Description

METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR AN L1 / L2-TRIGGERED MOBILITY (LTM) WITH A FAST MASTER CELL GROUP (MCG) LINK RECOVERY PROCEDURE AND A CONDITIONAL HANDOVER (CHO) PROCEDURETECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to wireless communications, and more specifically to methods and apparatuses for an L1 / L2-Triggered Mobility (LTM) with a fast master cell group (MCG) link recovery procedure and a conditional handover (CHO) procedure. LTM may also be named as lower layer-Triggered Mobility or the like.BACKGROUND

[0002] A wireless communications system may include one or multiple network communication devices, such as a base stations (BS) , which may support wireless communications for one or multiple user communication devices, which may be otherwise known as user equipment (UE) , or other suitable terminology. The wireless communications system may support wireless communications with one or multiple user communication devices by utilizing resources of the wireless communication system (e.g. time-domain resources (e.g. symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency-domain resources (e.g. subcarriers, carriers, or the like) . Additionally, the wireless communications system may support wireless communications across various radio access technologies including third generation (3G) radio access technology, fourth generation (4G) radio access technology, fifth generation (5G) radio access technology, among other suitable radio access technologies beyond 5G (e.g. sixth generation (6G) ) .

[0003] LTM is a procedure in which a network equipment (e.g. gNB) receives layer 1 (L1) measurement report (s) from a UE, and the network equipment (e.g. gNB) changes UE’s serving cell by an LTM cell switch command. LTM may also be named as a layer 1 / layer 2 (L1 / L2) lower layer-Triggered Mobility or the like. An LTM primary cell (PCell) switch procedure from a source cell (or source PCell) to a target cell (or target PCell) may also be named as a master cell group (MCG) LTM procedure. An LTM primary secondary cell group cell (PSCell) switch procedure from a source PSCell to a target PSCell may also be named as a secondary cell group (SCG) LTM procedure.

[0004] The purpose of a fast MCG link recovery procedure is to inform a radio link failure (RLF) in a MCG to a master node (MN) via a secondary node (SN) connected to a UE, such that the UE in RRC_CONNECTED state may initiate the fast MCG link recovery procedure to quickly continue the RRC connection without performing a re-establishment procedure.

[0005] CHO is defined as a handover that is executed by a UE when CHO execution conditions for one or more handover are met. The UE starts evaluating the one or more CHO execution conditions upon receiving the CHO configuration information (e.g. including one or more configurations associated candidate PCell (s) and one or more CHO execution conditions) , and stops evaluating the CHO execution conditions during the CHO execution or once the one or more CHO execution conditions are met or fulfilled. The CHO execution means that when CHO execution condition (s) of a candidate PCell is satisfied or fulfilled, the UE decides the candidate PCell as a target PCell, and performs a PCell change or handover procedure with the target PCell, e.g. the UE performs a random access (RA) procedure towards the target PCell.SUMMARY

[0062] In general, when a UE moves from one cell to another cell, at some point a serving cell change needs to be performed. In the legacy, the serving cell change is done by explicit RRC reconfiguration signalling (e.g. a handover (HO) command) to trigger the synchronization of a target cell based on Layer-3 (L3) measurements report. It leads to longer latency, larger overhead, and longer interruption time than beam level mobility. Therefore, in 3GPP, LTM was approved to change a serving cell via L1 / L2 signalling, in order to reduce the latency, overhead and interruption time.

[0063] LTM is a procedure in which a BS receives L1 measurement report (s) from a UE, and on their basis the BS changes UE’s serving cell by a cell switch command signaled via a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) , e.g. LTM cell switch command MAC CE or LTM Command MAC CE. The LTM cell switch command indicates a target cell index  for LTM e.g. an LTM candidate cell configuration ID that the BS previously prepared and provided to the UE through RRC signalling. Then the UE switches to the target cell according to the cell switch command. The LTM procedure can be used to reduce the mobility latency.

[0064] When configured by the network, it is possible to activate transmission configuration indication (TCI) states of one or multiple cells that are different from the current serving cell. For instance, the TCI states of the LTM candidate cells can be activated in advance before any of those cells become the serving cell. This allows the UE to be downlink (DL) synchronized with those cells, thereby facilitating a faster cell switch to one of those cells when cell switch is triggered.

[0065] "LTM candidate cell" refers to a candidate cell configured to the UE for LTM. There may be multiple LTM candidate cells prepared for the UE, where the LTM candidate cells may belong to the same or different candidate DUs.

[0066] "LTM candidate configuration" refers to a configuration part of an RRC Reconfiguration message associated with a candidate cell, e.g. for LTM. A candidate configuration can be a complete candidate configuration or a delta configuration. The delta configuration applied by UE is on top of a reference configuration.

[0067] "LTM reference configuration" refers to a configuration provided by the network to the UE that is common, within the same cell group, to a group of configured non-complete candidate configurations.

[0068] "L1 / L2 Triggered Mobility" refers to a cell switch procedure that the network triggers via MAC CE based on L1 measurements.

[0069] "RACH-less LTM" refers to an LTM cell switch procedure where UE skips the random access procedure. And the UE is aware of a TA value already.

[0070] "Subsequent LTM" refers to an LTM cell switch procedures between candidate cells without RRC reconfiguration by the network in between. In some cases, subsequent LTM may be supported. Subsequent LTM means subsequent LTM cell switch procedures between LTM candidate cells where a UE does not need to be reconfigured by the network in between.

[0071] A MCG LTM is a PCell switch procedure that the network triggers via a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) based on L1 measurements. SCG LTM is a PSCell switch procedure that the network triggers via a MAC CE based on L1 measurements. The potential applicable scenarios of LTM include "intra-CU intra-DU LTM, " "intra-CU inter-DU LTM, " and "inter-CU LTM" as described below.

[0072] (1) Intra-CU intra-DU LTM / mobility: a UE moves between different cells within a DU.

[0073] (2) Intra-CU inter-DU LTM / mobility: a UE moves between different cells belonging to different DUs but within a CU.

[0074] (3) Inter-CU LTM / mobility: a UE moves between different cells belonging to different DUs different CUs.

[0075] In a MCG LTM procedure or an LTM PCell switch procedure from a source cell (or source PCell) to a target cell (or target PCell) in a dual connectivity (DC) scenario, a node which generates an RRC Reconfiguration message for the MCG LTM switch procedure or the LTM PCell switch procedure, or which determines to initiate MCG LTM may be an MN or a CU of the MN.

[0076] In a SCG LTM procedure or an LTM PSCell switch procedure from a source PSCell to a target PSCell in a DC scenario, a node which generates an RRC Reconfiguration message for the SCG LTM switch procedure or the LTM PSCell switch procedure, or which determines to initiate SCG LTM may be an MN or an SN or a CU of the MN or a CU of the SN, furthermore, the SN may be a node to which the serving PSCell or source PSCell belongs (e.g. a source SN) , or the SN may be a node to which the target PSCell for LTM belongs (e.g. a target SN) .

[0077] Currently, for analysis of connection failures, a UE may indicate to the network that failure information is available. The UE stores the latest failure information for reporting, including both LTE and NR RLF report until the failure information is fetched by the network or for 48 hours after the connection failure is detected. For example, the UE only indicates the failure information availability and only provides an RLF report including the failure information to the network if the current RPLMN is a PLMN that was present in the UE's EPLMN List or was the RPLMN at the time the connection failure was detected. In case an RLF happens in an E-UTRA cell, the UE may indicate to NG-RAN nodes and eNB (s) that  the failure information is available, and in case an RLF happens in an NR cell, the UE may indicate to gNB (s) that the NR failure information is available. If an RLF Report including the failure information is reported to a NG-RAN node, and the last serving node is an E-UTRAN node, the NG-RAN node may transfer it to the E-UTRAN node by triggering the Uplink RAN configuration transfer procedure over NG and the E-UTRAN node can take this into account as defined in 3GPP TS 36.300 [2] .

[0078] In general, one of the functions of Mobility Robustness Optimization (MRO) is to detect a sub-optimal successful handover event. The aim is to identify underlying conditions during successful ordinary handovers, successful DAPS handovers, or successful Conditional handovers. For analysis of successful handover, a UE may collect successful handover information based on configuration by network, and if stored, the UE may indicates to the network that the successful handover information is available as specified in 3GPP standard document TS 38.331.

[0079] For the successful handover information collected during intra-NR handover, if the target new radio (NR) node fetches the successful handover information from the UE, it may forward a SHR including the successful handover information to the source NR node, i.e. the node handling the cell reported as source cell in this SHR, by using the ACCESS AND MOBILITY INDICATION message over Xn or by means of the Uplink RAN configuration transfer procedure and Downlink RAN configuration transfer procedure over NG. If the NG-RAN node that fetches the successful handover information from the UE is neither the source node nor the target node of the handover, it forwards a SHR including the successful handover information to the node (s) which configured the SHR trigger causing the SHR to be generated, by using the ACCESS AND MOBILITY INDICATION message over Xn or by means of the Uplink RAN configuration transfer procedure and Downlink RAN configuration transfer procedure over NG. Upon retrieval of the SHR including the successful handover information, the receiving node may analyse whether its mobility configuration needs adjustment.

