Therefore, the examples should be understood based on the intended meaning of the terms, not simply their names or meanings.

[0026] Figure 1 illustrates a display driving device according to embodiments.

[0027] The display driving device and display driving method of Fig. 1 relate to a method for driving and controlling an organic light-emitting display device for OLED burn-in compensation.

[0028] The display driving method and device according to the embodiments may be referred to as a method / device according to the embodiments.

[0029] The embodiments can convert input image data of an OLED panel into current, generate deterioration data by reflecting the current acceleration coefficient and temperature acceleration coefficient, and accumulate the data. The accumulated deterioration data can be used to predict the lifespan of an OLED device, calculate the amount of OLED deterioration compensation, and provide compensation.

[0030] A display driving device according to embodiments may include the following components. Each component of FIG. 1 may correspond to hardware, software, a processor, and / or a combination thereof.

[0031] The input image unit (100) can acquire an input image. The input image unit (100) can transmit the input image to the compensation unit (200). The input image can be referred to in various ways, such as an image, image data, picture, or display data.

[0032] The compensation unit (200) can compensate for the input image. The deterioration compensation operation unit (201) of the compensation unit (200) can perform an operation to compensate for deterioration of the input image. The deterioration compensation operation unit (201) can be referred to as a first operation unit. The deterioration compensation operation unit (201) receives a deterioration compensation value from the memory controller unit (500) and can compensate for deterioration of the input image based on the deterioration compensation value. The deterioration compensation operation unit (201) transmits the deteriorated input image to the output image unit (300).

[0033] The accumulation unit (400) can accumulate information (data) for performing deterioration compensation. The accumulation unit (400) can include the following components.

[0034] The deterioration data extraction unit (401) can receive data related to deterioration compensation calculation from the deterioration compensation calculation unit (201). The deterioration data extraction unit (401) can receive a deterioration-compensated image from the deterioration compensation calculation unit (201). The deterioration data extraction unit (401) can extract deterioration data from the deterioration-compensated image.

[0035] The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) can receive panel sensing data and / or temperature sensor data from the display panel. The panel sensing data and / or temperature sensor data can be obtained from a sensor related to the display driving device, respectively. The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) can receive deterioration data extracted from the deterioration compensation calculation result from the deterioration data extraction unit (401). The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) can calculate a temperature acceleration coefficient from the deterioration data, panel sensing data, and / or temperature sensor data.

[0036] The deterioration data accumulation unit (403) can receive deterioration data and / or a temperature acceleration coefficient. It can receive past accumulation values from the memory controller unit (500). The deterioration data accumulation unit (403) can accumulate deterioration data based on the deterioration data and / or the temperature acceleration coefficient. It transmits the current accumulation value to the memory.

[0037] The deterioration compensation amount calculation unit (404) can receive the current accumulated value from the memory controller unit (500). The deterioration compensation amount calculation unit (404) can calculate the deterioration compensation value based on the current accumulated value.

[0038] The output image section (300) can output a deteriorated image.

[0039] The memory controller unit (500) can accumulate data regarding degradation compensation from the accumulation unit (400) and provide the accumulated value to the accumulation unit (400).

[0040] The memory (600, 700) can store deterioration data and provide the deterioration data to the accumulation unit through the memory controller unit.

[0041] Referring to Fig. 1, the degradation data extraction unit (401) extracts the image data from the input image unit as degradation data through the measured current conversion LUT. The extracted degradation data reflects the luminance difference (current difference) by location of a large-area panel by reflecting the CV (current variability) weight as follows: "deterioration data x CV weight" to reflect the luminance difference (current difference) by location. The CV weight is in the form of a map that represents the luminance difference (current difference) of a large-area panel in the form of n by m.

[0042] The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) receives deterioration data from the deterioration data extraction unit and analyzes deterioration temporally and spatially to predict the temperature at each location of a large-area panel. In addition, it receives panel temperature sensing data periodically or non-periodically to predict the temperature at each panel location. Since the sensing method is more accurate among these two methods, the temperature acceleration coefficient through deterioration data analysis is used while being periodically corrected. In addition, in the case of high temperatures, the global temperature acceleration coefficient is extracted and reflected as a temperature sensor data value to calculate an accurate temperature acceleration coefficient.

