[0057] FIG. 4A is a perspective view showing an example of a display arranged on an exemplary electronic device according to one embodiment, and FIG. 4B is a cross-sectional view showing an example of an exemplary display taken along line A-A' of FIG. 4A according to one embodiment.

[0058] Referring to FIGS. 4A and 4B , according to one embodiment, an electronic device (400) (e.g., electronic device (101) of FIG. 1 , electronic device (200) of FIGS. 2A and 2B , and / or electronic device (300) of FIG. 3 ) may include a frame (410) (e.g., housing (210) of FIG. 2A ), a plurality of straps (420) (e.g., fastening members (250, 260) of FIGS. 2A and 2B ), and / or a display (500).

[0059] According to one embodiment, the frame (410) may form (or define) the overall appearance of the electronic device (400). The frame (410) may support various components of the electronic device (400). For example, the display (500) may be placed (or coupled) on the frame (410). The frame (410) may form (or provide) an internal space in which components of the electronic device (400) may be accommodated (or placed).

[0060] According to one embodiment, the plurality of straps (420) may be in contact with a part of the user's body while the electronic device (400) is worn by the user. The plurality of straps (420) may maintain (or fix) the position of the electronic device (400) with respect to a part of the user's body while the electronic device (400) is worn by the user. The plurality of straps (420) may be coupled to the frame (410). For example, the plurality of straps (420) may be coupled to the frame (410) so as to be movable with respect to the frame (410). For example, the plurality of straps (420) may be coupled to the frame (410) so as to be rotatable (or pivotable) with respect to the frame (410).

[0061] According to one embodiment, the display (500) may be configured to provide visual content. The display (500) may be exposed to the exterior of the electronic device (400) while being disposed on the frame (410). The display (500) may form (or define) a portion of the exterior of the electronic device (400). At least a portion of the display (500) may have a curved shape with a curvature. For example, at least a portion of the display (500) may have a dome shape to provide an aesthetic experience to the user through an exterior having various shapes. According to one embodiment, the display (500) may include a first display unit (510) and a second display unit (520).

[0062] In one embodiment, the first display unit (510) may represent a portion of the display (500). For example, the first display unit (510) may represent a portion of the display (500) configured to display visual content. For example, the first display unit (510) may include a plurality of pixels configured to emit light. The first display unit (510) may be referred to as a main driving unit (or driving region) of the display (500) for providing visual content. For example, the first display unit (510) may include a central portion of the display (500). In one embodiment, the first display unit (510) may be curved to have a curvature. For example, the first display unit (510) may be curved to have different curvatures at different locations of the first display unit (510). In other words, the curvature of the first display unit (510) may vary depending on the location of the first display unit (510). For example, the curvature of the first display unit (510) may have a minimum value at a location adjacent to the center of the display (500) and a maximum value at a location adjacent to the second display unit (520), but is not limited thereto.

[0063] In one embodiment, the second display unit (520) may represent another portion of the display (500). For example, the second display unit (520) may represent another portion of the display (500) configured to display visual content. For example, the second display unit (520) may include a plurality of pixels configured to emit light. The second display unit (520) may be referred to as a sub-drive unit (or drive area) of the display (500) for providing visual content. For example, the second display unit (520) may include an edge of the display (500) that surrounds the center of the display (500). The second display unit (520) may be connected to the first display unit (510). For example, the second display unit (520) may surround the first display unit (510). For example, the second display unit (520) may be arranged (or extended) along the edge of the first display unit (510).

[0064] According to one embodiment, the second display unit (520) may be curved to have a curvature. For example, the second display unit (520) may be curved to have different curvatures at different locations of the second display unit (520). In other words, the curvature of the second display unit (520) may vary depending on the location of the second display unit (520). For example, the curvature of the second display unit (520) may have a minimum value at a location adjacent to the first display unit (510) and a maximum value at a location adjacent to the frame (410) (or the plurality of straps (420)), but is not limited thereto. According to one embodiment, the curvature of the second display unit (520) may be greater than the curvature of the first display unit (510). For example, the curvature of each location within the second display unit (520) may be greater than the curvature of each location within the first display unit (510). Since the curvature of the second display unit (520) is greater than the curvature of the first display unit (510), the elongation of the second display unit (520) may be greater than the elongation of the first display unit (510). The elongation of one component may indicate the degree of deformation of one component due to stress generated as one component is bent. For example, the elongation of one component may be expressed as the ratio of the radius of curvature at one position of one component to the thickness of one component. The elongation of the first display unit (510) may be expressed by the first radius of curvature (r1) at the first position (p1) of the first display unit (510) and the thickness (t) of the first display unit (510). The elongation of the second display unit (520) may be expressed by the second radius of curvature (r2) at the second position (p2) of the second display unit (520) and the thickness (t) of the second display unit (520). Since the curvature of the second display unit (520) is greater than that of the first display unit (510), the elongation of the second display unit (520) may be greater than that of the first display unit (510).For example, as electronic devices (400) having various shapes are manufactured, the first display unit (510) and / or the second display unit (520) may be bent so that the display (500) has a curvature. Since the higher the elongation, the higher the possibility of damage due to stress, a structure for reducing damage to the second display unit (520) may be required. Hereinafter, a structure of the display (500) for reducing damage to the second display unit (520) will be described.