[0080] In this disclosure, cell information includes PLMN-Identity, Cell Identity and TrackingAreaCode of the cell, or includes configuration ID of the cell, or includes PCI and carrier frequency information (e.g. ARFCN) . The "successful cell change" refers to the UE's state, namely a successful completion of a random access (RA) procedure.

[0081] One objective for mobility enhancements in 3GPP Rel-18 is to specify an LTM procedure (i.e. a PCell or PSCell switch procedure triggered by the network via MAC CE based on L1 measurement) . Currently, following issues regarding an LTM procedure need to be considered, including, e.g.: whether a SCG LTM cell switch is allowed while a fast MCG failure recovery procedure is ongoing; what is a UE's behavior if receiving a SCG LTM cell switch command while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running, and what is an enhancement for MRO for a fast MCG link recovery procedure; whether an LTM based recovery and a CHO based recovery are allowed, and what information should be reported if one of the LTM based recovery and the CHO based recovery is selected for recovery; whether LTM configuration and conditional configuration can be configured for the same candidate cell; regarding a RACH-less LTM, what is a UE's behavior if "TAT for early TA" or "TAT for UE based measurement TA" expires before a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires; and what is a solution for a feature of LTM configured with two TA values, and how to understand the applicable TAG. However, details regarding a MRO for LTM have not been discussed yet.

[0082] Embodiments of the present disclosure aim to resolve the abovementioned issues. For example, some embodiments design a case that both a timer for fast MCG link recovery (e.g. T316) and a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for SCG LTM are running in parallel, and a UE will not receive a response (e.g. a handover command) from a MN when the mobility timer for SCG LTM is running, and once the mobility timer expires while the timer for fast MCG link recovery is still running, the UE may perform a re-establishment procedure directly. Some embodiments design assistant information which may be reported for a failure case. Some embodiments design a case that a UE performs a re-establishment procedure directly if receiving a SCG LTM cell switch command while a timer for fast MCG link recovery (e.g. T316) is running. Some other embodiments design a case that both an LTM based recovery and a CHO based recovery are allowed, for example, LTM configuration and CHO configuration may be configured for the same candidate cell. Some embodiments design assistant information which may be reported for a failure case and a successful case. Some embodiments design a case of a RACH-less LTM in which "TAT for early TA" or "TAT for UE based measurement TA" expires before a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires. Some embodiments design a case of a feature of LTM configured with two TA values, in which a UE may determine a TAG ID based on the mapping from a TCI state to a TAG ID, and the  TCI state or the TAG ID may be reported for self-optimization (SON) purpose, e.g. a failed LTM cell switch or a successful LTM cell switch. The feature of LTM configured with two TA values can be a SCG LTM cell switch and a MCG LTM cell switch.

[0083] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, an inter-CU LTM may also be named as inter-gNB LTM, inter-BS LTM, or the like. An intra-CU LTM may also be named as intra-gNB LTM, intra-BS LTM, or the like. An LTM procedure may also be named as "an LTM cell switch procedure, " "an LTM cell switching procedure, " or the like. An LTM based recovery is an LTM cell switch procedure following the cell selection performed by the UE while a timer for cell selection (e.g. T311) is running. A CHO based recovery is a CHO procedure following the cell selection performed by the UE while a timer for cell selection (e.g. T311) is running.

[0084] More details of the embodiments of the present disclosure will be illustrated in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0087] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g. voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) . In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with different NE 102.

[0088] The one or more UE 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0089] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0090] An NE 102 may support communications with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with other NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g. S1, N2, or network interface) . In some implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g. via the CN 106. In some implementations, one or more NE 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0091] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g. a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g. a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g. data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NE 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0092] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g. via an S1, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g. a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g. control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g. the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g. one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0093] In the wireless communications system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g. time resources (e.g. symbols,  slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g. subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g. wireless communications) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0094] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g. μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g. 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g. μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g. 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g. μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g. 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g. μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g. 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g. μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g. 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g. μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g. 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0095] A time interval of a resource (e.g. a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0096] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g. a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g. quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For  instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g. quantity) of symbols (e.g. OFDM symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g. quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g. applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g. μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g. 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0097] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g. control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0130] The controller 406 may manage input and output signals for the NE 400. The controller 406 may also manage peripherals not integrated into the NE 400. In some implementations, the controller 406 may utilize an operating system such as or other operating systems. In some implementations, the controller 406 may be implemented as part of the processor 402.

[0131] In some implementations, the NE 400 may include at least one transceiver 408. In some other implementations, the NE 400 may have more than one transceiver 408. The transceiver 408 may represent a wireless transceiver. The transceiver 408 may include one or more receiver chains 410, one or more transmitter chains 412, or a combination thereof. The means for receiving or the means for transmitting abovementioned in the processor 402 may be implemented via at least one transceiver 408.

[0132] A receiver chain 410 may be configured to receive signals (e.g. control information, data, packets) over a wireless medium. For example, the receiver chain 410 may include one or more antennas for receive the signal over the air or wireless medium. The receiver chain 410 may include at least one amplifier (e.g. a low-noise amplifier (LNA) ) configured to amplify the received signal. The receiver chain 410 may include at least one demodulator configured to demodulate the receive signal and obtain the transmitted data by reversing the modulation technique applied during transmission of the signal. The receiver chain 410 may include at least one decoder for decoding the processing the demodulated signal to receive the transmitted data.

[0134] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the components in exemplary NE 400 may be changed, for example, some of the components in exemplary NE 400 may be omitted or modified or new component (s) may be added to exemplary NE 400, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure. For example, in some embodiments, the NE 400 may not include the controller 406.

[0135] Figure 5 illustrates a flowchart of a method related to an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method may be implemented by a UE as described herein. In some implementations, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control the function elements of the UE to perform the described functions. In some implementations, aspects of operations 502, 504 and 506 may be performed by UE 200 as described with reference to Figure 2. Each of operations 502-506 may be performed in accordance with examples as described herein. Specific examples are described in the embodiments of Figures 9 and 10 as follows.

[0136] At operation 502, the method may include receiving, by a UE, LTM configuration information for SCG (which may be named as "SCG LTM configuration" or the like) related to one or more LTM candidate cells.

[0137] At operation 504, the method may include initiating or triggering a fast MCG link recovery procedure by the UE upon detecting an RLF on MCG. In some cases, the fast MCG link recovery procedure may be initiated or triggered before receiving an LTM cell switch command for SCG, i.e. a SCG LTM cell switch command. In some other cases, the fast MCG link recovery procedure may be initiated or triggered after receiving the LTM cell switch command for SCG.

[0138] In some implementations of the method, the UE may receive the LTM cell switch command for SCG, and execute a SCG LTM cell switch towards an LTM candidate cell (denoted as LTM candidate cell #1 for simplicity) within the one or more LTM candidate  cells. The UE may also start a mobility timer (e.g. T304) , which may be named as "a handover timer" or the like.

[0139] In some implementations of the method, in response to initiating the fast MCG link recovery procedure, the UE may start a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (which may be named as "a timer for MCG link recovery procedure" or "a timer related to MCG failure information" or the like, e.g. T316) , and transmit a message related to the RLF on MCG (e.g. a MCG Failure Information message) to a MN via a SN.

[0140] In an implementation, the mobility timer (e.g. T304) is started before starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) . In another implementation, the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is started before starting the mobility timer (e.g. T304) , and the LTM cell switch command for SCG may be received by the UE when the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running.

[0141] At operation 506, the method may include initiating a reestablishment procedure by the UE if a failure related to the fast MCG link recovery procedure occurs or a failure related to a SCG LTM cell switch occurs. In some implementations, the reestablishment procedure is initiated or triggered in a case that a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running (e.g. T316) . In some other implementations, the reestablishment procedure is initiated or triggered in a case that a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires while a mobility timer (e.g. T304) is running.

[0142] In some implementations, the UE may store assistant information related to the fast MCG link recovery procedure (denoted as assistant information #1) in response to the occurrence of the failure related to the fast MCG link recovery procedure or in response to the occurrence of the failure related to SCG LTM cell switch. In some embodiments, the UE may transmit, to a NE which is connected to the UE, information indicating that assistant information #1 is available. In some cases, the UE may receive a request (e.g. a UE information request message) for assistant information #1 from the NE, and then transmit a response (e.g. a UE information response message) including assistant information #1 to the NE. In an embodiment, the UE information response message includes an RLF-report including assistant information #1.

