Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to full duplex (FD) operation of a user equipment (UE). An apparatus, such as a UE, receives configuration information from a network entity such as a base station. The UE uses the configuration information to determine FD information including FD applicability of the UE and signal attributes usable for FD operation, including self-interference measurements for wireless resources at the UE. The UE transmits signaling to the network entity including the FD information and the UE receives a response from the network entity indicating whether FD operation with the UE can be established and if so, FD resources for the FD operation.

[0037] In wireless communications systems a RA procedure is an important step (e.g., in 5G- NR) for establishing an initial connection between a UE and a network node, such as a gNB. An RA procedure can be classified into two types: Type-1 (e.g., a 4-step RA procedure) and Type-2 (e.g., a 2-step RA procedure). A Type-2 RA procedure can include two steps: transmission of MsgA whichcan include transmission of MsgA-PRACH and MsgA-PUSCH, and reception of MsgB. If MsgB is received successfully, the RA procedure can be considered successful and the UE can use the established communication link for its half-duplex (HD) communications with the network node, e.g., to transmit UL signals / channels and receive DL signals / channels.

[0038] However, if a UE is FD capable, the UE may need to establish at least two communication links, one link for UL signal and / or channel transmission and another link for DL signal and / or channel reception, which is not supported by current Type-2 RA procedure.

[0039] Accordingly, aspects of the disclosure are directed to enabling a UE to establish at least two communication links with a network node while taking into account the associated selfinterference at the UE and the network node. For instance, an extended Type-2 RA procedure is described (e.g., a “Type-2 FD RA procedure”) that enables a UE to establish a FD communication mode with a network node while considering the self-interference. The Type-2 FD RA procedure can contain an extended configuration message including one or more of Type-2 FD RA procedure triggering conditions, a number of MsgA-PRACH messages mapped to each MsgA-PUSCH message, a self-interference threshold, or combinations thereof. According to implementations the set of triggering conditions can include a received power of at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs being above an indicated threshold, DL SSB Rx beams correspondence of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs, DL SSB Tx beams correspondence of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs, a predicted self-interference of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs, and combinations thereof.

[0040] In implementations a self-interference measurement process between each MsgA-RACH UL Tx beam and an at least one DL Rx beam can be used to determine the FD applicability of a UE. Further, the described aspects include an indication of FD applicability of the UE and of at least one DL Tx-UL Rx beam pair via MsgA-PUSCH. A FD applicability confirmation via MsgB is also described.

[0041] By utilizing the described techniques, efficient FD operation for UE and wireless networks can be realized which can increase data transmission capabilities, reduce data latency, and increase accuracy of FD establishment between a UE and a wireless network.

[0042] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communications system.

[0043] Figure 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one or more NE 102, one or more UE 104, and a core network (CN) 106. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a NR network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultrawideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi), IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX), IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communications system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), or code division multiple access (CDMA), etc.

[0044] The one or more NE 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communications system 100. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0045] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc.) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN). In some implementations, different geographic coverage areasassociated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with different NE 102.

[0046] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. [0047] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0048] An NE 102 may support communications with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with other NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., SI, N2, N6, or other network interface). In some implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106). In some implementations, one or more NE 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs).

[0049] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC), or a 5G core (5GC), which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management functions (AMF)) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects toexternal networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)). In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc.) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NE 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0050] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an SI, N2, N6, or other network interface). The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session). The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106).