[0065] FIG. 5A is an enlarged top view of a portion of an exemplary display according to one embodiment, and FIG. 5B is an enlarged view of an exemplary first pixel and a third pixel according to one embodiment.

[0066] Referring to FIGS. 5A and 5B , according to one embodiment, the display (500) may further include a plurality of pixels (530), a plurality of pixel portions (540), and / or a plurality of connecting portions (550).

[0067] In one embodiment, a plurality of pixels (530) may be configured to emit light so that the display (500) can provide visual content. The plurality of pixels (530) may be arranged within the first display unit (510) and the second display unit (520). The plurality of pixels (530) may be included in the first display unit (510) and the second display unit (520). The plurality of pixels (530) may be spaced apart from each other. In one embodiment, the plurality of pixels (530) may include a first set of pixels (530-1) and a second set of pixels (530-2).

[0068] According to one embodiment, the first set of pixels (530-1) may be arranged within the first display unit (510). For example, the first set of pixels (530-1) may be spaced apart from each other within the first display unit (510). The first set of pixels (530-1) may have substantially the same size. According to one embodiment, the first set of pixels (530-1) may include a first pixel (531) and a second pixel (532). Each of the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532) may have a first size (or a first area). For example, the size of each of the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532) may represent a size when the display (500) is viewed from above. According to one embodiment, each of the pixels (530-1) of the first set may include a plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d). For example, each of the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532) may include a plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d). Each of the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532) may be formed of a plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d). The plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d) may include, but are not limited to, one sub-pixel for emitting red light, two sub-pixels for emitting green light, and / or one sub-pixel for emitting blue light. For example, the plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d) may include one sub-pixel for emitting red light, one sub-pixel for emitting green light, and / or one sub-pixel for emitting blue light. For example, the plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d) may include one sub-pixel for emitting red light, one sub-pixel for emitting green light, one sub-pixel for emitting blue light, and / or one sub-pixel for emitting white light. For example, the sizes of each of the plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d) may be different from each other, but are not limited thereto. For example, the sizes of each of the plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d) may be the same.

[0069] According to one embodiment, the second set of pixels (530-2) may be arranged within the second display unit (520). For example, the second set of pixels (530-2) may be spaced apart from each other within the second display unit (520). The second set of pixels (530-2) may have substantially the same size. According to one embodiment, the second set of pixels (530-2) may include a third pixel (533) and a fourth pixel (534). Each of the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534) may have a second size (or a second area) that is smaller than the first size. For example, the second size may be approximately 0.6 times the first size, but is not limited thereto. For example, the size of each of the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534) may represent a size when the display (500) is viewed from above. According to one embodiment, each of the pixels (530-2) of the second set may include a plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d). For example, each of the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534) may include a plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d). Each of the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534) may be formed of a plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d). The plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may include, but are not limited to, one sub-pixel for emitting red light, two sub-pixels for emitting green light, and / or one sub-pixel for emitting blue light. For example, the plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may include one sub-pixel for emitting red light, one sub-pixel for emitting green light, and / or one sub-pixel for emitting blue light. For example, the plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may include one sub-pixel for emitting red light, one sub-pixel for emitting green light, one sub-pixel for emitting blue light, and / or one sub-pixel for emitting white light. For example, the sizes of each of the plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may be different from each other, but are not limited thereto. For example, the sizes of each of the plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may be the same. According to one embodiment, the sizes of the plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may be smaller than the sizes of the plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d). For example, the size of each of the plurality of second sub-pixels (533a, 533b, 533c, 533d) may be smaller than the size of each of the plurality of first sub-pixels (531a, 531b, 531c, 531d), but is not limited thereto.

[0070] According to one embodiment, the distance between the centers of each of the plurality of pixels (530) may be the same. For example, a first distance (d1) between a first pixel (531) and a second pixel (532) may be substantially the same as a second distance (d2) between a third pixel (534) and a fourth pixel (534). The first distance (d1) may represent a straight-line distance between the center of the first pixel (531) and the center of the second pixel (532). The second distance (d2) may represent a straight-line distance between the center of the third pixel (533) and the center of the fourth pixel (534). Since the distance between the centers of each of the plurality of pixels (530) is the same, the PPI of the display (500) may be maintained substantially the same in the first display unit (510) and the second display unit (520).