[0143] In some embodiments, if the reestablishment procedure is successfully completed, the UE may transmit assistant information #1 to a reestablished cell (e.g. which belongs to the NE connected to the UE) of the UE after successfully completing the reestablishment procedure, e.g. for SON purpose. In these embodiments, assistant information #1 may also be named as "SON assistant information related to fast MCG link recovery procedure" or the like.

[0144] In some other embodiments, if a failure related to the reestablishment procedure occurs, the UE may enter an idle state (i.e. an RRC Idle state) , initiate an establishment procedure, and transmit assistant information #1 to an established cell (e.g. which belongs to the NE connected to the UE) of the UE after successfully completing the establishment procedure, e.g. for MRO purpose. In these embodiments, assistant information #1 may also be named as "MRO assistant information related to fast MCG link recovery procedure" or the like.

[0145] In some implementations, if the reestablishment procedure is initiated or triggered at operation 506 in a case that a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running (e.g. T316) , assistant information #1 which is stored and / or transmitted by the UE (e.g. SON assistant information or MRO assistant information related to the fast MCG link recovery procedure) may indicate at least one of the following:

[0147] (2) a cause for a SCG related failure, e.g. the UE sets the information element (IE) of scgFailureCause to "synchReconfigFailureSCG" ;

[0148] (3) the fast MCG link recovery procedure is ongoing;

[0149] (4) time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "reception of the LTM cell switch command for SCG" ;

[0150] (5) time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "starting the mobility timer" ;

[0151] (6) time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "an expiration of the mobility timer" ; or

[0152] (7) time elapsed between "starting the mobility timer" and "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" .

[0153] In some other implementations, if the reestablishment procedure is initiated or triggered at operation 506 in a case that a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires while a mobility timer (e.g. T304) is running, assistant information #1 which is stored and / or transmitted by the UE (e.g. SON assistant information or MRO assistant information related to fast MCG link recovery procedure) may indicate at least one of the following:

[0154] (1) the mobility timer is running when the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure expires, e.g. a failure cause;

[0159] (6) time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "the reception of the LTM cell switch command for SCG" ;

[0160] (7) time elapsed between "starting the mobility timer" and "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" ; or

[0162] In some implementations, the reestablishment procedure is initiated or triggered at operation 506 upon the UE receiving the LTM cell switch command for SCG while the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running. In some other implementations, the reestablishment procedure is initiated or triggered at operation 506 upon the UE initiating the fast MCG link recovery procedure while the mobility timer is running. In these  implementations, assistant information #1 which is stored and / or transmitted by the UE may indicate at least one of the following:

[0163] (1) the SCG LTM cell switch for is initiated or triggered while the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running, e.g. a failure cause;

[0164] (2) the fast MCG link recovery procedure is initiated or triggered while the mobility timer is running;

[0166] (4) time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "the reception of the LTM cell switch command for SCG" ; or

[0167] (5) time elapsed between "detecting the MCG related failure" and "the reception of the LTM cell switch command for SCG" . Specific examples are described in the embodiments of Figure 10 as follows.

[0168] Figure 6 illustrates a flowchart of a method related to an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method may be implemented by a UE as described herein. In some implementations, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control the function elements of the UE to perform the described functions. In some implementations, aspects of operations 602, 604, 606 and 608 may be performed by UE 200 as described with reference to Figure 2. Each of operations 602-608 may be performed in accordance with examples as described herein. Specific examples are described in the embodiments of Figure 11 as follows.

[0169] At operation 602, the method may include receiving, by a UE, configuration information including the following:

[0170] (1) LTM configuration information for MCG related to one or more LTM candidate cells;

[0171] (2) CHO configuration information for MCG related to one or more CHO candidate cells.

[0172] At operation 604, the method may include initiating a reestablishment procedure (denoted as reestablishment procedure #1) by the UE and performing a cell selection by the  UE in response to an occurrence of a failure. For example, the failure may be at least one of the following:

[0173] (1) an RLF on a MCG;

[0174] (2) a layer-3 (L3) handover failure;

[0175] (3) a failure of reconfiguration with synchronization;

[0176] (4) a CHO failure, or

[0177] (5) an LTM failure.

[0178] At operation 606, the method may include performing a handover recovery by the UE based on a selected cell (denoted as selected cell #1) which is selected by the cell selection at operation 604. For instance, the handover recovery may be an LTM based recovery, if selected cell #1 is an LTM candidate cell. The LTM based recovery is an LTM cell switch following the cell selection performed by the UE while a timer for cell selection (e.g. T311) is running. The handover recovery may be a CHO based recovery, if selected cell #1 is a CHO candidate cell. The CHO based recovery is a CHO procedure following the cell selection performed by the UE while a timer for cell selection (e.g. T311) is running.

[0179] At operation 608, the method may include transmitting assistant information related to the handover recovery (denoted as assistant information #2) by the UE to a NE, e.g. which is connected to the UE. In some embodiments, the UE may store assistant information #2 in response to a successful completion of the handover recovery or an occurrence of a failure related to the handover recovery.

[0180] In some implementations, to transmit assistant information #2, the UE may transmit information indicating that assistant information #2 is available to the NE, receive a request (e.g. a UE information request message) for assistant information #2 from the NE, and then transmit a response (e.g. a UE information response message) including assistant information #2 to the NE. In an embodiment, the UE information response message includes an RLF-report including assistant information #2 (e.g. assistant information related to handover recovery failure) . In another embodiment, the UE information response message includes a SHR including assistant information #2 (e.g. assistant information related to successful handover recovery) .

[0181] In some implementations of the method, to transmit assistant information#2 in operation 608, if a failure related to the handover recovery occurs, the UE may initiate another reestablishment procedure (denoted as reestablishment procedure #2) toward another cell (denoted as selected cell #2) . In some cases, if reestablishment procedure #2 is successfully completed, the UE may transmit "assistant information related to handover recovery failure" to a reestablished cell (e.g. which belongs to the NE connected to the UE) of the UE after successfully completing reestablishment procedure #2, e.g. via a failure information message. In some other cases, if a failure related to reestablishment procedure #2 occurs, the UE may enter an idle state (i.e. an RRC Idle state) , initiate an establishment procedure, and transmit "the assistant information related to handover recovery failure" (i.e. assistant information #2) to an established cell (e.g. which belongs to the NE connected to the UE) (denoted as cell #3) of the UE after successfully completing the establishment procedure. In these embodiments, assistant information #2 may also be named as "MRO assistant information related to handover recovery" or the like.

[0182] In some implementations, to transmit assistant information#2 in operation 608, if the handover recovery (e.g. the LTM based recovery or CHO based recovery) is successfully completed, the UE may transmit "assistant information related to successful handover recovery" (i.e. assistant information #2) to a target cell of the UE upon a satisfaction of at least one trigger condition, e.g. at least one trigger condition for a successful handover report (SHR) . For instance, the satisfaction of the at least one trigger condition includes at least one of the following:

[0183] (1) a ratio between "a value of elapsed running time of a physical layer problem timer (e.g. T310) when an LTM cell switch execution is initiated" and "a configured value of the physical layer problem timer" is greater than a threshold, e.g. a timer T310 related threshold;

[0184] (2) a ratio between "a value of elapsed running time of a timer for initiating failure recovery based on triggering a measurement report (e.g. T312) when the LTM cell switch execution is initiated" and "a configured value of the timer for initiating failure recovery based on triggering a measurement report" is greater than a threshold, e.g. a timer T312 related threshold; or

[0185] (3) a ratio between "a value of elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) when the LTM cell switch execution is initiated" and "a configured value of the mobility timer" is greater than a threshold, e.g. a timer T304 related threshold.

[0186] In some embodiments, assistant information #2 which is stored and / or transmitted by the UE (e.g. "assistant information related to handover recovery failure" or "assistant information related to successful handover recovery" ) may indicate at least one of the following:

[0187] (1) a SCG LTM cell switch is initiated while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running;

[0188] (2) ID information of at least one LTM candidate cell which meets an execution condition of the handover recovery but not selected for the handover recovery, i.e. ID information of other LTM candidate cell (s) besides selected cell #1;

[0189] (3) ID information of at least one CHO candidate cell which meets the execution condition of the handover recovery but not selected for the handover recovery, i.e. ID information of other CHO candidate cell (s) besides selected cell #1;

[0190] (4) whether selected cell #1 is configured with both the LTM configuration information and the CHO configuration information;

[0191] (5) information regarding a subsequent LTM procedure in which the UE does not need to be reconfigured LTM configuration information, e.g. an indication to indicate whether a subsequent LTM procedure is performed by the UE;

[0192] (6) a set of candidate cells, the UE can switch towards each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells via the subsequent LTM procedure; or

[0193] (7) a set of time duration including a corresponding time duration of each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells.