[0043] Each component of the display driving device of Fig. 1 is described in detail below with reference to each drawing.

[0044] Figure 2 shows an example of extracting deterioration data of a display driving device according to embodiments.

[0045] Figure 2 shows an example of extracting deterioration data of the display driving device of Figure 1.

[0046] The degradation data extraction unit (401) extracts the image data from the input image unit as degradation data through the measured current conversion LUT. The extracted degradation data reflects the luminance difference (current difference) by location of the large-area panel by reflecting the CV (current variability) weight as follows: "reference current data x CV weight = I". The CV weight is in the form of a map that represents the luminance difference (current difference) of the large-area panel in the form of n by m.

[0047] Referring to FIG. 2, the panel display area may include a plurality of areas. Each area may include a plurality of pixels. The display area may be expressed in the form of a CV weight map as described above. If there is a reference area and an area for the reference area, for example, as in FIG. 2, the difference in current values according to the location (area) may be calculated as in FIG. 2. The display driving device according to the embodiments may calculate degradation data, for example, a current value, for the reference area (reference area) for each (sub)area of the panel display area.

[0048] Figures 3, 4, and 5 illustrate examples of deterioration data extraction of a display driving device according to embodiments.

[0049] Figures 3 to 5 illustrate in detail the deterioration data extraction process described in Figure 2.

[0050] The deterioration data extraction unit (401) of the accumulation unit (400) of Fig. 1 may further include a current distribution weight generation unit (411) and a current distribution weight calculation unit (421).

[0051] The current distribution weight generation unit (411) improves the difficulty of extracting current values using a single LUT due to the problem of different current values for each pixel at each location. The current value for each panel area is measured during the manufacturing process to derive a reference current value (in the example, area 5 is selected as the reference current value).

[0052] The reference current value is used as an LUT value that converts input image data into a current value in the current conversion unit. It also becomes the reference current value for calculating the current distribution weighting value of each area (Formula 1 in Figure 5).

[0053] The current distribution weight can be generated in a 2D format to reflect the current distribution by panel location using Equation 2, thereby reflecting the deterioration characteristics by location.

[0054] Referring to Figure 3, the manufacturing process divides the panel area (1 to 9, example) and measures the current value of each area to generate a reference current and current values for each area.

[0055] Referring to FIG. 4, the current conversion unit LUT is used to process the reference current value and convert the input image data into a current value.

[0056] Referring to Figure 5, the current distribution weight is the reference current value (I refernce ) is calculated using (Formula 1 in Fig. 5). The current distribution by location is reflected by reflecting CV in the reference current value (Formula 2 in Fig. 5).

[0057] Figure 6 shows an example of extracting a temperature acceleration coefficient of a display driving device according to embodiments.

[0058] Fig. 6 shows in detail the temperature acceleration coefficient extraction operation of the display driving device of Fig. 1.

[0059] The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) analyzes the deterioration data temporally and spatially and extracts the deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient for each sub block (SBL) within the block (BL) using the deterioration data temperature LUT. The extracted deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient is reflected as a temperature factor in the deterioration data. In addition, the sensing temperature acceleration coefficient is extracted for each sub block line (SBLL) within the block (BL) using the sensing temperature acceleration coefficient LUT using the panel temperature sensing data periodically or aperiodically. The extracted sensing temperature acceleration coefficient corrects the deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient.

[0060] The corrected temperature acceleration coefficient is reflected in the deterioration data to more accurately reflect the amount of deterioration according to temperature.

[0061] And in the case of high temperature, the panel temperature sensing data is saturated and cannot be reflected, so the temperature factor is extracted using the temperature sensor data value to correct the temperature acceleration coefficient values, and the following "corrected temperature acceleration coefficient x global temperature acceleration coefficient = temperature acceleration coefficient" is reflected to reflect the amount of deterioration according to temperature in the deterioration data even in the case of high temperature.

[0062] Referring to FIG. 6, the method / device according to the embodiments can extract representative values for each region or block from degradation analysis data. A degradation temperature acceleration coefficient for each block can be extracted. A degradation temperature acceleration coefficient for each sub-block of a block can be calculated. By calculating the degradation temperature acceleration coefficient for each block, information regarding a low temperature region and / or a high temperature region can be obtained.