[0071] According to one embodiment, each of the plurality of pixel portions (540) may support a plurality of pixels (530). For example, each of the plurality of pixel portions (540) may represent a portion (or an area) of the display (500) in which the plurality of pixels (530) are arranged. For example, each of the plurality of pixel portions (540) may include other components (e.g., a thin film transistor (TFT)) within the display (500) for driving the plurality of pixels (530). For example, one pixel of the plurality of pixels (530) may be arranged within each of the plurality of pixel portions (540), but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, two or more pixels of the plurality of pixels (530) may be arranged within each of the plurality of pixel portions (540). According to one embodiment, each of the plurality of pixel portions (540) may include a first set of pixel portions (540-1) and a second set of pixel portions (540-2).

[0072] According to one embodiment, the first set of pixel portions (540-1) may be arranged within the first display portion (510). For example, the first set of pixel portions (540-1) may be spaced apart from each other within the first display portion (510). The first set of pixel portions (540-1) may have substantially the same size. According to one embodiment, the first set of pixel portions (540-1) may include a first pixel portion (541) and a second pixel portion (542). The first pixel portion (541) may include a first pixel (531). The first pixel (531) may be arranged within the first pixel portion (541). The second pixel portion (542) may include a second pixel (532). The second pixel (532) may be arranged within the second pixel portion (542).

[0073] According to one embodiment, the second set of pixel portions (540-2) may be arranged within the second display portion (520). For example, the second set of pixel portions (540-2) may be spaced apart from each other within the second display portion (520). The second set of pixel portions (540-2) may have substantially the same size. According to one embodiment, the second set of pixel portions (540-2) may include a third pixel portion (543) and a fourth pixel portion (544). The third pixel portion (543) may include a third pixel (533). The third pixel (533) may be arranged within the third pixel portion (543). The fourth pixel portion (544) may include a fourth pixel (534). The fourth pixel (534) may be arranged within the fourth pixel portion (544). According to one embodiment, the size of each of the pixel portions (540-2) of the second set may be smaller than the size of each of the pixel portions (540-1) of the first set. For example, the size of each of the first pixel portion (541) and the second pixel portion (542) may be larger than the size of each of the third pixel portion (543) and the fourth pixel portion (544).

[0074] According to one embodiment, the plurality of connecting portions (550) may electrically connect the plurality of pixels (530). For example, each of the plurality of connecting portions (550) may include a connecting line that electrically connects the plurality of pixels (530). The connecting line may be formed of, for example, a conductive material. For example, the plurality of connecting portions (550) may be connected to the plurality of pixels (530). For example, the plurality of connecting portions (550) may connect the plurality of pixel portions (540) in which the plurality of pixels (530) are respectively arranged. The plurality of connecting portions (550) may be arranged between the plurality of pixels (530). For example, the plurality of connecting portions (550) may be arranged between the plurality of pixel portions (540) in which the plurality of pixels (530) are arranged. According to one embodiment, the plurality of connecting portions (550) may include a first set of connecting portions (550-1) and a second set of connecting portions (550-2).

[0075] According to one embodiment, the first set of connecting portions (550-1) may be arranged within the first display portion (510). The first set of connecting portions (550-1) may connect the first set of pixels (530-1). Each of the first set of connecting portions (550-1) may be arranged between each of the first set of pixels (530-1). The first set of connecting portions (550-1) may connect the first set of pixel portions (540-1). Each of the first set of connecting portions (550-1) may be arranged between each of the first set of pixel portions (540-1). According to one embodiment, the first set of connecting portions (550-1) may have a curved shape. Since the first set of connecting portions (550-1) has a curved shape, the display (500) can be robust against stress generated when the display (500) is bent. For example, the first set of connecting portions (550-1) can be bent to have a curvature. For example, each of the first set of connecting portions (550-1) can have a serpentine shape. According to one embodiment, the first set of connecting portions (550-1) can include at least one first connecting portion (551) connecting a first pixel (531) and a second pixel (532). The at least one first connecting portion (551) can connect the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532). For example, the at least one first connecting portion (551) can extend from the first pixel (531) to the second pixel (532). For example, at least one first connecting portion (551) can connect a first pixel portion (541) and a second pixel portion (542).

[0076] According to one embodiment, at least a portion of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be disposed within the second display portion (520). For example, at least a portion of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may connect the second set of pixels (530-2). Each of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be disposed between each of the second set of pixels (530-2). The second set of connecting portions (550-2) may connect the second set of pixel portions (540-2). Each of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be disposed between each of the second set of pixel portions (540-2). For example, a portion of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may connect the first set of pixels (530-1) and the second set of pixels (530-2). For example, some of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be disposed between the first display unit (510) and the second display unit (520). For example, some of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may connect one pixel of the first set of pixels (530-1) disposed within the first display unit (510) and one pixel of the second set of pixels (530-2) disposed within the second display unit (520). According to one embodiment, the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may have a curved shape. As the second set of connecting portions (550-2) has a curved shape, the display (500) may be robust to stress generated when the display (500) is bent. For example, the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be bent to have a curvature. For example, each of the second set of connectors (550-2) may have a serpentine shape. According to one embodiment, the second set of connectors (550-2) may include a plurality of second connectors (552) connecting the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534). The plurality of second connectors (552) may connect the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534).For example, the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may extend from the third pixel (533) to the fourth pixel (534). For example, the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may connect the third pixel portion (543) and the fourth pixel portion (544).