[0194] Figure 7 illustrates a flowchart of a method related to an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method may be implemented by a UE as described herein. In some implementations, the UE  may execute a set of instructions to control the function elements of the UE to perform the described functions. In some implementations, aspects of operations 702, 704 and 706 may be performed by UE 200 as described with reference to Figure 2. Each of operations 702-706 may be performed in accordance with examples as described herein. Specific examples are described in the embodiments of Figure 12 as follows.

[0195] At operation 702, the method may include receiving, by a UE, LTM configuration information related to one or more LTM candidate cells. The LTM configuration information is associated with a MCG LTM cell switch and / or a SCG LTM cell switch.

[0196] At operation 704, the method may include executing an LTM cell switch towards an LTM candidate cell (denoted as LTM candidate cell #2) within the one or more LTM candidate cells upon reception of an LTM cell switch command.

[0197] At operation 706, the method may include transmitting assistant information related to the LTM cell switch (denoted as assistant information #3) to a NE, which is connected to the UE, if the LTM cell switch successfully completed or a failure related to the LTM cell switch occurs. In some implementations, the UE may store assistant information #3 in response to the successful completion of the LTM cell switch or the occurrence of the failure related to the LTM cell switch. In some embodiments, the UE may transmit information indicating that assistant information #3 is available to the NE, receive a request (e.g. a UE information request message) for assistant information #3 from the NE, and transmit a response (e.g. a UE information response message) including assistant information #3 to the NE. In an embodiment, the UE information response message includes an RLF-report including assistant information #3 (e.g. failure related information) . In another embodiment, the UE information response message includes a successful report (e.g. SHR) including assistant information #3 (e.g. successful LTM related information) .

[0198] In some implementations of the method, the LTM cell switch may be executed at operation 704 based on one of the following:

[0199] (1) a TA value of LTM candidate cell #2, which is derived by an early TA acquisition, e.g. an early TA value;

[0200] (2) a TA value of LTM candidate cell #2, which is configured by RRC signaling; or

[0201] (3) a TA value of LTM candidate cell #2, which is derived by a UE based TA measurement.

[0202] In some implementations of the method, the LTM cell switch command may include at least one of the following:

[0203] (1) the TA value of LTM candidate cell #2, which is derived by the early TA acquisition, e.g. an early TA value;

[0204] (2) the TA value of LTM candidate cell #2 for RACH-less LTM cell switch; or

[0205] (3) a TCI state corresponding to a TAG ID of the TA value of LTM candidate cell #2.

[0206] In some implementations of the method, to transmit assistant information #3 at operation 706, the UE may initiate a reestablishment procedure in response to an expiration of a mobility timer. If the reestablishment procedure is successfully completed, the UE may transmit "assistant information associated with LTM cell switch failure" (e.g. failure related information) to a reestablished cell of the UE after the successful completion of the reestablishment procedure. If a failure related to the reestablishment procedure occurs, the UE may enter an idle state (i.e. an RRC Idle state) , initiate an establishment procedure, and transmit "the assistant information associated with LTM cell switch failure" to an established cell of the UE after a successful completion of the establishment procedure, e.g. for MRO purpose. In these embodiments, assistant information #3 may also be named as "MRO assistant information related to LTM cell switch" or the like.

[0207] In some other implementations of the method, to transmit assistant information #3, if the LTM cell switch is successfully completed, the UE may transmit "assistant information associated with successful LTM cell switch" (e.g. successful LTM related information) to a target cell of the UE upon a satisfaction of at least one trigger condition, e. g.at least one trigger condition for a successful report (e.g. SHR) . The satisfaction of the at least one trigger condition may be that a ratio between "a value of elapsed running time of a mobility timer when an LTM cell switch execution is initiated" and "a configured value of the mobility timer" is greater than a threshold, e.g. a timer T304 related threshold.

[0208] In some implementations of the method, assistant information #3 which is stored and / or transmitted by the UE (e.g. "assistant information associated with LTM cell switch  failure" or "assistant information associated with successful LTM cell switch" ) may indicate at least one of the following:

[0209] (1) whether a TAT for early TA expires when a mobility timer is running;

[0210] (2) elapsed running time of the mobility timer when the TAT for early TA expires;

[0211] (3) whether a TAT for UE based measurement TA expires when the mobility timer is running;

[0212] (4) elapsed running time of the mobility timer when the TAT for UE based measurement TA expires;

[0213] (5) a TCI state associated with a TA value of LTM candidate cell #2; or

[0214] (6) a TAG ID of the TA value of LTM candidate cell #2.

[0215] In some implementations, LTM candidate cell #2 may be configured with multiple transmission reception points (TRP) s. Two TA values can be configured to LTM candidate cell #2, and each TA value within the two TA values is related to one TAG ID. Specific examples are described in the embodiments of Figure 12 as follows.

[0216] Figure 8 illustrates a flowchart of a method related to an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method may be implemented by a network equipment (NE) as described herein. In some implementations, the NE may be a network node or a base station (BS) , and may execute a set of instructions to control the function elements of the NE to perform the described functions. In some implementations, aspects of operations 802 and 804 may be performed by NE 400 as described with reference to Figure 4. Each of operations 802 and 804 may be performed in accordance with examples as described herein. Specific examples are described in the embodiments of Figures 9-12 as follows.

[0217] At operation 802, the method may include transmitting, by a NE to a UE, LTM configuration information related to one or more LTM candidate cells. The LTM configuration information may be associated with a MCG LTM cell switch and / or a SCG LTM cell switch;

[0218] At operation 804, the method may include receiving, by the NE from the UE, assistant information (denoted as assistant information #x) related to at least one of the following (e.g. via a UE information response message) :

[0219] (1) a fast MCG link recovery procedure, e.g. assistant information #1;

[0220] (2) a handover recovery, e.g. assistant information #2; or

[0221] (3) an LTM cell switch, e.g. assistant information #3.

[0222] In some implementations of the method, before receiving assistant information #x, the NE may receive, from the UE, information indicating that assistant information #x is available. Then, the NE may transmit a request (e.g. a UE information request message) for assistant information #x to the UE. After that, the NE may receive assistant information #x from the UE at operation 804.

[0223] In some implementations of the method, assistant information #x related to the fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. assistant information #1) indicates at least one of the following, for example, in a case that a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is still running when a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires:

[0224] (1) A timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running when a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires. In an embodiment, the mobility timer is started before starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure. In another embodiment, the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is started before starting the mobility timer, and the LTM cell switch command for SCG is received by the UE when the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running.

[0225] (2) A cause for a SCG related failure, e.g. the UE sets scgFailureCause to synchReconfigFailureSCG.

[0226] (3) The fast MCG link recovery procedure is ongoing.

[0227] (4) Time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "reception of an LTM cell switch command for SCG" .

[0228] (5) Time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "starting the mobility timer" .

[0229] (6) Time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "an expiration of the mobility timer" .

[0230] (7) Time elapsed between "starting the mobility timer" and "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" .

[0231] In some implementations of the method, assistant information #x related to the fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. assistant information #1) indicates at least one of the following, for example, in a case that a mobility timer (e.g. T304) is still running when a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires:

[0232] (1) A mobility timer (e.g. T304) is running when a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires.

[0233] (2) A cause for an RLF on MCG, e.g. the UE sets mcgRecoveryFailureCause to "T316 expiry" .

[0234] (3) A SCG LTM cell switch is ongoing.

[0235] (4) Time elapsed between "reception of an LTM cell switch command for SCG" and "an expiration of the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" .

[0236] (5) Time elapsed between "starting the mobility timer" and "the expiration of the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" .

[0237] (6) Time elapsed between "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" and "the reception of the LTM cell switch command for SCG" .

[0238] (7) Time elapsed between "starting the mobility timer" and "starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure" .

[0239] (8) ID information of an LTM candidate cell for the SCG LTM cell switch.

[0240] In some embodiments of the method, the handover recovery may be an LTM based recovery if a selected cell via a cell selection performed by the UE is an LTM candidate  cell. The LTM based recovery is an LTM cell switch following the cell selection performed by the UE while a timer for cell selection (e.g. T311) is running.

[0241] In some other embodiments of the method, the handover recovery may be a conditional handover (CHO) based recovery if the selected cell is a CHO candidate cell. The CHO based recovery is a CHO procedure following the cell selection performed by the UE while a timer for cell selection (e.g. T311) is running.

