[0033] During their research, the inventors discovered that in related technologies, the motors in vehicle power units convert electricity into power. Each of the multiple motors is connected to a battery. To improve battery state consistency, multiple motors must operate simultaneously, which reduces efficiency. Large vehicles and other equipment require relatively high-power and reliable power units. Vehicles such as mining trucks use manual shifting or AMTs (Automated Mechanical Transmissions) and non-direct drive power units, which can result in power interruptions and pose a safety hazard when shifting on hills while loaded. When a power unit with a voltage of up to 900 volts is equipped with a single motor, the relatively high current generated requires control components with stronger current capacity and higher costs, making implementation difficult and costly. Failure of a single motor can cause the power unit to cease operation.
[0034] To address at least one of the technical problems in the prior art or related art, the present application provides a vehicle power unit, a control method for a vehicle power unit, and a vehicle. A vehicle power unit, a control method for a vehicle power unit, and a vehicle according to some embodiments of the present application are described below with reference to Figures 1 to 7 .
[0035] Referring to Figures 1 to 6, a vehicle power device of an embodiment provided in the present application includes a vehicle control unit and multiple power systems, each power system includes: a battery for providing electricity; a motor for using the power of the battery to provide power; a micro control unit connected to the battery, the motor and the vehicle control unit respectively, for providing the power of the battery to the motor, and transmitting the speed, torque and power of the motor to the vehicle control unit; the motors of each power system are connected in series, and the vehicle control unit is used to control the number of running motors according to the speed, torque and power of the motors, and send control instructions to the micro control unit so that the micro control unit controls the operation of the motors according to the control instructions.
[0036] It should be noted that FIG1 shows an embodiment including three power systems and is not intended to limit the scope of protection of this application. The vehicle power unit of the exemplary embodiment may include more power systems. The first motor, the second motor, and the third motor are connected in series and directly connected to the axle or bridge, etc. to realize a direct-drive power unit. For example, as shown in FIG1 , the first motor, the second motor, and the third motor connected in series can be connected to the reducer 200, and the reducer 200 can be connected to the wheel 100. Exemplarily, the first power system includes: a first motor, a first MCU (Microcontroller Unit), a first battery, and a first BMS (Battery Management System), wherein the first motor, the first MCU, the first battery, and the first BMS are connected in sequence. The second power system and the third power system also have similar structures and will not be described in detail here.
[0037] In an exemplary embodiment, the first, second, and third BMSs, the first, second, and third MCUs, the Vehicle Controller Unit (VCU), the shift lever, the accelerator, the retarder, the foot brake, and the parking brake are connected via a CAN (Controller Area Network). The VCU sends control commands to the corresponding MCU to control the corresponding motors. The BMS monitors the battery status; the MCU monitors the motor status and provides power to the motors. The three power systems can be considered connected in parallel. The total output voltage of the three power systems can be 600V. The multiple batteries enable simultaneous charging using multiple charging guns to save charging time. The multiple motors are connected in series and directly driven, reducing or even eliminating power interruptions, thereby improving system reliability and stability and mitigating safety hazards. The ability to control the number of motors in operation allows for a combination of different motors, enabling flexible motor selection. Fewer motors can be used as needed, improving efficiency. Furthermore, motors that are stable and efficient can be operated, further improving stability and efficiency and reducing energy consumption. Compared to running three motors simultaneously, operating a single motor can improve efficiency by 20% or more. Because multiple motors and their corresponding batteries share the voltage and current of the vehicle's powertrain, control complexity is reduced and relatively low-cost components can be utilized, making it easier to implement and less expensive. When multiple motors are connected in series, if one motor shuts down due to a fault, a non-faulty motor can be selected for operation, reducing the downtime rate.
[0038] Furthermore, the vehicle control unit is further configured to: in a driving mode, determine whether the speed of the motor is less than or equal to the rated speed; when the speed of the motor is less than or equal to the rated speed, determine the range of the motor torque; when the torque of the motor is less than or equal to 1 / N of the rated torque, operate one motor; when the torque of the motor is greater than (X-1) / N of the rated torque and less than or equal to X / N of the rated torque, operate X motors; and when the torque of the motor is greater than (N-1) / N of the rated torque, operate N motors; when the speed of the motor is greater than the rated speed, determine the range of the motor power; when the power of the motor is less than or equal to 1 / N of the rated power, operate one motor; when the power of the motor is greater than (X-1) / N of the rated power and less than or equal to X / N of the rated power, operate X motors; and when the power of the motor is greater than (N-1) / N of the rated power, operate N motors; N and X are natural numbers, N is greater than or equal to 3, and X is greater than 1 and less than N.