[0077] According to one embodiment, the resistance value of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be substantially equal to the resistance value of the first set of connecting portions (550-1). For example, the resistance value of at least one first connecting portion (551) may be substantially equal to the sum of the resistance values of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552). Since the resistance value of at least one first connecting portion (551) is substantially equal to the sum of the resistance values of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552), control of the plurality of pixels (530) arranged in the first display unit (510) and the second display unit (520) may be facilitated.

[0078] In one embodiment, the length of each of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be longer than the length of each of the first set of connecting portions (550-1). For example, the length of at least one first connecting portion (551) may be shorter than the length of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552). The length of an element may represent a distance in a direction parallel to the extension direction when the element has an elongated shape. For example, the length of at least one first connecting portion (551) may represent a length by which at least one first connecting portion (551) extends while bending between the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532). In other words, the length of at least one first connecting portion (551) may not represent a straight-line distance between the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532). For example, the length of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may represent a length by which each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) bends and extends between the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534). In other words, the length of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may not represent a straight-line distance between the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534). For example, at least one first connecting portion (551) may have a first length (l1), and each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may have a second length (l2) that is longer than the first length (l1). For example, the second length (l2) may be 1.5 times the first length (l1), but is not limited thereto. Since the curvature of the second display unit (520) is greater than the curvature of the first display unit (510), the magnitude of the stress applied to each of the plurality of second connecting units (552) arranged within the second display unit (520) may be greater than the magnitude of the stress applied to at least one first connecting unit (551) arranged within the first display unit (510).Since the longer the length, the less likely it is to be damaged by stress, the display (500) according to one embodiment can provide a structure in which the damage to the plurality of second connecting portions (552) can be reduced.

[0079] In one embodiment, the number of the second set of connectors (550-2) may be greater than the number of the first set of connectors (550-1). For example, the number of at least one first connector (551) between the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532) may be less than the number of the plurality of second connectors (552) between the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534). For example, although the number of the at least one first connector (551) is illustrated as one in FIGS. 5A and 5B , the number of the at least one first connector (551) may be two or more.

[0080] In one embodiment, the size of the cross-sectional area of each of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be smaller than the size of the cross-sectional area of each of the first set of connecting portions (550-1). The cross-sectional area of a component may represent a cross-sectional area when the component is cut in a direction perpendicular to the extension direction of the component. For example, the cross-sectional area of at least one first connecting portion (551) between the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532) may be larger than the cross-sectional area of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) between the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534). For example, the cross-sectional area of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) between the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534) may be approximately 0.75 times the cross-sectional area of at least one first connecting portion (551) between the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532). The sum of the cross-sectional areas of each of the second set of connecting portions (550-2) may be greater than the sum of the cross-sectional areas of each of the first set of connecting portions (550-1). For example, the sum of the cross-sectional areas of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) between the third pixel (533) and the fourth pixel (534) may be approximately 1.5 times the cross-sectional area of at least one first connecting portion (551) between the first pixel (531) and the second pixel (532). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. The resistance value of a component may be proportional to the length of the component and inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area of the component. In order to reduce stress-induced damage, since the second length (l2) of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) is longer than the first length (l1) of at least one first connecting portion (551), the sum of the cross-sectional areas of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may be greater than the sum of the at least one first connecting portion (551). Since the sum of the cross-sectional areas of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) is greater than the sum of the at least one first connecting portion (551), the resistance value of the at least one first connecting portion (551) and the resistance value of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) may be substantially the same.

[0081] According to one embodiment, the plurality of connecting portions (550) may include a plurality of third connecting portions (553). The plurality of third connecting portions (553) may connect a second pixel (532) disposed within the first display portion (510) and a third pixel (533) disposed within the second display portion (520). For example, the plurality of third connecting portions (553) may connect a second pixel portion (542) and a third pixel portion (543). The size of the plurality of third connecting portions (553) may be substantially the same as that of the plurality of second connecting portions (552). For example, the length of each of the plurality of third connecting portions (553) may be a second length (l2), which is the length of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552). For example, the cross-sectional area of each of the plurality of third connecting portions (553) may be substantially the same as the cross-sectional area of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552).