[0051] In the wireless communications system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers)) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications). In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures). The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0052] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., / r=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., / r=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., / r=l) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., / r=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., / r=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., / r=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0053] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames). Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0054] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., / r=0, jU=l , / r=2, / r=3, / r=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols). In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing), a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., / r=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0055] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz - 7.125 GHz), FR2 (24.25 GHz - 52.6 GHz), FR3 (7.125 GHz - 24.25 GHz), FR4 (52.6 GHz - 114.25 GHz),FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz - 71 GHz), and FR5 (114.25 GHz - 300 GHz). In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data). In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0056] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies). For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., / r=0), which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., / r=l), which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., / r=2), which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies). For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., / r=2), which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., / r=3), which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0057] According to implementations, one or more of the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 are operable to implement various aspects of the techniques described with reference to the present disclosure. For example, a NE 102 (e.g., a base station) transmits first signaling including Type 2 FD RA configuration information to a UE 104 that includes information for triggering and configuring a Type 2 FD RA procedure. Accordingly, if one or more conditions for the procedure occur, the UE 104 can trigger the Type 2 FD RA procedure and measure self-interference between at least one DL Rx candidate beam and at least one UL Tx candidate beam. The UE 104 can transmit second signaling including FD information to the NE 102 (e.g., via MsgA) which can include a selected candidate DL Tx-UL receive Rx beam pair, a result of the self-interference measurement, a FD applicability (e.g., capability) of the UE, etc. The NE 102 can transmit third signaling to the UE 104 including a confirmation of FD applicability between the NE 102 and the UE 104 and a selected DL Tx-UL receive Rx beam pair, which may or may not be the candidate DL Tx-UL receive Rx beam pair identified by the UE 104 in the previous transmission.

[0058] In some wireless communications systems and with reference to a random access procedure and prior to initiation of the physical random access procedure, Layer 1 can receive from higher layers a set of synchronization signal physical broadcast channel (SS / PBCH) block indexesand provide to higher layers a corresponding set of reference signal receive power (RSRP) measurements. Prior to initiation of the physical random access procedure, Layer 1 may receive from higher layers an indication to perform a Type- 1 random access procedure, as described in clauses 8.1 through 8.4, or a Type-2 random access procedure as described in clauses 8.1 through 8.2A of technical specification (TS) 38.213 V17.6.0 (2023-06).

[0059] Prior to initiation of the physical random access procedure, Layer 1 can receive the following information from the higher layers:• Configuration of PRACH transmission parameters (PRACH preamble format, time resources, and frequency resources for PRACH transmission).• Parameters for determining the root sequences and their cyclic shifts in the PRACH preamble sequence set (index to logical root sequence table, cyclic shift ( ^cs), and set type (unrestricted, restricted set A, or restricted set B)).

[0060] From the physical layer perspective, the Type-2 LI random access procedure can include the transmission of random access preamble in a PRACH and of a PUSCH (MsgA) and the reception of a random access response (RAR) message with a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) / physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) (MsgB), and when applicable, the transmission of a PUSCH scheduled by a fallback RAR UL grant, and PDSCH for contention resolution.

[0061] A physical random access procedure can be triggered upon request of a PRACH transmission by higher layers or by a PDCCH order. A configuration by higher layers for a PRACH transmission can include the following:• A configuration for PRACH transmission [TS 38.211].• A preamble index, a preamble subcarrier spacing (SCS), PPRACH, target, acorresponding RA- radio network temporary identifier (RNTI), and a PRACH resource.

[0062] A PRACH can be transmitted using the selected PRACH format with transmission power PpRACH,b,f,c(i)>asdescribed in clause 7.4, on the indicated PRACH resource. (TS 38.213 V17.6.0 (2023-06) Section 8.1).

[0063] For Type-2 random access procedure with common configuration of PRACH occasions with Type-1 random access procedure, a UE can be provided a number N of SS / PBCH blockindexes associated with one PRACH occasion by ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB- PreamblesPerSSB and a number Q of contention based preambles per SS / PBCH block index per valid PRACH occasion by msgA-CB-PreamblesPerSSB-PerSharedRO. The PRACH transmission can be on a subset of PRACH occasions associated with a same SS / PBCH block index within an SSB-RO mapping cycle for a UE provided with a PRACH mask index by msgA-SSB-SharedRO- Masklndex according to TS 38.321.

[0064] For Type-2 random access procedure with separate configuration of PRACH occasions with Type-1 random access procedure, a UE can be provided a number N of SS / PBCH block indexes associated with one PRACH occasion and a number R of contention based preambles per SS / PBCH block index per valid PRACH occasion by msgA-SSB-PerRACH-OccasionAndCB- PreamblesPerSSB when provided; otherwise, by ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB- PreamblesPerSSB.

