when the user presses the first operation surface 671. The first depression area 611 is located on the opposite side of the first operation surface 671 in the up-down direction. The first button 110 is pressed by the first depression area 611. The second movable part 620 has substantially the same structure as the first movable part 610.
[0330] FIG. 45 is an enlarged schematic view of region XXXXV in FIG. 44 . As shown in FIG. 45 , the first movable portion 610 further includes a first movable member 619 and a second movable member 614. The first magnet member 612 and the first yoke 613 are sandwiched between the first movable member 619 and the second movable member 614. The first movable member 619 includes a first main body member 619 a and a first flange member 619 b. The first main body member 619 a constitutes the first operation surface 671. The second movable member 614 includes a second main body member 614 a and a second flange member 614 b. The second main body member 614 a constitutes the first depression region 611. The second movable portion 620 has substantially the same configuration as the first movable portion 610.
[0331] The main body member 630 has an upper plate portion 681 and a bottom plate portion 682. The upper plate portion 681 forms the upper surface 501 of the main body member 630. An upper plate hole 683 is formed in the upper plate portion 681. The first main body member 619a is disposed in the upper plate hole 683. The bottom plate portion 682 forms the bottom surface 609 of the recess 685. In the up-down direction, the bottom plate portion 682 is located between the upper plate portion 681 and the lower surface 602. A bottom plate hole 684 is formed in the bottom plate portion 682. The second main body member 614a is disposed in the bottom plate hole 684.
[0332] In FIG. 45 , the dashed line indicates the outline of the first movable part 610 when it has moved downward. When the attachment 600 is positioned so that the upper surface 601 faces vertically upward, the first movable part 610 is positioned as shown by the dashed line. As shown in FIG. 45 , the first movable part 610 is movable in the up-down direction of the attachment 600. The first flange member 619b moves between the upper plate portion 681 and the bottom plate portion 682 in the up-down direction of the attachment 600. The upward movement of the first movable part 610 is restricted by the first flange member 619b. The second flange member 614b moves between the upper plate portion 681 and the bottom plate portion 682 in the up-down direction of the attachment 600. The downward movement of the first movable part 610 is restricted by the second flange member 614b.
[0333] In its natural state, the first movable part 610 is in the dashed line position due to gravity. When the attachment 600 is attached to the game controller 1, the first movable part 610 is pressed upward (to the solid line position in FIG. 45 ) by the first button 110. From another perspective, the first depression region 611 is pressed upward by the biasing member that is pressing the first button 110 upward. When the user presses the first movable part 610 from this state, the first depression region 611 presses the first button 110. When the user releases their hand from the first movable part 610, the restoring force of the first button 110 returns the first movable part 610 to its upward position.
[0334] When the recess 685 of the attachment 600 is attached to the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1, the first movable part 610 is disposed opposite the first button 110, and the second movable part 620 is disposed opposite the second button 120. At least a portion of the top surface of the protrusion 100 abuts against the bottom surface 609 of the recess 685. The first movable part 610 and the second movable part 620 can press the first button 110 and the second button 120, respectively.
[0335] As shown in Figures 43 and 44, the attachment 600 has a first engaging element 661 and a second engaging element 662. The first engaging element 661 is movable. For example, the first engaging element 661 may move by sinking into the main body member 630, or the first engaging element 661 itself may move by deformation. The first engaging element 661 is provided on the end face of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 685 on the other side in the longitudinal direction of the recess 685. The second engaging element 662 is non-movable. The second engaging element 662 is provided on the end face of the inner circumferential surface 504 of the recess 685 on one side in the longitudinal direction of the recess 685.
[0336] The first engaging element 661 may be biased by a biasing portion (not shown). When an external force is applied to the first engaging element 661, the first engaging element 661 may move in the longitudinal direction of the recess 685. When the external force applied to the first engaging element 661 is removed, the first engaging element 661 may return to its original position. The second engaging element 662 is fixed to, for example, the main body member 630. The second engaging element 662 protrudes from the inner circumferential surface 604 of the recess 685.
[0337] 44 , an attachment portion 605 for the strap 690 is formed on the main body member 630. The attachment portion 605 is a through-hole. The attachment portion 605 is located near the second engaging element 662. In another aspect, the attachment portion 605 may be located near the first engaging element 661.