[0082] Meanwhile, although FIG. 5B illustrates that the first distance (d1) and the second distance (d2) are substantially equal so that the PPI of the display (500) is substantially constant, this is not limited thereto. For example, the first distance (d1) and the second distance (d2) may be different. When the first distance (d1) and the second distance (d2) are different, the PPI within the first display unit (510) may be different from the PPI within the second display unit (520).

[0083] As described above, the display (500) according to one embodiment can provide a structure capable of smoothly displaying visual content to a user while reducing damage to the second display (520), since the cross-sectional area of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) arranged in the second display portion (520) having a relatively large curvature is larger than the cross-sectional area of at least one first connecting portion (551), and the second length (l2) of each of the plurality of second connecting portions (552) is longer than the first length (l1) of at least one first connecting portion (551). Meanwhile, although FIGS. 4A and 4B illustrate that the display (500) according to one embodiment is arranged on an electronic device (400) having a watch shape, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the display (500) according to one embodiment can be arranged on a foldable device and / or a rollable device.

[0084] FIG. 6 illustrates an exemplary electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0085] Referring to FIG. 6, an electronic device (600) (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) may include a display (500), a first housing (610), a second housing (620), at least one camera (640) (e.g., the camera module (180) of FIG. 1), and / or a hinge structure (650).

[0086] According to one embodiment, the first housing (610) and the second housing (620) may form at least a portion of an outer surface of the electronic device (600) that can be gripped by a user. At least a portion of the outer surface of the electronic device (600) defined by the first housing (610) and the second housing (620) may come into contact with a portion of the user's body when the electronic device (600) is used by the user. According to one embodiment, the first housing (610) may include a first side (611), and a second side (612) facing the first side (611) and spaced apart from the first side (611). The second side (612) may be opposite to the first side (611). For example, the direction in which the second side (612) faces may be opposite to the first direction (d1) in which the first side (611) faces.

[0087] In one embodiment, the second housing (620) may include a third face (621), and a fourth face (622) facing the third face (621) and spaced apart from the third face (621). The fourth face (622) may be opposite to the third face (621). For example, the direction in which the fourth face (622) faces may be opposite to the second direction (d2) in which the third face (621) faces. In one embodiment, the second housing (620) may be coupled to the first housing (610) so as to be rotatable with respect to the first housing (610).

[0088] In one embodiment, the display (500) may be disposed on a first side (611) of the first housing (610) and a third side (621) of the second housing (620) across the hinge structure (650). For example, the display (500) may be referred to as a flexible display. In one embodiment, the display (500) may further include a sub-display (630) disposed on a second side (622) of the first housing (610). For example, the sub-display (630) may be exposed to the outside of the electronic device (600) through the second side (622).

[0089] According to one embodiment, the first display portion (510) of the display (500) may be disposed on the first housing (610) and / or the second housing (620). The second display portion (520) of the display (500) may be disposed on the hinge structure (650). The second display portion (520) may be aligned with the hinge structure (650). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the second display portion (520) may be disposed along an edge of the first display portion (510).

[0090] In one embodiment, at least one camera (640) may be configured to acquire an image based on receiving light from a subject external to the electronic device (600). In one embodiment, at least one camera (640) may be disposed within the first housing (610) and at least a portion of the camera may be visible through the second side (612) of the first housing (610).

[0091] According to one embodiment, the hinge structure (650) can rotatably connect the first housing (610) and the second housing (620). The hinge structure (650) can be disposed between the first housing (610) and the second housing (620) of the electronic device (101) so that the electronic device (600) can be folded. The hinge structure (650) can change the electronic device (600) into an unfolding state in which a first direction (d1) toward which a first surface (611) of the first housing (610) faces and a second direction (d2) toward which a third surface (621) of the second housing (620) faces are substantially the same, or into a folding state in which the first surface (611) and the third surface (621) face each other. When the electronic device (600) is in a folded state, the first housing (610) and the second housing (620) may be overlapped or covered by facing each other. According to one embodiment, when the electronic device (600) is in a folded state, the first direction (d1) toward which the first side (611) faces and the second direction (d2) toward which the third side (621) faces may be different from each other. For example, when the electronic device (600) is in a folded state, the direction (d1) toward which the first side (611) faces and the second direction (d2) toward which the third side (621) faces may be opposite to each other. However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the state of the electronic device (600) may include an intermediate state in which the first direction (d1) toward which the first side (611) faces and the second direction (d2) toward which the third side (621) faces are inclined with respect to each other. When the first direction (d1) toward which the first surface (611) faces is tilted with respect to the second direction (d2) toward which the third surface (621) faces, the first housing (610) can be tilted with respect to the second housing (620). For example, the intermediate state of the electronic device (600) can be referred to as a flex mode.