[0065] For Type-2 random access procedure with common configuration of PRACH occasions with Type-1 random access procedure, if N < 1, one SS / PBCH block index is mapped to 1 / N consecutive valid PRACH occasions and Q contention based preambles with consecutive indexes associated with the SS / PBCH block index per valid PRACH occasion start from preamble index R. If N > 1, Q contention based preambles with consecutive indexes associated with SS / PBCH block index n, 0 < n < N — 1, per valid PRACH occasion start from preamble index n • Np^^jg / N + R, where Np^^jg can be provided by totalNumberOfRA-Preambles for Type-1 random access procedure.

[0066] SS / PBCH block indexes provided by ssb-PositionsInBurst in SIB 1 or in ServingCellConfigCommon can be mapped to valid PRACH occasions in the following order where the parameters are described in [TS 38.211].• First, in increasing order of preamble indexes within a single PRACH occasion.• Second, in increasing order of frequency resource indexes for frequency multiplexed PRACH occasions.• Third, in increasing order of time resource indexes for time multiplexed PRACH occasions within a PRACH slot.• Fourth, in increasing order of indexes for PRACH slots.

[0067] For a Type-2 random access procedure, a UE can transmit a PUSCH, when applicable, after transmitting a PRACH. The UE can encode a transport block provided for the PUSCH transmission using redundancy version number 0. The PUSCH transmission can be after the PRACH transmission by at least N symbols where N = 2 for p. = 0 or p. = 1, N = 4 for p. = 2 or p = 3, N = 16 for p = 5, N = 32 for p = 6, and p is the SCS configuration for the active UL bandwidth part (BWP).

[0068] A mapping between one or multiple PRACH preambles and a PUSCH occasion associated with a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) resource can be per PUSCH configuration provided by MsgA-PUSCH-Resource.

[0069] A UE can determine time resources and frequency resources for PUSCH occasions in an active UL BWP from msgA-PUSCH-Config or separateMsgA-PUSCH-Config for the active UL BWP. If the active UL BWP is not the initial UL BWP and msgA-PUSCH-Config or separateMsgA-PUSCH-Config is not provided for the active UL BWP, the UE can use the msgA- PUSCH-Config or separateMsgA-PUSCH-Config provided for the initial UL BWP.

[0070] A UE can be provided a DMRS configuration for a PUSCH transmission in a PUSCH occasion in an active UL BWP by msg A-DMRS -Config. A UE can be provided a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for data information in a PUSCH transmission for a PUSCH occasion by msgA-MCS.

[0071] A PUSCH occasion for PUSCH transmission can be defined by a frequency resource and a time resource, and can be associated with a DMRS resource. The DMRS resources can be provided by msgA-DMRS-Config.

[0072] In response to a transmission of a PRACH and a PUSCH, or to a transmission of only a PRACH if the PRACH preamble is mapped to a valid PUSCH occasion, a UE can attempt to detect a downlink control information (DO) format l_0 with cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by a corresponding MsgB-RNTI during a window controlled by higher layers [TS 38.321]. The window can start at the first symbol of the earliest control resource set (CORESET) the UE is configured to receive PDCCH for Typel-PDCCH common search space (CSS) set, as defined in clause 10.1, that is at least one symbol after the last symbol of the PUSCH occasion correspondingto the PRACH transmission, where the duration corresponds to the SCS for Typel-PDCCH CSS set.

[0073] If the UE detects that the DCI format l_0, with CRC scrambled by the corresponding MsgB-RNTI and LSBs of a system frame number (SFN) field in the DCI format l_0, if applicable, are same as corresponding LSBs of the SFN where the UE transmitted PRACH, and the UE receives a transport block in a corresponding PDSCH within the window, the UE can pass the transport block to higher layers. The higher layers can indicate to the physical layer:• an uplink grant if the RAR message(s) is for fallbackRAR and a random access preamble identity (RAPID) associated with the PRACH transmission is identified, and the UE procedure continues as described in clauses 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4 (TS 38.213 V17.6.0 (2023-06) when the UE detects a RAR UL grant, or• transmission of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-ACK information having ACK value if the RAR message(s) is for successRAR.