[0039] For example, in the driving mode, it is determined whether the motor speed is less than or equal to the rated speed; when the motor speed is less than or equal to the rated speed, the motor torque range is determined. When the motor torque is less than or equal to 1 / N of the rated torque, one motor is operated. When the motor torque is greater than 1 / N of the rated torque and less than or equal to 2 / N of the rated torque, two motors are operated. Similarly, when the motor torque is greater than (N-1) / N of the rated torque, N motors are operated. When the motor speed is greater than the rated speed, the motor power range is determined. When the motor power is less than or equal to 1 / N of the rated power, one motor is operated. When the motor power is greater than 1 / N of the rated power and less than or equal to 2 / N of the rated power, two motors are operated. Similarly, when the motor power is greater than (N-1) / N of the rated power, N motors are operated. N is a natural number, N is greater than or equal to 3, and N is the total number of motors.
[0040] For example, if the current vehicle power unit contains three motors, the value of N is 3. First, the current speed of the motor is judged. If the current speed is less than or equal to the rated speed of the motor, the torque of the motor is judged against the rated torque, and the rated torque is divided into three equal segments to form three subsets. The torque of the motor belongs to one of the three subsets, corresponding to the operation of a single motor, dual motors, or three motors in the vehicle power unit; if the current speed is greater than the rated speed of the motor, the power of the motor is judged against the rated power, and the rated power is divided into three equal segments to form three subsets. The power of the motor belongs to one of the three subsets, corresponding to the operation of a single motor, dual motors, or three motors in the vehicle power unit.
[0041] In an exemplary embodiment, by selecting the number of motors that matches a specific power rating or torque rating, the number of operating motors can be appropriately distributed within a feasible range. If motor efficiency shows signs of decreasing, the number of operating motors can be promptly increased or decreased. For example, specific torque ratings and specific power ratings can indicate significant changes in motor efficiency. The number of operating motors can be adjusted before significant changes occur, thereby maximizing efficiency and operational stability.
[0042] Furthermore, the vehicle control unit is further configured to: in a braking mode, determine whether the speed of the motor is less than or equal to the peak torque inflection point speed; when the speed of the motor is less than or equal to the peak torque inflection point speed, determine the range of the motor torque; when the torque of the motor is less than 1 / N of the peak torque, operate one motor; when the torque of the motor is greater than or equal to (X-1) / N of the peak torque and less than X / N of the peak torque, operate X motors; and when the torque of the motor is greater than or equal to (N-1) / N of the peak torque, operate N motors; when the speed of the motor is greater than the peak torque inflection point speed, determine the range of the motor power; when the power of the motor is less than 1 / N of the peak power, operate one motor; when the power of the motor is greater than or equal to (X-1) / N of the peak power and less than X / N of the peak power, operate X motors; and when the power of the motor is greater than or equal to (N-1) / N of the peak power, operate N motors; N and X are natural numbers, N is greater than or equal to 3, and X is greater than 1 and less than N.
[0043] For example, in the braking mode, it is determined whether the motor speed is less than or equal to the peak torque inflection point speed; wherein the peak torque inflection point speed is the inflection point speed of the motor external characteristic curve. When the motor speed is less than or equal to the peak torque inflection point speed, the motor torque range is judged. When the motor torque is less than 1 / N of the peak torque, one motor is operated. When the motor torque is greater than or equal to 1 / N of the peak torque and less than 2 / N of the peak torque, two motors are operated. Similarly, when the motor torque is greater than or equal to (N-1) / N of the peak torque, N motors are operated. When the motor speed is greater than the peak torque inflection point speed, the motor power range is judged. When the motor power is less than 1 / N of the peak power, one motor is operated. When the motor power is greater than or equal to 1 / N of the peak power and less than 2 / N of the peak power, two motors are operated. Similarly, when the motor power is greater than or equal to (N-1) / N of the peak power, N motors are operated. N is a natural number, N is greater than or equal to 3, and N is the total number of motors.
[0044] In an exemplary embodiment, the peak torque inflection point speed can be understood as follows: a constant torque state refers to a motor with a constant output torque over a period of time; a constant power state refers to a motor with a constant output power over a period of time. The speed at which the motor transitions from the constant torque state to the constant power state is the peak torque inflection point speed. Specifically, after starting the motor, the motor speed gradually increases, the motor output power gradually increases, and the motor output torque remains constant, indicating that the motor is in a constant torque state. The speed increases until the motor output power reaches its maximum value (i.e., peak power), which is considered the inflection point speed. Subsequently, as the speed continues to increase, the motor output torque begins to decrease, while the motor output power remains at peak power, indicating that the motor is in a constant power state. In braking mode, the specific ratio peak torque and specific ratio peak power can reflect states where motor efficiency is experiencing significant changes. The number of motors in operation can be adjusted before significant changes occur, thereby maximizing efficiency and operational stability.