[0092] Although FIG. 6 illustrates that the display (500) is not exposed to the outside of the electronic device (600) in the folded state of the electronic device (600), the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the second housing (620) may be rotatable relative to the first housing (610) so that the second side (612) and the fourth side (622) face each other in the folded state of the electronic device (600). For example, the second housing (620) may be rotatable relative to the first housing (610) so that the display (500) is directly exposed to the outside of the electronic device (600) in the folded state of the electronic device (600).

[0093] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (600) may be foldable about a folding axis (f1). The display (500) may be foldable about the folding axis (f1) by movement of the second housing (620) relative to the first housing (610).

[0094] For example, the folding axis (f1) may mean, but is not limited to, an imaginary line extending through the hinge structure (650) in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the electronic device (600). For example, the folding axis (f1) may be an imaginary line extending in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the electronic device (600). When the folding axis (f1) extends in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the electronic device (600), the hinge structure (650) may extend in a direction parallel to the folding axis (f1) to connect the first housing (610) and the second housing (620).

[0095] FIG. 7A illustrates an exemplary electronic device according to one embodiment, and FIG. 7B is a cross-sectional view taken along line B-B' of FIG. 7A illustrating an exemplary electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0096] Referring to FIGS. 7A and 7B, the electronic device (700) may include a display (500), a first housing (710), and / or a second housing (720).

[0097] In one embodiment, the first housing (710) can accommodate at least a portion of the second housing (720). The first housing (710) can enclose (or surround) at least a portion of the second housing (720).

[0098] In one embodiment, the second housing (720) may be movable relative to the first housing (710). The second housing (720) may be movable linearly relative to the first housing (710). The second housing (720) may be slidable relative to the first housing (710). For example, the second housing (720) may be movable relative to the first housing (710) in a third direction (d3) and / or in a fourth direction (d4) opposite to the third direction (d3). As the second housing (720) moves in the third direction (d3), the second housing (720) may slide outward from the first housing (710). As the second housing (720) moves in the fourth direction (d4), the second housing (720) may slide inward from the first housing (710). The state of the electronic device (700) may be changed by movement of the second housing (720) with respect to the first housing (710). The state of the electronic device (700) may include a slide-in state and / or a slide-out state. Within the slide-in state of the electronic device (700), the second housing (720) may be movable in a third direction (d3) among a third direction (d3) and a fourth direction (d4) with respect to the first housing (710). For example, within the slide-in state of the electronic device (700), the second housing (720) may be movable only in the third direction (d3). Within the slide-out state of the electronic device (700), the second housing (720) may be movable in a fourth direction (d4) among the third direction (d3) and the fourth direction (d4) with respect to the first housing (710). For example, within the slide-out state of the electronic device (700), the second housing (720) may be movable only in the fourth direction (d4).

[0099] According to one embodiment, the display (500) may be disposed on the second housing (720). The display (500) may be movable relative to the first housing (710) by movement of the second housing (720) relative to the first housing (710). For example, the display (500) may be movable from the inside of the first housing (710) to the inside of the first housing (710) by movement of the second housing (720) in the third direction (d3). For example, in a slide-out state of the electronic device (700), the size of the electronic device (700) exposed to the outside of the first housing (710) may be maximum. For example, the display (500) may be movable from the outside of the first housing (710) to the inside of the first housing (710) by movement of the second housing (720) in the fourth direction (d4). For example, the display (500) can be rolled into the interior of the first housing (710) from the outside of the first housing (710) by movement of the second housing (720) in the fourth direction (d4).

[0100] According to one embodiment, the first display unit (510) may be disposed on the second housing (710). The shape of the first display unit (510) may be maintained independently of the movement of the second housing (720) with respect to the first housing (710). The first display unit (510) may not be deformed by the movement of the second housing (720) with respect to the first housing (710). The first display unit (510) may be exposed to the outside of the first housing (710) independently of the movement of the second housing (720) with respect to the first housing (710).

[0101] According to one embodiment, the second display unit (520) may be connected to the first display unit (510). The second display unit (520) may be positioned (or accommodated) inside the first housing (710) and the second housing (720) within the slide-in state of the electronic device (700). At least a portion of the second display unit (520) may be positioned (or exposed) outside the first housing (710) and the second housing (720) within the slide-out state of the electronic device (700).

[0102] According to one embodiment, within the slide-in state of the electronic device (700), the size of the display area of the display (500) that is visible from the outside may be minimum. For example, within the slide-in state of the electronic device (700), only the first display unit (510) may be exposed. The position of the second housing (720) relative to the first housing (710) while the electronic device (700) is in the slide-in state may be referred to as the reduced position. Within the slide-out state of the electronic device (700), the size of the display area of the display (500) that is visible from the outside may be maximum. For example, within the slide-out state of the electronic device (700), at least a portion of the first display unit (510) and the second display unit (520) may be exposed. However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, within the slide-out state of the electronic device (700), the second display unit (520) may not be exposed to the outside of the first housing (710). The position of the second housing (720) relative to the first housing (710) while the electronic device (700) is in the slide-out state may be referred to as the extended position.

