Abstract
Description
Polypropylene resin composition and molded article manufactured therefrom
[0001] The present invention relates to a polypropylene resin composition and a molded article manufactured therefrom. More specifically, the present invention relates to a polypropylene resin composition manufactured therefrom, which is environmentally friendly and exhibits excellent flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and a balance of these properties, utilizing recycled materials.
[0002]
[0003] Polypropylene resin has excellent chemical resistance, weather resistance, and processability, making it easy to manufacture into injection molded products, films, and blow molded products. It is a widely used material in fields such as electrical components, automobiles, and building materials.
[0004] In response to environmental issues such as carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction, there is a growing demand for the development of recycled plastics that recycle used thermoplastic resins such as polypropylene resin.
[0005] However, recycled plastics suffer from deterioration in mechanical properties compared to conventional plastic materials (thermoplastic resin compositions) due to their long-term use, oxidation, and subsequent thermal degradation during reprocessing. Furthermore, with the growing demand for flame-retardant materials and regulations in response to large-scale fires, there is growing market resistance to halogen-based flame retardants due to environmental concerns, and the increasing demand for reinforcing materials due to thinner products.
[0006] Therefore, there is a need to develop a polypropylene resin composition that is environmentally friendly by using recycled polypropylene resin and has excellent flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and a balance of these physical properties even when using recycled polypropylene resin.
[0007] The background technology of the present invention is disclosed in Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2015-0141967, etc.
[0008]
[0009] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polypropylene resin composition that is environmentally friendly and has excellent flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and a balance of these physical properties, using recycled polypropylene resin.

[0025]
[0026] The present invention has the effect of providing a polypropylene resin composition that is environmentally friendly and has excellent flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and a balance of these physical properties, and a molded article formed therefrom using recycled polypropylene resin.
[0027]
[0028] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail as follows.
[0029] A polypropylene resin composition according to the present invention comprises (A) a polypropylene resin; (B) a recycled polypropylene resin; (C) a phosphorus-based flame retardant; (D) talc; and (E) sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate.
[0030] In this specification, “a to b” indicating a numerical range is defined as “≥a and ≤b”.
[0031]
[0032] (A) Polypropylene resin
[0033] According to one specific example of the present invention, a polypropylene resin can be applied together with a phosphorus-based flame retardant, talc, and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, etc., even when applying a recycled polypropylene resin, thereby improving the flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and the balance of these physical properties of the polypropylene resin composition, and a polypropylene resin (new material) applied to a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.
[0034] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may include at least one of a homopolypropylene resin, a block polypropylene resin, and a random polypropylene resin. Here, the block polypropylene resin may be a block polypropylene resin composed of a homopolypropylene block and an ethylene-propylene copolymer block and / or a homopolyethylene block, and the random polypropylene resin may be a propylene-ethylene random copolymer. For example, the polypropylene resin may be a block polypropylene resin.
[0035] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may have a melt flow index (MI) of about 5 to about 110 g / 10 min, for example, about 10 to about 60 g / 10 min, measured under conditions of 230°C and a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238. Within this range, the mechanical properties, moldability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be excellent.
[0036] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may have a calcium (Ca) content of less than about 0.1 wt%, similar to a typical virgin polypropylene resin. Within this range, the polypropylene resin composition may exhibit excellent flame retardancy, (extrusion) moldability, mechanical properties, etc. Here, the calcium content of the polypropylene resin was measured using an ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer) analysis method (device name: OPTIMA 7300DV (Perkin-Elmer)).
[0037] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin may be included in an amount of about 40 to about 70 wt%, for example, about 45 to about 65 wt%, of 100 wt% of the base material composed of the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin. If the content of the polypropylene resin is less than about 40 wt% of the base material, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and if it exceeds about 70 wt%, there is a concern that the environmental friendliness, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.
[0038]
[0039] (B) Regenerated polypropylene resin
[0040] According to one specific example of the present invention, a recycled polypropylene resin is applied to a polypropylene resin composition as a recycled material to provide environmental friendliness, and can be applied together with the polypropylene resin (new material), a phosphorus-based flame retardant, talc, and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, etc., to improve the flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and the balance of these physical properties of the polypropylene resin composition. As the recycled polypropylene resin, a recycled polypropylene resin having a calcium (Ca) content of about 0.1 to about 1 wt% can be used. When the calcium content of the recycled polypropylene resin exceeds about 1 wt%, there is a concern that the flame retardancy, (extrusion) moldability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.
[0041] In a specific example, the recycled polypropylene resin may have a melt flow index (MI) of about 5 to about 100 g / 10 min, for example, about 20 to about 80 g / 10 min, measured under conditions of 230°C and a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238. Within this range, the polypropylene resin composition may have excellent rigidity, impact resistance, heat resistance, and the like.
[0042] In a specific example, the recycled polypropylene resin may be included in an amount of about 30 to about 60 wt%, for example, about 35 to about 55 wt%, of the polypropylene resin and 100 wt% of the base material made of the recycled polypropylene resin. If the content of the recycled polypropylene resin is less than about 30 wt%, of the 100 wt% base material, there is a concern that the environmental friendliness of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and if it exceeds about 60 wt%, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.
[0043]
[0044] (C) Nitrogen-based flame retardant
[0045] According to one specific example of the present invention, a phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant can be applied to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin together with talc and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, etc., to improve the eco-friendliness, flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and the balance of these physical properties, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition, and a phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant used in a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.