[0045] For example, if the current vehicle power unit contains three motors, the value of N is 3, and the current motor speed and the inflection point speed of the motor external characteristic curve are judged. If the current speed is less than or equal to the inflection point speed of the external characteristic curve, the braking demand torque and the assembly peak torque are judged, and the assembly peak torque is divided into three equal segments to form three subsets. The braking demand torque belongs to one of the three subsets, corresponding to the operation of a single motor, dual motors, and three motors in the power unit; if the current speed is greater than the inflection point speed of the external characteristic curve, the braking demand power and the assembly peak power are judged, and the assembly peak power is divided into three equal segments to form three subsets. The braking demand power belongs to one of the three subsets, corresponding to the operation of a single motor, dual motors, and three motors in the powertrain.
[0046] In the exemplary embodiment, Figures 2 and 3 correspond to the driving mode and the braking mode, respectively. Although these figures are illustrated using three motors as an example, the embodiment can be expanded to more motors and can achieve corresponding technical effects, which will not be repeated here.
[0047] Furthermore, each power system also includes: a battery management system, which is connected to the vehicle control unit and the battery respectively, and is used to transmit the battery's SOC (State of Charge) to the vehicle control unit. The vehicle control unit is also used to control the operation of the motor according to the battery's SOC value.
[0048] In an exemplary embodiment, the charge state value can reflect the percentage of the remaining battery power to the total power, that is, reflect the battery power consumption. According to the battery power consumption, the operating state of the motor is changed in time, thereby changing the operating state of the battery, so that the battery power can meet the needs and achieve the effect of flexible control of the battery power.
[0049] Furthermore, the vehicle power device includes three power systems, and the vehicle control unit is also used to: in the driving mode, when the number of running motors is 1, select the motor corresponding to the battery with the largest charge state value for driving, and when the difference between the maximum charge state value and the intermediate charge state value is greater than or equal to a first threshold value, reselect the motor corresponding to the battery with the largest charge state value for driving; when the number of running motors is 2, select the motors corresponding to the two batteries with relatively large charge state values for driving, and when the difference between the intermediate charge state value and the minimum charge state value is greater than or equal to the first threshold value, reselect the two batteries with relatively large charge state values. The motors corresponding to the batteries are used for driving; in braking mode, when the number of running motors is 1, the motor corresponding to the battery with the smallest charge state value is selected for braking, and when the difference between the intermediate charge state value and the minimum charge state value is greater than or equal to a first threshold value, the motor corresponding to the battery with the smallest charge state value is reselected for braking; when the number of running motors is 2, the motors corresponding to the two batteries with relatively small charge state values are selected for braking, and when the difference between the maximum charge state value and the intermediate charge state value is greater than or equal to the first threshold value, the motors corresponding to the two batteries with relatively small charge state values are reselected for braking.
[0050] It should be noted that the charge state values of the three batteries can be sorted, and in ascending order, they can be the minimum charge state value, the intermediate charge state value, and the maximum charge state value. In an exemplary embodiment, referring to Figures 4 and 5, in driving mode and braking mode, in order to achieve SOC balance, the charge state values can be compared to select or switch the motor to be operated, thereby making the charge state values of the multiple batteries relatively balanced and achieving the effect of reasonably distributing the battery power.
[0051] Exemplarily, the vehicle power unit includes three power systems, and the vehicle control unit is also used to: judge the range of the battery's charge state value, so that the motor corresponding to the battery with a charge state value less than the second threshold is not operated in the forward drive mode, and the motor corresponding to the battery with a charge state value greater than or equal to the third threshold is not operated in the braking mode.
[0052] Furthermore, the vehicle power unit includes three power systems, and the micro control unit is also used to transmit the motor temperature of the motor to the vehicle control unit. The vehicle control unit is also used to: enable the motor to operate normally when the motor temperature is in the first temperature range, enable the motor to operate at reduced power when the motor temperature is in the second temperature range, and enable the motor to not operate when the motor temperature is in the third temperature range.
[0053] In an exemplary embodiment, referring to FIG. 6 , a strategy selection can be used to determine whether to control the motor based on motor temperature or based on the battery's State of Charge (SOC). Motor derating operation may mean reducing the motor's operating power to improve motor operating stability in a low-power state.