[0103] FIG. 8A illustrates an example of an unfolded state of an electronic device according to one embodiment. FIG. 8B illustrates an example of a fully folded state of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0104] Referring to FIG. 8A, the electronic device (800) can be unfolded in a first state (801a). The electronic device (800) can include a first housing (810), a second housing (820), and a third housing (830). The first housing (810) can include a first surface (810a). The second housing (820) can include a second surface (820a). The third housing (830) can include a third surface (830a). The first state (801a) can be a state in which the first surface (810a), the second surface (820a), and the third surface (830a) are oriented in substantially the same first direction (e.g., the z-axis direction). The first state (801a) is a state in which the first housing (810), the second housing (820), and the third housing (830) are unfolded, and may be referred to as an unfolded state. Within the first state (801a), the first housing (810), the second housing (820), and the third housing (830) may form a substantially flat surface. For example, the first surface (810a), the second surface (820a), and the third surface (830a) may form a flat surface because the first housing (810), the second housing (820), and the third housing (830) include a substantially flat surface.

[0105] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may include a first hinge structure (802 (802a, 802b)) and a second hinge structure (803 (803a, 803b)). The first hinge structure (802) may include a plurality of first hinge structures (802a, 802b). The second hinge structure (803) may include a plurality of second hinge structures (803a, 803b). The first hinge structures (802a, 802b) may be disposed between a first housing (810) and a second housing (820). The first hinge structures (802a, 802b) may rotatably connect the second housing (820) to the first housing (810). For example, through the first hinge structures (802a, 802b), the second housing (820) can rotate with respect to the first housing (810) about the first folding axis (f3). Through the rotation of the second housing (820), the first angle (Θ1) between the first housing (810) and the second housing (820) can be approximately 0 to 180 degrees. The second hinge structures (803a, 803b) can be arranged between the first housing (810) and the third housing (830). The second hinge structures (803a, 803b) can rotatably connect the third housing (830) with respect to the first housing (810). For example, through the second hinge structures (803a, 803b), the third housing (830) can rotate with respect to the first housing (810) about the second folding axis (f4). Through the rotation of the third housing (830), the first angle (Θ1) between the first housing (810) and the third housing (830) can be approximately 0 to 180 degrees.

[0106] According to one embodiment, the first hinge structures (802a, 802b) may be surrounded by a first hinge cover (850). One (802a) of the first hinge structures (802a, 802b) may be disposed at one end of the first hinge cover (850), and the other (802b) may be disposed at the other end of the first hinge cover (850). The second hinge structures (803a, 803b) may be surrounded by a second hinge cover (860). One (803a) of the second hinge structures (803a, 803b) may be disposed at one end of the second hinge cover (860), and the other (803b) may be disposed at the other end of the second hinge cover (860).

[0107] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may further include a display (500). The display (500) may be disposed on one surface formed by the first housing (810), the second housing (820), and the third housing (830). The display (500) may be disposed on the first surface (810a), the second surface (820a), and the third surface (830a). The display (500) may include a first display area (840a), a second display area (840b), and a third display area (840c). The first display area (840a) may be disposed on the first surface (810a) of the first housing (810). The first display area (840a) may be an area that is coupled to the first surface (810a) and is not deformable. The second display area (840b) may be arranged on the second surface (820a) of the second housing (820). The second display area (840b) may be an area that is coupled to the second surface (820a) and is not deformed. The third display area (840c) may be arranged on the third surface (830a) of the third housing (830). The third display area (840c) may be an area that is coupled to the third surface (830a) and is not deformed. The first display area (840a), the second display area (840b), and the third display area (840c) may be referred to as planar areas in terms of their substantially flat surfaces.

[0108] According to one embodiment, the display (500) may further include a fourth display area (840d) and a fifth display area (840e). The fourth display area (840d) may be disposed on the first hinge cover (850). The fourth display area (840d) may be coupled with the first hinge cover (850) or the first hinge structures (802a, 802b). For example, the fourth display area (840d) may be supported by a hinge plate (not shown) included in the first hinge structures (802a, 802b). The fourth display area (840d) may be deformed as the second housing (820) rotates about the first folding axis (f3) with respect to the first housing (810).

[0109] According to one embodiment, the fifth display area (840e) may be disposed on the second hinge cover (860). The fifth display area (840e) may be coupled with the second hinge cover (860) or the second hinge structures (803a, 803b). For example, the fifth display area (840e) may be supported by a hinge plate (not shown) included in the second hinge structures (803a, 803b). The fifth display area (840e) may be deformed as the third housing (830) rotates about the second folding axis (f4) with respect to the first housing (810).