[0074] If the UE detects the DCI format l_0 with CRC scrambled by a C-RNTI and a transport block in a corresponding PDSCH within the window, the UE can transmit a PUCCH with HARQ- ACK information having ACK value if the UE correctly detects the transport block or NACK value if the UE incorrectly detects the transport block and the time alignment timer is running [TS 38.321],

[0075] If the UE detects a DCI format l_0 with CRC scrambled by the corresponding MsgB- RNTI and receives a transport block within the window in a corresponding PDSCH, the UE may assume same DM-RS antenna port quasi co-location properties (e.g., as described in TS 38.214) as for a SS / PBCH block the UE used for PRACH association, as described in clause 8.1, regardless of whether or not the UE is provided transmission configuration indicator (TCI)-State for the CORESET where the UE receives the PDCCH with the DCI format l_0.

[0076] Unless the UE is configured a SCS, the UE can receive subsequent PDSCH using same SCS as for the PDSCH reception providing the RAR message.

[0077] Figure 2 illustrates an example Type-2 RA procedure 200. The procedure 200, for instance, represents a 2-step RACH.

[0078] Figure 3 illustrates an example of a DL synchronization signal / PBCH block (SSB).

[0079] According to implementations, a wireless node (e.g., gNB, UE) is considered a FD capable if it is equipped with Tx and Rx radio frequency (RF) chains that can be used for simultaneous transmission and reception as well as it is capable of suppressing the self-interference to a certain level, e.g., below-or-equal-to the thermal noise power level. Self-interference suppression can be done via a combination of various techniques, e.g., antenna and frequencydomain isolation, analog and digital filtering techniques, etc.

[0080] Accordingly, aspects of the present disclosure provide for Tx-Rx beam pair establishment for a FD capable UE. For instance, in a Type-2 RA procedure, the UE can first transmit MsgA-PRACH followed by MsgA-PUSCH, and then receive MsgB using the Tx beam corresponding to the SSB Rx beam. To establish a FD communication mode with a NE, the UE may select at least one DE Tx - DL Rx beam pair for its DL reception and at least one UL Tx - UL Rx beam pair for its UL transmission, while considering the self-interference. Using the Type-2 RA procedure, this can be done by configuring the UE to transmit multiple MsgA-PRACH before transmitting MsgA-PUSCH, where each MsgA-PRACH uses an UL Tx candidate beam while the UE measures the associated self-interference using one or more of DL Rx candidate beam. Using the local self-interference measurements, the UE may select the best DL Rx - UL Tx beam pair and indicate the corresponding DL Tx-UL Rx beam pair to the NE via MsgA-PUSCH, implicitly and / or explicitly.

[0081] From the physical layer perspective, a FD-based Type-2 LI random access procedure can include the transmission of at least one random access preamble in a PRACH, measuring selfinterference power, and transmission of a PUSCH (MsgA) indicating the FD applicability of the UE and the at least one DL Tx - UL Rx beam pair having a self-interference power below a configured threshold. The procedure may also include the reception of a RAR message with a PDCCH / PDSCH (MsgB) indicating confirmation of the FD applicability and the indicated DL Tx - UL Rx beam pair and when applicable, the transmission of a PUSCH scheduled by a fallback RAR UL grant, and PDSCH for contention resolution.

[0082] Aspects of the present disclosure include a Type-2 FD RA procedure via multiple MsgA-PRACH transmissions. For instance, a FD-capable UE can receive a Type-2 FD RAprocedure configuration message from a NE, e.g., via SIB1 or via a DL control message. The configuration message can contain at least one DL RS (e.g., a plurality DL SSB Tx beams / blocks, CSLRS, etc.) each associated with one or more of RO resources and a preamble indexes set, one or more Type-2 ED RA procedure triggering conditions, a number of MsgA-PRACH message transmit occasions (e.g., M) mapped to each MsgA-PUSCH message (e.g., one-to-one or many-to-one mapping), a self-interference threshold, and combinations thereof.