[0242] In some implementations of the method, if assistant information #x is associated with a failure related to the handover recovery, assistant information #x may be carried in a failure information message transmitted to a reestablished cell of the UE. In some other implementations, if assistant information #x is associated with a successful completion of the handover recovery, assistant information #x may be carried in a successful report transmitted to a target cell of the UE. In some embodiments, assistant information #x related to the (failed or successful) handover recovery (e.g. assistant information #2) indicates at least one of the following:

[0243] (1) a SCG LTM cell switch is initiated while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running;

[0244] (2) ID information of at least one LTM candidate cell which meets an execution condition of the handover recovery but not selected for the handover recovery;

[0245] (3) ID information of at least one CHO candidate cell which meets the execution condition of the handover recovery but not selected for the handover recovery;

[0246] (4) whether a cell selected for the handover recovery (e.g. selected cell #1 in the embodiments of Figure 6) is configured with both the LTM configuration information and the CHO configuration information;

[0247] (5) information regarding a subsequent LTM procedure in which the UE does not need to be reconfigured LTM configuration information, e.g. an indication to indicate whether a subsequent LTM procedure is performed by the UE;

[0248] (6) a set of candidate cells, wherein the UE can switch towards each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells via the subsequent LTM procedure; or

[0249] (7) a set of time duration including a corresponding time duration of each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells.

[0250] In some implementations of the method, if assistant information #x is associated with a failure related to the LTM cell switch (e.g. assistant information #3) , assistant information #x may be carried in a failure information message transmitted to a reestablished cell of the UE. In some other implementations, if assistant information #x is associated with a successful completion of the LTM cell switch (e.g. assistant information #3) , assistant information #x may be carried in a successful report transmitted to a target cell of the UE. In some embodiments, assistant information #x related to the (failed or successful) LTM cell switch (e.g. assistant information #3) indicates at least one of the following:

[0251] (1) whether a TAT for early TA expires when a mobility timer is running;

[0252] (2) elapsed running time of the mobility timer when the TAT for early TA expires;

[0253] (3) whether a TAT for UE based measurement TA expires when the mobility timer is running;

[0254] (4) elapsed running time of the mobility timer when the TAT for UE based measurement TA expires;

[0255] (5) a TCI state associated with a TA value of an LTM candidate cell of the UE; or

[0256] (6) a TAG ID of the TA value of the LTM candidate cell. For instance, the LTM candidate cell is configured with multiple TRPs, two TA values can be configured to the LTM candidate cell, and each TA value within the two TA values is related to one TAG ID.

[0257] It should be noted that the methods described in Figures 5-8 describe possible implementations, and that the operations and the steps may be rearranged or otherwise eliminated or modified and that other implementations are possible, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure. Following text describe specific embodiments of Figures 5-8 according to different cases.

[0258] Figure 9 illustrates a schematic diagram of an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The embodiments of Figure 9 refer to a case that a SCG LTM cell switch is allowed while a fast MCG link recovery procedure is ongoing. Some embodiments of Figure 9 refer to a failure case of a SCG LTM cell switch.  Details described in all other embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments of Figure 9.

[0259] As shown in Figure 9, in operation 911, UE 901 may access the network (e.g. the serving gNB) via Dual-connectivity (DC) including MCG and SCG. Namely, UE 901 accesses MN 902 and SN 903 via a DC scenario. UE 901 may send a measurement report to the serving gNB.

[0260] In operation 912, the source gNB (SN 903 or MN 902) determines to initiate SCG LTM configuration. In different embodiments, UE 901 may support a SN initiated Intra-CU LTM, a SN initiated Inter-CU LTM, or a MN initiated LTM, and there may be different operations in these different embodiments.

[0261] In an embodiment of a SN initiated Intra-CU LTM, a CU of the source SCG gNB (e.g. SN 903) sends a request message, e.g. a UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST message including ID information of a candidate cell to a candidate gNB-DU of the source SCG gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate gNB-DU of the source SCG gNB.

[0262] In an embodiment of a SN initiated Inter-CU LTM, the source SCG gNB transmits (e.g. SN 903) a request for preparing LTM candidate configuration, e.g. a SN change required message or a SN modification required message, to MN 902. Then, source MN 902 sends a request message, e.g. a SN addition request message or a SN modification request message to a candidate SCG gNB (i.e. candidate SN) (not shown in Figure 9) , where the request message includes ID information of a candidate cell. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message from source MN 902 transmitted to the candidate SCG gNB. Then, a CU of the candidate SCG gNB (i.e. the candidate target SCG gNB-CU) sends a request message, e.g. a UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST message including the ID information of the candidate cell to a candidate DU of the candidate SCG gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted from the CU of the candidate SCG gNB to the candidate DU of the candidate SCG gNB.

[0263] In an embodiment of a MN initiated LTM, MN 902 transmits a request to a candidate SN (i.e. a candidate SCG gNB) (not shown in Figure 9) . MN 902 may receive a  response including configuration information related to a candidate cell from the candidate SN.

[0264] In the above mentioned embodiments, if the candidate DU of the candidate SCG gNB decides to accept the request of LTM configuration related to a candidate cell, it may respond to the CU of the candidate SCG gNB including RRC configuration information for the accepted candidate cell.

[0265] In operation 913, UE 901 receives an RRC configuration message associated with one or more candidate cells for LTM configuration. For example, UE 901 may receive LTM configuration for the one or more candidate cells from MN 902 or SN 903.

[0266] In some embodiments of operation 913 (which is optional) , UE 901 receives configuration information of a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure, e.g. T316, which may also be named as "a timer for MCG link recovery procedure" or "a timer related to MCG failure information" or the like. If UE 901 receives the configuration for T316, it means that UE 901 is allowed to perform a MCG failure information procedure.

[0267] In some embodiments of operation 913 (which is optional) , a source DU of the source SCG gNB (e.g. SN 903) transmits a PDCCH order for triggering TA acquisition related to a particular candidate cell to UE 901. UE 901 transmits the preamble for TA acquisition to the candidate DU upon the reception of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) order. If the candidate cell or the candidate DU can calculate a TA value based on the received preamble, the candidate cell or the candidate DU may transmit the preamble and corresponding RACH occasion, a beam indication, a UE ID, RA-RNTI, a target cell ID, a TCI State index for the target Cell, and etc. to the source DU via the CU. The candidate DU may store the TA value received. The source DU of the source SCG gNB receives an early TA value from the source CU.

[0268] After operation 913, there may be following two options according to different embodiments, i.e. Option #1 and Option #2.

[0269] Option #1: operation 914 is performed before operation 915.

[0270] In operation 914, UE 901 initiates a fast MCG link recovery procedure upon detecting an RLF on the MCG (i.e. MCG failure or MCR related failure) while a timer for  fast MCG link recovery procedure e.g. T316 is not running. In some embodiments, UE 901 may start the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure e.g. T316. UE 901 may transmit MCG failure information, i.e. a MCG Failure Information message. Then, in operation 915, UE 901 receives a SCG LTM cell switch command while the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running.

[0271] Option #2: operation 915 is performed before operation 914.

[0272] In operation 915, UE 901 receives a SCG LTM cell switch command. Then, in operation 914, UE 901 performs a SCG LTM cell switch upon a reception of the SCG LTM cell switch command and starts a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for a SCG LTM cell switch. In operation 914, UE 901 may initiate a fast MCG link recovery procedure and start a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) .

[0273] In both Option #1 and Option #2, T316 for fast MCG link recovery and T304 for SCG LTM cell switch are both running in parallel. UE 901 will not receive a response (e.g. a handover command) from MN 902 while T304 for SCG LTM cell switch is running. If one of T304 and T316 expires, UE 901 may perform a re-establishment procedure directly. After UE 901 initiating the re-establishment procedure directly, there may be following two scenarios in different embodiments.

[0274] (1) If UE 901 successfully re-establishes to a cell, UE 901 may transmit information indicating that failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) is available to the reestablished cell, e.g. in operation 916. Then, UE 901 may transmit a report including the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) to the reestablished cell. Finally, the report will be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0275] (2) Alternatively, if UE 901 fails to perform the re-establishment procedure, UE 901 may enter an RRC idle state. After UE 901 accesses a selected cell via an RRC establishment procedure, UE 901 may transmit information indicating that failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) is available to the established cell. Then, UE 901 may transmit a report including the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) to the established cell. Finally, the report will be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0276] In some embodiments, in operation 916, UE 901 may transmit a UE information response message including an RLF-report including the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) to the established cell. The report is the RLF-report in these embodiments.

[0277] Regarding specific contents of the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) , for example, there may be following two cases according to different embodiments, i.e. Case #1a and Case #1b.

[0278] Case #1a: Once the mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires while the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is still running, UE 901 performs the re-establishment procedure directly. For instance, the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) transmitted from UE 901 in operation 916 may include at least one of the following:

[0279] (1) An indication to indicate that the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running when the mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires.

[0280] (2) a cause for a SCG failure, e.g. UE 901 may set the cause for SCG failure "scgFailureCause" to synchReconfigFailureSCG.

[0281] (3) An indication to indicate that a fast MCG link recovery is ongoing.

[0282] (4) The elapsed running time of the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) when reception of a SCG LTM cell switch command.

[0283] (5) The elapsed running time of the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) when starting the mobility timer (e.g. T304) .