[0338] When attaching the recess 685 of the attachment 600 to the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1, first the non-movable second engaging element 662 is inserted into the first engaging hole 193 of the game controller 1. Next, while rotating the attachment 600 around the second engaging element 662 as a fulcrum, the movable first engaging element 661 is inserted into the second engaging hole 194. When the attachment of the recess 685 of the attachment 600 to the protrusion 100 of the game controller 1 is complete, the first engaging element 661 engages with the second engaging hole 194. The second engaging element 662 engages with the first engaging hole 193.
[0339] According to the attachment 600 of this embodiment, the first movable part 610 and the second movable part 620 each fit loosely into the main body member 630. Therefore, when the attachment 600 is attached to the game controller 1 so that the first movable part 610 and the second movable part 620 are attached to the first button 110 and the second button 120, respectively, rattle may occur between the main body member 630 and the game controller 1. By attaching the attachment 600 to the game controller 1 using two engaging elements, rattle between the main body member 630 and the game controller 1 is suppressed, and detachment of the attachment 600 from the game controller 1 can be suppressed.
[0340] <Modification>
[0341] The first magnet member 612 may be exposed from the second movable member 614 to the recess 685. The first movable part 610 may not have the first yoke 613. The first movable part 610 may be composed of the first movable member 619 and the first magnet member 612, or may be composed of the second movable member 614 and the first magnet member 612, or may be composed of only the first magnet member 612.
[0342] The second magnet member 622 may be exposed from the fourth movable member 624 to the recess 685. The second movable part 620 may not have the second yoke 623. The second movable part 620 may be composed of the third movable member 629 and the second magnet member 622, or may be composed of the fourth movable member 624 and the second magnet member 622, or may be composed of only the second magnet member 622.
[0343] The attachment 600 may have the first engaging element 661 but may not have the second engaging element 662. The attachment 600 may have the second engaging element 662 but may not have the first engaging element 661. The attachment 600 may not have the first engaging element 661 or the second engaging element 662.
[0344] The attachment 600 may have a biasing member that biases the first movable part 610 and the second movable part 620 upward.
[0345] Next, the configuration of an attachment 700 according to the third embodiment will be described. Fig. 46 is a schematic perspective view showing the configuration of the attachment 700 according to the third embodiment. The attachment 700 according to the third embodiment is a charging stand.

The first bottom surface 709a is substantially parallel to the main body-side second side surface 702. A charging base-side first terminal 731 is provided on the first bottom surface 709a. The charging base-side first terminal 731 protrudes from the first bottom surface 709a. The charging base-side first terminal 731 is surrounded by the first inner circumferential surface 704a.
[0349] The second recess 785b has a second bottom surface 709b and a second inner peripheral surface 704b. The second inner peripheral surface 704b is continuous with the second bottom surface 709b. The second bottom surface 709b is substantially parallel to the second main body side surface 702. A second charging base terminal 732 is provided on the second bottom surface 709b. The second charging base terminal 732 protrudes from the second bottom surface 709b. The second charging base terminal 732 is surrounded by the second inner peripheral surface 704b.
[0350] The second recess 785b is disposed adjacent to the first recess 785a. The longitudinal direction of the second recess 785b may be the same as the longitudinal direction of the first recess 785a. The longitudinal direction of the main body-side first side surface 701 may be the same as the longitudinal direction of the first recess 785a. The longitudinal direction of the main body-side first side surface 701 may be the same as the longitudinal direction of the second recess 785b. The first bottom surface 709a may be substantially parallel to the second bottom surface 709b.
[0351] The first magnet member 711 and the second magnet member 712 are arranged along the longitudinal direction of the first recess 785a. In the longitudinal direction of the first recess 785a, the first charging base terminal 731 is located between the first magnet member 711 and the second magnet member 712. The third magnet member 713 and the fourth magnet member 714 are arranged along the longitudinal direction of the second recess 785b. In the longitudinal direction of the second recess 785b, the second charging base terminal 732 is located between the third magnet member 713 and the fourth magnet member 714.