[0063] The method / device according to the embodiments can acquire panel sensing data using a temperature sensor or the like. Representative values for each line position can be extracted from the panel sensing data. A sensing temperature acceleration coefficient can be extracted for each line position (or can be referred to as an area, block, position, etc.). A sensing temperature acceleration coefficient can be extracted for each sub-position of the line.

[0064] The method / device according to the embodiments can extract a compensated temperature acceleration factor by compensating a block-by-block degradation temperature acceleration factor and / or a line-by-line sensing temperature acceleration factor. The compensated temperature acceleration factor can be extracted based on the block-by-block degradation temperature acceleration factor, the line-by-line sensing temperature acceleration factor, and / or the global temperature acceleration factor.

[0065] Figures 7 and 8 show examples of calculating temperature acceleration coefficients according to embodiments.

[0066] Figures 7 and 8 illustrate in detail the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation method described in Figure 6, etc.

[0067] The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) of the display driving device of Fig. 1 may further include a temperature sensor LUT (lookup table) unit (412), although this is not shown in Fig. 1.

[0068] Figures 7-8 are specific examples of the temperature sensor LUT (lookup table) section (412) of the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation section (402).

[0069] The temperature sensor LUT receives environmental temperature input from the temperature sensor and outputs a global temperature acceleration coefficient (Fig. 8 a).

[0070] The global temperature acceleration coefficient is used to reflect the degradation characteristics of OLEDs by temperature (Fig. 8 b) in the degradation data (Fig. 7 Equation 1), and the OLED efficiency can be predicted by the accumulated value of the degradation data (Fig. 7 Equation 2) reflecting the global temperature acceleration coefficient (GTW) to accurately compensate for the degradation characteristics by temperature.

[0071] The method / device according to the embodiments can calculate deterioration data based on deterioration data for each xy location and a global temperature acceleration coefficient (Equation 1 in FIG. 7). The method / device according to the embodiments can calculate an accumulated deterioration data value by accumulating and summing the deterioration data.

[0072] The global temperature acceleration coefficient is measured experimentally by measuring the OLED degradation characteristics by temperature (Fig. 8 b) and using the values calculated according to Equations 3 to 6 in Fig. 7.

[0073] The output value is used as LUT data, and the LUT data must be managed as OLED process parameters to reflect variations in OLED elements.

[0074] of the formula 50 means the time when the initial brightness has dropped by 50%.

[0075] Methods / devices according to the embodiments are t 50 The accumulated value of the degradation data is the degradation data, t 50 , can be calculated based on the reference global temperature acceleration coefficient.

[0076] The results of applying the temperature-dependent deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient by the method / device according to the embodiments are as shown in Fig. 8c. The method / device according to the embodiments can obtain temperature deterioration characteristics for each temperature, for example, 37 degrees, 47 degrees, and 58 degrees, and calculate the temperature-dependent deterioration data accumulation value as in the equations in Fig. 7.

[0077] Figures 9 and 10 show deterioration data analysis according to embodiments.

[0078] Figures 9-10 illustrate the operation of the deterioration data analysis unit (462) and the deterioration data temperature LUT (lookup table) unit (472) of the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) of the display driving device according to the embodiments of Figure 1. Although not illustrated in Figure 1, the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) may further include the deterioration data analysis unit (462) and the deterioration data temperature LUT (lookup table) unit (472).

[0079] Figures 9-10 are specific examples of the deterioration data analysis unit (462) and the deterioration data temperature LUT (lookup table) unit (472) of the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402).

[0080] The deterioration data analysis unit analyzes the deterioration data using Equation 1 of Fig. 9 and predicts the temperature using the analyzed value (Fig. 10 b).

[0081] The predicted temperature outputs the deterioration data temperature acceleration coefficient through the deterioration data temperature acceleration coefficient LUT (Fig. 10 c).

[0082] The deterioration data temperature acceleration coefficient reflects the global temperature acceleration coefficient by environmental temperature (Equation 2 and Equation 3 in Fig. 9) and reflects the temperature characteristics of each pixel of the panel.