[0083] In implementations a UE can use one or more configured and / or indicated Type-2 FD RA procedure triggering conditions to trigger the Type-2 FD RA procedure for establishing a FD communication mode with the said NE. The UE may use one or more selected UL Tx candidate beams to transmit one or more MsgA-PRACH messages and measure a resulting self-interference using one or more selected DL Rx candidate beams. The UE may then transmit MsgA-PUSCH after transmitting a last MsgA-PRACH with at least S symbols gap on a selected PUSCH Occasion using a selected UL Tx beam, e.g., an UL Tx candidate beam corresponding to a highest received power and / or a lowest self-interference.

[0084] In implementations the UE can transmit MsgA-PRACH messages according to the indicated number of MsgA-PRACH transmit occasions, e.g., M times as indicated in the configuration message. In some implementations the UE can stop transmitting the subsequent MsgA-PRACH messages if the UE detects that it found a candidate DL Rx - UL Tx beam pair having a self-interference power lower than the indicated threshold. In some implementations, the indicated self-interference threshold reflects or is determined based at least in part on a DL traffic quality-of-service (QoS), an UL traffic QoS, or a combination thereof.

[0085] In implementations the UE can indicate in MsgA-PUSCH whether it is FD applicable or FD applicability is not determined, e.g., using the local self-interference measurements. For example, the UE can determine it is a FD applicable if there is at least one DL Rx-UL Tx beam pair having a self-interference power below the indicated threshold. If the UE determines it is FD applicable, the UE can indicate in MsgA-PUSCH one or more DL Tx candidate beam indexes corresponding to the one or more selected DL Rx beams indexes, one or more UL Rx beams indexes corresponding to the one or more of selected UL Tx beams indexes, or a combination thereof. Further, each selected DL Rx-UL Tx beam pair can have a self-interference power below the indicated threshold. In some implementations the UE may indicate in MsgA-PUSCH theresulting self-interference power measurements corresponding to the indicated DL Tx-UL Rx beam pairs. Further, the positive FD applicability of the UE can be indicated implicitly by indicating at least one index for a DL Tx beam. A negative FD applicability of the UE can be indicated implicitly by not indicating an index for a DL Tx beam, and the index of at least one UL Rx beam can be indicated implicitly as the UL Rx beam index used by the NE to receive MsgA-PUSCH.

[0086] In implementations the UE can receive MsgB using the UL Tx beam used to transmit MsgA-PUSCH, and the MsgB may indicate whether the NE confirms the FD-applicability of the UE or not. For instance, the network may select and confirm an indicated DL Tx-UL Rx beam pair for FD communication with the UE, e.g., the beam pair having the highest received power at the NE and / or the lowest self-interference at UE and / or network. In at least some implementations the NE may reject the FD RA with the UE and may indicate to the UE via MsgB the selected DL Tx beam index or the selected UL Rx beam index to use for half-duplex communications.

[0087] Figure 4 illustrates an example signaling diagram 400 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The signaling diagram 400, for instance, illustrates signaling steps between an NE 102 and UE 104 as part of Type-2 FD-RA, e.g., 2-Step RACH.

[0088] In implementations an FD-capable NE (e.g., a gNB) can configure one or more DL SSB Bursts in a DL SSB Burst Set (e.g., in SIB 1) where each DL SSB Burst has one or more DL SSB Tx beams / blocks (e.g., L) and each DL SSB Tx beam / block can be associated with at least one RO resource and at least one preamble indexes set. The NE can transmit the DL SSB Burst set periodically with a time periodicity.