[0284] (6) The elapsed running time of the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) when the mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires.

[0285] (7) Time duration between starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) and starting the mobility timer (e.g. T304) .

[0286] (8) The elapsed running time of the mobility timer (e.g. T304) when starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) , i.e., time duration between starting the  mobility timer (e.g. T304) and starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) .

[0287] Case #1b: the mobility timer (e.g. T304) is still running when the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires. In this case, the response may be pending at SN 902. The failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) transmitted from UE 901 in operation 916 may include at least one of the following:

[0288] (1) An indication to indicate that the mobility timer (e.g. T304) is running when the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires.

[0289] (2) A MCG recovery failure cause, e.g. UE 901 may set the MCG recovery failure cause "mcgRecoveryFailureCause" to "T316 expiry" or "timer for fast MCG link recovery expiry" .

[0290] (3) An indication to indicate that a SCG LTM cell switch is ongoing.

[0291] (4) The time duration between "reception of a SCG LTM cell switch command" and "the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expiry" .

[0292] (5) The elapsed running time of the mobility timer (e.g. T304) when the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) expires.

[0293] (6) The time duration between starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) and reception of a SCG LTM cell switch command.

[0294] (7) The elapsed running time of the mobility timer (e.g. T304) when starting the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) .

[0295] (8) ID information of a candidate cell for SCG LTM cell switch.

[0296] Figure 10 illustrates a schematic diagram of an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The embodiments of Figure 10 refer to a SCG LTM cell switch and design a UE's behaviors if receiving a SCG LTM cell switch command while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running and refers to enhancement for MRO for a fast MCG link recovery procedure. Details described in all other embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments of Figure 10.

[0297] As shown in Figure 10, in operation 11, UE 1001 may access the network (e.g. the serving gNB) via Dual-connectivity (DC) including MCG and SCG. Namely, UE 1001 accesses MN 1002 and SN 1003 via a DC scenario. UE 1001 may send a measurement report to the serving gNB.

[0298] In operation 12, the source gNB (SN 1003 or MN 1002) determines to initiate SCG LTM configuration. In different embodiments, UE 1001 may support a SN initiated Intra-CU LTM, a SN initiated Inter-CU LTM, or a MN initiated LTM. There may be different operations in different embodiments.

[0299] In an embodiment of a SN initiated Intra-CU LTM, a CU of the source SCG gNB (e.g. SN 1003) sends a request message, e.g. a UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST message including ID information of a candidate cell to a candidate gNB-DU of the source SCG gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate gNB-DU of the source SCG gNB.

[0300] In an embodiment of a SN initiated Inter-CU LTM, the source SCG gNB transmits (e.g. SN 1003) a request for preparing LTM candidate configuration, e.g. a SN change required message or a SN modification required message, to MN 1002. Then, source MN 1002 sends a request message, e.g. a SN addition request message or a SN modification request message to a candidate SCG gNB (i.e. candidate SN) (not shown in Figure 10) , where the request message includes ID information of a candidate cell. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to candidate SCG gNB. Then, a CU of the candidate SCG gNB (i.e. the candidate target SCG gNB-CU) sends a request message, e.g. a UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST message including the ID information of the candidate cell to a candidate DU of the candidate SCG gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate DU of the candidate SCG gNB.

[0301] In an embodiment of a MN initiated LTM, MN 1002 transmits a request to a candidate SN (i.e. a candidate SCG gNB) (not shown in Figure 10) . MN 1002 may receive a response including configuration information related to a candidate cell from the candidate SN.

[0302] In the above mentioned embodiments, if the candidate DU of the candidate SCG gNB decides to accept the request of LTM configuration related to a candidate cell, it may respond to the CU of the candidate SCG gNB including RRC configuration information for the accepted candidate cell.

[0303] In operation 13, UE 1001 receives an RRC configuration message associated with one or more candidate cells for LTM configuration. For example, UE 1001 may receive LTM configuration for the one or more candidate cells from MN 1002 or SN 1003.

[0304] In some embodiments of operation 13 (which is optional) , UE 1001 receives configuration information of a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure, e.g. T316, which may also be named as "a timer for MCG link recovery procedure" or "a timer related to MCG failure information" or the like. If UE 1001 receives the configuration for the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) , it means that UE 1001 is allowed to perform a MCG failure information procedure.

[0305] In some embodiments of operation 13 (which is optional) , a source DU of the source SCG gNB (e.g. SN 1003) transmits a PDCCH order for triggering TA acquisition related to a particular candidate cell to UE 1001. UE 1001 transmits the preamble for TA acquisition to the candidate DU upon the reception of PDCCH order. The candidate DU may store the received TA value. The source DU of the source SCG gNB receives an early TA value from the source CU.

[0306] In operation 14, UE 1001 initiates a fast MCG link recovery procedure upon detecting an RLF on the MCG (i.e. MCG failure or MCR related failure) while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure e.g. T316 is not running. In some embodiments, UE 1001 may start the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure e.g. T316.

[0307] In operation 15, UE 1001 may transmit MCG failure information, i.e. via a MCG Failure Information message.

[0308] In operation 16, UE 1001 receives a SCG LTM cell switch command while the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure is running.

[0309] In operation 17, UE 1001 performs a re-establishment procedure directly upon reception of the SCG LTM cell switch command while the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running.

[0310] After UE 1001 initiating the re-establishment procedure directly, there may be following two scenarios in different embodiments of operation 18.

[0311] (1) In operation 18, after successfully re-establishes a cell, UE 1001 may transmit information indicating that failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) is available to the reestablished cell. Then, UE 1001 may transmit a report including the failure related information to the reestablished cell. Finally, the report may be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0312] (2) In operation 18, if UE 1001 fails to perform the re-establishment procedure, UE 1001 may enter an RRC idle state. After UE 1001 accesses a selected cell via an RRC establishment procedure, UE 1001 may transmit information indicating that the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) is available to the established cell. Then, UE 1001 may transmit a report including the failure related information to the established cell. Finally, the report may be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0313] In some embodiments, in operation 18, UE 1001 may transmit a UE information response message including an RLF-report including the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) to the established cell. The report is the RLF-report in these embodiments.

[0314] For example, the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #1) transmitted from UE 1001 in operation 18 may include at least one of the following:

[0315] (1) An indication to indicate that a SCG LTM cell switch is triggered while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running.

[0316] (2) Time elapsed between reception of the SCG LTM cell switch command and starting a fast MCG link recovery procedure.

[0317] (3) Time elapsed value for the timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) when UE 1001 receives the SCG LTM cell switch command.

[0318] (4) Time elapsed between detecting a MCG related failure (e.g. the RLF on the MCG) and reception of the SCG LTM cell switch command.

[0319] Figure 11 illustrates a schematic diagram of an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The embodiments of Figure 11 refer to a case that both an LTM based recovery and a CHO based recovery are allowed and solve an issue of what information is reported if one of an LTM based recovery and a CHO based recovery is selected for recovery. Some embodiments of Figure 11 refer to a failure case or a successful case of a MCG LTM cell switch. Details described in all other embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments of Figure 11.

[0320] As shown in Figure 11, in operation 111, UE 1101 may access the network (e.g. the serving gNB) via Dual-connectivity (DC) including MCG and SCG. Namely, UE 1101 accesses MN 1102 and SN 1103 via a DC scenario. UE 1001 may send a measurement report to the serving gNB.

[0321] In operation 112, the source gNB (e.g. MN 1102) determines to initiate L1 / L2 based inter-cell mobility configuration for MCG. In different embodiments, UE 1101 may support an Intra-CU LTM or an Inter-CU LTM, and there may be different operations in these different embodiments.

[0322] In an embodiment of an Intra-CU LTM, a CU of the source gNB sends a request message, e.g. a UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST message, including ID information of the candidate cell to a candidate DU of a candidate gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate DU.

[0323] In an embodiment of an Inter-CU LTM, the source gNB sends a request message, e.g. a Handover request message, including ID information of the candidate cell to a candidate gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate gNB.

[0324] After the source gNB receives the MCG LTM configuration for one or more candidate cells, the source gNB will generate an RRC reconfiguration message based on the configuration from the candidate cell and transmit the RRC reconfiguration message to UE 1101 in operation 113.

[0325] For example, the RRC reconfiguration message may include candidate cell configuration information for LTM and / or a RACH resource for early TA acquisition. The RRC reconfiguration message may include MCG LTM configuration associated with one or more candidate cells. In some embodiments, UE 1101 may receive MCG LTM configuration related to one or more candidate cells, e.g. candidate cell #1, candidate cell #2 and / or candidate cell #3. In addition, in some cases, UE 1101 may receive CHO configuration information for one or more candidate cells, e.g. candidate cell #3, candidate cell #4 and candidate cell #5. Namely, both CHO configuration and MCG LTM configuration are configured for the same candidate cell, i.e. candidate cell #3.