[0083] The temperature acceleration coefficient predicts the temperature of each pixel, reflecting the degradation characteristics of OLED according to the temperature at each panel location, and predicts the efficiency of large-area OLED display elements, allowing for accurate compensation of the temperature-dependent degradation characteristics of large-area displays.

[0084] The xy in the formula is the coordinate information of the panel.

[0085] The method / device according to the embodiments calculates a deterioration data analysis value based on the deterioration data calculated as described above using an analysis function (Equation 1 of FIG. 9). The method / device according to the embodiments calculates deterioration data from the data temperature weighting (DTW) and the global temperature acceleration coefficient, and deterioration data at each temperature, for example, 25 degrees and 35 degrees (Equations 2 to 3 of FIG. 9). As shown in FIG. 10, the method / device according to the embodiments can calculate a deterioration data analysis value.

[0086] Figures 11 and 12 illustrate sensing data analysis according to embodiments.

[0087] Figures 11 and 12 show the sensing data analysis process of the temperature acceleration coefficient (402) of Figure 1.

[0088] The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) may further include a sensing data temperature lookup table (LUT) unit (442), although this unit is not illustrated in FIG. 1. FIGS. 11-12 are specific examples of the sensing data temperature lookup table (LUT) unit (442).

[0089] The sensing data analysis unit (432) analyzes the change in sensing data by position of the panel (Formula 1 in FIG. 11) to predict the temperature (FIG. 12 c).

[0090] The predicted temperature by location of the panel can be used to correct the temperature acceleration coefficient of the deterioration data extracted in advance as deterioration data to reflect more accurate temperature characteristics (Fig. 12 d).

[0091] The temperature acceleration coefficient can be corrected to predict the temperature of each pixel in real time using the temperature predicted by the deterioration data.

[0092] However, errors may occur. To improve this problem, the predicted temperature error for each panel pixel can be corrected with periodic or non-periodical panel sensing data to extract a corrected temperature acceleration coefficient, thereby predicting and compensating for more accurate OLED efficiency.

[0093] The method / device according to the embodiments can be obtained by sensing the panel temperature as in Fig. 11 a. Initial time (t0) and n time (t n ) The difference in panel sensing data according to the time difference can be obtained (Fig. 11, Equation 1). The deterioration data can be calculated based on the location-specific deterioration data, sensing data temperature weighting (SDTW), and global temperature acceleration coefficient (Fig. 11, Equation 2). The deterioration data can be accumulated and added to calculate the accumulated deterioration data value (Fig. 11, Equation 3).

[0094] Referring to Fig. 11 a, it can be seen that the difference in sensing data varies by location. Referring to Figs. 12 c and d, it can be seen that the temperature increases with the amount of change in sensing data, and the temperature acceleration coefficient increases with the temperature.

[0095] Next, referring to FIG. 1, the operation of the OLED deterioration compensation unit (200) and the deterioration data accumulation unit (400) for OLED burn-in compensation according to embodiments will be described.

[0096] A degradation compensation operation unit (201) that receives external input image data from an input image unit (100) and compensates for OLED degradation, an output image unit (300) that outputs compensated image data, this is called a compensation data path. An OLED degradation data accumulation unit (400) that accumulates degradation data for a degradation compensation amount, and a memory controller unit (500) and memory (600, 700) for storing the accumulated value, this can be called an accumulation data path.

[0097] The compensation unit (200) includes an OLED compensation operation unit (201). The compensation operation is performed as follows: image data x OLED deterioration compensation amount = compensated image data, and is output to the output image unit.

[0098] The accumulation unit (400) accumulates degradation data for the OLED degradation compensation amount. The degradation data extraction unit (401) converts the degradation data into a current value through the current LUT (Fig. 13 a) to accumulate the degradation data. The current LUT measures the current value of the panel in the process and uses the current value measured for each panel. However, since the amount of degradation is different for each current, the current data reflecting the current acceleration coefficient (Fig. 13 b) is used when generating the current LUT to convert the input image data into a current value reflecting the current acceleration coefficient, i.e., degradation data.