[0089] A FD-capable UE such as during its random / initial access phase can use one or more DL SSB Rx beams (e.g., K) to receive, measure, and store the received power of the one or more DL SSB Tx beams and decode their associated RO resources and preamble indexes sets. In at least some implementations the DL SSB Rx beams and their sweeping pattern can be indicated to the UE, e.g., via SIB1 and / or via a DL control message.

[0090] In implementations and using the measured and stored received power results of the one or more DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs, the UE can determine whether it is a FD-applicable candidate or not using one or more of the indicated triggering conditions. In at least some implementations, the triggering conditions may include one or more of:• C#1 : The received power of the DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs o For example, the UE can determine it is FD applicable if the received power of at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs fall above a predefined or an indicated threshold, e.g., via SIB 1 or via a DL control message.• C#2: The DL SSB Rx beams correspondence of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs satisfying C#1 o For example, the UE can determine it is FD applicable if the corresponding DL SSB Rx beams of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs satisfying C#1 are spatially different, e.g., to enforce UL / DL spatial direction separation at the UE.• C#3: The DL SSB Tx beams correspondence of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs satisfying C#1 o For example, the UE can determine it is FD applicable if the corresponding DL SSB Tx beams of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs satisfying C#1 are spatially different, e.g., to enforce UL / DL spatial direction separation at the NE.• C#4: The predicted self-interference power between the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair satisfying C#1 o For example, the UE can determine it is FD applicable if the predicted self-interference power between the DL Rx beams of the at least two DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs satisfying C#1 falls below the indicated threshold. The predicted self-interference power results can be obtained, for instance, during a calibration phase / process at the factory (e.g., as part of device manufacture) and / or obtained / updated online using a selfinterference measurement and prediction method, e.g., an artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) method.

[0091] In implementations if a UE determines it is not a FD applicable candidate and / or if instructed by the NE (e.g., implicitly by absence of Type-2 FD RA procedure configuration message and / or explicitly by an indication in the configuration message), the UE can trigger a halfduplex RA procedure to establish a half-duplex communication mode with the NE, e.g., using a legacy Type-2 initial access procedure.

[0092] In implementations if the UE determines it is a FD-applicable candidate and / or if instructed by the NE (e.g., implicitly by providing Type-2 FD RA procedure configuration message and / or explicitly by an indication in the configuration message), the UE can trigger a Type 2 FD RA procedure to establish a full-duplex communication mode with the NE. As part of this procedure the UE can first select at least one DL Rx candidate beam and one or more UL Tx candidate beams according to the indicated MsgA-PRACH to MsgA-PUSCH mapping (e.g., M).

[0093] In implementations the UE can use one or more of the indicated triggering conditions (e.g., one or more of C#1 to C#4) to select the at least one DL Rx candidate beam and the one or more UL Tx candidate beams, e.g., M.

[0094] In implementations the UE can select a first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair corresponding to the xth highest received power (e.g., applying C#l), where x = 1, 2, 3, K * L, and select a second DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair while ensuring one or more of C#1 to C#4 selection conditions are satisfied in accordance with the first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair. The UE can then select a third DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair while ensuring one or more of C#1 to C#4 selection conditions are satisfied in accordance with the first and the second DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs, and so on until it selects M + 1 DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs.

[0095] The UE then can use the DL SSB Rx beam corresponding to the first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair as its DL Rx beam and use the DL SSB Rx beams corresponding to the second, third, and so on until the M + 1 DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair as its M UL Tx candidate beams.

[0096] In implementations the UE can select a first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair corresponding to the xth highest received power (e.g., applying C#l), where x = 1, 2, 3, K * L, and select a second DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair while ensuring one or more of C#1 to C#4 selection conditions are satisfied in accordance with the first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair. The UE can form one or more of UL Tx beams by quantizing the angular range spanned by the DL SSB Rx beam corresponding to the second DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair, e.g., uniformly or non-uniformly. The UE can then use the DL SSB Rx beam corresponding to the first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair as its DL Rx beam and use the DL SSB Rx beam corresponding to the second DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair and the formed beam pairs as its M UL Tx candidate beams.