[0110] According to one embodiment, the fourth display area (840d) may be wider than the area of the fifth display area (840e). For example, the first distance (p1), which is the width of the fourth display area (840d), may be longer than the second distance (p2), which is the width of the fifth display area (840e). When the electronic device (800) is converted to a folded state, the radius of curvature of the fourth display area (840d) may be larger than the radius of curvature of the fifth display area (840e).

[0111] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may further include first magnets (801a, 201b). The first magnets (810a, 810b) may be disposed within the second housing (820). For example, the first magnets (810a) may be disposed on a side surface of the second housing (820). The first magnets (810a) may be disposed closer to a side surface of the second housing (820) facing the first hinge cover (850) than to the other side surface facing the side surface. The first magnets (810a) may at least partially overlap an inactive area disposed along an edge of the second display area (840b) when the display (500) is viewed from above. The first magnets (801a, 201b) can be arranged to face the second hinge structures (803a, 803b) when the second housing (820) rotates and folds along the first folding axis (f3).

[0112] Referring to FIG. 8B, the electronic device (800) can be folded in a second state (801b). The second state (801b) may be a state in which at least one of the first surface (810a), the second surface (820a), and the third surface (830a) faces a different direction. The third display area (840c) corresponding to the third surface (830a) may face substantially the same direction as the direction (e.g., the -z-axis direction) in which the second display area (840b) corresponding to the second surface (820a) faces. The third display area (840c) may face a different direction from the direction in which the first display area (840a) corresponding to the first surface (810a) faces. For example, the direction in which the third display area (840c) faces (e.g., the -z-axis direction) may be the opposite direction to the direction in which the first display area (840a) faces (e.g., the +z-axis direction). The third display area (840c) may face the first display area (840a). The second state (801b) may be referred to as a folded state in that the first housing (810), the second housing (820), and the third housing (830) are folded. Within the second state (801b), the first housing (810), the second housing (820), and the third housing (830) may face each other. For example, within the second state (801b), the first housing (810), the third housing (830), and the second housing (820) may be stacked in the first direction (e.g., the z-axis direction).

[0113] According to one embodiment, while changing from the first state (801a) to the second state (801b), the second housing (820) can rotate about the first folding axis (f3) with respect to the first housing (810) via the first hinge structure (802). Within the second state (801b), the second housing (820) can face the third housing (830). For example, within the second state (801b), the second display area (840b) disposed in the second housing (820) can face the rear surface (831) of the third housing (830).

[0114] According to one embodiment, the third housing (830) can rotate about the second folding axis (f4) with respect to the first housing (810) through the second hinge structure (803). In the second state (801b), the third housing (830) can face the first housing (810). For example, in the second state (801b), the third display area (840c) disposed in the third housing (830) can face the first display area (840a) disposed in the first housing (810). The side surface (832) of the third housing (830) can face the fourth display area (840d).

[0115] According to one embodiment, when the first hinge cover (850) is viewed from above in the second state (801b), the overlapping area of the display (500) and the first hinge structure (802) may be wider than the overlapping area of the display (500) and the second hinge structure (803) when the second hinge cover (860) is viewed from above. The first distance (p1), which is the width of the first hinge cover (850) corresponding to the fourth display area (840d), may be longer than the second distance (p2), which is the width of the second hinge cover (860) corresponding to the fifth display area (840e) (e.g., the fifth display area (840e) of FIG. 11a). The difference between the first distance (p1) and the second distance (p2) may correspond to the thickness of the second housing (820).

[0116] According to one embodiment, based on the difference between the first distance (p1) and the second distance (p2), the first foldable housing among the second housing (820) and the third housing (830) can be determined. For example, the third housing (830) can first rotate around the second folding axis (f4) with respect to the first housing (810). After the third housing (830) is folded, the second housing (820) can rotate around the first folding axis (f3) with respect to the first housing (810). Since the width of the second hinge structure (803) is narrower than the width of the first hinge structure (802), the third housing (830) can fold to face the first housing (810). For example, as the width of the first hinge cover (850) is wider than the width of the second hinge cover (860), the third housing (830) can be folded to face the first housing (810) based on the operation of the second hinge structure (803) within the second hinge cover (860). As the width of the first hinge structure (802) is wider than the width of the second hinge structure (803), the second housing (820) can be folded to face the rear surface (831) of the third housing (830). For example, since the width of the first hinge cover (850) is wider than the width of the second hinge cover (860), the second housing (830) can be folded to face the rear surface (831) of the third housing (830) based on the operation of the first hinge structure (802) within the first hinge cover (850).

The second display unit (520) may be aligned with at least one of the first hinge structure (802) and the second hinge structure (803). The second display unit (520) may face at least one of the first hinge structure (802) and the second hinge structure (803). For example, the second display unit (520) may include a plurality of second display units aligned with the first hinge structure (802) and the second hinge structure (803). For example, the second display unit (520) may include a plurality of second display units aligned with the fourth display area (840d) and the fifth display area (840e).