[0326] In operation 114, UE 1101 initiates a re-establishment procedure (e.g. reestablishment procedure #1) due to occurrence of: an RLF on MCG, a L3 handover failure, a CHO failure, and / or an LTM failure.

[0327] In operation 115, UE 1101 may perform a cell selection after UE 1101 initiates the re-establishment procedure (e.g. reestablishment procedure #1) . In some embodiments, if the selected cell (e.g. selected cell #1) is configured with LTM configuration, e.g. candidate cell #1, candidate cell #2 or candidate cell#3, UE 1101 may perform an LTM cell switch (i.e. an LTM based recovery) . In some other embodiments, if the selected cell (e.g. selected cell #1) is configured with CHO configuration, e.g. candidate cell #3, candidate cell #4 or candidate cell#5, UE 1101 may perform CHO (i.e. a CHO based recovery) .

[0328] In operation 115, there may be following two options according to different embodiments, i.e. Option #A and Option #B.

[0329] Option #A (LTM / CHO recovery failure) : In operation 115, UE 1101 performs a handover recovery (e.g. the LTM based recovery or the CHO based recovery) based on the selected cell (e.g. selected cell #1) . If a handover failure occurs (e.g. during the LTM based recovery or the CHO based recovery) , UE 1101 may perform a reestablishment procedure (e.g. reestablishment procedure #2) toward another cell, e.g. selected cell #2. After UE 1101  initiating the re-establishment procedure (i.e. reestablishment procedure #2) , there may be following two scenarios in different embodiments of operation 116.

[0330] (1) In operation 116, after UE 1101 successfully completed reestablishment procedure #2 toward to selected cell #2, UE 1101 may transmit information indicating that handover recovery failure related information (e.g. assistant information #2) is available to selected cell #2 (i.e. the reestablished cell) . Then, UE 1101 transmits a report including the handover recovery failure related information (e.g. assistant information #2) to selected cell #2. Finally, the report will be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0331] (2) In operation 116, if UE 1101 fails to perform reestablishment procedure #2, UE 1101 enters an RRC idle state. After UE 1101 accesses a selected cell via an RRC establishment procedure, UE 1101 may transmit information indicating that handover recovery failure related information (e.g. assistant information #2) is available to an established cell (e.g. cell #3) . Then, UE 1101 transmits a report including the handover recovery failure related information (e.g. assistant information #2) to the established cell. Finally, the report will be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0332] In some embodiments of Option #A, in operation 116, UE 1101 may transmit a UE information response message including an RLF-report including assistant information related to handover recovery failure (i.e. handover recovery failure related information, e.g. assistant information #2) to the established cell. The report is the RLF-report in these embodiments.

[0333] In Option #A, for example, the handover recovery failure related information (e.g. assistant information #2) transmitted from UE 1101 in operation 116 may include at least one of the following:

[0334] (1) An indication to indicate that a SCG LTM cell switch is triggered while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running.

[0335] (2) ID information of at least one LTM candidate cell which also meets condition (s) for handover recovery, i.e. ID information of other LTM candidate cell (s) besides selected cell #1.

[0336] (3) ID information of at least one CHO candidate cell which also meets condition (s) for handover recovery, i.e. ID information of other CHO candidate cell (s) besides selected cell #1.

[0337] (4) An indication to indicate whether the selected candidate cell is configured with both CHO configuration information and LTM configuration information (e.g. whether it is a case that selected cell #1 is candidate cell #3) .

[0338] (5) An indication to indicate a subsequent LTM procedure in which UE 1101 does not need to be reconfigured LTM configuration information, e.g. an indication to indicate whether a subsequent LTM procedure is performed by UE 1101.

[0339] (6) A set of candidate cells to which UE 1101 switches (in chronological order) , e.g. UE

[0340] 1101 can switch towards each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells via a subsequent LTM procedure.

[0341] (7) A set of time duration including a corresponding time duration of each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells towards each UE 1101 can switch via a subsequent LTM procedure.

[0342] Option #B (successful LTM / CHO recovery) : in operation 115, UE 1101 performs a handover recovery (e.g. the LTM based recovery or the CHO based recovery) based on the selected cell (e.g. selected cell #1) . UE 1101 may successfully access the target cell via a CHO or an LTM.

[0343] In some embodiments of Option #B, in operation 116, UE 1101 may transmit a UE information response message including a successful handover report (SHR) including assistant information related to successful handover recovery (i.e. successful handover recovery related information, e.g. assistant information #2) to the established cell. The report is the SHR in these embodiments.

[0344] In some embodiments of Option #B, a trigger condition for a SHR is met. The source cell may configure one or more trigger conditions, e.g. a threshold of T310, a threshold of T312 and / or a threshold of T304, to UE 1101. For example, the threshold of T310 for SHR (e.g. 20%, 40%, 60%or 80%) is configured. Assuming that a timer length of T310 is 500ms, UE 1101 determines if the elapsed running time of T310 since UE 1101 starts T310  is greater than the value of 60%*500ms (= 300ms) . If the elapsed running time of T310 since UE 1101 starts T310 is greater than 300ms, the trigger condition for SHR is met. That is, elapsed of T310 being greater than 60%*a timer length of T310 will trigger the SHR.

[0345] If the trigger condition for SHR is met, UE 1101 may log or store parameters of successful handover recovery related information (e.g. assistant information #2) . In some cases, UE 1101 may indicate information indicating that the successful handover recovery related information (e.g. assistant information #2) is available to the target cell. Then, the target cell will request UE 1101 to report the successful handover recovery related information (e.g. assistant information #2) . UE 1101 will transmit a SHR including the successful handover recovery related information (e.g. assistant information #2) to the target cell based on the request.

[0346] For example, the successful handover recovery related information (e.g. assistant information #2) transmitted from UE 1101 in operation 116 may include at least one of the following.

[0347] (1) An indication to indicate that a SCG LTM cell switch is triggered while a timer for fast MCG link recovery procedure (e.g. T316) is running.

[0348] (2) ID information of at least one LTM candidate cell which also meets condition (s) for handover recovery but not selected for the handover recovery, i.e. ID information of other LTM candidate cell (s) besides selected cell #1.

[0349] (3) ID information of at least one CHO candidate cell which also meets condition (s) for handover recovery but not selected for the handover recovery, i.e. ID information of other CHO candidate cell (s) besides selected cell #1.

[0350] (4) An indication to indicate whether the selected candidate cell is configured with both CHO configuration information and LTM configuration information (e.g. whether it is a case that selected cell #1 is candidate cell #3) .

[0351] (5) An indication to indicate a subsequent LTM in which UE 1101 does not need to be reconfigured LTM configuration information, e.g. an indication to indicate whether a subsequent LTM procedure is performed by UE 1101.

[0352] (6) A set of candidate cells to which UE 1101 switches (in chronological order) , e.g. UE 1101 can switch towards each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells via a subsequent LTM procedure.

[0353] (7) A set of time duration including a corresponding time duration of each candidate cell of the set of candidate cells towards each UE 1101 can switch via a subsequent LTM procedure.

[0354] Figure 12 illustrates a schematic diagram of an LTM cell switch procedure in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. The embodiments of Figure 12 refer to a case of a RACH-less LTM in which "TAT for early TA" or "TAT for UE based measurement TA" expires before a mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires. The embodiments of Figure 12 also refer to a case that LTM may be configured with two TA values, in which a UE may determine a TAG ID based on the mapping from a TCI state to a TAG ID. In this case, the TCI state or the TAG ID may be reported for SON purpose e.g. a failed LTM cell switch or a successful LTM cell switch. The feature of LTM configured with two TA values can refer to a SCG LTM cell switch and a MCG LTM cell switch. Some embodiments of Figure 12 refer to a failure case or a successful case of a MCG LTM cell switch. Some embodiments of Figure 12 refer to a failure case or a successful case of a SCG LTM cell switch. Details described in all other embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments of Figure 12.

[0355] As shown in Figure 12, in operation 121, UE 1201 may access the network (e.g. the serving gNB) via Dual-connectivity (DC) including MCG and SCG. Namely, UE 1201 accesses MN 1202 and SN 1203 via a DC scenario. UE 1001 may send a measurement report to the serving gNB.

[0356] In operation 122, the source gNB (e.g. MN 1202) determines to initiate L1 / L2 based inter-cell mobility configuration for MCG. In different embodiments, UE 1201 may support an Intra-CU LTM or an Inter-CU LTM, and there may be different operations in these different embodiments.

[0357] In an embodiment of an Intra-CU LTM, a CU of the source gNB sends a request message, e.g. a UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST message, including ID information of a candidate cell to a candidate DU of a candidate gNB. The request for RACH resource for  early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate DU.