[0046] In specific examples, the phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant may include piperazine pyrophosphate, melamine phosphate, melamine polyphosphate, melam pyrophosphate, melem pyrophosphate, melon pyrophosphate, melamine pyrophosphate, dimelamine pyrophosphate, melam polyphosphate, melon polyphosphate, melem polyphosphate, ammonium hydrogen phosphate, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, ammonium polyphosphate, combinations thereof, multiple salts thereof, and the like. For example, the phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant may include melamine polyphosphate, piperazine pyrophosphate, and the like.
[0047] In a specific example, the phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant may be included in an amount of about 25 to about 55 parts by weight, for example, about 30 to about 50 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant is less than about 25 parts by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material, there is a concern that the flame retardancy, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and if it exceeds about 55 parts by weight, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.
[0048]
[0049] (D) Talk
[0050] According to one specific example of the present invention, talc is applied to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin together with a phosphorus-based flame retardant and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, etc., so as to improve the eco-friendliness, flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and the balance of these physical properties of the polypropylene resin composition, and a plate-shaped talc used in a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.
[0051] In a specific example, the talc may have an average particle size of about 5 to about 20 μm, for example, about 9 to about 13 μm, as measured by a particle size measuring device (Malvern Panalytical, Mastersizer 3000). Within this range, the rigidity, shrinkage rate, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be excellent.
[0052] In a specific example, the talc may be included in an amount of about 5 to about 35 parts by weight, for example, about 10 to about 30 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the talc is less than about 5 parts by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material, there is a concern that the rigidity, shrinkage rate, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced, and if it exceeds about 35 parts by weight, there is a concern that the impact resistance, flame retardancy, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be reduced.
[0053]
[0054] (E) Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate
[0055] According to one specific example of the present invention, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate is applied together with a phosphorus-based flame retardant and talc to the polypropylene resin and the recycled polypropylene resin, thereby improving the eco-friendliness, flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and the balance of these physical properties of the polypropylene resin composition. Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate used in a typical thermoplastic resin composition can be used.
[0056] In a specific example, the sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate may be included in an amount of about 0.5 to about 4 parts by weight, for example, about 1 to about 3.5 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material. If the content of the sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate is less than about 0.5 parts by weight based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material, there is a concern that the flame retardancy, (extrusion) moldability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be deteriorated, and if it exceeds about 4 parts by weight, there is a concern that the impact resistance, rigidity, appearance characteristics, thermal stability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be deteriorated.
[0057] In a specific example, the weight ratio of the recycled polypropylene resin and the sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate may be from about 1:0.01 to about 1:0.1, for example from about 1:0.02 to about 1:0.09. In this range, the flame retardancy, (extrusion) moldability, etc. of the polypropylene resin composition may be more excellent.
[0058]
[0059] A polypropylene resin composition according to one embodiment of the present invention may further include additives included in conventional thermoplastic resin compositions. Examples of such additives include, but are not limited to, impact modifiers, anti-drop agents, antioxidants, release agents, nucleating agents, UV stabilizers, pigments, dyes, and mixtures thereof.
[0060] In a specific example, when the additive is used, the content may be about 0.001 to about 40 parts by weight, for example, about 0.1 to about 10 parts by weight, based on about 100 parts by weight of the base material.
[0061]
[0062] A polypropylene resin composition according to one specific example of the present invention may be in the form of pellets obtained by mixing the above components and melt-extruding them at about 180 to about 320°C, for example, about 240 to about 300°C, using a conventional twin-screw extruder.
[0063] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition may have a content of the recycled polypropylene resin of about 20 to about 50 wt% based on 100 wt% of the total polypropylene resin composition. Within this range, the environmental friendliness desired by the present invention can be achieved, and the polypropylene resin composition may have excellent flame retardancy, impact resistance, rigidity, (extrusion) moldability, and a balance of these physical properties.
[0064] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition may have a flame retardancy of V-0 or higher in a 2.5 mm thick injection molded specimen measured by the UL-94 vertical test method.
[0065] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition may have a notched Izod impact strength of about 1.5 to about 7 kgf·cm / cm, for example, about 2 to about 5 kgf·cm / cm, of a 1 / 4" thick specimen measured according to ASTM D256.
[0066] In a specific example, the polypropylene resin composition has a tensile strength of about 160 to about 230 kgf / cm of a 3.2 mm thick specimen measured under conditions of 50 mm / min according to ASTM D638. 2 , for example, about 170 to about 210 kgf / cm 2 It could be.
[0067]
[0068] The molded article according to the present invention is formed from the polypropylene resin composition. The polypropylene resin composition can be manufactured in the form of pellets, and the manufactured pellets can be manufactured into various molded articles (products) through various molding methods such as injection molding, extrusion molding, vacuum molding, and casting molding. Such molding methods are well known to those skilled in the art to which the present invention pertains.

In the case of Comparative Example 4, where the content of the phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant is less than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the flame retardancy, etc. are reduced. In the case of Comparative Example 5, where the content of the phosphorus-nitrogen-based flame retardant is more than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the impact resistance, rigidity, etc. are reduced. In the case of Comparative Example 7, where the content of talc is less than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the rigidity, etc. are reduced. In the case of Comparative Example 8, where the content of talc is more than the range of the present invention, it can be seen that the impact resistance, etc. are reduced. In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 9, where the content of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate is below the range of the present invention, it can be seen that flame retardancy, (extrusion) moldability, etc. are deteriorated, and in the case of Comparative Example 10, where the content of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate is above the range of the present invention, it can be seen that impact resistance, rigidity, etc. are deteriorated, and in the case of Comparative Example 11, where calcium stearate (F) is applied instead of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, it can be seen that flame retardancy, impact resistance, (extrusion) moldability, etc. are deteriorated.