[0097] In implementations, if the UE determines it is a FD-applicable candidate (e.g., the UE triggers a Type 2 FD RA procedure), the UE can select a first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair using x = 2, so that x = 1 will be selected for UL communications. In implementations if the UE determines it is not a FD-applicable candidate (e.g., the UE triggers a legacy Type 2 RA procedure) the UE can select a first DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair using x = 1 and refrain from selecting a second or a third DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair.

[0098] Figure 5 illustrates an example scenario 500 for FD in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the scenario 500, a UE uses Rx SSB#2 as its UL Tx beam to transmit its first MsgA-PRACH encoded with a preamble index on a RO resources, both being associated with Tx SSB#3.

[0099] Figure 6 illustrates an example scenario 600 for FD in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the scenario 600 a UE uses Rx SSB#1 as its UL Tx beam to transmit its second MsgA-PRACH encoded with a preamble index on a RO resources, both being associated with Tx SSB#4.

[0100] In implementations for SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs and given the second SSB Tx-Rx beam pair, the third SSB Tx-Rx beam pair, and so on until the M + 1 DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pairs, a UE can select M preamble indexes and M ROs resources, where the mth preamble index and the mth RO resources are associated with the DL SSB Tx beam / block of the mth DL SSB Tx-Rx beam pair, and where m E {2, 3, M + 1} such as illustrated in the scenarios 500, 600.

[0101] In implementations, an UL Tx beam associated with the MsgA-PRACH and / or MsgA- PUSCH transmission corresponds to the SSB / CSI-RS Rx beam (e.g., a same spatial-domain transmission filter as the spatial-domain Rx filter) used to receive the selected (e.g., first) SSB / CSI- RS, e.g., a SSB, CSI-RS, and / or RSRP received above a threshold. Further, the UL Rx beam at the network node can correspond to a spatial receive filter used to receive the UL transmission (e.g., MsgA-PRACH and / or MsgA-PUSCH) associated with the selected SSB / CSI-RS. The DL Tx beam index can include a (e.g., second) SSB / CSI-RS index associated with the DL Rx beam used to receive the second SSB and / or CSLRS. The DL Rx beam can be selected to have a self-interference power below an indicated threshold and can be associated with the UL Tx beam for FD operation.

[0102] In implementations the DL Rx beam index and / or second SSB and / or CSI-RS index may be indicated in MsgA-PUSCH UL transmission, where the UL transmission can use the UL Tx beam. A UE may receive a PDCCH with DCI format in response to MsgA-PUSCH assuming the PDCCH carrying the DCI format has the same DMRS antenna port quasi co-location properties as the second SSB / CSI-RS, and thus can use the DL Rx beam.

[0103] In implementations a network node may indicate in a configuration message a candidate set of DL TCI states for target DL transmission associated with a PRACH occasion corresponding to the (e.g., first) SSB and / or CSI-RS. The DL TCI state may indicate a quasi-collocation relationship between the target DL transmission and a source reference signal (e.g., SSB and / or CSI-RS) with respect to quasi co-location type properties. The UE selects a second SSB and / or CSI- RS index (e.g., associated with a DL TCI state of the candidate set of DL TCI states) from the set of candidate source SSB and / or CSI-RS associated with the candidate set of DL TCI states. In at least one example, the UE may select a plurality of second SSB and / or CSI-RS indexes and / or DL TCI states indexes resulting in DL Rx beams that have a self-interference power below an indicated threshold associated with the UL Tx beam for ED operation, and may indicate the plurality of second SSB and / or CSI-RS indexes and / or DL TCLstate indexes in MsgA-PUSCH. The network node may indicate in MsgB and / or in a PDSCH subsequent to MsgA-PUSCH transmission, and / or in a corresponding PDCCH, a selected SSB and / or CSI-RS index and / or TCLstate index from the plurality of second SSB and / or CSI-RS indexes and / or TCLstate indexes to be used for DL transmission in ED operation with the UL Tx beam associated with the first SSB / CSLRS.