[0358] In an embodiment of an Inter-CU LTM, the source gNB sends a request message, e.g. a handover request message, including ID information of a candidate cell to a candidate gNB. The request for RACH resource for early TA acquisition may also be included in the request message transmitted to the candidate gNB.

[0359] After the source gNB receives LTM configuration for one or more candidate cells, the source gNB will generate an RRC reconfiguration message based on the configuration from the candidate cell and transmit the RRC reconfiguration message to UE 1201 in operation 123.

[0360] For example, the RRC reconfiguration message may include candidate cell configuration information for LTM and / or a RACH resource for early TA acquisition. The RRC configuration message may include LTM configuration associated with one or more candidate cells. In some embodiments, UE 1201 may receive LTM configuration related to one or more candidate cells, e.g. candidate cell #a, candidate cell #b and / or candidate cell #c. For instance, the LTM configuration may be related to a MCG LTM cell switch or a SCG LTM cell switch.

[0361] In some embodiments, in operation 124 (which is optional) , UE 1201 receives a PDCCH order for triggering TA acquisition to a particular candidate cell, e.g. candidate cell #a, candidate cell #b or candidate cell #c. Then, UE 1201 may transmit a preamble for TA acquisition to the candidate cell. If the candidate cell or the candidate DU may calculate a TA value based on the received preamble, the candidate cell or the candidate DU may transmit the preamble and corresponding RACH occasion, a beam indication, a UE ID, a RA-RNTI, a target cell ID, a TCI State index for the target cell and etc. to the source DU via the CU. After the CU receives the information from the candidate DU, the CU may transfer the information, e.g., the TA value, to the source DU via F1 interface.

[0362] In some embodiments, a UE-based TA measurement is performed. For example, in operation 125 (which is optional) , UE 1201 derives a TA value based on a receiving timing difference between the current serving cell and a candidate cell as well as a TA value for the current serving cell.

[0363] In some embodiments, one cell may be configured with multiple TRPs a feature of LTM configured with two TA values. Two TA values may be configured to one cell, and each TA value is related to one TAG ID. For example, TAG #0 and TAG #1 are configured to a target cell. TA #0 corresponds TAG #0, and TA #1 corresponds TAG #1, respectively. For a certain handover, in operation 125 (which is optional) , UE 1201 may perform a RACH procedure towards TAG #0 or TAG #1 of the target cell. Regarding the RACH-less handover, the early TA value or a UE based measured TA value is related to TAG #0 or TAG #1 of the target cell.

[0364] In some embodiments, in operation 126, UE 1201 may receive an LTM cell switch command including a target cell configuration index. A TCI state may be included in the LTM cell switch command. The TCI state corresponds a TAG ID.

[0365] In operation 127, in some embodiments, if an early TA value is included in the LTM cell switch command received in operation 126, UE 1201 may perform a RACH-less handover using the early TA value. UE 1201 may start a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch. UE 1201 may start a TAT for early TA. Once the TAT expires, the early TA value is invalid. UE 1201 has to wait for the handover failure until the mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires. In this case, UE 1201 may determine a TAG ID based on the TCI state. For example, if TAG #0 is identified based on the TCI state, UE 1201 may access TAG #0 of the target cell via early TA.

[0366] In some further embodiments, the early TA value is not included in the LTM cell switch command received in operation 126, and UE 1201 is allowed to perform a RACH-less handover using a UE based measured TA value. UE 1201 may start a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch. UE 1201 may start a TAT for the UE based measured TA value. Once the TAT for the UE based measured TA value expires, the UE measured TA value is invalid. UE 1201 has to wait for the handover failure until the mobility timer (e.g. T304) expires. In this case, UE 1201 may determine a TAG ID based on the TCI state. There is an association between TAG ID and TCI state ID configured to UE 1201. For example, if TAG #0 is identified based on the TCI state, UE 1201 may access TAG #0 of the target cell via the UE based measured TA.

[0367] In some other embodiments, the early TA value is not included in LTM cell switch command received in operation 126, while UE1201 is not allowed to perform a RACH-less handover towards the target cell using a UE based measured TA value. UE 1201 may perform a RACH based handover towards the target cell. UE 1201 may determine a TAG ID based on the TCI state. There is an association between TAG ID and TCI state ID configured to UE 1201. For example, if TAG #0 is identified based on the TCI state, UE 1201 may access TAG #0 of the target cell via the RACH based handover.

[0368] In operation 128, there may be following two options according to different embodiments, i.e. Option #X and Option #Y.

[0369] Option #X (LTM cell switch failure) : In operation 128, the mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch expires. UE 1201 may perform a re-establishment procedure. After UE 1201 initiating the re-establishment procedure, there may be following two scenarios in different embodiments of operation 128.

[0370] (1) After UE 1201 successfully re-establishes to a cell, UE 1201 may transmit information indicating that failure related information (e.g. assistant information #3, e.g. LTM cell switch failure related information) is available to the cell (i.e. a reestablished cell) . Then, UE 1201 may transmit a report including the failure related information (e.g. assistant information #3) to the reestablished cell. Finally, the report will be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0371] (2) If UE 1201 fails to perform the re-establishment procedure, UE 1201 enters an RRC idle state. After UE 1201 accesses a selected cell via an RRC establishment procedure, UE 1201 may transmit information indicating that failure related information (i.e. LTM cell switch failure related information, e.g. assistant information #3) is available to the established cell. Then, UE1201 may transmit a report including the failure related information to the established cell. Finally, the report will be transferred to the gNB in which the failure occurs.

[0372] In some embodiments of Option #X, in operation 128, UE 1201 may transmit a UE information response message including an RLF-report including assistant information related to LTM cell switch failure (i.e. LTM cell switch failure related information, e.g.  assistant information #3) to the established cell. The report is the RLF-report in these embodiments.

[0373] In Option #X, for example, the LTM cell switch failure related information (e.g. assistant information #3) transmitted from UE 1201 in operation 128 includes at least one of the following:

[0374] (1) An indication to indicate whether a TAT for early TA expires when a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch is running.

[0375] (2) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when the TAT for early TA expires.

[0376] (3) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when the TAT for early TA expires.

[0377] (4) Elapsed running time of the TAT for early TA.

[0378] (5) An indication to indicate whether the TAT for UE based measurement TA expires when T304 is running.

[0379] (6) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when the TAT for UE based measurement expires.

[0380] (7) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when TAT for UE based measurement expires.

[0381] (8) Elapsed running time of the TAT for UE based measurement.

[0382] (9) TCI state for the handover.

[0383] (10) TAG ID for the handover for SON purpose.

[0384] Option #Y (successful LTM cell switch) : In operation 128, UE 1201 successfully completes the LTM cell switch. In some embodiments, a trigger condition for successful LTM related information (e.g. assistant information #3) is met.

[0385] In some embodiments of Option #Y, in operation 128, UE 1201 may transmit a UE information response message including a successful report (e.g. SHR) including assistant information related to successful LTM cell switch (i.e. successful LTM related  information, e.g. assistant information #3) to the established cell. The report is the successful report in these embodiments.

[0386] In some embodiments of Option #Y, the source cell may configure a trigger condition for a successful report, e.g. a threshold of T304, to UE 1101. For example, the threshold of T304 for the successful report (e.g. 20%, 40%, 60%or 80%) is configured. Assuming that a timer length of T304 is 600ms, UE 1201 determines if the elapsed running time of T304 since UE 1201 starts T304 is greater than the time value of 60%*600ms (=360ms) . If the elapsed running time of T304 since UE 1201 starts T304 is greater than 360ms, the trigger condition for the successful report is met. That is, elapsed of T304 being greater than 60%*a timer length of T304 will trigger the successful report.

[0387] If the trigger condition for the successful report is met, UE 1201 may log or store parameters of successful LTM related information (e.g. assistant information #3) . In some cases, UE 1201 may indicate information indicating that the successful LTM related information (e.g. assistant information #3) is available to the target cell. Then, the target cell will request UE 1201 to report the successful LTM related information. UE 1201 will transmit a report including the successful LTM related information (e.g. assistant information #3) to the target cell based on the request.

[0388] For example, the successful LTM related information (e.g. assistant information #3) transmitted from UE 1201 in operation 128 may include at least one of the following.

[0389] (1) An indication to indicate whether a TAT for early TA expires when a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch is running.

[0390] (2) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when the TAT for early TA expires.

[0391] (3) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when the TAT for early TA expires.

[0392] (4) Elapsed running time of the TAT for early TA.

[0393] (5) An indication to indicate whether the TAT for UE based measurement TA expires when T304 is running.

[0394] (6) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when the TAT for UE based measurement expires.

[0395] (7) Elapsed running time of a mobility timer (e.g. T304) for LTM cell switch when TAT for UE based measurement expires.

[0396] (8) Elapsed running time of the TAT for UE based measurement.

[0397] (9) TCI state for the handover.

[0398] (10) TAG ID for the handover for SON purpose.