[0099] The current acceleration coefficient is a value that extracts the characteristics of the panel through a degradation experiment for each current value and is managed as an OLED process parameter.

[0100] Figure 13 shows the current LUT, current-specific degradation characteristics, current acceleration coefficient, and current acceleration coefficient-reflected degradation characteristics according to embodiments.

[0101] Figure 13 shows the operation of the compensation unit and accumulation unit described in Figures 11-12.

[0102] Current LUT (Fig. 13 a): This is an LUT that converts image data (grayscale data) into current. The current value is measured for each panel and the current value (current value x current acceleration coefficient) reflecting the current acceleration coefficient obtained through the current-specific degradation characteristics is stored.

[0103] Current-dependent degradation characteristics (Fig. 13 b): To calculate the current acceleration coefficient, the current-dependent OLED degradation characteristics are extracted under the same temperature conditions.

[0104] Current Acceleration Coefficient (Fig. 13 c): The current acceleration coefficient is calculated by regression analysis of the OLED degradation characteristics by current. The calculated current acceleration coefficient is reflected in the current value by grayscale of the panel, thereby reflecting the OLED degradation characteristics by current.

[0105] Degradation characteristics reflecting current acceleration coefficient (Fig. 13 d): OLED degrading characteristics by current are reflected, so that efficiency can be predicted with degrading data.

[0106] Referring to Figure 1, the operation of the deterioration data accumulation unit (403) is described.

[0107] The deterioration data accumulation unit (403) extracts input image data as deterioration data and reflects the amount of deterioration according to temperature in the deterioration data (current value). Then, the deterioration data is accumulated by adding the deterioration data to the past accumulated value, and the accumulated value is stored in the memory (600, 700) through the memory controller unit.

[0108] The accumulated value is stored and used in volatile memory (600) during operation, and is preserved by storing it in non-volatile memory (700) before power is turned off.

[0109] The temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) receives deterioration data, panel temperature sensing data, and temperature sensor data values, and extracts the temperature acceleration coefficient through temperature LUT through spatiotemporal analysis inside / outside the panel.

[0110] By analyzing the degradation data by panel location, the degradation temperature acceleration coefficient is extracted at the sub-block level using the degradation data temperature LUT, and the extracted degradation temperature acceleration coefficient is used to calculate the amount of change through the panel temperature sensing data (all or part) input periodically or non-periodically, and the sensing temperature acceleration coefficient value at the line level is extracted through the sensing data temperature LUT as the calculated value.

[0111] The sub-block unit degradation temperature acceleration coefficient is corrected by referring to the extracted line unit sensing temperature acceleration coefficient.

[0112] The corrected temperature acceleration coefficient is calculated by reflecting the global temperature acceleration coefficient as follows: corrected temperature acceleration coefficient x global temperature acceleration coefficient = temperature acceleration coefficient.

[0113] The global temperature acceleration coefficient is used to reflect the amount of deterioration at high temperatures. High temperatures cannot be determined by deterioration data, and panel temperature sensing data is saturated and cannot be determined, so a temperature sensor is used to extract the global temperature coefficient and reflect the deterioration effect of high temperatures when accumulating deterioration data.

[0114] Figure 14 shows the deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient, sensing temperature acceleration coefficient, and sensor temperature acceleration coefficient according to embodiments.

[0115] The deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient (a) predicts the temperature of each panel block by analyzing the deterioration data spatiotemporally and averaging the values. The predicted deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient is then used to derive the pixel-level temperature acceleration coefficient (d) using interpolation (if all deterioration data is analyzed and used, the temperature acceleration coefficient can be derived without interpolation).

[0116] The sensing temperature acceleration coefficient (b) analyzes the sensing data in time and space to calculate the change amount per line and predict the temperature per line. The predicted sensing temperature acceleration coefficient uses interpolation to calculate the pixel-level temperature acceleration coefficient (e). The sensing pixel-level temperature acceleration coefficient compensates for the deterioration temperature acceleration coefficient to calculate the corrected pixel temperature acceleration coefficient (f) (If the panel temperature sensing data of all pixels is analyzed and used, the temperature acceleration coefficient can be calculated without interpolation).