[0352] The external connection connector 719 is provided, for example, on the main body-side outer peripheral surface 703. Power is supplied from the outside through the external connection connector 719. In the short direction of the main body-side first side surface 701, the external connection connector 719 is located between the first recess 785a and the second recess 785b.
[0353] Figure 47 is a schematic perspective view showing the first game controller and second game controller attached to the attachment. As shown in Figure 47, the convex portion 100 of the first game controller 1 fits into the first recess 785a. The first terminal 160 of the first game controller 1 is electrically connected to the first terminal 731 of the charging base. The convex portion 200 of the second game controller 2 fits into the second recess 785b. The second terminal 260 of the second game controller 2 is electrically connected to the second terminal 732 of the charging base.
[0354] Power is supplied from the outside through the external connection connector 719. The first game controller 1 has a battery (not shown). The battery of the first game controller 1 is charged with external power through the first terminal 160. The second game controller 2 has a battery (not shown). The battery of the second game controller 2 is charged with external power through the second terminal 260.
[0355] 47 , the first game controller 1 and the second game controller 2 are arranged, for example, so that the front of the first game controller 1 faces the back of the second game controller 2. The first game controller 1 and the second game controller 2 are arranged so that the left-right direction of the first game controller 1 is opposite to the left-right direction of the second game controller 2.
[0356] The arrangement of the first game controller 1 and the second game controller 2 is not limited to the above. For example, the first game controller 1 and the second game controller 2 may be arranged so that the front of the first game controller 1 faces the front of the second game controller 2. The first game controller 1 and the second game controller 2 may be arranged so that the up-down direction of the first game controller 1 is the same as the up-down direction of the second game controller 2.
[0357] Although the above description has been given of a case in which the first recess 785a and the second recess 785b are provided on the second main body side surface 702, the present disclosure is not limited to the above. Specifically, the first recess 785a may be provided on the second main body side surface 702, but the second recess 785b may not be provided. Alternatively, the third recess and the fourth recess may be provided.
[0358] The charging base may be provided with cutouts to avoid the elastic deformation bodies 52, 54 of the game controller 1. Specifically, a cutout may be provided on the inner circumferential surface 504 of the first recess 785a. A cutout may be provided on the inner circumferential surface 504 of the second recess 785b. The elastic deformation bodies 52, 54 can suppress rattle when the game controller 1 is attached to a game device and in use. On the other hand, rattle is tolerated while attached to a charging base, etc. By providing a cutout in the charging base, it is possible to reduce the resistance felt when attaching or detaching the game controller 1.
[0359] <Modification>
[0360] In the above description, the charging base as an example of the attachment 700 has magnets (first magnet member 711 to fourth magnet member 714), but the present disclosure is not limited to this. That is, the attachment 700 does not have to have a magnet. This prevents the game controller 1 from being strongly attracted to the attachment 700 and making it difficult to remove when the game controller 1 is to be detached from the attachment 700.
[0361] If the attachment 700 does not have a magnet, the attachment 700 may have an engaging element. In this case, the engaging element can be used to attach the attachment 700 to the game controller 1. The attachment 700 does not have to have either a magnet or an engaging element.
[0362] In the above description, the attachment 700 has a roughly rectangular parallelepiped shape, but the shape of the attachment 700 is not limited to this. When viewed from the top to bottom, the attachment 700 may have a shape other than a rectangle, such as a trapezoid, a circle, or an oval.
[0363] The attachment 700 may have a processor (not shown). The processor may be capable of loading an application program and executing information processing. The attachment 700 may have a wireless communication unit (not shown). The attachment 700 may transmit and receive data to and from the game controller 1 via the wireless communication unit. The wireless communication unit may support communication methods such as Bluetooth (registered trademark) or infrared communication. The attachment 700 may transmit and receive data to and from an information processing device other than the game controller 1 via the wireless communication unit.
[0364] The embodiments disclosed herein should be considered to be illustrative in all respects and not restrictive. For example, the attachments shown in the first to third embodiments are merely exemplary. The attachments may have different structures and functions. For example, the attachment may have two game controllers detachably attached to the left and right sides, respectively, and may be held integrally with the two game controllers. The scope of the present invention is defined by the claims, not the above description, and is intended to include all modifications within the meaning and scope of the claims.