[0117] The global temperature acceleration coefficient (c) is extracted from temperature sensor data because temperature cannot be predicted from deterioration data and sensing data in high-temperature environments. This global temperature acceleration coefficient is multiplied by the compensated pixel temperature acceleration coefficient to produce the temperature acceleration coefficient (g), which reflects the amount of deterioration at high temperatures.

[0118] Referring to Fig. 1, the operation of the degradation compensation amount calculation unit (404) is described. The degradation compensation amount calculation unit (404) calculates a degradation compensation value based on the current accumulated value. The degradation compensation value is extracted using the current accumulated value through the OLED degradation model LUT. The OLED degradation model LUT must be managed as an OLED process parameter. In other words, since the OLED degradation model changes due to process fluctuations, it must be periodically extracted and calculated for management.

[0119] The generated degradation compensation value is stored in memory through the memory controller and transmitted to the degradation compensation unit (200) when outputting an image to perform compensation calculation.

[0120] Figure 15 shows the deterioration data extraction operation according to embodiments.

[0121] Figure 15 explains the operation of the deterioration data extraction unit (401) of Figure 1.

[0122] The current distribution weight generation unit (411) determines the location based on the data enable signal and generates a location current distribution weight value.

[0123] The current distribution weight is calculated through the current distribution weight calculation unit (421) to improve the current difference (luminance difference).

[0124] The deterioration data accumulation unit (403) reflects the deterioration amount according to temperature into the deterioration data using the temperature acceleration coefficient obtained through the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402). The reflected deterioration data reads the past accumulated value stored in the memory and receives the past accumulated value through the memory controller unit (500). The deterioration data is added to the input past accumulated value to accumulate the current accumulated value. The accumulated value is stored in the memory (600, 700) using the memory controller unit. The memory (600, 700) uses either a non-volatile memory or a volatile memory depending on the operation.

[0125] The thermal data extraction unit (401) can receive a data enable signal and, based on the signal, perform a current distribution weight generation operation. The current distribution weight generation unit (411) can generate current distribution weights as shown in FIGS. 3 to 5. The current distribution weights can be provided to the current distribution weight calculation unit (421).

[0126] The current conversion unit (431) receives an input image from the input image unit (100). The current conversion unit (431) converts the input image into a current. As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the current conversion can be performed based on an LUT.

[0127] The current distribution weight calculation unit (421) applies the current distribution weight as shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 to improve the current difference (luminance difference). The deterioration data accumulation unit (403) receives the temperature acceleration coefficient from the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402). As described above, the deterioration data accumulation unit (403) generates a current accumulation value, i.e., a deterioration data accumulation value, based on the deterioration data, the temperature acceleration coefficient, and the past accumulation value for which the current distribution weight is calculated for the input image. The accumulation value is stored in the memory (600, 700) by the memory controller unit (500) and can be called.

[0128] Figure 16 shows the operation of calculating the temperature acceleration coefficient according to embodiments.

[0129] Figure 16 shows the operation of the temperature acceleration coefficient calculation unit (402) of Figure 1.

[0130] The deterioration data spatiotemporal analysis unit (462) receives deterioration data, analyzes time and space, and calculates the average value of deterioration data per sub-block. The calculated average value of deterioration data per sub-block extracts the sub-block temperature acceleration coefficient using the deterioration data temperature LUT unit, and outputs the temperature acceleration coefficient per deterioration pixel through interpolation in the pixel-unit temperature acceleration coefficient unit (482).

[0131] The sensing data spatiotemporal analysis unit (432) analyzes the amount of change in panel temperature sensing data to extract a temperature acceleration coefficient per line. The extracted temperature acceleration coefficient per line is also used to output a temperature acceleration coefficient per sensing pixel using an interpolation method and to correct a temperature acceleration coefficient per deteriorated pixel, thereby reflecting the accurate temperature deterioration influence of the panel.

[0133] The global temperature acceleration coefficient is a coefficient used to reflect the temperature deterioration influence of high temperature conditions that cannot be determined by sensing data and deterioration data. It is reflected in the corrected deterioration pixel unit temperature acceleration coefficient and used as a temperature acceleration coefficient when accumulating deterioration data.
